I guess standard is 1 bottle wine per table. Tats what other hotels generally provide. But she said really can't provide this perk cos it's new package jus out for year 2012...but think I can push for it if I really wanto book w them. But currently I haven decide.
What u think of ballroom? Walk way too short? You shld feedback on bad service n impression of the dinner which u went recently. Let them know this can't go on. Actually MM at least 4-5 star hotel bah just that under same group they may be least atas and not as grand.

MM finally called today. Fiona will be sending me the invitation cards via post for my selection and arranging for food tasting soon.
Yes.. I'll feedback for sure but I don't think much can be done coz I already signed and there's no way I can back out even if I'm not satisfied with their service and food.

You mean the walkway in Grand Ballroom right? I'm ok with it.
It's not long as compared to other hotels but not exactly very short. Stroll in slower lor.. haha

Anyone engaging a live band to sing in Vanda Ballroom?

I am interested to engage one but then, there's a few issues like the stage area like quite cramped up... dunno where to place them and how many piece to engage also?... Anyone can share your experience?

Hi Lee Ling, after reading your comment on MM poor service and their quality of food. I'm beginning to be like you too (in BRIDEZILLA mode) cos' my wedding is just 3 months from now.

Have their service and food quality improved on your wedding day?

I'm gonna feedback to my coordinator.

hi btbs,

im looking at MM for a friday wedding dinner..
coordinator told me that min 35 tables..
but im looking at the most 33 tables?

any body manage to nego to abt 33?

i thought of other hotels like M hotel.. but their max is 32?..

really in dilemma.. anybody can help? thanks!

Hey ladies!

I'd just like to share that I'm a super happy bride of MM! Had my AD on 5 Mar, and everything went well. The banquet manager was very pro and he really helped to put me at ease all the time. It's like he always had that "don't worry, trust me" kind of look. haha!

My AD dinner was also much better than the food tasting, so don't be afraid to give your (critical) views on the food during the food tasting. It really helps!

Only one glitch is that one of the tables which I requested for 11 servings had only 1 abalone. Hmph. A lil upset cos I paid for that additional serving!

I don't understand why MM doesn't give discount on the room rate to the wedded couples for their overseas guests.

Other hotels do give discounts but not MM.

Hi,

I recently viewed the Vanda Ballroom but it was not with any wedding decorations...

Would appreciate if any brides here can email me ([email protected]) a link or photos of your wedding photos if you had held at Vanda ballroom before as I would like to have a idea of how it would look like...

For now, it looks rather old and empty.. the stage is quite odd looking..

But the good thing is MM is quite straight forward with the additional perks they can give..

The service on the actual day was ok. Banquet manager was really nice and thoughtful. Food was 7.5/10 but the duck with pancake wrap was bad. Many of my guests commented that the duck meat was not cooked thoroughly, the meat was reddish in colour.

Actually, something happened before the actual day dinner and we are still upset with how the hotel handled it. Was unhappy up till my actual day but I was too stressed up with everything else I just hecked it all and got through it rather than let the incident ruin my actual day. But guess what, on the actual day, another similar incident happened. I only got to know about it after the dinner coz my family didn't want to spoil my mood.

Those 2 repeated incidents had caused me to regret picking MM. Their management also failed badly in service recovery as a 5-star hotel. I will not elaborate further since many brides here have already signed with them. For those who have not, do consider other hotels with the same price point.

Sorry Ladies.. I don't think I'm ready to talk about the incidents coz it only reminds me of the unhappiness which i'm still bitter about.
Until today, this matter has no closure. I'm tired of having to go back to them when they should be the ones to take the initiative to make it up to us. I'm not the sort who bangs table and demands for compensation so I guess they took our case very lightly.
Right now, they are just hoping for things to die down and that I will let it pass, which (lucky for them) I probably will, coz I really don't wish to go back to them and be reminded of the whole episode. ARGHH

I sign up for nx yr MM dinner... I got 1 wine per table and free flow beer. =)

Basically we dont have to negotiate. The manager that serve us just "showhand" to us.

when is your wedding?? =D

btw, just to check with brides who had their wedding at the grand ballroom.. i'm thinking of engaging wedding band.. but not sure if grand ballroom's system is appropriate?
i've enquire some packages & they mentioned that we gotta 'top-up' for them to bring their system cos MM's not suitable -.-"" not sure if its really the case..

I'm holding mine at grand ballroom on 5th May. I heard from the manager saying that if need band you have to get your own pa system.

- free flow beer
- extra night stay in bridal suite
- one bottle per confirmed table
- waiver of corkage for hard liquor and wine

my wedding is on 7th oct

Hi Karmene, yup I went down to MM & all the perks are thrown in. But my fiancé find Vanda ballroom's ceiling low, so gotta give up MM thou i have to say their package is very attractive.

Yes MM package in comparison to other hotels ( nearby ritz, Conrad, oriental, pan pacific) is very cheap and they are willing to throw in a reasonable number of freebies without even asking. Other hotels may not be easy getting even simple things lik waiver of corkage. My coordinator was Fiona and I mus say you pay for what you get. I also didn't like the ballroom. It doesn't giv me the grand feeling and ceiling is low. But the package is really good.
 
Hi lynnie.. Thanx for the info. Are u taking MM as well? 2012 BTB? Ive went mandarin orchard and hyatt so far.. Dates are taken up very fast. So end up i shortlisted MM.. Still waiting for MM to reply me on the availability of dates. Kinda slow..
 
Nope, I'm not taking MM cos couldn't meet Grand ballroom's min. tables required. Now looking at Mandarin orchard, but they are inflexible with perks unlike MM, which is more generous.

hi karmene!you got really good deal!somemore no need to bargain at all? perhaps hotter dates they are not willing to give so many things? mine from 11.11.12 gonna change to 14.10.12 so maybe not so tough to get the perks uh>

im going down to meet Wendy. but the package that she sent me in email is without wine/ free flow beer and stay. can bargain for all these?

also, does anyone have any idea whos their florist?
 
Lynnie: MM min tables for grand ballroom is 35-40 rite? If have 32-34.. Im sure they can close one eye.. Mandarin orchard min for grand ballroom is 45.. I cant meet the minimum and the imperial ballroom fit max 22.. Look more like a conference meeting room.. And mandarin orchard are not flexible at all..
 
I'm looking at 22-25 tables, which can fit into Vanda ballroom. But fiancé abit fussy doesn't like it. I'm going to pop by tmr to view Mandarin Orchard's Imperial ballroom. Conference meeting room? Oh no..

Btw, Hope you get the date you want from MM!

ya the imperial ballroom looks weird to me.. 22-25 tables u can consider gallery at hyatt.. it is more ex but the perks u get is damn good and food is nice too..

Anyone held your wedding at the vandal ballroom of mm? Do you mind to share! I'm kinda of putting mm as one of my venue list but im still consider bcos of the ceiling high. Though it is a 5 star hotel but vanda ballroom design is rather odd & old. So still considering of choosing mm or not.

Does anyone have any idea abt the food quality?

anyone going to the wedding show nx mth? Fiona just told me abt the show but i have not decided whether to attend cos im not really tat wowed with MM. However, the date i wanted (way in advance in nov 2012) is taken up when i wanted to book with mandarin orchard so i need to look at my other shortlisted hotels

hi girls, the wedding show is on 10 July. Apparently i already saw 2 other hotels having wedding show on same day (grand corptorne waterfront and inter continental).
I dont know how much it costs though will check with them, from what i know if you already signed package with them check with your coordinator you should be able to attend without having to pay. of cos those who haven sign up gota pay lo.
