Joeann, no worries.. i was a newbie here... ^^ i would say no worries regarding Master Tong's services...

i admit i am quite a tough nut to crack but Master Tong is really detailed when it came to my consultation with him...

Hi Master Tong,
My wife and I are planing our wedding during the easter break in 2011 which is either 23rd or 24th of April 2011. Would like to know if one of these dates are good for a wedding ceremony.

I'm not sure what info I am suppose to provide to you but from reading the other post in here, below are the details

Bride: August 28, 1982; Dog
Bride's mum: Monkey
Bride's dad: Monkey

Groom: June 18, 1979; Goat
Groom's mum: Tiger
Groom's dad: Dragon

And if these dates are not good, what other dates in April will be a good one. Thank you so much in advance.

Regards
Ken

Hi Sally_ing,

As much as i want to help you in the area of general good dates for year 2011, the Tong Shu for 2011 is not out yet, so i will not know or be able to select general Tong Shu auspicious date for wedding for 2011 yet. Right now, the only way and also the right and accurate way of doing it will be using Bazi to select dates. FYI, a date reflected auspicious in the Tong Shu may still be bad for both of you if the date chosen is not compatible wtih both your Bazi.

As for Bazi wedding dates selection, it is part of my consultation service to my clients, hence i can't provide it here free in the forum or it will be unfair to my clients who paid for my service. Hope you understand.

If you have any particular date in mind, just post it here. I can advise you if it is a bad day as there are some days that are definitely bad and cannot be used for marriage; and some days that will clash to either of you or your parents, so cannot be used as well.

Hi May,

You can use 20th May for An Chuang (provided if the good fortune woman or parents doing the An Chuang cannot be born in yr of Rat)

Timing: 1300hrs - 1459hrs

Hi Weixiang,

You are welcome

Hi Vivian,

April is Qing Ming month...so i don't know if you still want to proceed with your ROM in april as normally we dont get married in Qing Ming and 7th lunar mth.

For your AD, you can use the following general tong shu dates (note that Bazi is not taken into consideration yet):

- 07/10, 11/10, 20/10, 23/10, 04/11, 12/11, 13/11, 14/11, 17/11, 25/11, 29/11, 08/12, 20/12, 26/12

Hope this helps

Hi maple,

The "secret" or "key" to wealth in Feng Shui is not how much indoor wealth plants you have, or how many jades, crystals or auspicious ornaments you have in your house. It is the "Qi" of your house. And this is governed by your main door, stove, bedrooms, bed positioning, activation of wealth sector etc etc. If the Qi of the house (or what i call the "DNA" of the house) is good, you don't need to put any single thing and you will still get all the wealth. If your house "DNA" is bad, no matter how much auspicious ornaments you put, there is zero wealth.

Look at it this way...major shopping centers & buildings in Orchard Road such as Ion Orchard, Takashimaya, Hyatt hotel etc etc are all feng shui-ed before. Can you see any jades or crystals or auspicious ornaments hanging there? Feng Shui must be consistent. If those are really feng shui, then we should see lots of auspicious ornaments hanging in shopping centers right?
happy.gif
Feng Shui, at its highest level, is to do it in such as way that when your friends come to your home, they don't know it is feng-shui-ed before. It is invisible to naked eye. Imagine when your friend come and see tons of feng shui objects lying all over your house, he or she will think what is wrong with this house!!

Hope you get my idea of feng shui. Hence to answer your question, you can put any plants you like. You can put 100 cactus in your home. If you house feng shui is good, the 100 cactus won't even have any so call "sha qi" from its sharp points to affect you

Hope this helps

Hi Kok Yong,

This is a very good question
happy.gif
However, it is very hard for me to answer this without going bit technical, so bear with me.

In Western Astrology, there are the 12 zodiac signs that everyone is familiar with, such as Taurus, Virgo, Capricon etc etc. In Chinese Astrology, we are more "kiasu". We subdivide the 12 Zodiac signs into what we call the 28 constellations. They are basically group of stars in the solar system.

This "Liew', (or rather "Liu" as the correct pinyin) you talking about refers to one of the constellations among the 28 constellations. Yes "Liu" is not a good constellation to get married in (by right...). But this 28 constellations system is no longer accurate.

For professional who knows date selection know that we no longer rely on this system for date selection. Reason being that (now this gets harder to explain without illustration.) the 28 constellations are actually degrees of latitude the Moon crosses during its monthly journey around Earth.Coz of the differences in the amt of time the moon passes through these constellations, some may be a few hrs, some may be few days.

Hence as you can see, in the tong shu, it is assigned one constellation to one day in the tong shu. This is incorrect. For eg, the Horn (or "Jiao") constellation is good for wedding. But it may only be good for only 6 hours within a day. After that, the moon will have already transited to another constellations on the very same day! If you assume you can use that for the whole day (which is as stated in tong shu), you will make a big big mistake if you choose a timing that is past the 6 hrs for your wedding! U will end up getting a bad day!
happy.gif

Hence this is one of the reason why the Tong Shu is no longer accurate. Even the bible of date selection, Xie Ji Bian Fang Shu, commissioned by Emperor Qianlong, dispute the validity of this system. It questions the basis on which the days are aligned with the constellations.

I know this is very complicated to understand, just as i find it very complicated to put it in words (haha), but i hope it gives you and everyone an idea one of the big reasons why the tong shu is NOT accurate

Hi Ken Chee,

April is the Qing Ming month, normally we don't choose to ROM or AD during that period.

As much as i want to help you in the area of general good dates for year 2011, the Tong Shu for 2011 is not out yet, so i will not know or be able to select general Tong Shu auspicious date for wedding for 2011 yet. Any good weekend dates in Jan 2011 for us as we are planning both solemnization & customary on same day? I'm trying to plan it before Feb 2011 when the Rabbit year arrives as Rabbit year clashes with Rooster.
Thanks a million!

Dear Master Tong,

I need to check with you the following please.

My wife and I have initially planned to have our ROM & Customary Wedding at the end of this year around Dec 2010.

Sadly, my grandfather (my mum's father) suddenly passed away recently at the beginning of the year (2010) at the age of 80 plus, in the Hospital.

Will this affect our wedding plan or will there be any changes/actions needed or any things that we will need to take note of?

Also, will it be alright to carry out simple renovation in my parents' house like re-painting the whole house and getting new furnitures for the wedding?

My grandfather is not staying with us.

Also, will there be any concerns for my uncles (my mum's brothers), aunt (my mum's sister who is not yet marriaged) and cousins to attend our ROM and customary wedding ceremonies.

Please advise us on the necessary changes/actions we will need to take.

Thank you for your kind help.

Best Regards,
Tom

Hi Master Tong,

I would like to check if you can advise the practice of attending weddings within 100 days. You see, my best friend's wedding is within 100 days from the date of my wedding and both of us would really like to be able to share each other's joy on our big day. What are the avenues that we can seek?

Thanks for the help.

Hi Master Tong

I wanted to check whether the 23 Jan 2011 is a good date for us.

Bride: Rat
Groom: Horse

Bride's Dad: Rooster
Bride's Mom: Pig

Groom's Dad: Tiger
Groom's Mom: Ox

Thanks!

Hi Vivian,

Qing Ming falls on the 5th April. But 3rd lunar month will only start from 14th April till 13th May. Normally Qing Ming will overlap with the 3rd lunar month, so normally people dont get married in this 3rd month. this yr it does not overlap, hence generally we just take the whole of april (coz you cannot ignore the real Qing Ming date as well coz people will start to sweep the grave about 1 wk before Qing Ming). till mid May.

10th Oct 2010 is not a good date for AD. This is NOT a good date for wedding. A lot of people wanted this date. I agree that the no. is nice but this date is not suitablr for wedding purpose.

For ROM,, here are some general dates for feb and march (mid feb to end feb is omitted due to CNY):

11/02, 08/03, 10/03, 18/03, 22/03

Hope this helps

Hi Sherlin,

you can the following Jan 2011 weekend dates:

- 1/1/2011

This is the only date that is a general good date for wedding and don't clash (clash Dog).

Hope this helps

Hi RedFire,

Normally in this case, according to Chinese belief, you need to hold your wedding within 100 days or 1 year later. Hence you might need to change your wedding to a later date or do it within 100 days.

Yes, you can do the reno, no problem

Normally, if you follow the chinese tradition, if somone in your family pass away, they cannot attend other people's wedding within 1 year. But nowadays, most people practice only 3 months. Hence it depends how traditional your uncles' & auntie's family is etc

Hope this helps
happy.gif

Hi icyhot,

Normally accoriding to Chinese belief, you cannot attend other's wedding 3 months before and after your wedding. You cannot avoid this or counter this. The best thing is to avoid. Having said that, this is a Chinese belief. There is no proof that it is right or wrong. Hence it really depends how traditional your parents are.

If you ask me, i will advise to follow since you cannot measure right or wrong and wedding is an impt event. She should understand that too.

Hi Sabrina,

This date is not an ideal date for wedding. 30th Jan 2011 will be a better date and don't clash (clash to Rabbit ).

Hope this helps

Hi Master Tong

Terribly sorry, i must have been thinking of a horse! My groom is actually a dog. Does that change matters? Is 23 jan 2011 still not an ideal date for wedding?

Many thanks!

For easy reference, here are the details again:

Bride: Rat
Groom: DOG

Bride's Dad: Rooster
Bride's Mom: Pig

Groom's Dad: Tiger
Groom's Mom: Ox

Thanks!

Hi Master Tong,

I heard from pple that Tiger year is not an auspicious year to get married. And I saw from previous postings that Tiger year clash with Monkey. Is it really a no-no for Monkey to tie the knot in Tiger year?

Thanks.

hi master, check with u. For horoscope bride:rabbit, hubby:rooster.

Hubby's parents: Cow
Bride's mum:goat
Bride's dad:rooster.

WHen is it a good time for ROM? Sep-Nov

Thank you very much Master Tong. I'm so puzzled! Cos my future mother in law went to her Shifu to ask for dates based on our eight characters and that was the date that he gave us!

Hi master,

Can you help me see which date is good for my resale flat 1st time opening door. what info you need in order to check for me? Thanks.

Dear Master Tong,

My fiance and I are planning to hold our wedding dinner in year 2011. We would greatly appreciate if you can advice us if the following dates are auspicious: 28th May 2011, 4th and 11th June 2011. Thank You.

Hi Albany,

Yes, if you are born in year of the Monkey, then Tiger yr 2010 will not be a good yr for you to get married in.

However, if you are not born in yr of the Monkey, then chances are you can get married in Tiger year. So long as you find a good day, there is no problem.

All the hearsay that Tiger year is not a good year for marriage is not true. That is a very superficial form of analysis and is largely based on "pantang-ness" and Chinese culture, not Chinese Metaphysics or authentic date selection technques. Every yr can be good or bad, depending on your Bazi.

Hope this helps

Hi Sabrina,

Remember that all my analysis here in the forum are based on general tong shu dates, not by Bazi selection of wedding dates.

Selection of wedding dates using Bazi is part of my consultation service, hence it is chargeable, else will be unfair to my clients.

If your future MIL asked a geomancer to calculate your dates based on Bazi, that geomancer might be correct that he matches your Bazi to the day. In other words, a good date selected using Bazi can override most bad days in the tong shu.

So if you trust that master in doing a good job, don't worry so much and start planning for your wedding happily
happy.gif

Hi Wenwen,

The tong shu for 2011 is not out yet, hence i can't select for you a date based on the 2011 tong shu. The only way and right way to do it now will be using Bazi to select 2011 and 2012 dates.

For your case, i can help you check if those dates are definite bad dates or if it clashes to any of you, which render the dates unusable.

I need you to provide the animal signs of both of you as well as your parents.

Hope this helps
