Hi All, Anyone have problem hitting the minmum number of tables on weekend which is 30 tables of 12 = 360 guests? Anyone manage to get Conrad to reduce the number of tables to accomodate probably 300 guests?

hi all,
I am also in a dilemma and considering conrad. Here's what i think:

+ve points:
-exclusive ballroom
-huge and nice foyer area
-high ceiling, grand feel
-like their wedding favor which is their trademark conrad bear

-ve points:
-only has 2 standard themes (champagne and black/red theme) may need to spend more to add and customise
-pricing (the price has in fact increased again recently when we went to meet our cordinator for the 2nd time its nearly $1700 after ++ for table of 12)
-not sure if table of 12 is squeezy for guests

how?? Im still comparing with other hotels and weighing the pros and cons but fact is there can never be something that you are 100% happy with goto weigh which is more impt i guess.

anyone has any feedback abt their themes? too standard? not sure if their florist can do anything additional arrangements.

and last thing to add, they are not very flexi with their perks as well.

Hi Jaslyn .. from what I understand, you may speak with the florist on your expectation and see if they are able to help you with it at no cost of at most with minimal cost. Otherwise, you may bring your own things to enhance the theme. but do check with your coordinator on the possibility first..

Hi, I am a BTB looking at holding my dinner at Conrad next Nov. I've met with a coordinator but while she's answered most of my queries, I'm not too happy with her service. She's professional but too curt for my comfort and I'm concerned that her inflexibility may lead to unpleasantness in the lead-up to the wedding, or even the actual day.

I'd like to get in touch with Eng Yan to see if she can replace my coordinator but not sure if there'll be a conflict i.e. my coordinator will get upset. But I don't want the coordinator to be the reason I strike off Conrad cos my HTB and I really like the place. Any advice?

PS: We noticed that for a min. 30 tables on a Saturday, at least four tables will be blocked from view of the stage and projectors. Did anyone encounter that problem and any guests complain?

Appreciate your feedback if any, thanks!

Cheryl: Hi, I am holding my dinner this Nov. Did not notice the issue of tables being blocked from view of stage and projector. I thought the ballroom is T-shaped and all tables have unblocked view?

wow.. didnt know there is so many activities since i left this forum sometimes back.
Ok.. I held by Wedding Lunch on 3rd December, my coordinator was Eng Yan.
To be frank, I emailed them before I wrote directly to Eng Yan, and it is true, the email responses wasnt too encouraging, and since I already got EY's email on hand, I contacted her directly. Everything was perfect since then. From the day she met me, till the day I paid my downpayment, everything was well explained, we have a couple of good discussion and negotiation.

She also made it very clear to me that I prolly wont hear from her till the day closer to my wedding, which is true because u only need to get into the details of the arrangement abt 1-2 mths before AD.

To answer for the food tasting.. i think u can ask for more pax.. they shd be quite flexible..

Slightly more than a mth before AD, i gotten the room rate from her, to arrange for guest who requested to stay in the hotel. It was a major project because i had like 9 rooms which i need to arrange, and all of them gotta check in at 8am on my AD, even thou it was a full house that Saturday, they didnt reject my early check in request.

Then 1 week before my AD, came a news that EY was going for holiday.. she gotta assigned someone else to oversee my wedding.. (my heart sank), but since everything is more or less settled, I have no complains.. Fortunately, she had gotten her boss to help me with my wedding and I was assigned with a super good Banquet Mgr. My wedding day was almost perfect with no cock up.. Most of my helpers were praising the banquet mgr for his eye for details. I was too busy entertaining guest.. But credit to conrad, it was a near perfect event.. All my guest went home with praises..

Hi everyone, I'm also considering Conrad and just met up with the coordinator recently... just a check if you all have dry ice included in the package?
I'm currently considering crown plaza changi airport as well and will be meeting up with them this weekend... Any feedback on which is better?

need some advise from couples got 30 tables. is it crap? will there be any tables being block or smtg?
hows the food review for conrad so far?
anyone manage to get the AV system rental charges waived off? thanks

I dont think AV systems can be waived. This is because the systems are supplied by Vendors and not conrad themselves. Ballroom is a T shape, so it will not have any blocked view.

Hi Alex. Thanks for the info. How's the food reviews during AD? And what perks u manage to get? I'm still choosing between Conrad n Goodwood... headache sia

Haha..because Goodwood Park's chef recently got investigated for corruption? Just for laugh..
Ok.. on a serious note, actually i been to both GWP (helping my buddy to coordinate) and Conrad (my own wedding). I personally feel that Conrad is still a notch higher becoz they serve a read good Sharksfin, I've my guest asking me if they can top up their Ang Pow coz they thought they paid too little for that bowl of sharksfin.. I dont exactly get perks coz the package is more or less what i needed.

I have not attend any wedding in Conrad n Goodwood before. So to conclude the food is nicer in Conrad? I'm more particular bout the food n service.

One of my friends commented that Conrad served great food. I have scheduled to view the ballroom this weekend. What do you ladies suggest if you had the choice to choose between Conrad and St. Regis?

Hi everyone,

I am a 2014 BTB and am considering the following 4 hotels:

1) Conrad
2) Grand Hyatt The Gallery
3) Four Seasons
4) Crowne Plaza Hotel (I haven't seen the ballroom yet)

So far, I have only seen the ballrooms except for crowne.. Haven't met the sales manager yet.

As I will only have around 20 tables, which venue u think will be most suitable for a luncheon and why?

Appreciate your views on this

Btw any idea when are the wedding shows for these hotels and how many wedding shows a year as I know some hotels have 2 shows a year and some only do it once in a few years.

Any recommended coordinator or sales manager for the 4 hotels are welcome as well

definitely Conrad! I had 21 tables for wedding lunch 2 months ago and the one and only grand ballroom at Conrad was the perfect size. No regrets having my wedding at Conrad, the place now holds beautiful memories for me & and my husband.

Four seasons is more expensive and I think the function room is too small, cannot fit 20 tables and ballroom is too big, they won't let us book for 20 tables. (I may be wrong, my memory fails me sometimes).

I have not checked out Hyatt and Crowne before.

Happy planning for yr wedding.

hi ykie crowne plaza food is below average.. grand hyatt gallery the food is very nice but i dun really like the venue as the deco is too simple.. dun have the wedding feel though more like function room to me. As for conrad ambience wise and food is nice. u can look at sheraton as well.. the food fr li bai is nice. Four Seasons food standard had dropped alrdy.. not as good as before. hope it helps..

Hi pink mouse,

Thanks for your reply and good to know its a positive experience for you. Btw can you all share what are the things to negotiate in a banquet package n what to look out for?? Any perks I can request etx? Which coordinator is yours and good? I just spoke to the sales mgr today and find her ok only.
Also I know e banquet is nett prices... But how come it is subjected to gst n service charges?

Hi valentine,

Thanks for your reply as well. What did u choose in the end? I heard crowne is not fantastic for food but I saw the pictures the ballroom looks nice as well. Also, does sheranton allow 20 tables? How does the ballroom look like? I like 4 seasons bcoz of the windows panel...

hi Ykie, my coordinator was the Senior Assistant Director of Catering Sales coz she was the first contact person I spoke to when I called to enquire rates then and eventually confirmed the banquet with. On the other hand, Eng Yan has got tons of great reviews here in this forum. Perhaps you would like to email her.

The lunch banquet is nett price from the price package. Not sure what you referring to for the GST & Service Charge portion, is it the dinner banquet? I think dinner banquet they quote in ++.

I had nothing much to nego for in Conrad's package probably coz they listed all their perks upfront. I think those were all I needed except projectors which I rented externally(only $180 for 2 sets, so it was really alright) & wines I had to buy my own for the banquet. The only thing i requested for is to increase the no. of food tasting to 10pax.

Thanks!

I juz signed with Conrad for Oct 2013! Din request for anything much too.. Chose Conrad bcoz of the pricing la.. Cheaper than other hotels..

Zhen.. dont think pricing is the key. Yes, conrad might be cheaper, but mainly becoz its a business hotel and seeing less of tourist. It is not as popular if you compare them against the rest of the hotels. Personally I compared against four seasons, they are more expensive, but yet, they are giving much less than Conrad.
