An Updated List of Solemnisers for 2018/19 Weddings Recommended by Real Singapore Brides

This list of solemnisers recommended by real brides-to-be will be a lifesaver to brides planning their wedding in 2018/19!

Searching for a solemniser to officiate your wedding may be one of those nitty-gritty tasks you don’t want to touch but nonetheless have to and the thought of surfing through wedding forums to see who other brides-to-be are engaging for their big day is just making you dread the task even more.

Well, you’re in luck. We’ve done the footwork and put together a list of 32 solemnisers who are still officiating weddings, recommended by real brides-to-be, for couples who are getting married in 2018/19.

Four Most Common Questions Asked by Brides-to-Be Before Engaging A Solemniser

Familiarise yourself with the four most common questions brides-to-be ask in their search for a solemniser before you get in touch with your shortlisted solemniser (or solemnisers).

1. Do I Need A Solemniser?

Not everyone needs to engage a solemniser to get married. If you are solemnising at the Registry of Marriage (ROM), you do not need to search for a solemniser as one will be provided for you. But, if you are having your solemnisation outside of the ROM, then you’ll need to engage a solemniser on your own.

2. How far in advance should I book a solemniser?

It is recommended to book your solemniser three months before your solemnisation date but you may contact your preferred solemniser more than three months in advance to check on their availability and book their services, especially if they are very popular. However, do take note that some may not accept bookings too far in advance.

3. What Does My Solemniser Need to Do?

Once you’ve engaged a solemniser, arrange to meet him or her to sign the Solemniser Consent Form. During the meeting, you and your solemniser should get to know each other better to avoid any awkwardness during your solemnisation. If you are unsure about how the solemnisation process will be on your actual day, do ask your solemniser to explain the process so you’ll have a better idea and can prepare for it. You should also ask for his or her buddy’s contact, in the event of a no-show or delay in arrival on the day of your solemnisation.

4. Do I Have to Pay or Include My Solemniser in My Wedding?

While solemnisers do not charge a fee for their services per se, it is only courteous to gift them with a token of appreciation for taking time and effort to officiate your wedding. How much you gift your solemniser is entirely up to you, but if you are unsure of how much you should gift them, don’t be afraid to ask how much he or she usually receive from previous couples. Most solemnisers are quite open to share about how much they’ve received in the past, so you can use that as a gauge.

Most solemnisers usually leave after the solemnisation ceremony is over and do not join the wedding banquet after. Hence, it is not necessary to leave a seat for them at your wedding banquet. But, do clarify with your solemniser if he or she wishes or expects to join in the celebrations after the solemnisation ceremony to avoid any misunderstanding on the day itself.

Where Can I Find A Solemniser?

It is not difficult to come across lists on the 10 most popular or recommended solemnisers on the Internet these days, but most of the information provided in those lists are outdated. Of course, you have the option of checking the list against the full list of authorised solemnisers on the ROM website, but that can too time-consuming and tedious a task for a busy bride-to-be.

To save you the hassle, we’ve done the footwork for you and put together an updated list of 32 popular solemnisers who are still officiating, recommended by actual brides, to help you find the solemniser for your once-in-a-lifetime.
