Sheena and Jing Wen’s Elegant Forest Wedding at Clifford Pier

Sheena and Jing Wen celebrated their love in an elegant wedding at Clifford Pier, amidst cherry blossom trees and a dreamy forest!

Sheena and Jing Wen met right before the pandemic, but the social distancing only brought them closer! After Sheena said yes to a surprise proposal, the couple tied the knot in an elegant wedding at Clifford Pier, where they made a grand entrance through a shadowy forest, into a light and airy space styled with cherry blossom trees.

How did you meet?

We met right before Covid hit in 2020. It was a blessing in disguise as Covid actually brought us closer, rather than further apart as distance makes the heart grow fonder – especially when we had heart-to-heart phone calls during the circuit breaker period. While it certainly wasn’t easy as planning for dates was close to impossible, we were able to navigate through this difficult period of time together via handmade food deliveries/cards.

What made you fall in love with your partner?

Jing Wen: It was definitely the emotional connection which attracted me to Sheena since the first day we started talking to each other – we could connect right off the bat and Sheena made me feel comfortable around her all the time. I have never felt like I was being “assessed” or “judged” by her during the “chasing period” but more like we were genuinely trying to know each other better. Most importantly, we could get along well with each other’s families and we both share similar life values and goals.

Sheena: Jing Wen is very easy to be around with and he is the light of the party. I have never felt more alive than when I’m with him. I love how he constantly tries to win my heart although he has already won it. He makes me laugh when I’m taking myself too seriously and he always challenges me to be the best version of myself. Most of all, he is a dependable and loving life partner whom I am happy to be with.

What was the proposal like?

Jing Wen: I wanted to create a timelapse sketch for my proposal for Sheena – and I am certainly glad that I engaged The Wedding Stylist for the flawless execution of the proposal. I started the night out for dinner at Art at the National Gallery – and at the same time a few of my friends were at the proposal venue to assist with the surprise for Sheena. There was a nice, long skybridge there where Sheena could watch the timelapse video as well as some photos of our fondest memories together. While it wasn’t easy planning for this proposal, every moment on the day itself made it worthwhile when Sheena said “Yes!”.

What was your wedding theme and how did you create it?

Both of us wanted a whimsical wedding theme, and Clifford Pier was definitely our first choice. We wanted to create a shadow effect of forest trees and frame the entrance of our march-in with cherry blossoms. When we first communicated our core ideas to Kayly from Bucket Full of Roses, we were glad that our views were aligned and she definitely went above and beyond in the execution. We had 100% faith and trust in her conceptualisation and expertise so there wasn’t any moment of doubt in whether the wedding decoration would meet our expectations.

What was your wedding day like?

We barely had much sleep the night before as we could not contain the excitement we had for our big day. We were running on adrenaline and were glad that everything went smoothly thanks to our wedding planner, amazing bride and groom squads, and vendors who made everything possible. It was a magical moment walking down the aisle, hand-in-hand, as we welcomed in a new phase of life together.

What was the most memorable moment of your wedding?

Both of us danced to the song “Beauty and the Beast” during our march-in and it was definitely the most memorable moment as we enjoyed the process of learning the dance the most. Although neither of us have any dancing background/prior experience, it felt like we had the time of our lives dancing away to a beautiful song in this once-in-a-lifetime moment.

Sheena: My heart skipped a beat when Jing Wen dedicated a saxophone piece as a surprise to me during the wedding. He played “Can’t Help Falling in Love with you” which complemented the ambience perfectly. As it was his first time performing the saxophone, it felt even more special.
