Hi ladies,

I had my wedding dinner at the lovely Hibiscus Room the sunday before cny.

There was only one wedding in the hotel so we had the entire 3rd level to ourselves.

We only decided to have a photo montage presentation in the afternoon and my hubby managed to borrow a projector from his office. We used our own laptop. Thankfully, the applications were compatible.

The food, service and black theme set up (hmmm we paid a premium for these) received very positive feedback from our guests. We are glad that the chef took our comments during food tasting seriously and the dishes were less salty. But I din get to eat my favourite cheese basket as it was not brought to the bridal table... should have asked them to da bao for me as supper...

No regret insisting on the black theme despite initial objection from parents. It was really lovely, elegant and something different.

Of course there were some things which could be better.

The hotel computer could not read our files so we couldn't put our graphics on the plasma tv. This was partly our own doing as we should have checked with our coordinator earlier. Then again, hyatt should upgrade their technology and the IT knowledge of their staff.

We only managed to start the dinner at 8.30pm. My ideal time would be before 8.15pm. Actually, most guests have already arrived but were at the cocktail area. Wished that the banquet manager had ushered guests to the ballroom so that we could begin dinner earlier.

The music did not play initially during the montage presentation. The wrong cd was played after the lst dish presentation. Not sure what happened, could have been oversight by hyatt or our helpers. Anyway, these were put right almost immediately.

On the bridal suite, the super king size bed was very comfy and I like the spacious bathroom too. In fact, everything else in the suite was great!

Our coordinator was Ailin. She was relatively new to the hotel and we were very demanding clients but she tried her best to accommodate us. Overall we are pleased with the outcome and we are glad that we had our wedding dinner at Hyatt.

It was probably a good thing that I din manage to read this thread the few days before my wedding cos some of your accounts would surely had induced additional stress… certainly hope those were isolated cases and that everything goes smoothly for all future hyatt brides.

Hi ladies,

Personally, me and my gf went down last nite and met up with audrey, she a very nice lady, great service from her which really compliment a 5* hotel.

We arrive and ask the concerige to get her to come down and the staff there are providing that brief moment of great service. I can tell you the service is definitely worth 5*.

The wedding package that audrey offer is great as well. Actually, comparing to the rest, its superb. Just that the room available to us on that day is Magnolia/Vanda and they have got that infamous BIG FAT PILLARS. 2 BIG FAT PILLAR and 2 small pillar.

Personally my gf and me cant stand the pillars, so decided to give hyatt a miss although we have heard their grand suite is great and the service to us is great. But then due to personal preference, we still give it up.

Unless you get 30tables and below then can consider Sir Stamford, did not see the room cos no valid reason to do so as not available on my date and my tables are min 30 and increasing.

That's my 2cents worth. Enjoy all Hyatt Brides.

Hi Vincent,

I have to agree that Audrey is a very nice lady and pretty too.. hehe...

She is my co-ordinator. I have booked with her in Jan for my AD in Dec.

If you can accept the BIG pillars, actually Magnolia/Vanda room is a very good deal at $688. But my bf and I also did not choose it becos we also din like the pillars. So whats your alternative choice of hotels?

Hi Seafaith,

Thanks. I'm sure you'll have a memorable wedding too! I guess the main thing is to have fun and take it easy if things are not 100% perfect. Cheers!

Yeah u are right Hydrogen. Will enjoy the journey of the wedding preparation.

Hi Sharon & vincent.
We also attract on the mag/vanda room rate, but due to the big fat pillar, we have to give up cause myself really can't accept it. But, luckily we manage to get sir stamford room as we intend to have 25 table only.

For the co-ordinator, mine is Mandy Wan, she also a nice lady and give us a lot help and adv on our banquet.

Seafaith,

when is your AD? Sir Stamford room is nice and cozy. I liked the reception area... very private and cozy feeling....

We booked the Grandballroom. My AD is in Dec....

Hi Sharon,

My AD will be in March 2007. First time i walk in sir stamford room, i was like it very much. I remember that time was with black theme, very attracted me, it's really cosy and grand. But i have no chance to use black theme. You are right, the reception area is very private. This is the reason why i decided to book it. It's quite exclusive.

Where is their grand ballroom? i heard the rooom also very nice but no chance to have a look on it cause i got not much table.

Hi Seafaith,

The grandballroom is on level 3, 1 level above Sir Stamford room. Are the rates the same for 2007?

Why do you say that u have no chance to use the black theme? Your parents mind?

seafaith

New Member
Hi Sharon,

Yes the 2007 march rate still the same as per 2006. I don't know whether they will increase/decrease the rate after march or not.

Think my parent and PIL will mind on it. U know old folks they will mind all the way, so have to peace them then we are no choice. But then we want everyone happy on the event also. Anyway, actually others theme also not that bad. How abt u? choose the balck theme as well?

Hi All,

Just want to share that experience I had with one of the banquet sales staff of Grand Hyatt.

We arrived at the hotel and informed the reception that we have an appointment with Merlissa. After waiting for about 10 mins, I called Merlissa at her desk, a colleague answered and said that Merlissa is on her way down. We waited for another 10 mins, and went to enquire with the hotel receptionist again. She called the banquet office again, and she was also told that Merlissa is on her way down. AND ... we waited for another 15 mins before we finally get to see Merlisa. To make things worse, no apology was offered. She just offered her namecard and brought us to the ballroom.

IF this is the level of service she has to offer, we won't book hyatt, even if it's on cheap sale!

Hi Shermaine,

We have not decided on the theme yet. I think my family and PIL will not mind black theme as they are quite flexible about such things. But I personally like the Gold or Vanilla theme cos it looks classy... well, actually both are nice in their own way....

Hiya !!

To all Hyatt brides to be, can anyone send the menu to me at [email protected] ? Heard their food are very special...

Some qns :
1. Will there be any problem if I play music throughout the dinner ? (Heard their sound system is not "very capable") Anyone had music played throughout ?

2. Poll. Would you prefer :
a)4-star hotel at Orchard, high ceiling, nice chandeliers, food quite good, price $670 ?

b)Hyatt, low ceiling, excellent food, price $688 ? But may get heart attack anytime their sound/video system failed during dinner ....

Cheers

Hi all. My coordinator is Ailin. But didnt feel she is initiative and professional. I had bad experience during my banquet and i think the captain Jeffrey did a bad job!

Well.. first of all. When we arrived at the hotel, I was told by my coordinator there will be somebody at the porch to pass us the room key so that we dun have to go to the lobby to check in. Unfortunately nobody was there for our arrival, then we waited at the lobby to check in. We were asked to go to bridal suite level to check in and we waited for about 10 mins. Thought bride n groom should be given the privilege of checking in first?
However I have to say that the bridal suite is indeed nice and spacious.
Later in the evening, dinner started at 835pm which i expect to start at 815pm. As there are rose petals to be thrown during the march in, we asked for plates to place the petals. The delay was due to finding plates for my rose petals. The kitchen staffs have to go to 2nd level to get the plates. The march in songs were too softly played. Lighting was very bright. There wasn’t any romantic feeling in the Hibiscus room with the bright lights. We did ask the captain many times to dim the lights but many times the lights were bright again. The second march in song was played but to my surprise when we were on stage for champagne pouring, another song which is not the song that i wanted was played. Oh.. btw, my cd was broken into pieces when the captain returned me later at night. After my first n second march in, i went up to change to evening gown and tea dress. Know what.. i cant access the room with the card. We have to wait for guest to go up the lift so that I can get to my bridal suite. Can u imagine how panicky I was when all my guests are expecting our march in soon. All guests need a card to access to the lift. What was most disappointing is the bright lighting which spoil the evening. I called her the next day after my wedding night and she told me she will follow up on these and do compensation but know what, till now I have not heard from her. I emailed her thrice to ask if follow up has been done but has no reply from her.

hi seasons, sorry to hear abt tis. I am thkg of booking the hibiscus room too. from ur experience, do u thk it's becos of the coordinator's fault that she didn't ensure that thgs ought to run smoothly or u thk there is really a prob wif hyatt's management?
sigh, tot i had made up my mind in choosing hyatt, now got to thk twice.

Hi Kitty. I feel that my coordinator and captain are not as good as other coordinators and captains. Hibiscus room is indeed a nice room with romantic ambience. I think all other coordinators should be ok. My friend had her wedding recently and her coordinator is Carina. She mentioned that everything went on smoothly. So I think it really depends on who is yr coordinator and captain.

Hey Sharon,

Thankies so much for the email. Yup, it's the one that I had. Luckily! If not I will feel so cheated!

Hey Seasons,

Oh dear! Really sorry to hear about that. I guess the coordinator did not go the extra mile to help you ensure that everything ran smoothly. And how could the CD be returned in that state! Imagine if it's something which cannot be replaced!

Hi all,

Yeah u are right, Sir stamford reception area really nice and exclusive. I booked this room last year for my next year banquet. I had seen this room with black theme, very elegant and outstanding. Something very nice and different, but too bab cause of the old folks i have no chance to take this theme.
