Hi all, i need some opinion.
I may need at least 30-35 tables which ocean and pacific ballroom can both cater.
But i am in a diliemna.I have tentatively book Ocean ballroom on a auspicious day with Ivan yew.
I have tour both the ballroom and of course pacific ballroom will be the ideal choice.
but unfortunately, pacific Ballroom is taken up on my particular auspicious day(sat),
If you were me, would you go for the ocean ballroom on the auspicious day,
Or the pacific ballroom on a normal day(sat)?

Hi Coco, i think you have to hit a miimum of 40 tables for Pacific ballroom. Well the aupicious day is picked to bring luck to ur family so maybe its better to stick to it. Anyway when is ur Auspicious date?

oh,For pacific ballroom, min 30 tables will do for luncheon. im worried as Ivah said that for ocean ballroom, 35 tables will be quite cramped through it can hit max 38 tables.
My auspicious day on the OCt 3(lunar eighth mth day 15).

oic, if cost is not a factor, I think Pacific ballroom would be a great choice as it is spacious. However, maybe you can find another auspicious date that falls on a saturday as well?

yep, but finding another venue with an auspicious date will be quite tough as it is very close to the date, and most hotels are fully committed for weekends 2009. unless it is on a weekday. i personally quite like pan pac.so it really depends on if we want to forgo this date to go for a larger ballroom.

hi all, i'm holding my banquet at Pan Pacific too!

mine's on dec 20, 2009 at pacific ballroom for 65 tables. we paid a deposit of $6k. and yes, we have to pay 50% a month before the wedding.

my coordinator is charlotte...but i think she gives me the impression that the hotel is not very flexible. quite hard to negotiate for more.

i also tried to ask for seat sashes. she actually told me that the hotel has less than 120 pcs so she can't do it for me.

anyone had problems with her?

jasmine: actually I checked with some of my friends who held their dinner at other hotels too on the seat sashes part....same thing: gotta pay for the extra sashes, they only provide for the VIP tables. So i guess thats the norm? But I do wonder if anyone had requested for the seat sashes for all chairs and managed to get them waived at Pan Pac? hmmmm....

Hi Jasmine & Pearl, i find that Charlotte am quite inflexible on certain stuff too...

Nope i didnot ask for seat sashes..

When's ur wedding Pearl?

Hi Pearl and Happy!

you see, besides the sashes...it was very hard to exchange for other things...e.g, i didn't need the invitation cards and wedding cake. so we were hoping to exchange for some room service vouchers. but it seems like the hotel has made alot of things "fixed". it's either "you take it or leave it".

oh, i forgot to mention that we finally went down to Pan Pacific to sign the contract. Charlotte was nicer and a wee bit more flexible in terms of the themes and setup.

i saw a preview of the 2009 themes. it's not 100% confirmed yet, they are still working with their contact.

The popular "Romance" theme is staying for good. There will be a "Victorian" theme where we can expect to see lots of black and red. I think this colour combo theme is getting very common...so really not my cup of tea. There was also a pink, purple and white theme, decorated with strands of pearls. This one looks sweet. And finally, there is one other white theme...I forgot what was said though.

She also mentioned that we could work sthg out if i didn't find any of the themes suitable. (Let's see how true that is)

Putting the inflexible issue aside, I'm still very happy with pan pacific. Basically, my htb and I only started looking for a venue in mid dec. so by then, ritzcarlton, mandarin, fullerton and many of our choices were already fully booked. So I am really thankful that Pan Pac did a really quick chaser for us.

When I first saw the Pacific ballroom, I loved the carpet...it feels like a piece of sea. The suite was nice too..simplistic yet classic. I'm so excited about holding out wedding there! ;) somehow, still not excited enough to start my preparations....haha

I think the walk in path is indeed very long...but it looks very plain...there is no "red carpet" feel when you walk in. Any ideas how to solve this issue?

Happy: I guess its the hotel's policies...not much Charlotte can do... Still happy with her service so far

My wedding will be 29 November 2009...still quite a long way to go.

Jasmine: Yah....Charlotte also told me we can do a mix and match if we wish...I have not heard about the themes yet,,,probably need to meet up with them in August/September right? Not too sure..... Wonder if they have will spot lights on us when we walk in? Anyone knows? If so, I guess that will solve the issue. I think they need to improve on the flower decor though...I am looking forward to see the pink, purple and white theme with pearls..sounds interesting

Hello Pearl!

nice to meet another yr end bride..how's your wedding preparations coming along?
happy.gif
mine will be on dec 20...haven done anything yet...

As for the walk-in issue, I don't think there is any spotlight on us...as for the aisle decor, it's also quite minimal...so the floral stands does not flow well together to form a walkway. I'm hoping not to fork out more $$$ just to put in more decor.

For the themes, she did show me pictures from her hp..but everything is yet to be finalised. earliest would be around marc or april. i guess she would give us a call when the themes are out.

i think someone also mentioned about the white lights...something i'm not quite comfortable with...i guess i was expecting the normal yello lighting of most hotel ballrooms. I really wonder why they choose whote light......but white light does make the blue tones carpet look better...

Great to meet you too!

I settled the bridal studio, AD PG and banquet only....AD VG not settled yet.....i think we still have time to do the preparations :p

I also dun wanna fork out more $$$ on decor.....

oh well....lets hope the themes will be nicer....more flowers etc....cos the last time I saw, I thought the decor was pretty plain and I highlighted to Charlotte.

Hey Pearl Chin, i also highlighted to Charlotte but it doesn't sound like she can do much about the floral decor...a little bit more flowers will go a long way!

Thanks Happy! for 65 tables (that's the max max), it is indeed very squeezy...making my walk in very short...so we're trying our best to cut down on the no of guests...i'm really hoping for a long walk in!

Cass, for the stuff that i got from Pan Pac...you gotta give me a few days...cause the details are with my dad'a secretary..so i'll mail ya once i get my hands on it! and i didn't get the 2nd projector FOC too..

Hi JAsmine, do u mean that u need te function rm for ur solemnisation & tea ceremony? I think they do not charge u if u r doing it the day of ur banquet say 5-6pm..

New Member
Hi Jas, I think they do not charge us. Anyway its only a short session that take less than 30 mins. I am holding my solemnisation at 6pm. Will double confirm with my coordinator is it true that there's charges incurred for those basic deco, seats and tables.

Thanks to inform us on that

Hi Pearl, any idea if you knw whether those signature pens (eg those feather like pens) used for solemnisation is provided by Pan Pac as well?

pearl_chin

New Member
i thought those feather like pens are bought outside to fit into their wedding themes? I am not too sure... i think they will give usual looking pens?

thanks gals for your advice!

maybe my case was a litte bit different...my solemnisation is on 25 mar while my ad is dec 20...so i only need a place for my tea ceremony in the morning. for that, she has to charge me the normal function room rates..

still pondering over the floral decor and aisle, maybe i should msg charlotte again...

Hi Erina, I got the standard package for Sunday Night...cannot remember the name (Was it Dazzle?). Perks thrown in were free flow of wine, one more night stay in the hotel (not bridal suite though). I think now got a much better deal - free flow of wine and beer...not too sure how much the package is for next year. I got mine at $1088++ per table. How much is it now?

pearl_chin

New Member
yes, I managed to get that when I signed the package last nov. then again I am not too sure if most guests will drink since its on a Sunday. one of my friends had a wedding on a Sunday and she brought home 15 out of 30 bottles...

nope...not yet! Charlotte left and I am left with another coordinator. However, before that, she had kept me posted on the developments of the themes that have been drawn up in sketches. There will be a wedding show in March, i think they will unveil the themes then...not too sure

pearl_chin

actually, i was offered $25 per bottle of red wine...which I thought was a steal!!! then came the offer of free flow of red wine so I just take this up instead.

I think your coordinator must be same as mine ...Ivan right:p

So besides the free flow...do u have per table a bottle of red wine complimentary..
