Hi, ladies

anyone intend to have the smoke effect during the march-in. If so, it is FOC provided by the hotel or have to pay for the dry-ice? Btw: anyone manages to get free corkage for additional wine to be brought in..

It's so funny Jonathan, I actually was eyeing your date but when I called Hyatt they said it was booked. So I just booked 17 Nov. Why are you giving it up? I heard that 16 and 17 Nov are good days to get married.

Hi Eve,

I received it! Thanks very much.

No choice - the wedding dinner will have the dry ice for me. Make my parents happy --- go back to the 1970's. Hhahahah....my only worry is the smell, I was helping out at a friend's wedding at the Regent - the dry ice had a smell (like those that they emit at D&D's)....almost like a musky scent, mixed with the toilet air-freshener smell.

I have been going to many hotels to see the ballrooms over the last week. I noticed that the Hyatt rooms have the lowest ceilings. I am really worried about that. Cos many of the other hotel's rooms are very grand looking. SIGH.

My FH is moving to Singapore FOR GOOD this wednesday. So excited! Finally don't have to do all the planning myself :)

hi, do you have any wedding coordinator to recommend?

also, I did not sign up in their last bridal showcase..do you know if they have one coming soon?

how's the food generally? i have mixed reviews, some said it's good and some said it's bad... friend said that hyatt's like a mass wedding venue -- she went to the wrong wedding

hi vhappy,
i will send the programme later, dun have the CD with me. hehe

hi red088,
my coordinator is zona and i find her very nice and helpful. do give her a call...

the food is nice.. it is unique and special.. my guests told me the food is good...

as for the mass wedding venue.. hyatt has 5 ballrooms so there might be more than one wedding a day.. u can check with ur coordinator if there is another wedding on the same day as u. i feel that the problem is esp greater for ballrooms on the third level, as there are 3 ballrooms there, hibiscus, Vanda/Magonolia and Camillia...

so u might want to have extra helper to direct ur guests, or include extra direction in the invites for ur guests.

hi eltgal,
ur hubby is not in sG? hehe but happy that he is coming back.. hmm the pitfall of low ceiling is perhaps not grand enough, but it is quite cozy with the low ceiling.. hehe

as for the dry ice.. i attend one at OCC before and there was no smell.. hmm maybe u check with ur coordinator?

hi eve,
haha, well yeah my FH really has his own ideas man... do u know he actually sketched his "ideal" WG when we were at the BS the other day? haha got both me and the BS lady surprised.. well, my AD's 27th dec, but till now, we've only booked the dinner venue, and got our PS and AD photog... everything else is undone!!

Hi, eltgal

Do u have to pay for the dry ice? Cos my coordinator said the charge is $5 per kg. For dinner, we need 25kg which costs about $125nett. I checked with most of my friends who had their wedding. They said it should be FOC.

Hey SL i check and let you know.

i am not big on the dry ice...but no choice. My mom didn't get it at her own wedding many years ago, so she requested that i do it at mine :)

i dunno leh.. maybe it's cos i'm afraid, cos his ideal design may not be suitable for me.. (i dun exactly have a really good figure). what happens if it turns out my MTM is something i dun like, or look horrible in? haha aiya as of now, i'm still browsing thru mags for ideas... wonder when the next set of bridal mags will come out...

hi guys, do you know if hyatt's going to have another bridal showcase? dunno if i call now, will they give the freebies e.g. 2 barrels of 30L beer..

to avoid the mass wedding, bf suggested that we book the grand ballroom though we only have 16+ tables.. he said that maybe we can pay for the additional tables required and exchange for other stuff -- do you guys know if this is practised?

Hello red088!
Wow!! If I haven't remember wrongly, the minimum table no. for the smaller grand ballroom is 40 tables for weekday and 45 tables for weekend!! Think you will have to fork out quite a bit for such an arrangement...and I will think they will not exchange other things for you just bcoz you choose such an arrangement..(coz the return needed per ballroom..??) If your banquet happen to be on a popular date..then confirm even more difficult to negotiate..
kao_sticktongue.gif

By the way what you mean by mass wedding?? Do you mean you want to avoid the situation where there are many other couples also holding their banquet on the same day as you?? If that is the case, booking the Grand ballroom will not solve the problem as the rest of the ballrooms are individually "standing"..they are not linked together..Hence they can still be occupied even if you use the grand ballroom. And if your banquet is on a popular date..you can be sure that most of the other ballrooms will be booked..

hi kelly thanks for your advice.. do u know if there are going to have any bridal showcase?

do u know of any other hotels that cost about the same as hyatt and are in the town area?

eveuloveme

hi red,

if u don't wish to share the banquet venue with other couples, u can try four seasons. cos they only have one ballroom...
marriot also... and it is only next door...

pricing is about the same for marriot but four seasons is definitely 1k plus for weekend
hehe

Hello red088!
Think Hyatt has one of the best deals IF you are taking their Camelia or Mag/Vanda ballroom..heehee! For the other ballrooms such Sir Stamford and hibiscus, the prices are higher..similar to that of Marriot! Like what eve has mentioned above..Four seasons is lovely! And exclusive!! Heehee!! But of course..it comes with a premium! For me and FH, our budget too small for that! Heehee!

There are actually quite a few hotels in town in the same price range as Hyatt. They include Meritus Mandrian, Crown Prince and the Regent!! Heehee! My friend is currently a wedding planner at Regent. You can PM me if you are interested to meet up with someone from Regent! Heard she is one of the popular planners there..heehee!

Hi red088,
I'm having Audrey as my coordinator. I find her very pleasant and helpful.

I signed up for Mag/Vanda room last month as I thought it was a good trade off - lower ceilings and pillars but better food and cheaper than other hotels (mine is $688). The floral deco that they offer are pretty nice too.

And about the projector that they couldn't provide... actually, my husband saw a projector that has a big "Hyatt" sticker on it. Wonder why they can't let us use for our weddings....

Hi Kelly, when I was doing my hotel hunts, Hyatt was actually more ex than the other hotels you've mentioned...and Crown Prince was the lowest of all. Did they jack up their prices since?

thanks for the advice.. wanted to call up hyatt to book but worried that they may have another bridal showcase where we can get freebies ..at the same time, worried that my date may be taken up if we wait for the next bridal showcase...

four seasons too exp already.. our budget is about S$700 ..

okie, will check up crown prince

hi red,
actually the freebies u get from the showcase is not a lot... if ur AD is on the weekday.

u can get free wine and beer if urs in a weekday provided it is not a block out date...

the only thing i guess is u get only 2 nite stay instead of the 3 if u dun book during the showcase.

Hey Hikki,

If you are not comfortable, then you have to voice out before they actually make the WG. Ya, I'm also waiting for the new bridal magazines. They should have it monthly!

Hello tsukushi
Comparing to Marriot and the Regent, the price is quite comparable. I believe Goodwood, Crown Prince and Meritus Mandrian are cheaper..for both weekdays and weekends.. BUT! You have to look through the contracts very carefully leh...Hyatt's package is rather comprehensive..like it includes wine and beer while the other may not have. Hence, if you just look at the per table price, Hyatt's seems more expensive but after taking into consideration the rest of the perks, I think it is a very good deal!! Hyatt's best deal will be their prom for the Mag/Vanda and Cameila. Try go during Hyatt's wedding show..heeheee..but you must also note leh..perks given at each wedding show also slightly different(same as other hotels)..so think it really depends on luck!!! heehee! =p

Yo red088!
If you dun mind taking the Mag/Vanda ballroom or Camelia for weekdays..you can still hold your banquet at Hyatt! Their weekday rate for these 2 ballrooms are under $700!!! =)

Kelly,
Ya, saw that the prices for those 2 rooms are really ridiculous(ly low). Aren't they the smaller ballrooms?? I didn't know that wine is included in the contract. Did you get it from their wedding show? As for beer, it's almost a std to have a barrel free with most hotels, if not free flow! Marriot can be very cheap too. They were having a promo at $688 per table which is a bit ridiculous for a 5* hotel and their lunch promo was $528 only. I'm not sure about Regent but I thought their prices is about $800 for weekends? Any idea what is their price now?

red088

wow, didn't know marriott can be that cheap -- must be during their bridal showcase right ? we went to take their brochures and the prices were ex.. probably will check out marriott as well.

Hi Kelly,

Mag/Vanda ballroom cheaper cause of the room have two big & fat pillar. But, Hyatt will cover this disadvantage with the LCD TV, so if u don't mind on the pillar, u can choose it. Meantime, this room is not so exclusive cause it's was the same floor with Hibiscus room and i feel it's quite open.

For the camelia room, it's a quite small room which can accomodate abt 15 table if i not remember wrongly.

Happy searching...
