Angie and Horng Perng’s Rustic Bohemian Wedding at Open Farm Community
Angie and Horng Perng exchanged their vows in the garden wedding of their dreams at Open Farm Community.
Angie and Horng Perng met in high school when they were 14 years old and got to know each other through a project competition. It was Horng Perng who first expressed interest in Angie but it was only five years later that she reciprocated his feelings. After a sweet proposal in Seoul, the pair tied the knot in the garden wedding of their dreams at Open Farm Community, surrounded by their family and friends, and their beloved pet dog, Yogurt.
What is it about your partner that you love the most?
Angie: I love that he is responsible in all aspects of his life, from family, friends and to his work.
Horng Perng: I love her kindness. Whenever she tells me stories about how she helps her patients at work, she is always so happy and excited.
What was the proposal like?
Angie: Horng Perng booked a yacht but sadly, COVID-19 hit him so he had to do it during our trip in Seoul. While visiting a public library in Seoul, he knelt down in the park outside of the library. He thought it was beautiful as it was under a full bloom cherry blossom tree.
Tell us about your wedding. Where was your wedding venue and why did you choose it as the place to wed?
I have always dreamt of a garden wedding. Wheeler’s Estate was initially my first choice, however due to its inconvenient location, eventually we settled for Open Farm Community. We had an amazing event coordinator (Ms Siti) and the venue had a great location (near our home and central), and pet friendly – those were the main reasons why we chose it.
Did you have a wedding theme? If yes, what was it and how did you achieve it?
My wedding theme is rustic bohemian. The location itself already helped us to achieve half of what we wanted without doing much. We love the greenery, chickens running around and of course, their meals with home grown plants. We also engaged Flora Artisan to set up the lawn for solemnisation and I have requested to customise the color with a pop of burgundy and orange terracotta to give the rustic vibes.
Take us back to your wedding day. What was the day like and how were you feeling?
We were feeling worried because it was a rainy week and it drizzled in the morning too. We were told to be prepared that the solemnisation will be shifted indoors if the rain pours. Thankfully, the sun came out and the weather was perfect.
What did your family/friends have to say about your wedding day?
They love it! Yogurt’s appearance as a ring bearer definitely brought big smiles to everyone. Many guests think that a garden style wedding and western dining courses are refreshing and fun as compared to a traditional banquet wedding.
Share with us the most memorable moment of your wedding?
Definitely the moment our dog, Yogurt came in as a ring bearer. He was so well behaved and handsome on that day and we couldn’t be more proud as a pawrents.
What is one lesson you’ve learned from your wedding planning that you’d like to share with other couples?
Relax and have lots of wine on that day.
