Hi gals,

Just met up with Mr Chan for the letter of consent. He is really a nice wise man, give us lotsa of advices. Told us stories bout other couples. Was quite worried intially, cuz he appear real stern and during my friend's wedding, he kinda scolded us for making too much noise.. haha.. but during the meeting with him, he actually crack some jokes..

Hi Soon to be,

Where did he request to meet up? Near Orchard MRT?

A pen and your FH and if possible the letter of consent (u can print it from ROM website). Mr Chan will bring spare copies in case couples like us who forget to bring it.. haha...

Compassrose, I have called not him for the meeting yet. He told me to call later this month to arrange the meeting.

I'm a bit confused with the process. Do we e-file first or do we meet up with him first?

Hi Soon to be,

For us, we e-file first. However, from archive thread seems like they are couples who meet up with him first.

He pass me his license number over the phone. You will need his JP license number when u e-file. Upon sucessful e-filing, ROM will schedule a date (usu few days before ROM date) for us to produce supporting docs like our I/C, witness's I/C etc.. (ROM will list the things to bring)

When is your ROM date and is it at ROM or out of ROM? Cuz if it's held at ROM, you must e-file earlier to secure the time slot you want. Importantly, meet up with Mr. Chan to get the letter of consent before your appointment date at ROM, Trust Mr. Chan, he def call you if he said he will.

Hope the infors helps

The gals has posted many tips and detailed information on e-filing. Do take some time to read thru and you have a better understanding.

I was very lost as well until i chance upon this thread and Mr.Chan has been very helpful as well. U will do fine! CHeers!

Hi,

I think if u are going to solemize at ROM, there is not need to engage Mr. Chan cos they will allocate in house JP to u instead. Yes, it is indeed very easy to do up the efile etc. Just take your time and follow closely, I dun think you will get lost! Good luck!

Hi hi, I'm doing mine outside ROM.

I have already contacted Mr Chan early July. Just want to make sure that I'm doing all the things right......panicking now...still have so many things to do, invite list, march in songs, etc etc.....

Gals, thanks for the advise.

hi gals..

Just had my solemnisation by Mr Chan yesterday...am very much impressed by him..did everything in both mandarin and english...and tried to put us at ease and prompt us to say/do the right things as we were too nervous... :p

Hi ladies,

Would you mind sharing your experience of solemnising in English and Mandarin? Is it awkward to take the vow twice? How long does it take? Actually I planned to solemnise in Mandarin and all my guests understand Mandarin. But I really hope to do it in English. But scared like too KS to do it in both languages. Pls share your views.

Thanks

Hi Girls,

I am having a big of headache here.

Had confirmed with Mr. Chan to be my JP for my solemnization on 4 Oct 2006.

I am wondering what to get for Mr. Chan. Ang Bao?? Gift?? Both??

I am worry if I prepare Ang Bao and he decline to accept, at least I have a small gift for him.

Would like to hear from all of you.

You can also email me at [email protected]

Hi Tots,

Thanks for replying.

I am not sure, you see. I know it is a norm for the couple to give ang pao n for the JP to accept it.

My fren has came across this JP that decline to receive any pao & gift and this make her feel so bad.

Is there any couples that just had Mr. Chan as your JP, I would like to hear your views.

Hi Gals

We just had Mr Chan last Tuesday (12th Sep) and I must say, we were very glad that we got him.

He even helped to translate the significance of the different procedures of the ceremony in both English and Mandarin (for the benefit of the old folks).

At the end, we gave him an Ang Pow and he accepted it.
So dun worry...

hihi

how much u gv to Mr Chan huh, Babystarlet?

the norm is minimum $28, but usually couples gv him more. Wonder if Mr Chan will stay for dinner if we have one?

Hiyah mitzi,if I dun rem wrongly,I tink I gave mr chan $38.
We asked him if wanna stay for our high-tea reception,he says he got another wedding to solemise.

So is better for you to invite him when u meet him for e consent forms.and if he cannot make it,he will let u noe

Hi,

I booked Mr Chan 3 mths ago and invited him for our Hi-Tea after our solemnisation. However, he told me he is going home after that. Since then, I have not confirm with him again. But I will still ask him one more time nearer to my ROM date (14 Oct 06) and confirm once again. No harm asking... out of courtesy too.

Good luck, gals.
