Hi all BTBs! I'm a Oct 19 BTB, but I am having trouble deciding the venue for my wedding dinner.

I should have only about 20-25 tables and Dad prefers doing it in a hotel but I noticed many have min 25 or 30 tables requirement. Any recommendations?

I am also doing my PWS in Penang, any BTB has experience with photographers and bridal boutiques in Penang or MY in general? I will be having two weddings, 1 in JB and 1 in SG, so preferably the PWS photog can help me on my JB dinner as well. SG I only need preparations for AD (a week after JB).

Thanks in advance ladies!

Having wedding dinners on both sides is really so much more work :(:(

Hi, you can consider Marina Mandarin Hotel Vanda Ballroom as their minimum is 20 tables and maximum 30 tables, just nice fits your requirement and the price per table also happens to fall below your budget price. I'm having my wedding dinner there this Nov and reason why I chose it is because of privacy, the entire corridor outside will be yours to decorate as you do not need to share with other wedding couples unlike the ballrooms downstairs or at other hotel venues.

Holding our wedding in JB definitely saves us quite a bit, but mainly because his family is all in JB, so pretty inconvenient for them to come in. And likewise, hard for my family and friends to all go over. Plus, dad being dad, wants to invite his friends and all also I am actually just a calefare on my AD. Hahah!

Intercontinental is actually in my list for site visit! I guess I can only decide after looking at the actual venue and probably also how comfortable the coordinator makes us feel.

Hi, I just confirmed Hotel intercontinental for my dinner in June 2019. I like the tall ceiling and that they have only one ballroom. They have a promotion that just started in July. You can check it out.

I did consider Marina Mandarin but got some feedback from friends that their food is only so-so, that's why didn't shortlist them in the end.

I've sent them an email to see when I can pop by to take a look at their ballroom, waiting for their reply. :)

Hi, Les Marieez Galerie is good (feedback from friends who have engaged their service). It is based Ipoh but they do cover other areas and overseas photoshoot.

For Penang, u can try momento.

I haven't tried their food but my friend who attended a wedding there recently told me their food was good so maybe it's taste preference. Going to try it for myself next month during the food tasting

By the way, care to share where you girls get your engagement and wedding bands from?

I went to check out Love & Co. with HTB and their price is quite reasonable, but am also considering Fairyinc and JannPaul.

Jannpaul!!! You won’t regret it. Very reasonable price, superb quality and bling.

Hi! Apparently for my dialect's tradition, the bride's parents are supposed to give the groom a full set of suit (including shirt and pants) so I guess that sort of settles for the groom. But I'm not sure if bridal shops actually take into consideration such customs.:D

The shops I go to also only rent jackets. HTB will make his own shirt and pants. I think he’s happy to tailor make the shirt and pants as it will fit better.

Hey babes, didn’t receive the notification that my post got answered. Thank you very much for sharing :)

Hey girls, any one knows how to contact InterContinental for site visit? Emailed them twice (the general wedding inquiry email) but no one got back to me yet.

Hi all! My HTB is a Catholic and I am not. His dream is to have a church wedding and do solemnization + photo shoot in it, my mom wants tea ceremony in the morning and his mom wants a dinner banquet. Wondering if anyone planning to do everything in one day? Can you share your itinerary? Because I am quite worried if I have time to do everything.

One concern is that I stay in the very East and he stays in the very West of SG. And my mom say must serve tea at Groom's place first then Bride's place... so a lot of travelling...

Hi! I'm doing everything in one day! Except my tea ceremony only involves my side of the family, HTB's side will be settled the weekend before in JB.

My itinerary for that day will be a simple gatecrash (since it'll already be done the week before as well), then tea ceremony before proceeding to church for solemnisation and reception. Will head to the hotel thereafter and prepare for the dinner.

Nice!! Is your church and hotel near to each other? That will save a lot of time and hassle.

Wow! Sounds really challenging >.<

Can you do tea ceremony before heading over to hubby side? Any time constraints for the day?
Not sure abt the tradition whether can do that anot but you can think abt that?

Besides that what time is your Church Ceremony? I heard that it’s usually take quite long?

Oh so not everyone do this? As in the guy side first then bride's side thing.
Would be best if can serve tea at my side first. Need to talk to HTB about it... Keeping my fingers crossed that they not picky about this.

Maybe can discuss with both side parents? How traditional is his parents? if he’s catholic I doubt he’ll be particular abt which side do the tea ceremony first?
By right shud be husband side first I think. But I’m not very sure.
Just thinking in your situation due to the short of time, whether can explore that or not.

Actually if can nego with ur mum to do tea ceremony altogether at the banquet venue before dinner reception would save u a lot of time. Or if ur mum insist to do it in the morning, you can do tea ceremony at your side first while ur HTB’s side at the venue before dinner.

I’m planning to go JB’s bridal shop to look see look see for AD package because I heard they have pretty gowns and standard package is about $1k - $1.5k SGD!

Any brides got any same sentiments or been through some to see already?

Hello, my wedding was 2 weeks ago & we got our package from JB. Although th price was cheap 2500rm for 3 gowns (2 white + 1 evening), 1 kua, 2 suits & 2 father’s jacket. But i wouldn’t really recommend my bridal boutique because of some hiccups and i felt kinda cheated along th way because initally they promise 4 gowns bfore we signed & didn’t honor it in th end as there wasn’t black&white.. Well, its over but if you don’t mind th hassle, its great bargain as compared!

Hello BTBs,
Need help/ suggestions on wedding lunch/dinner venue.
Looking for venues which can cater below 20 tables and of affordable price (below 1k/table).

Checked on rates for Ban Heng/ Qian Xi etc but theirs min. are 25 table.

Appreciate if you can share if you have similar plans or came across such venue.

Thank you!
You can try looking out for hotel jen tanglin or furama riverfront hotel. I think their rates are around th range you’re looking at. Otherwise, novotel clarke quay’s lunch on weekends are slightly above what you’re looking at.

Thanks for sharing! Oh dear so sorry to hear that. When you sign up didn’t you request for a black & white on your receipt or something? Or you just trusted them too much?

I didn’t get to find 2500rm maybe because I haven’t bargain at all? Cheapest is 3000rm with 2 gowns (1 white + 1 evening), 2 suits (without pants, say normally groom wear their own brand new), 2 father jackets, bouquet, bridal car deco. If want add one more gown is +500rm.

And for most, if u take their full wedding pkg (photoshoot + AD) it’s about 5-6k rm. so will want to make you just top up another 1-2k rm for Photoshoot since it’s more worth it.

Oh well. How about the gown selection in your care? Some bridal shops really limited and meh..

I’m also thinking about this! Most of the bridal shops have limited suit selection and none really catch our eye. May tailormade for groom and rent gown for bride.

Saw some places promotion what $299,$399 can have whole suit tailored. But of cos I think the material is so so kind.

Hello, i held 2 weddings late june, 1 in sg & 1 in kl. If you’d need recommendations on mua, pg or vg. Lemme know, as i hired my pg & vg for my sg AD from jb, also had a separate mua for KL.

Been wedding couples, you know, for th first time you would trust tht they’ll write th details down when you sign.. but it’s not always th case. So dear girls, please make sure they really do. It always happens, its all sales tactic afterall..

My hub bargained for it. As we had someone else in sg taking care of bridal bouquets, car decors & corsages, th price was reduced from 3k plus to 2.5k. It’s not one of th bridal boutiques near th customs, so i guess it’s cheaper?

Honestly, we did bargain quite a fair bit & we thought th price was really cheap. We did enquire with a few sg bridal boutiques & all were 2k - 4k just for gowns & suits alone. We thought it was a ripped off.

Th bridal boutique had bout 4 racks of gowns in various colours? They did allow me to try bfore commitments. Suits on th other hand were rather limited.

I wouldn’t say it’s a bad decision we’ve made, because th lady did introduce an awesome pg & th pg introduced another awesome vg couple for our AD. & th price? Unbeatable. I’d doubt anyone of such standards are offering tht price & most importantly, everyone (guest & family members) were very very pleased with their service. I guess there were some blessings in disguse.

Ohh.. sorry to hear abt the bad experience with the bridal studio. I’m glad things turned out for the better for you! Mind sharing which you took in PM? Actually I’m considering taking up one in JB too. Not sure if near customs or not.

We’ll be having 2 sides too!! In sg for bf side and kl for mine lol. But in kl will be more like just dinner. Still deciding on the num of tables cuz my mum and dad are not on talking terms. So having headache on whether to have both sides together or intimate dinner separately ‍♀️

Hi and congrats all! I booked my banquet at Novotel for June 2019 and now looking at bridal studios. But still can’t decide if I should book separate for PWS and AD photographer or package it up as offered by the studios.

Any recommendations?

I’m about to shortlist Thomson wedding collection and the gown warehouse. Any other suggestions?

Hello mschong, i went with the bridal package for PWS&AD as we wanted the save the hassle of finding. So our package may be more expensive than booking separately. Also, we are unable to choose our photographer so i guess it depends on our luck how our photos turn out. *fingers crossed*

Which studio did you choose in the end?

So actually booking separately will save abit compared to packages offered by them?

Actually booking separately will usually cost more, just that you get to choose everything you want. Taking package will be fuss free and cheaper but restricted to the options they offer: gowns, suits, PG, MUA, flowers

35mins for Tea Ceremony is ok. Would you be changing to Kua before going back for Tea Ceremony at Bride's family?
If yes - then need to cater for extra time.

I agree booking seperate may cost more unless you have time you nego with everyone. Be sure to firm in your behavior right from the start with your bridal shop, as their resources are shared, especially in terms of gowns, PG and MUA - if you are too easy going, they may try to push back your expected time for the gowns to be ready, also the MUA start time, in favor of others.

They are very popular with office crowd too :) You can find tons of great reviews on Hardwarezone on them too :)

Hey guys! Sorry for the late reply. I don't have an AD yet (checking which church available) but we plan to hold the ceremony next June.

Good news is that my FPIL seems to be okay with tea ceremony just before the banquet. So most probably it will be church →tea ceremony at hotel→banquet for us.

Starting to feel some progress!

Hi Stitchys, my hubby tailor made his suit in Bangkok, really cheaper with good quality, if you’re planning to travel there anytime soon, definitely should visit the tailor.

It was 8500baht (around $370) for 1 set of 2pcs suit (1 blazer, 1 shirt, 1 pant), additional 1 shirt, 1 pant, 1 tie. Collect next day. It’s just at Amari Watergate. The quality and fitting are good. Convenient and easy too, collection next day, can do amendment if measurement is not right.

Will need to drag HTB there lol
He’s not a fan of bkk. Maybe can persuade him for a short trip.
