(2006) Brides of year 2006

Hi Ooshie,
My BS seems to 'bao' everything in the package liao. Including PS & AD photography and mag style albums. Not sure if photojournalism means the same thing but wat i mean is they got do artwork to ur photos one. Unless I decided to take on videography (FH not very keen wif tat cos he say he is camera sad wor ... ) else I have nothing else to do for the moment.
But recently nothing to do at work so I look thru the forums for pple's PS and idea on where to go for PS. Overseas PS is cool! But FH say we gonna be more thrifty until wedding. Btw Ooshie, I got a feeling tat u dun seems to have any budget constraits on ur wedding leh ... *envy envy*

me too, i also bored at work so i am also surfing the internet!
got budget contraint!! but i guess it helps that we not getting our own house lor ... so i can pump more money into the wedding instead of the house. Told FH i dun want to be really restricted for this wedding whether use his money or use my own money (ofcoz use his money better!!

). we actually queued for the Duxton flat but in the end back out coz we din want to be committed have to wait until 2010 for completion wait got 5 kids / divorce then no need flat how haha . Hehe luckily both our families like quite anxious for us to stay with them ... also better otherwise no one catch cockroach for FH and I .. know what i mean got babies also easier!
photojournalism is like telling a story with the photography lor ... not looking at the cam kind i think most photographers are doing that now lah..so dun worry im sure your pics will turn out nice... they must be good to be able to tie up with the BS right? btw what is your BS offering?

We have 2 'eng eng' employees here ...
Me balloting for the new proj at sengkang and if its successfully then gonna wait till 2010 then can move in. So meanwhile gonna stay wif in-laws first. So right now our money also pump all in for the wedding. But FH's character is cannot take chances/risk one. He keep worrying 'wat if' dont have enuff money n such and always tell me to save save save.

My BS got:
my gowns (WG, EG, Teadress, ROM dress), FH suits n FIL n daddy suits
40 pics wif artwork one
18R, 2R n 4R albums
bouquet of flowers for ROM n PS
bridal car (FH insist must find BS tat provide car one)
AD photography but not digital one. each roll cost 50 bucks!!!

details cant really rem. FH keeping the receipt.

I didnt go for Whitelink cos bad service from them fr UOB Cashplus makeover...but most likely its bcos its free..so its like tat...
think would be better for wedding couples.

congrats ! sorry i'm missing for so long. my venue and Bs confirmed too..at Meritus Mandarin and BS is Flamingo... Now also fretting over ROM dress and photgrapher for that day...photgrapher for AD confirmed liao.

stay with in laws best. no need to worry hehe ask your FH dun worry lah this is the only chance for him to be the handsomest groom / zhu jiao no chance liao 2010 still a long way can save tons of money by then maybe can buy bungalow liao haha
we are the opposites, we spend spend spend and worry later haha
how about your foto AD flowers and Makeup . think you should have it just make sure
you still have to pay for AD? (50 per roll?) i tawt included

i read about the cashplus thingy also ... aiyah but theres no free lunch in the world, free gown sure they cant be bothered one lah maybe they kanna force to give the free gown so that they get free exposure and advertisement
but also saw some comments from happy brides

I chose Sophia...understand got alot of bad comments fr other BS that I had visited...but so far I feel that they are quite nice lor..the gowns looks grand too

WL advise me to take PS after CNY. Ya .. I read abt the cashplus AFTER I signed up. Indeed I got regret signing up. But FH insist BS are all the SAME, jus tink abt the good comments n forget the bad ones then will make my life easier

The AD flowers and makeup all included. Total 4 times lor. Trial, PS n AD twice. Included is jus the photography service NOT the roll of film. Once the photographer pop open a roll of film I have to pay 50bucks. I feel quite ex so might engaged another one tat take digital pics one.

Btw, my mum call me no need take video during AD. She say waste money and most prob we gonna to dump the DVD somewhere after the dinner. No pt spending 1 or 2k on it. So i also cant decide whether to find videographer on AD anot.

good good i scared they never give you very yuan wang! dun worry about WL lah, just have a good experience can liao every BS got its own fair share of comments, i think its the bride that determines whether it will be a good experience
like that then you might as well hire other AD photographers but how much they will deduct from the pacakge? i think eg using 13 rolls is 500 for those using film and digital is about 900 so far this is what i seen lah from the less hyped photographers

personally, i think must take video leh ... you dun intend to flash video during the dinner for the day event? at least you got memories mah its diff from photos, you will see things you dun get to see

Ermm...One of my frens just chosse margaret brides but it's consider quite costly to me cos it cost her 6k plus without car and actual day photographer.

I have set a budeget of less than 5k and i am glad I did it cos one of my fren's dad is a manager in one of the BS in IMM so I manage to get a REAL gd deal. Anyway, I got an actual day photographer, both gowns MTM, a car and the basic things all for less than 5k..So i am quite pleased with my deal.

As for tips, try to ask as many questions as possible like any hidden cost? How much to develop extra photos? Any actual day photographer and car? The size of the photos cos some only provide 8R.
 
Yeah, 6k w/o car and AD photography IS ex. actually i am looking at a DIY package. so thinking of buying only a WG from the BS. Other services, i'll get from personal contacts. Unlike many brides, i will only be purchasing one WG since mine is a tea reception (no need EG), no need to rent a car (using my own) so i can save quite a bit and splurge the $ on something else. Talking abt budget, im not sure what is a good budget to set for a gown...i actually set it as $2K..but think tat's quite steep. so feel like lowering it to $1K?

Wah, arent u bless! u got contacts with a BS manager! haf u decided wat kind of gown u want? bustier etc? Oh, where will u be holding your wedding dinneR?

mine is not an outdoor wedding.. too warm! i will b melting under the sun! hehe having it in a ballroom in Beaufort.. the ballroom overlooks the sea.. hehe

Looking to hold our wedding in Dec 2006. Haven't chosen a date yet but defintely going for Saturday.

Is it not a good idea to have it on 30th December? Heard that Sporeans tend to go on holiday using Xmas and New year leave together? Or does it really matter?

i haven't decided on venue yet, although have been to a few places..york hotel, carlton, M hotel, grand plaza parkroyal..going to see furama riverfront soon.. =)

Hey Tanel! Your tea reception sounds divine - very relaxed and luscious. I was a very kaypoh bridesmaid for my friends (before I started preparing for own wedding) and from what I have seen at the boutiques, you can get WG for S$1K, depends on your choice of fabric, cut, etc. The choices are a bit limited though.

My FH was thinking of showing our childhood photos as photo montage during the dinner. Actually I also feel if never take video then I cant see the part where my jie-meis 'play' my FH and his xiong-dis part. Tink would be quite very crap n funny. I guess maybe FH is afraid of letting pple see his 'stupidity' during the pick up bride part.

chaiyo! think its a good idea to flash you montage during the dinner but eventually video will be able to capture the moments that you have missed. you can also show your video during the dinner mah i have been to dinners where they flash the montage over and over again .... abit sian sometimes, at least with video you can alternately flash it or whichever way you want

i would take grand copthorne coz its 4* have been there to see the ballroom, the waterfall backdrop one quite nice. But warning to you ... i was quite turn off when i saw the red carpet that they laid torn at the sides!! amara seem to have rave comments about its food, the rest? i dunnoe
not to be a wet blanket, but seriously, i would give ang pao according to the hotel/club in this case i would prob give the most for GWC

-for bs we hv signed with wp and printemps.
-for ad photography we hv signed with beetles chor hui.
hv not settled banquet yet. but we are not very fussy on the differences between various hotels so that helps.
we are hunting hse now. very hard work i think.

For GWC, if u r unable to take the grand ballroom due to the min req of tables then they will give u 3 other function rooms they have. Not as grand of cos! Its 700+ cos they not giving u bridal suite if u booked the function rooms leh ... For me its kinda turn off lor ...

I did went to one of the geomancer call 'huang shifu'. But we only ask him to see for us 25th june good day anot. He said no problem so didnt ask him wat other days we can choose for june. But he did advise us with other dates in other mths that is good for both of us.

regarding the price i not very sure but i guess to have a little standard / market rate they must make it about that price lor yeah 4* remember seeing somewhere in the websites but not sure maybe furama and amara also 4* you can go check

my FH is so in love with them
not taking photohraphy initially chose Andrew CHoi but in the end decided not to do locally pity coz i actually love his works
got Freddie Ong as my MUA asked pat who was the funniest and nicest he suggested Freddie . also heard from goober (TWP bride) that he not bad saw abit of his work at TWP so quite like coz i want light makeup coz i dun normally wear makeup anyway in the end signed up the 3888 package

oh we almost had the same photographer. i chose andrew choi! we hv a diff mua though. i hv chosen leon. i think freddie is prob a gd choice if you are looking for light mu. i don't really like the light natural look so i din choose him.

Mar 11 is a good date coz my sis had her ROM on this date 2 years ago &amp; my cousin too 3 years ago.. what a coincidence!

As for the venue, my FH &amp; I planning to do lunch. I would say it's most likely with Marriott... the wedding planner was so nice &amp; of course their pricing fit our budget. will be meeting the coordinator this Friday for a chat &amp; check out the ballroom setting.

I'm also looking for a photographer for AD, who u using?

as for ur gown, do u intent to buy or rent..If to buy 2k is reasonable for simple designs..if to rent i think 1k is sufficient...

HEY GALs,

I have just booked David LoH for my JP. I thought i was kiasu but guess what? he's already booked for the 1 and 5pm slot. Anyway i taking the 3pm slot. In fact when FH called him, he said he already got booking for November 2006 and that we dun have to be worried about bothering him too early
So advice to all.... faster call him if you want him to be your JP!!

And I keep calling him...cos he hasnt sign the paper...
so pai sey...call almost every few days to every few wks..
