the jitters you have been waiting for a long long time hehe. my friend told me the jitters will wane off on the AD, if not earlier cos the bride will betoo bz going through all the rituals. BUT the jitters will come back full force during the march-in. i think when it's my turn, my knees will probably be doing the "kallang wave" *lol*

i think the brides here are all so uptight about the wedding.. come on ladies.. relax and enjoy like what i did =)

Annannx2, I visited Shanghai, nice place....
I guess why brides are uptight cos we need to juggle work, handling parents(both sides), chinese customs thingy to handle n all minor stuff tat requires ur attention....pressed for time but limited time to complete lor. But as time passes, everything will fall in place.

i also took OH for my AD. i think my co-ordinator is quite good.

xueling had been helpful to my request except that the standard contract issue is a bit too bias towards the favor of OH. had send a email to ask them to change some terms so maybe other brides and grooms must read the contract meaning carefully.

i seen the bridal suite, it is not bad, in fact is very big ! and they offered a helper's room for my AD as well.

xueling told us that the wedding cake had to be kept for one whole year and the cake is really coated with a big layer of Suger !

i am taking ballroom 1 and 2, thou did not meet the requirement, but they still kindly offered that to us.

had a long chat with the director of catering when i was there also, i think she is very experience so i think maybe i need to learn more from the brides here on how they are being unfair??
 
Hi, anybody had their dinner at ballroom 3?
I would like to know whether guests will have difficulty seeing the montage if the screen is placed at the partition. Any advice on where to place the screen, ie stage or partition?

Problemgal, maybe you would like to discuss with ur coordinator? From wat i know, it is at the stage and may not be able to move around. Best if you could check it with them.

thanks airin. I'v just finished my dinner. Service was good and fast. And yes, definitely placing the screen on stage is better, thou it will block any deco on stage...

I did my own first montage..

hi all, i had my wedding dinner at OH last sat. Tot of dropping some tots of my experience that i have with them for the past months.. looking at the older posts..i was feeling equally lousy with some of the services offered by OH...everything that i requested for was rejected until i sent out a long email to them wrt my unhappiness..frankly for my or-ordinator, she did her best to salvage whatever she can on most of the issues we had... and things went well on my AD which i am glad...their service on the AD is excellent...from the moment i reached the hotel after the tea ceremony till we left the hotel the next day...thumbs up to my co-ordinator and the banquet manager for the dinner!! no regrets choosing OH.. i was then using ballroom 3 and surprising...my previous concern then (that the ballroom is too small to cater to my 320 guests) was very cosy and its just the right size for the number of guests that we have invited..and despite that there is another wedding at ballroom 1 and 2, the crowd then was very well controlled.. those who have choose OH as the venue for ur wedding dinner..no worries k? ;p no worries..i am not working for OH and am definitely a satisfied customer with OH..

hi all, I just saw the 2010 wedding package offered by OH this weekend (22-24 May) at Marina square,weekday wedding dinner is at 6% rebate. I look through the forum and saw that some of you have more rebate, can i just understand if its for 2010 package as well?

You mentioned that you used Ballroom 3 for your wedding and there is actuali another couple in Ballroom 1 & 2. The ballrooms are actually side by side right? Will the foyer area look cramped? Will there be a flow over of guests from Ballroom 1 & 2 since they are likely to have more guests?
Considering OH. But kinda worry abt the ballrooms been so close together.

I am also keen on taking Ballroom 3. My only concern is that it is quite narrow and very long, and also afraid that people at the end cant see the montage.

Plus if there are 2 weddings on the same day, not sure if it will be "chaotic" as the reception area will be shared, although the co-ordinator mention that they will baracades the reception area. Also not sure if the wall is soundproof if not I am worried that we can hear sound from the next ballroom if there are wedding or another function on the same day.

The reason why we are keen with OH is that they offered free flow of wine & beer, which is savings for us, but the promotion is on a limited time i think.

So still considering.

hi winnie: that was one of my concerns but surprising it was ok as in the foyer area was not that crowded...they have partition to separate the guests for ballroom 1/2 and ballroom 3.. the ballrooms are also separately by partition and no worries, its quite sound proof and i will not know that there is another wedding beside ours if i was not told by someone. I was looking at OH package for next yr..u gals can really consider as its a gd deal...

yeah im considering OH too.. the freeflow of wine n beer is the main attraction.. not to mentioned there is some cash rebate..

considering OH and swissotel merchant court..
but price wise abt $100 difference..

hey geminiger > no photo to share ah? so fast ur wedding over... still waiting patiently for mine.

I read up the other neg post, i really got no idea how come the present team was so disappointing but for my case, i think both hubby n myself glad we are still happy with OH till now.

So far all our request made was given except for some which we think are ok la if not given.. just trying our luck.

To think of the fact that they prepared extra stuff like whole list of wedding song we can use, the emcee speech nicely written which i think just need some editing here n there lor, all these actually take a load off our long list of thing to do wor..

I also crossing finger thing dont go wrong la.. n i m glad geminger gal said that foyer is not cramped n the sound is not interrupting.. =D

Ball room 3 i think shd be better in term of crowd controlling cos the ballroom is just straight up from the escalator.. not too sure for the crowd going for Ballroom 1 & 2, will the hotel be ushing using separate lift as i remember hubby telling me there is a separate lift on the other end of the hotel nearer to ballroom 1 & 2...

Gal, cheer up if u experienced bad thing till now... just work w what we have and all we want is a happy dinner for ourselves n the guest... be positive...

hi there! i've been looking around for potential hotels to hold my wedding dinner next year. I chanced upon Orchard Hotel during a wedding fair in Marina Square earlier this year, had a quick chat with the coordinator and found out later that the date for my wedding has already been taken so I didnt think of it after we left Marina Square.
Couple of days later, received a call from Xueling who invited us to come on down to OH to dicuss package and look at the venue, she said the previous couple's booking was tentative...
So we went down, had a chat. FH liked the ballroom and after discussing with our parents, I wrote to Xueling to express our interest and would like to make a booking.
We were then told that they have to inform the couple on the waiting list. After almost 2 weeks of waiting and back and forth emails, Xueling emailed and said the couple is not reachable as they are on a holiday overseas and that she does not want to keep us from looking at other hotels.
While I understand that the couple has booked before us, I didnt enjoy being stringed along. Yes, this is a business transaction as well as a special day for me and FH but based on our conversations with OH, it was purely business.
Finally I received an email to say the couple has confirmed and asked me to try their sister company - Grand Corpthorne. Seriously? After the wonderful service I experienced?

Sorry, blood boiling a bit thinking of it.

Hello All, my wife and I just had our AD at OH (on 4th July to be exact) at ballroom 3. We are very pleased with the OH team (Our coordinator was Haze and the Event mgr was Eric) for their professional handling of the event (right from the preparation, food tasting, viewing, check-in, rehersal and the actual march-in, foods) which ensure every detail were taken care of and the event had went on smoothly. My guests had also praised the timing and quality of the food was quite good too. Once again, my special thanks especially to Haze for catering to our whims and wants, all the little things which makes our once-in-a-lifetime event a most memorable and pleasant one.

We also wanna take the chance to show our appreciation for the always smiling and cheery Coffee & Tea VG+PG team (Tanya, Terry and Sze Hui)for the wonderful montages and photos, and also Corazon Events (Paulin and all) for the emcees, stage games and event handling - without that we won't be able enjoy ourselves in the most relaxed state.

and i just called up my BS to check out when will be the next bridal fair and they were saying there's one coming up on 8th Oct with OH... will be there to take a look...it's really tedious and hard to decide which hotel to choose... headache

i tink u can choose ba, either one is ok, cos i have met both of them before.. i have a good impression of all the staff la, all cheerful and patient, thus i have decided! i will hold my wedding at Orchard Hotel! i have choosen to hold it on a thursday, there's 10% cash discount = $2000 leh!

suimitao: if not wrong, there r about 4-5 coordinators, famous n more onz ones is haze n xueling..
my coordinator is haze..so far her service is very good..prompt n friendly, most of all, she fulfill most of our requests and very patient.. so hope this continues till my AD... :D

jen: how u know got dessert buffet? coz from what I know, we sort of the 1st couple to have dessert buffet this yr.

Our wedding Co-Ordinator is Haze too.. so far she's very prompt in replying our email.. she is patience and friendly... we try to negiotate certain things from ... wat she can do she will try to accomodate and give us... her position is also being restricted by upper hotels' management pple.. Beyond her level no choice lor...

ya, i had 10% cash rebate off per table =)
there is 2 option la,
a)$49 off per table with free flow beer + 1 bottle wine per table
b) 10% off per table + 1 barrel beer for 20 tables lo
i wanted more discounts, thus i took option a lo.. =)
i was worried that the ballroom is taken, so i quickily confirm it before it is taken by others. i had 4 dates in mind, can you imagine 3 of them are already taken! their ballroom is so popular!

Hi Miss Little, When is ur AD?
I am very tempted by the cash discount. But i couldnt make up my mind because i'm scare that the ballroom 3 is quite long and ppl sitting behind couldnt view the stage as it is too far. I also feel that the exterior of the hotel looks abit old. Do u all have the same thinking? I've some other hotels in mind which i liked but are more expensive OH.

suimitao: I only have abit of the garden theme to show..

ballroom 3 is not really long, stage is still very visible from the back..not too far..I also find tat OH exterior old tho they have a new extension on the other side but ballrooms still at main building n we love the ballroom to bits coz of high ceiling no pillars..

Jaq, what does their dessert buffet consist off? sounds interesting.. you mentioned in your earlier post that you are not taking chinese dinner.. is there any other options besides the chinese style sit down dinner in OH?

suimitao: already send u the garden theme..as for the new extension..actually nothing much..coz we can't use the lift from the suite to ballroom also.
