Just want to share my experiences with u all. I had my mole removed 3 year ago. Mine is consider big, protruding and very dark colour. The mole really grow deep inside the skin and it's on my right corner of my mouth. The distance is within 1cm from my mouth lo! Peoples told me the mole look very sexy and even old folks said the mole is good one but i just dont like it lo!
On 2002, I realised my mole look like getting bigger which i getting worry cos i scared will become cancer. So i went to polyclinic to see one of the doctor, i told the doctor i found out tat my mole growing very fast and getting bigger recently. So the doctor wrote a letter referring me to SGH, J Clinic, Department of Plastic Surgery.
Think myself very lucky cos the doctor who done the surgery for me is very nice person. When i him, i told him my situation and after discuss with him, I decided remove the mole. Ohya, the doctor quite young and nice person lo! He let me know the price and ask me izzit too expensive. When i said yes, he find lowest rate one for me lo! Anyway, I refered by polyclinic so mine is under subsidied rate. So good is the surgery expenses can deduct from medisave. The surgery charges is $112/-
The doctor told me i need to do surgery to remove the mole cos mine consider big, so cannot do laser. The doctor said the mole need to cut. He gave me some cream and ask me to apply on my mole before the surgery at home. The cream got anesthetic effect lo! After apply the area will felt numb. He did told me after the surgery will left a scar on tat area, I quite worry about the scar and he gave me assurance tat he will do a very nice surgery for me, try not to let the scar so obvious..heehee! The doctor real nice hor!
My bf (now is my hubby) so funny, keep telling me dont remove the mole cos he said without the mole he like cannot get use to it. So the day before operation he keep look at my face. He said he cant imagine my face without the moles..hahaha! I did told my parents about it, they ask me y remove it but i still insist to remove it.
The surgery just like a big operation, need to remove all the jewellery and wear the patient clothes. Make me felt like I got very serious illness and need to do operation lo! Before start the surgery, the doctor inject the anesthetic near my mole, it's quite painful.. After a while my face totally numb, the doctor and the nurse quite relax thru out the surgery, chit chat, joking and ask me question, so i dont really feel so stress lo! If not wrong, the whole surgery took about 25-30 minutes. I cant felt what they doing on my face, but can felt their hand keep moving and dont know what they doing. After done the surgery, I can prepared to change back my own dress. What can i see from mirror is my mole finally gone liao, saw stitches instead of mole. That area abit swollen. I only can felt the pain after i reached home. The doctor give cream to apply and medicine to eat. And i got 3 days MC.
Few days later need to go back to see the doctor again. He did laser treatment for me, think about 2-3 times cos still got some black spot there.
The doctor quite good, he give me so cream to apply on the scar, It's FOC. Think the cream can help the scar slowly fade away so tat not so obvious. And he offer to give me MC for every visit.
Now even my old friends saw me also cant tell where is the scar and where is the mole suppose at?? they ask me at left or right side ah?? hahaha

Btw, do u all agree with this. Whether it leaves an obvious scar also depends on each individual's skin type. So there is some cream which can lighten scar is it? Maybe can ask doctor for that....

Yup, I agree whether got obvious scar depends on individual's skin type. I would say i got a very lousy skin, even a minor cut will leave scar
so after the laser, i try to eat many types of veggies & fruits which contains Vitamin C, hopefully it helps.

Yesterday went to see my doctor again because my "scar" itches at times, rather uncomfortable, so went back to see her. But she told me that was not a scar, just some newly formed flesh, and it's common to feel itchy because it's still raw, as compared to the surrounding skin. She prescribed me some cream to apply.
Hey..u should be more careful when washing ur face, although I know not easy. When I still had my scab that time, I didn't wash my face for the first few days, just use wet tissue to wipe my whole face, avoiding the surgery site of course. Later then I wash, but also extra careful not to wash that part where the surgery was. And don't wipe, u can just pat dry.

i'm new here. i'll be hving my first appt at the national skin ctr this thurs about e removal of my mole too. was referred by the polyclinic doc. am hoping to get an early appt for e procedure coz i need to get it done b4 ROM and wedding and the wound healed in 2 months. can those who have already done it advise how long it will take for the wound to heal and if the scar wil be obvious?

From my experience, it takes abt a week for t scab (dried blood clot) to drop. T area will look a bit raw for t first 2 wks. I think 2 mths should be sufficient for t scar 2 b less obvious

Have u consulted the doctor at the NSC yet? I have not done mine at the NSC so not sure how long will the wound heal, but I believe there will still be a visible scar, no matter what. Maybe it will take some time, perhaps half to 1 year, for the scar to be not so visible.
Anyway, u can always cover up the scar with makeup, as what advised by the doctor.

You very brave leh...if I were you, I won't go for it liao...since the doc also said it's gonna be very ugly. The scar will be on your face forever leh... You won't know how it's gonna heal and how will the scar look like. Once done, cannot be undone liao. I mean not trying to scare or discourage you, just my 2 cents worth anyway.

yeah,am a lil nervous bout how it would be. the doc says it wil be very obvious. but the nurse says it would nt be that bad and can b concealed with make-up aft a few weeks..i just want to go ahead with it though. i think e doc was a little pessimistic. the nurse completely gave me e assurance.

My scars had heal, the one near my nose was noticeable but not obvious, but the one on my face seems to turn into be a flat mole leh (altho there was no scar at all), *sigh* dun know why ????leh, i wonder whether is it becocs i eat black sauce during the healing period *haiz* will want to go back to see doc if it still remains ...

I don't know what method my doc used but definitely not excision.
Presently, there is a light brown colour dot on the location, just like a pimple lor. I think it's still a mole...maybe a flat one but now it's brownish in colour rather than black. I would say still noticeble at short distance but at least not as obvious as previously with a black protruding mole there.
Maybe that is the best results I can get, unless I remove by excision. Cclyn, I believe it's the same case as u right? I think no point going back to the doc lah..they will only tell u that is the best results, if you want to remove completely, do it by excision which will leave an ugly scar etc. But anyway, perhaps u can try and see what they have to say.

I would say though there is still something there, but at least better than previously a big, black and protruding mole lor. It definitely boosts my confidence level to some extent. I just hope that it won't grow back again, to something big and black. *Touch wood*
