Shir: Hey thanks for pre-warning us about the food-tasting. It's better for us to be mentally prepared than to get a shock during the food tasting.

But I hope the food on food-tasting and AD can be both good.

My food tasting is on end of July.

Lotsalove: Sorry to hear about the bad experience.

I think MM is very strict in their cancellation policy. They told us beforehand that the deposit is non-refundable even if u cancelled the dinner.

I agree with u that a goodwill gesture of say a dinner for 5, in your case of cancellation, may be nice on their part.

But I think it's the same for most hotels not to offer anything in return. I supposed it's like telling couples that they are taking it easy on cancellation.

Anyone engaged the recommended printers from MM? Kentrich Trade Press and Jasvy Marketing Agency.

I read some bad reviews of Jasvy in some 2006 postings.

How about Kentrich?

I called T-dragon. They said delivery takes 2-3 weeks!

Price-wise, I believe more or less the same.

Hi Chilli..

I came here to see see look look and saw ur comments. Just to share with u, i recently confirmed printing of my inserts with Axxa Print & Design (got the contact from another thread).

Same as u, i read a lot of bad reviews abt Jasvy hence i did not consider them. As for Kentrich, i have ask them if its possible to make an apptm with them on weekend but they said no and never bother to reply any queries after tat

So end up i went to Axxa instead.. no frill service and its cheaper than the printer recommended by MM... Axxa charged me $70 (+ $10 if you want score line). 2 days after meeting them, they sent me the layout for approval. Printing timeline is expected to be 1 week or slightly more.

Chilli : I didn't know that Kentrich closes at 1pm on Sat

For AXXA, am paying $70 only since we provide them the inserts for printing. Additional cost will applies only if we need them to supply the paper

Hi starry1818,

If u do not intend to use the inserts supplied by MM or if u wan to use other special type of paper for ur wedding card, the additional cost will kick in. Cost will varies depending on the type and quality of paper u chose... u might wan to ask ur printer if there's the case.

Hi babes,

I am interested in having my wedding banquet in MM. However, which wedding coordinator would you recommend? That person is so important since we'll be working closely with them.

Hi stitch009,

For us, MM called me up to check with me on the card selection and qty required for each of the card design. We're too busy to go down to view cards, they posted both cards to us for selection. We thought its pretty good service cause we save the time from travelling down, can pick at our own convenience and even check with our parents' on their preference.

After we decided, we just called them back to let them know the qty required for each design and they will prepare the cards for us to collect from the Concierge anytime at our convenience.

From there, we will bring those cards to our chosen printer for printing. You can check with the printer whether to bring the cards. For us, we went to the printer directly after we collected the cards from the hotel and our printer told us that the cards are not necessarily as they are printing the inserts, can keep the cards at home. Hee.. luckily for us, we settled them on the same day, instead of lugging those heavy cards out on another day and found out that no need to bring.

I think MM had a schedule that they follow quite tightly and they're more gan chiong than us. By which month, they will need us to give them the card selection, card qty, food tasting, food menu favours selection, etc etc.. Hee.. we just follow their cue on these and everything falls in nicely for us.

Hi Pinkcoral,

For us, the hotel contacted us around 2month before the actual day to confirm the dishes for food tasting as well as the date for food tasting.

Our food tasting is around 1month before the actual date.

Hi,

Am going for the food tasting at MM this month.

Anyone knows what is "Double Happiness Noodles" ?
Between this and the "Braised Ee Fu Noodles", which is a better choice ?

Also for the dessert, is their "Yam Paste with Gingko Nuts" nice ?

Hello all BTB, I m deciding whether to go for MM? I heard that a few years bk that the waiters' service is not good and the food is nt too. Are they still so?
Me n my HTB like the reception area of Vanda and the surrounding atmosphere vs Stamford.

What do u all think??

Hi Min,

Cindy is my coordinator for only about 2mths as she is a replacement of my previous coordinator.

As my wedding is next week so she has been liasing very closely with me on the arrangement. Also very prompt and accomodating with my request.

In terms of ballroom, I am taking the grand ballroom at level 1 (min. 35 table). However, if u r hosting a smaller group of 20 table or so, u might want to consider Vanda ballroom at level 5. Heard that the foyer is nice over there.

Note that MM ballrooms has a relative shorter march in aisle as compared to other hotels. So it depends on whether if u r fine with it. Personally, I dun mind a shorter aisle because i tink i will be super nervous that day

My name is Jarls Lee from Singapore and I am an undergraduate at a Hospitality Management school in Switzerland. For my undergraduate dissertation, I am looking at the negotiation behaviour of prospective wedding couples looking to hold their wedding banquet at 5-star hotels in Singapore.

Your response is kindly appreciated and will aid in the completion of my paper.

This survey will take up 15-20 minutes of your time.

anyone manage to negotiate with the coordinator to reduce the required table quantity for weekends? MM ballroom minimum require 40tables while Vanda maximum 30tables. i am forseeing i will need between 30-35tables, so i'm stuck in between.

joos

Hi Debbie, you may want to check with your coordinator about reducing the tables to 35 for grandballroom for weekends. I think they shld be stricter with Sats since it is a popular day.. Try Sunday

Debbie...joos is right...they are very strict on Sat...my wedding is on Mon (which is a holiday) and they are fine with 35 tables min for Marina Ballroom...the only solution is that you have to upppp your menu to pay for the difference to cover the 40 tables min

Hi, I attended.

Can only remember its free flow beer, one bottle wine per confirmed table.

I table off in exchange with complimentary food tasting.

went to view Vanda ballroom today, the foyer is really nice, however, the march in is rather short and feel that the service is kind of low as compared to other hotels. maybe that's why the banquet price is quite affordable. but we will not consider MM as one of the option.
