Anyone keen on the date 29 Nov 15 (Sunday) wedding lunch at Conrad?

Pls PM contact me! :)

Frankly speaking, it is quite hard to negotiate for extra perks. Perhaps except for additional carpark coupons, function room for ROM/tea ceremony etc.

Cocktail no one offer us drinks even various eye contact. Till we walk forward to ask for it. The soft drinks are not chilled and it seems like it have been thr for a very long time.

During dinner, the middle aged woman who served us are pretty rude. Not smiling at all (like those service u got from coffeeshop). I requested them to refill our drinks for 3 times then they refill. When i asked for a spoon, she question me back. Why do u need a spoon? Zzzz

It seems like they are untrained, maybe those brides to be gotta take note? Anyway, just sharing my experience. Overall the hotel looks decent and parking is good for a wedding lunch.

Yes I am! I heard so many good things about Conrad. my ex-boss, ex-colleagues, friends who have attended...

If this is so it is so disappointing

I like Conrad ballroom, our coordinator was Eng Yan. I saw great reviews on here so I was quite happy. But she is the reason why we didn't sign with her, we went with Intercon instead.
I find Eng Yan very inflexible and sometimes her reply is quite sarcastic and proud with the 'if you want a bargain don't come here' attitude. I don't think we were reasonable, we requested to change the flower decor a bit cause its quite plain and she said its extra $1500 to change the rose color, if you want to add more roses then it'd be additional. For the food menu too, we wanted to add some dishes and remove some dishes, for the dishes we remove, there was no deduction, but dishes we want to add need to pay extra $8-12 per pax.
No extension of ballroom timing, no extra rooms, no upgrade of bridal suite, strictly extra 5% of coupons only even though the hotel owns the carpark, no dancefloor, no backdrop even projector also need to pay money. Conrad is also quite out dated and the wedding favors only have the bear and chocolate.
So we were deciding between conrad and intercon, and I told her intercon is allowing us to choose any flower color and arrangement, food changes no charge, free 2 rooms, free anniversary stay, about 5 wedding favors to choose from, addition of dance floor, backdrop at no extra charge etc. She said 'oh you pay me what you pay intercon lo'. I would gladly do that since what she is charging is way more than what shang is asking for. Conrad anniversary gift is a dinner voucher worth $120.
If at the beginning without signing got so many issues, imagine what will happen when we plan the wedding? I also wrote to Lolita Kuek who is the director of catering to complain about her.

May I know who booked Conrad on 12 Dec for dinner? Mine is lunch. Conrad is strict on the license/permit for playing songs/video. We have to apply the permit and it costs abt $100+... This permit is good for a day, if you are reading this. PM me. Can share the permit and the cost!

how are the negotiations of perks with her? im still in the midst of doing so...
Conrad doesn't have much leeway for more perks as their price already quite competitive. For us, we didn't want the free flow beer as most of our guests will be from church and we don't drink alcoholic beverages nor do we encourage drinking. For that, we managed to get one extra night stay, more car park coupons, some upgrades to our pre Wed cocktail reception, 2 more Pax for food tasting. And free projector usage priced at $500

Actually I find that it is weird for a hotel not to provide free projectors, especially for Conrad who is a business hotel.

Yea! I also think so. It is the only hotel I have gotten information that they will charge for projector usage. But the manager told me it is because their price already very competitive.

Hi,

I'm a Conrad bride and we are having our lunch banquet in May next month. Eng Yan is my coordinator and contrary to what some commented about her here, I found her providing us with impeccable and professional service. I'm not related to Eng Yan but feel that I should stand up for her in case some brides-to-be misunderstand Eng Yan is rude and uncompromising. She tries to accommodate our requests whenever she can, for instance providing us a day use room for helpers, function room for our tea ceremony and increasing the number of people for food tasting and car coupons to a certain extent. She is really very fast to reply my emails. For instance, when I emailed her to ask a question that evening, she will reply that same night too. I don't have any experience with her being sarcastic. Thus far, my husband and I are satisfied with Eng Yan's service. Anyone signing up with conrad can consider asking for her. :)

Hi PhilipOPC,

I'm not Eng Yan and neither am I related to her. You can always check with Conrad to see if there's a wedding lunch by Sally and James in May next month. I think everyone is entitled to his or her views or opinions, to me, I really don't think Eng Yan is giving us bad service. Thus, that's why I put up my post here. Hope this clarifies.

I have checked with Conrad and they told me they are unable to divulge the information sought. Guess 'Sally and James' is under your account, Ms Eng Yan.

Well if people are so free they could always check out Conrad every week in May to see if there's any Sally and James every week lol
But at least she told us what perks we can get which is better than nothing

LOL because I think day use room and increasing the number of ppl for food tasting is out of range.....
Yes, I can attest to it! But maybe it depends on the date they're looking at? But yea, seems doubtful....
I got myself an extra night stay (day use room converted) +2 pax for food tasting + complimentary use of their chargeable projector ($500) + additional car park coupons. That's only because I'd exchanged those with the free flow beer option (owing to religious reasons, we didnt want alcoholic beverages served).
I remember Catheryn (my coordinator) did mention that Conrad is very strict on their perks because their price is already very competitive.

Yup same. I had liaised with Catheryn before and she did say that they are very strict on their perks. What we didn't like was the chargeable projector usage when other hotels gave it complimentary....but besides that I think the ballroom is really nice. Love the piano too.

Any other BTBs considering conrad and have started negotiating w them? Do share on the perks u r able to get TIA!
I did a spreadsheet before for 2015 wedding lunch: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1GzVRkjG6Pky_VGTFB_bjTqXUNlRoMwUCSAIjVSje8ws/edit?usp=sharing

we picked Conrad. There's really not much leeway. but coz we chose not to have the free flow beer for our banquet (religious reasons), we exchanged it for the free use of 2 LCDprojector sposed to be chargeable at SGD500 + gst, 10% more complimentary carpark passes on confirmed attendance, convert one day room to one extra night stay with free breakfast for 2, +2 more pax for food tasting charged at SGD100nett per pax, free use of Salon Room for tea ceremony and solemnisation from 11am-12pm for max 40 pax,

I am considering Conrad for my wedding lunch next year. Appreciate if any of you could recommend me any good coordinator and her direct contacts.

Pretty sad that there is no wine in the package.. even LCD projector also need money to rent.. so it will be good if you could advise on any additional perks negotiated too.

Thanks!

Just my two cents on Conrad :)
We haven't hold our dinner yet but we visited mostly all the hotels in that area!

Ritz Carlton - pure arrogant (even reception, 6star hotel but horrid service)

Marina Mandarin - ok with the hotel, coordinator very sincere in serving us ... But main ballroom has an awful smell (min. 35 tables) the other ballroom is good with own foyer buttt too small (max 20tables)
Food wasn't as good (based my experience during my friend
Luncheon

Pan pacific - yet to enquire :/

Mandarin Oriental : it is our top choice
Great ballroom (but sat dinnner req min.35 tables :/)
Food is excellent
Ambience is great ! Rom can be done at pool which is facing MBS, fullerton, floating platform - excellent views)
Coordinator slightly slower than Conrad :/ but perks not bad (bridal room only facing suntec :( )

Swissotel- equinox
If you want views, this is it ! BUT
Max 18tables only :(
Food wise ok, but not that filling :/

Fairmont : Can consider
Sales manager very sincere when serving us and everything there seems excellent
From table settings, lightings to food display (based on wedding showcase)
BUT because previously theres a mishap from that area hence my parents opt that out :( such a pity hor

CONRAD (FINALLY HOR) - sherrie is our contact person and I think she is the sales manager ! Excellent service from her; invite us to the cafe in the lobby, ask if we want any softdrinks (foc), bring us ard the hotel and ballroom.

Sincere and reverts fast ! Never seem to be frustrated (we keep enquiring on different dates) but she's patient enough :)

Perks, they might be alittle inflexible ! But 2 nights bridal suite can be done
Free spa (mandarin oriental giving it thou)
30% parking
Free flow beer all can be negotiated and done :)

Hope it helps :/

Hi there, thanks for the comments! My SA is also Sherrie who is very nice. Trying to negotiate for free flow of beer for dinner too! But their min tables for dinner is 30 tables and its 12 seater so that's the only reason I scare might not fulfil and resulting in lots of losses..
Did you take up with Conrad?

Hi,

Actually mine still a long way to go so still choosing hotels :/
Btw, actually you can op for conrad as only conrad and sheraton towers offers pax of 12? (trust me you wouldn't want sheraton towers)

Imagine some other hotels require min. 35 but table of 10 = 350 people
Conrad 30 x 12 = 360 people (u can invite another 10 more people to cover for angbao)

But I'm not too sure how many pax are you looking at thou but its one of the main reason I'm considering !

Many forums do state the ang bao rates and conrad is one of the highest (im sure relatives/friends will do a check on angbaos so based on the ang bao rates and its $ 180 so shld be okay ba)

Me too also hope I won't lose money :/ but it really depends on the guest list liao :/

Thanks Tingzcrown! Ur wedding next year? Better book soon cos mine is nov 2016 but most of the hotels on my hot dates are taken despite 1.5 years in advance booking!
Most likely Conrad is my option because of the sole ballroom and high ceiling plus food also not bad. Just that I am afraid the more pax invited the more losses because not everybody will give the market rate.. Haha..
