I agree with blackangel55. I had been to Conrad, Sheraton and even Four Seasons, i feel that sheraton is kinda run down, whereas Four Seasons have nice ball rooms. We didnt take Four Seasons, because it simply has too much hidden cost. Ended up signing for Conrad, its too good a venue to miss, and my coordinator Eng Yan is impressive

bem: Conrad has only one ballroom, very exclusive, min 30 tables of 12 for weekends. For 10-20 tables, not very sure, maybe for weekdays is possible?

bem.. 20 tables is the min u can do.

20 x 12 for weedays dinner
20 x 10 for Lunch (weekend and weekdays)
If you are looking for weekend dinner, then it has to be 30 x 12

Alex: I attended the wedding show and saw the 2 new themes, basically the modern black/fushia/red and the classic gold/peach. I prefer the latter.

Bem:I'm also unsure about the poolside venue coz I only went to look at the ballroom as well as room offered by Conrad for solemnisation if needed.

Hi

My name is Jarls Lee from Singapore and I am an undergraduate at a Hospitality Management school in Switzerland. For my undergraduate dissertation, I am looking at the negotiation behaviour of prospective wedding couples looking to hold their wedding banquet at 5-star hotels in Singapore.

Your response is kindly appreciated and will aid in the completion of my paper.

This survey will take up 15-20 minutes of your time.

Thank you.

Hi,

I went to meet up with the wedding coordinator fron Conrad. Usually other hotels will offer additional perks during the meetups. However, Conrad requires us to ask the perks from them. I asked about any credit card promotion with complimentary wine and there is none. There is no increase in complimentary car passes as well. So basically, I did not get any additional perks apart those from the package.

So for BTBs, what are some of the perks you get from the hotel? I am shortlisting this hotel and one other which really gives me very good perks, e.g. additional 24 bottles of wine. So would like to make the final comparision.

My email address is as follows: [email protected]

Any help is appreciated!

Conrad is not like other hotels, offering a lot of perks. It's literally a 5star hotel, you get what you pay for. If they are able to, they will offer; if not, the coordinator will be honest with u. That's the impression I get from my coordinator. But it is this frankness that I really like. Yes, it will definitely be more money, compared to other hotels, but I think depends on your budget and whether u really like the design, ambience of the ballroom and hotel on the whole.

I got 1 free wine per table ( i tink its included as a perk in the package) but no free flow of beer.

During my shopping of banquet with my fiancee, we notice that there are a few pattern that hotel come up with

1. there were those that readily reads out your perks without u asking for it, but the venue aint the best of all and the coord doesnt really makes u feel too good letting them handle your wedding.

2. there were those who tell you, our package is very COMPREHENSIVE and the per table cost is super expensive. They have a nice place, nice name, everything seems perfect, even the proposal seems to be very complete. THEN, when u start asking, oh how come dry ice not included, then they will say, they dont provide dry ice, but if its needed, it will be $100++ for ice, and $420++ for smoke machine rental!

3. The 3rd type belongs to those open book exams type. basically, you dont have to worry about what is not written in the quote. It is quite comprehensive, and nothing much you can request for except maybe some extension of use for day use room and nitty gritty details like food tasting numbers. Otherwise, all cost are put forward so that you will know, and you wont be popped with some crazy hidden cost.. Conrad is one of such hotel.. for those who had emailed me asking for perks that conrad gave, sorry to say, i didnt even ask for it.. coz after going for a couple of hotels, Conrad seems to be the best choice..

The bottom line is, if you are a perk person, Conrad is not the choice. If you are one who simply dont like any hidden cost and wants something comprehensive, Conrad is the place.. and i think everyone here knows, the special thing about conrad is, you gotta pay for your own projectors or bring one yourself

vion, my wedding coord, eng yan, did increase the coplementary carpark coupons + wedding cards during the final countdown to our big day on 1010!
till now, i am still v happy with eng yan's svce. my verdict for the whole event will be out next sun!

hi all,

im a BTB in conrad too... sad to say, my coord may not be as generous as eng yan... other than what was written on the contract, there seems to be no more room for negotiation... No increase in wedding cards invites... no offer for additional booking of rooms...

for those who seriously is not into perks, yes, conrad may be the place to be... but for those typical couples who wishes to receive more 'help' from the hotel coord, conrad may not be the place...

my big day is over and i have nothing but praises for eng yan.
she forced us to have a march in despite our reluctance to do it and we're glad we did it afterall.
she is really thoughtful and accommodating to all our needs.
aripin, our banquet manager ran the entire lunch very well and the waitresses and waiters did an awesome job.
the portions for the food were huge and the food was very tasty!!!!
sharks' fins alone was enough to fill one's stomach.
lucky lucky us for having our wedding on 101010 and really, it was a perfect 10!!!!

i can't remember who was person i spoke to at Conrad but before site inspection, was offered the following :
1) price is fixed can't neg
2) corkage $20++ for wine and champagne
3) 10 extra carpark coupon (apparently worth $10 each)
4) throw in day room
5) 2nights stay instead of 1 night..it wasn't the bridal suite, it was 1 more class higher (but with small bathroom)

-ve point of conrad
1) 6ft table seats 12pax instead of 10pax compared to other hotels
2) no projector

+ve point
1) close proximity to 2 mrt

Hi Eileen,

Price per table is always fixed if i am not wrong cos they r not small scale restaurant that allows u to haggle.
However, u can always lay down your cards for whatever items u r not please with and see if there's room for nego, of course not by over doing it. At the end of the day, if u think they can't accede to most of your requests then look elsewhere.

Lastly, if u r really keen to take up their package, n not wanna rent their projector cos of the exorbitant price, i can give u contacts for rental outside cos i did the same over there too.

Hi Samuel,

Nah...i went to Fullerton instead, didn't haggle price with Fullerton or other hotels. No point i guess and total cost was almost the same between Conrad vs Fullerton vs Shangri La. The main pulling factor, same 6ft table sits 10 instead of 12....might have pudgy guests so have to be considerate. Also, the loft suite at Fullerton just won me over.

Samuel: hi, I'll be having mine at Conrad next nov, wondering if u could share with me the experience of renting projectors from outside? Coz I worry tat hiccups might happen n external vendors might not b there to help; at least rent directly from Conrad they can assure everything n give us peace of mind? Could u email me the contacts n roughly how much is it? [email protected] thanx!

Does Conrad allows duty free alcohol? I know they say upright no duty free alcohol but I heard my friends said they did bring in duty free alcohol in other hotels.. I'm not sure about conrad

Hi all, am wondering how sticky is conrad towards the food tasting session? it says we can invite 5 pax. but HTB & me + both sets of parents alrdy 6 pax right?

i do agree their package is very comprehensive cos things like day room use is even included in package! like WOW. usually other hotels don't present this upfront.

how much deposit is required when i first book and if the banquet bill settlement upon check-out? i know some hotels collect 50% deposit etc.

i am planning for June 2012, wonder if 200pax is enough to meet their min. for saturday? sigh. 200pax is so difficult to get a venue, either can't meet min. for most hotels weekend or too many to fit into their smaller rooms.

Hi Desher, i think Alex has uploaded the package details a few posts earlier. You can download from that link for both dinner and lunch packages.

Just to update - Conrad's min. is 200pax on Saturday. 20 tables of 10pax each. And their payment is 4k deposit and the rest upon check out after AD.

Hi yleileen, for me, i didn't ask for anniversary dinner and will be buying wines outside. Conrad's package seems quite comprehensive. But maybe if u do not need some items in yr package, you can ask to trade-in for something else. e.g. forego wedding favors for free projector

Hi,

Can I ask if anyone can share the banquet price for wedding dinner at Conrad in 2011? Is Fri considered a weekday or weekend?

pinkmouse

Member
Fri is considered a weekend. Banquet price for conrad in 2011 likely to follow 2010 rates for now, unless they have new rates released. So weekend should be $1288++. Weekday $1088++. dates btwn 1 Sep to 31 Dec 2011 will be additional $50++ per table.

I went for a wedding dinner there last weekend. Thumbs up for the food! The only bad bit is that the crew were very slow in topping up the drinks. Had to ask them a few times to top up my Sprite throughout. =|
However, the managers were very attentive and observant, and went out of the way to make guests happy. Eg. One of them observed that a guest who was not touching the food (due to seafood allergies) and enquired why. When he found out the reason, he made special arrangements for two of the dishes to be without prawns specially for that guest. Very impressive service!

Love the comments posted here, really helpful. Esp to Samuel about the projector! that's a huge savings considering that conrad charges $500 for 2 projectors (they said its outsourced so it can't be waived)

Compared the packages that others has offered, seems quite comprehensive, except no wine and no projectors, or welcome mocktails/dry ice.
Like to check if the champagne pyramid is included in the package? I didnt see it indicated in the lunch packages. Thought its quite standard?

I'm considering btw Oriental, Goodwood and Conrad..

Hi,

I have booked my banquet on 05 Dec 2011 with an excellent coordinator, Eng Yan. She is a very nice, accommodating and professional staff. She explains all the details and is upfront of the costs and the constraintssuch as duty free hard liquors are prohibited.

Hi,
I agree with Albert...
I'm about to confirm my banquet, with Eng Yan too. Haven't met her personally yet but so far the correspondence through mail and phone has been wonderful. =) looking forward to meeting up with her!

I signed up with Conrad after reading about all the raves about the staff but I'm beginning to regret a little.

I have to first clarify that Eng Yan is not my coordinator at Conrad. Perhaps if she is, I wouldn't be so unhappy. I just feel that the follow-up is not prompt enough and when I email them, the response takes too long (again my own judgement). And it's so difficult to meet up with the coordinator after signing on the dotted line and paying the deposit. Maybe it's just me and my rantings but I do wish to see a greater sense of urgency, just like when I first emailed to enquire about their packages. Again, this is just my feelings right now. Most couples seem happy with their services.

Hmm maybe they missed your email? From my understanding, the discussion will start only few months before the wedding. But of course, they should get back to you if there's some doubts before then. Is your wedding date coming soon?

Eng Yan has been pretty prompt in her responses but there are times when she was so busy that I had to resend my mails haha... But it's so far so good =)
