The Biggest 2025 Wedding Trends Are Ultra Experiential, Full of Surprises, and More Anti-Bride than Ever

We dive into the 19 biggest wedding trends for 2025, which is looking like a year full of surprises, ultra personalisation, and hyper-focus on experiences.

This past year, we’ve been seeing some amazing new wedding trends emerge as couples go all out to make weddings a whole experience for their guests. From big, bold colours, to upgraded experiences and incredibly personal touches, one thing is for sure for weddings in 2025, couples and vendors are leaning into creative and experiential ideas to surprise and delight their guests. Weddings in 2025 will be all about personality and the couple’s unique story, but also do more to elevate guest experience and make sure they have fun. Couples are increasingly asking, “How can we make our wedding about us AND our guests?” We’ll see cool themes, engaging games, and very personal touches in 2025 weddings. Here are some of the biggest wedding trends we’ve spotted for 2025.

Ultra Individualised Wedding Trends

1. Multiple Events

Why have one party when you can have several? More couples are opting to celebrate with multiple wedding events over multiple days or even different weekends, to cater to different groups of people. From intimate dinners with close friends, to private first looks with just the wedding party, to cultural ceremonies that celebrate heritage, to huge banquet receptions for everyone else, multiple wedding events are a great way to include everyone while keeping the vibe for each event exactly how you want it.

2. Ultra Personalised

The wedding celebrations may be getting bigger, but couples find increasingly unique ways to make events feel small and personal. With thoughtful guest experiences and personal touches such as custom personalised drinks for each guest or handwritten notes, weddings become more and more meaningful.

3. Anti Bride

Emerging in the past couple of years, the growing anti-bride trend rebels against wedding conventions and instead celebrates their individuality and personal style. Anti-brides do and wear whatever they want! “This trend emphasises authenticity, where the couple’s unique personalities and love story take centre stage,” says wedding stylist Lily & Co.. “Weddings will become more intimate and meaningful. And as stylists, we would incorporate the use of personal photos, keepsakes, and mementos as part of the decor, with each personal touch being a reflection of the couple’s shared life and love.”

4. Eclectic Styling

More and more, couples are breaking the mould on traditional wedding styling. Going beyond romantic and elegant, we see more eclectic styling that express couples’ bright and colourful personalities. Let your style shine with hyper-modern acrylic to uber bright colour palettes.

“Couples are not afraid to break traditional boundaries and inject their own personalities into the styling of their weddings,” agrees Eufloria. “We have been exploring and playing a lot with materials and finishing, such as holographic or iridescent acrylic backdrops. Injecting elements like disco balls, LED tube lights, large bows (in place of standard ribbons décor) have been popular choices with couples as they love “more is more”. These styles are reminiscent of the Y2K era, which is bold, loud, playful and retro-futuristic.”

5. Groovy, Baby

Nostalgia is still big in the wedding scene, with shifts from The Great Gatsby to Bridgerton and local memories. “This retro, eclectic type of styling brings back the mood of the 80s’ and 90s’ loud fashion,” shares Eufloria.”These were the decades in which our couples grew up, hence there have been numerous requests to set up a “mama shop”, which usually acts as a photo-viewing gallery and doubles up as an activity during the cocktail reception where guests are free to “shop” and bring home their favourite childhood memorabilia, snacks, and toys.”

6. Fruity Fresh

In a nod to growing sustainability and organic consciousness, we see fruit and vegetables being part of many wedding floral and styling arrangements, adding depth and colour to the look.

7. Pet-Friendly Weddings

Many couples have pets that are a big part of their story, especially if they’re living together and raising furkids. We see more and more pets being included in the wedding celebrations, as flower dogs or kitten bouquets, and with more venues being pet-friendly, we expect this wedding trend to stick around for 2025.

8. Wedding Day Newsletter

Couples are designing wedding day newsletters in the nostalgic print newspaper style, heralding their nuptials and detailing the events of the day, or share more about the story.

9. Aesthetic Wedding Dress Codes

Guests have become part of the overall wedding look, and wedding dress codes reflect the couple’s desire for a uniform aesthetic for their wedding day. Expect more thematic wedding dress codes in 2025, with very specific instructions, examples given, or even colour palettes to adhere to.

Wedding Party Trends

10. Mix and Match Bridal Party

The mix and match trend for bridal parties has almost become the norm, especially with this generation of couples’ focus on individuality and self-expression. Mixing and matching allows bridesmaids to dress in a silhouette that flatters their particular body type while the whole squad still looks cohesive. The resulting look feels fresher and more modern, with the varying hues or even prints creating beautiful wedding portraits.

11. Mixed Gender Wedding Party

Another common wedding party-related trend is for mixed gender bridal parties and groom parties, with best women or men of honour mixed in as well.

12. Wedding Party First Look

Some couples are involving their wedding parties in their first look, and sharing this special moment with their closest friends can make it more memorable.

Experiential Wedding Trends

13. Guest Surprises

We love how thoughtful couples are becoming of their guests’ enjoyment and comfort. Beyond providing good food, couples are getting creative about ways to delight guests with a fun and memorable moment. DIY cocktail kits and wedding favour stations are some of the novel ways we’ve seen couples engage their guests.

14. Dance Off

More often than not, weddings now wind up on the dance floor, with many couples opening the floor with a choreographed first dance, often followed by an after party or cultural dance off between the bridesmaids and groomsmen.

15. Mirror Selfies

Couples are creating more gram-worthy moments with mirrors, from welcome signage mirrors to mirrors dedicated to your fit check.

16. Banquet Reception Games

Move over, childhood montage. For the reception entertainment, couples are hosting fun games that get guests out of their seats. From lucky draws to custom Bingo to funny elements like rubber duckies, banquet reception games are a great way to personalise a big banquet.

Wedding Photography Trends

17. Blurry Action Photography

A rising trend in wedding photography, blurred action shots captures the energy and magic of your special day–the way your dress flies in the wind as you run hand in hand, the blurred faces of your loved ones laughing so hard they’re falling on the floor. Couples are drawn to the feeling of authenticity and “love drunk” quality of the blurred action photography style, and we see this trend growing in the coming year.

18. Lifestyle Meets Wedding Formal

Pre-wedding portraits step out of the scenic sunrises and into moodier and edgier lifestyle shots. Think eating cup noodles from a convenience store in your wedding finery, or shopping for snacks at the grocery store in your bridal gown and suit.

19. Film Photography Style

Film photography is also a rising wedding photography trend, with the signature grainy look creating a feeling of authenticity and timelessness for couples.
