shannie and brides, heres my review on the BS:

Jawn happy ever after
Euzart is very friendly, let me tried 2 wg that describes what i wanted. however, i was disappointed to be told i actually need to top up $800 for a "jolene" blushing pink sweetheart dress with messy tulle which i quite like. (I thought OTR means i dont have to pay additional) and when i ask if I mtm that gown, he mentioned a topup of $2k..just dont know if the topup is worth?

Package $3188
1 MTM WG
1 MTM EG
Groom: ! suit and 1 shirt
Trial, PS and AD (Day and night) makeup and hair styling
1 fresh flowers for hand bouquet
2 corsages for froom
4 corsages for parents
Complimetary: 1 fresh flower bouquet for PS, accessories on rental

Basically the rest of the BS provides similar WG and EG mtm packages so i wont state details.

2nd stop: Amanda Lee, Miah was nice and polite but somehow i didnt see any pretty gowns to my liking, and wasnt wowed by the two gowns he let me tried. quality seems lacking somehow, but maybe they are OTR and the good ones are kept for their MTM brides. they have a promo of 10% off or early birds. usual $4880 for MTM package.

3rd stop: Renne L
package $6800 Only MTM package. went there coz i saw bryan jean taking a pretty bride with quite unique gowns. but the two gals there seem indonesian/ foreigners and they told me they can sketch the design (???). me and gfs think they are more like salesgal than designer, and to pay so much for the gowns with "no designer" around? i tried two gowns, the mustard one was nice, quality and material is good but i really have no idea how to communicate with them.they only tell me to let them know what color and design i like and they can draw for me? i can go any other BS if i know what i want.

4th stop: Dang
$4188. Dang is very motherly n nice. let me try alot of her gowns! quite like the designs there but everything seems to need a top up for mtm. was quoted to top $700-800 for WG becoz of lace, and for EG the one i quite like need to top $1500 for a new mtm!unless i take otr...=(

i guess i might have to shop around more BS before i decide! i havent seem to see a gown that WOWed myself...means i havent found my dreamgown?

welcome karmene! if i'm not wrong, you signed up with amanda lee?
happy.gif

liquidzza, from your comments, i think you like jawn & dang more than the other 2? most BS charges extra for crystals, lace, tulle etc, even if it's OTR. i personally think jawn's prices are very reasonable.

do you have a design of WG & EG in mind? allow them to sketch the design for you and see if you like it? i feel that you have to be very comfortable with the service and the designer.

maybe you will like silhouette's gowns? have to top up 1k for their OTR ballgowns. their tulle very soft and nice!
happy.gif

i'll have a hard time finding a BS coz of my indecisiveness. i have the designs in mind but not sure if they'll suit me. i have set a budget of 5k for BS and dont wish to exceed that. hopefully i can find one i like soon, before I engage PG/VG.

Shannie ya I like sweetheart tulle ball gown so maybe i will go try silhouette.I also budget max 6k with to up.think sil doesn't have so much hidden cost.u find jawns price reasonable?top up $800 for a OTR gown worn by another bride n she already top up $2k to MTm. Personally I feel with this amt I can get a MTm fr twp or al..

i like sweetheart tulle ballgown too! :D

i asked sil, they mentioned have to top up 1k for OTR too. so i guess it's the same for most BS? i think jawn's packages is the cheapest? sil OTR package is already 4280 + top up 1k for ballgown.

liquidzza

but i think if the quality at sil is good, i rather take them. coz so far i think only twp tulle caught my eye, n i heard from gf that sil's tulle is really nice!so next is to see sil!hehee...

i believe you will fall in love with sil! their tulle is nicer than twp. i can't sign up with them as i have a budget to work with. it's gonna cost a bomb if i were to take sil's mtm packages + top up. -__-

although it's once in a lifetime, i only get to wear my gowns for a few hours on my wedding day. since i'm having lunch banquet, i'm not sure if i wanna have 2 or 3 gowns.
sad.gif

i was thinking of having 2 pre-wed shoots since we spent so much on the gowns..

for BS, upon sign up, do we pay the full price? or place a deposit 1st?

dreayh

shannie: pay a deposit! some BS i visited allowed payments in 4 parts, first upon sign up, 2nd during gown choosing, 3rd after collecting pre-wed photos, 4th when you return the gown after the wedding. But maybe not all BS are like that, the one I signed with is a 2 time payment.

hi shannie, think Dang n AL requires a 50% deposit...if im not wrong, most requires 50% =)

when are you seeing your gowns?

liquidzza: u can consider going lavie bridal at spottiswood park. their gowns give me the "wow" factor. not to worry, not pushy at all~

i havent made appt to see gowns.

something happened and my bf and i might be having a huge financial commitment every month. sigh~ i don't think i wanna commit anything for now.

i'm attending a friend's wedding at pan pac this sunday. will see if the experience is good. if not, i might wanna forgo banquet and use the deposit for solemnization instead. then we'll just do a simple solemnization and go honeymoon.

hi shannie, wad happen?

anyway heres my BS shopping experience yesterday at sil, kai and twp.

Caroline was friendly and she let me try a few gowns. sil's tulle gown is nice and poofy but i didnt find anything i really like OTR. wanted to try one of the gowns they posted on fb but its out for alteration for their coming wedding show. after some thought, OTR WG and MTM EG cost $5K already and since i cant find anything OTR, i have to top another $2k for the kind i like, over my budget.

Kai's gowns are nice and some designs are unique. his gowns are surprising light and easy to wear compared to other bs gowns i tried. Kai is friendly and nice, gives alot suggestions to what i look better in. however, his gowns starts at $3500 for two and there's no package. he does have tie ups with various vendors but think it exceeds my budget too.

Twp was my last stop. its my 2nd visit there, and only yesterday i saw a gown that i like. I signed on the spot after trying that gown. Alan is my friend's coordinator (getting married this yr dec) so i find him very friendly towards us. The OTR Wg actually fits me so well i thought i can take it OTR but end up still took MTM package. Their otr package (for Wg and EG) cost $3599, but selection for eg is quite little. MTM package (both WG and EG) cost $4699 and includes men suit, mua, flowers etc and they have a promo (AUG to SEP) to give one item eg extra mens suit, teadress complimentary..

so happy another big item off my list!

i'm happy for you too!

i would have to write an essay if i were to share. haha. anyways, we're gonna pay quite a sum every month and i'm afraid we're unable to cope since we need a lot of money for wedding. don't wanna be in debt after the wedding. my bf thinks we should go ahead, shall see how it goes. i dont wanna make any commitment for the time being. hee.

can i ask for twp mtm package, how much do you have to top up for tulle ballgown? complimentary men's suit or teadress sounds good, are they otr? is the deposit 50% as well? the balance to be paid when collect gowns or? sorry for asking so many questions. =p

Hello guys! Sorry for the late reply! Yes I took up with Amanda lee but the off the rack package and I love her gowns.. I'm surprised to find gowns to my liking off the rack and Amanda is really friendly and helpful! I took the grand ballroom at marina mandarin...

hi shannie, hope everything will turn out fine for you.=) for mtm package, dont have to top up for tulle gowns, lace, beadings n swaroski are also included unless u want to add excessive blings or lace. the complimentary suit or teadress is mtm!but this extra suit u dont get to keep unless u add $200. Im quite surprised a tuxedo for the one suit included in the package as dang, AL and others all required a top up. i paid 50% deposit when i sign the package.

now just have no idea about their MUA. any btb can help me? thinking btw,

Juey Huey (makeup room)
Sophia Chia
Gin Tan

thanks liquidzza. i seriously hope so too.

$4699 is a very good price if it doesnt require top up for tulle ballgown and with the complimentary mtm suit. oh dear, i'm so tempted to sign up with them as well. haha. so the promo is till end of sep? the balance to be paid when the gowns are ready?

i think the 3 MUAs you mentioned are all good. if i were to choose one i'll pick Gin.

hey shannie, ya i thought their package is pretty good but i sign because i liked one of their gowns this time round!their promo is till SEP so go take a look if you are keen=) i didnt ask when the balance is to be paid. the contract is at my bfs house but hes overseas..if u want i can check whens hes back, then let u know again=)

have you had friends who engaged Gin before?my gf liked gin tan too. but from her fb, most of her style is very natural, and i prefer makeup more chic and enhance eyes (coz i have those "inner double eyelid" kinda small eyes. hehe..but theres not much samples of the MUA online so i dont know how to choose. just based on reviews on brides in forum i heard about good reviews on Gin, Juey Huey and Sophia. i thought for PS, it might be better that juey huey has makeup room shop then i can go back to her for change of makeup/hair for 2nd look. but for gin and sophia, im not sure how to arrange as they dont have a shop.

hee, but of course, i would like to choose the one who can do nice eyes, and hair!hehee

ooh, then it's okay. no need to trouble you, i will ask them when i'm there. i need to pay 50% of the banquet price 2 weeks before my AD. so i hope the payment of the balance for BS/PG/VG can be mths before, or after the wedding. hehe.. i'll most likely be visiting them next week. i shortlisted 4 BS, which includes twp. not sure if i should visit the other 3 first?

nope, i do not have friends who engaged gin. but i saw her works online and i quite like it. i also have inner double eyelid. haha. i think you can ask those brides who engaged gin/sophia who have taken their PS on how's the arrangement like?

btw, do you have any idea which are the PGs that twp tie up with? or the price of the package with pre-wed PG?

liquidzza

shannie, i can email you the pg but the price is quoted in Jan. maybe you can see for ur reference. just gimme ur email add=)

which other bridal shop are u thinking of going? =)

okay, sure. you can email me at [email protected]. thank you!
happy.gif

hmm, shortlisted jawn, bridal veil and ted collection as well. i'll visit all 4.. hopefully can sign up by this month! then i can look for PG if i don't like those they tie up with. =X

received your email. thanks!!
so happy to see a few PGs i like.. and the pre-wed price are very reasonable. i'm starting to like twp before i even meet up with them. haha!

attended a wedding at pan pac earlier, the food and service was great! i'm quite glad i chose them although the ballroom decor wasn't that good. the couple engaged substance films as their VG and i'm very impressed with yang's works! it's way out of my budget though.

hi all: disappeared for very long as I have been posted overseas!

how's everyone progress? i havent step into any bridal studio except for bridal de coulture as of yet.. and also set down at the booths outside bugis with a taiwanese booth..dont know where to start.. only settle my PG:S cant decide whether to host my wedding in SIngapore or overseas.. really wanted to follow my heart and host a destination wedding in Bali just for the really close friends and relatives.. like 50pax. then a buffet at one of the gardens/lawns or park in SIngapore for other friends.. anyone know of any nice place with nice lawns? i want a wedding that is more interactive instead of sit down banquet..

Hi shannie, me here again.. sorry for not posting for quite awhile cos abit lazy n not much progress on my side. but i do pop in to read once a while but din comment..
happy.gif

I attended a wedding dinner at Pan Pac last Sat also. I love their double boiled soup. Drinks are not diluted. Their co-ordinator is extremely attentive to the couple.

Shannie, which ballroom u taking? my frenz took the ocean ballrooms which is long one, where the stage is at one end. For me, i cant see what is going on on the stage.

Next month im attending a wedding at my own wedding venue also. Hopefully its good.. *finger crossed*
happy.gif

hi min min, i saw photos of weddings in bali and they look fab!! it will cost a bomb, do you intend to pay for air tix & accomodation for your guests? maybe can consider halia at botanic gardens for buffet in singapore?

hi meiqi!! i've got no progress on my side either, only booked venue & nothing else. haha. finally visiting BS this weekend.

i took the ocean ballroom as well. both ballrooms in pan pac are long-ish, i kind of like it coz i can have a longer march-in, but of coz a squarish one would be the most ideal. double boiled soup? do you mean sharks fin? i was kind of disappointed that they serve pepsi instead of coke though.

i think it feels good to attend a wedding at your own wedding venue, so you can experience what it feels like being a guest, and the very early food tasting. i hope it'll be a good one for you, do keep us updated!

I went to halia to recee once. The place is quietly nested but unless u have a small group of pax. There are 3 areas in Halia but i feel that its like 3 individual areas. if guests are seated in the bar side, its like totally excluded from the courtyard seated guests. so it really depends how many guests u inviting. But its a v nice place.. What abt Amara sactuary sentosa? u can rom at the glass house...

Shannie, yes a long march in
happy.gif
My frenz din serve sharkfin, so dbl boiled soup for replacement. But the soup ingredients r good. got abalone, scallop, chicken, mushroom n fish maw. n it taste really good. my fav dish..

i din know they dun serve coke also. I cant drink coke cos wil immediately get gastric. but then my frenzs din mentioned it wasnt coke. hahaha..

actually i attended once 2yrs ago but too long ago n who knows im holding my wedding there now. So looking fwd to attending. hahaha.. told my bf that he beta take note of all things when we are there. hahaha..

Tml attending another wedding at Parkroyal. So many upcoming red bombs until end of the year.. :S

Hi liquidzza! so far, i had only confirmed on the venue. Planning to go visit some bridal studios this week but the more i read in forum, the more confused i got. HAHA.. there's just too many bridal studios out there!

Was thinking of visiting 2 studios at tanjong pagar tomorrow to check it out. Any recommendation?

How's your wedding prep too?

yea, i've a few weddings to attend until end of the year too. attending a solemnization this sunday, cant find a suitable gift, not sure if i should give angbao or gift. -__-"

i'm visiting 2 BS tomorrow too! i walked past bridal veil this afternoon and the ppl there don't look too friendly. feeling a bit nervous.. wondering if there'll be any gowns that suits me.

visited bridal veil and the wedding present earlier. here's my review.

BV- the consultant who attended to me was heidi, and faith helped me dress. both were very nice and friendly, they are permanent part-timers though. my bf and i were very pleased with their services. the workmanship and quality of every gown(regardless of material) is really good. however, the gowns i tried didn't really look good on me. i didn't had a chance to speak to the designer michelle & colin though. if i want a tulle ballgown(just a simple one), their glamourous package costs $5380 with flowers, which i though its quite expensive.

TWP- alan attended to me as well. he was friendly, but i thought we lack chemistry. haha. i felt that the quality of the gowns were not that good, materials look cheap, and the gowns look old. maybe because they are OTR gowns. i tried on a few gowns, and they all look good on me. their mtm package is quite comprehensive, and no top up required for tulle ballgowns which i like. however, it started raining when we park our car, we saw a angry couple talking to patrick, i'm not sure what happened, but i heard patrick saying "we are willing to compensate you", and we got a parking summon when we walked to our car. my bf thinks god is telling us not to sign up with them. -__________-"

i'm quite undecided between the 2.. but i will definitely choose BV if i have the budget. guess i'll just go to a few more BS and decide by sep, before twp promotion ends. hehe.

rolrol!where is your venue? ha...i know its confusing to read the forum since we have talked quite a bit here..mmm personally, i feel that Le grand's gowns are not bad and they tie up w Chris ling PG, alot brides took gowns from Digio/ Rico mona, Bluebay (Taiwan)..but i guess its really up to u if u find their dream gown.

im settled w most important stuff:
BS: TWP
Venue: Marina mandarin vanda
PG VG: Moomedia

Shannie, maybe u shd look around more BS. I didnt go BV coz their shop is closed. if u like tulle gowns, did u try Silhoutte? among the designer BS, actually i quite like Sil n Kai, but think their budget is out of my range..to me, when i tried TWP gown, i thought it looks flattering n my gf says i look slim, HA! thats y i sign. n their promo attracted me i guess!hehe...

yea, i will look around more BS then decide. but most likely i'll sign up with twp, it's within my budget and the promo is really attractive! i'm thinking abt BV every single day though. i've never thought that i'll be so in love with BV. haha. i saw silhouette gowns & packages at a wedding show, their gowns are nice but not within my budget.

hi eileen, welcome! which are the hotels you shortlisted? must book fast coz usually there will be a lot of bookings after the tong shu is out.

Hi Shannie,
Yes, just realised so many hotels booked in advance already! We are only looking at around 25 tables, so abit limited in terms of hotel choices.

Have shortlisted but not go down to site yet :-
-M Hotel
-Traders
-Grand Copthorne

If you gals have feedback on above, pls keep me posted. Thanks!!

Grand Copthorne has very nice Oriental theme ballroom but it is a L shaped ballroom which some ppl dont really like. they provide screens though. and their chief is a celebrity chef, very friendly. I was at a wedding and he walked out to bow to everyone at the banquet.

liquidzz! I've booked my venue at fullerton. The first thing i did was to secure the venue since people are already booking till 2013... scary! so my date wasnt really my first choice. HAHA..

eileen,if u have decided the date, best will be to send all your shortlisted hotels an email to ask about the availability of your date. You can make a reservation (without deposit). then after considering food, ballroom, service, package etc, decide which hotel you really like. If theres another couple interested on your same date, hotel will check with you FIRST coz you reserve it and from then you need to pay a deposit if you want to confirm with them. If you are not keen, they will just give up your reservation and let the other couple book.

shannie, if you really like BV maybe you can reconsider your budget? else later sign twp keep thinking of BV, dont regret wo!like i regret signing MM but no turning back ($4000 deposit) =(

roiroi..wah fullerton!nice place!ex hor!

hey shannie, go for BV if your budget allows it. they are definitely value for money. its afterall once in a lifetime affair. had a friend who used to be their house model and lotsa friends and relatives have used them. do talk to Michelle and u will know why BV is in a different league. check out this website www.kim.com.sg. he used to shoot for BV and is the owner of Avenue 8 if im not wrong. currently in Shanghai now. do PM me if you need more insight on BV and i will be happy to share with u on what i know...

eileen, i attended weddings held at M hotel & GCW. i prefer GCW though. most imptly, you have to be comfortable with the place & the coordinator. i actually look at the perks the hotel offers 1st. haha.

rolrol, did you manage to visit any BS last week? how was it?

liquidzza, i wanna get a cheongsum, and an additional suit for my bf. so if i were to sign up with BV, mostly likely will have to set aside at least 7k for our wedding outfits. now thinking if we really need a cheongsum & an additional suit.
sad.gif

luncheon meat, are you a BV bride? i'm trying to work on my budget now. since BV was the 1st BS i visited, i tend to compare and i know i might not find a better one. heard from the staff that they have a fashion show coming up, any idea where will it be?

minmin, BV is bridal veil. do go and visit them if yoú haven't found a BS.

liquidzza.. yup its on a high side.. haha but nice place. Hey shannie, yes i did! i visited di gio and sophia ~ good experience!

Di Gio's gowns are pretty and i tried several of their gowns to have the actual feel. After which i went sophia and guessed what, i signed. I think the people there are really service-oriented. It was only after i went back then i began searching online, just to be sure.. HAHAHAHA...
