i am also expressing horrible service from them. I made an appointment to go down to see their ballroom but there was no one at the lobby during our scheduled time. I called and a lady picked up the phone, telling me she will get her colleague to ring me back. But after waiting n making more calls to them, still no one came down.

I gave up after almost an hr of waiting and stormed off. Can you imagine even b4 closing the deal their service is so horrible, how good can their service be after you have signed up with them! I'm not gg to consider Hyatt anymore.

Anyone hold their wedding at Magnolia room? I went down to have a view of the ballroom today and find that the pillars are blocking the view of a lot of guests. But was tempted by the price and promotions.

Any gal can share their experience? I'm quite concern with the pillars blocking guests' view of the stage and LCD projector screen.

attended clueless oink's wedding and it was a big mess actually....
and their management just cant be bothered to reply or handle their compaints after the wedding was over (probably thought since the money earned already, then just f*** it....

heir waiters and waitresses are all not trained, and i had my glass of wine filled with SARSI at least twice.... it was a big screw up and whats more, we wanted white wine (which was stated as available), we were told that NO WHITE WINE was available. It appears that they (the managers and waiters) just cannot be bothered since our friends specifically told them red and white wine were available.

Really, in the words of a true Brit (which I am not), they're all tossers....

Hi, can btbs in 2010 help me with my doubts? I requested for a 2010 wedding package from GH and i realise that SSR is not one of the venue where we can hold our wedding at. Anyone knows why?

I realise many of you here have taken up the mag/vanda room for your wedding banquet. So are you taking the magnolia or vanda room? I saw the floor plan and apparently this 2 rooms are not connected to each other.

Anyone of you holding or have held your wedding at hibiscus room? Any photos to share? Thank you very much.

clownprince.. my sympathies with clueless oink as recently i had my company function at one of the hotels and the lights just went off when my top man is having his speech.. can you imagine? I am shaking from anger the whole night, not to say that.. i am the main organiser and planner. The blackout went out more than 2 times... it was a nightmare for me.

Therefore i can understand some frustrations you may have for not having the tip top service from a reputable hotel. But sometimes situations just not within control.

It has been some time since i log into this forum and was quite surprised to see the long stretch of comments about Hyatt.

My conclusion of Hyatt.. my wedding experience with them (5 years ago) and my best friend's experience with them (2 months ago) is the same. Not at all disappointed.

My parents till now still had praises from our relatives and friends who mentioned that they couldn't forget the experience. 2 of them recently asked me for referral which i did so.

I don't regret my decision to get married at Hyatt and was proud to be a Hyatt Bride.

Hibiscus Room is gorgeous~ We fell in love with it once we saw it! The other rooms weren't in my consideration.

You will too, if you like a long & spacious march-in, lovely chandelier lights and windows by the side. It has the second tallest ceiling height, after the Grand Ballroom. Book an appt with them for a site recce, especially during a wedding setup, so that you can have a feel of the rooms.

Hi all,

I m intending to sign with Hyatt for my wedding banquet. Anymore new updates? Comments on the food, service, bridal room, favours, etc.
Any particular things to take note ? Or is Hyatt flexible with the perks?

hi cocotintin,

I m signing up for yr 2011, the pricelist is already out. There will be a bridal showcase this coming Saturday. You may check with the hotel on the details.

Hi girls, did Hyatt charge rental fees for additional wireless microphones if you needed to borrow them? I'm having some friends perform acapella for my wedding and my coordinator from Hyatt told me they're charging $65 per mike for rental.

Hi everyone, my coordinator Desiree is leaving Hyatt, and she is handing over to Hun Leng... Does anyone have any experience with the new coordinator, Hun Leng? Appreciate any feedback, thanks!

Hi whisky,

The pricelist is already out, you may send an email to them for a softcopy. As i only have the hardcopy available with me.

Hi Olivia,

I am being attended by Hun Leng. She is a nice lady and very prompt in responding enquires. I am quite comfortable with her.
So did you sign up for with Hyatt? Did you manage to get any extra perks?

Hi princess,

I signed up more than a year ago during the wedding showcase, and they threw in a couple spa package at Damai (Hyatt) and extra wedding wish, but i also tried to negotiate for more items cos I won't be having certain things like guest book, champagne, etc... quite a while already, can't quite rem... hehe. Is Hun Leng a new Hyatt staff member?

Hi Olivia,

I did actually sign up with Hyatt few weeks back and i also manage to get a couple spa package at Damai (Hyatt) and extra wedding wish.
Do you mean that the guest book & campagne is not included in your package? Or you opt out these items?

Hey princess,

The guest book and champagne are included in my package, but I'm exchanging them for something else. They won't be able to reduce the price any lower, but you might be able to exchange for other items. My BF and I find the champagne pouring and "yam sheng" rather cliched, so the bottle of champagne can change for 3 bottles of wine if I'm not wrong... that's what they told me.

Thanks Olivia for the information.

I think the package for Hyatt is already quite comprehensive compared to those 5 stars hotels in Orchard area.
What is the chareges per table that you manage to get when you sign up last yr? U r having weekend or weekday?

Any idea if they do provide any AV system if engaging any musical bands?

It seems like this forum is very quiet.... Any comment on the food and service on hyatt?

I m not sure if Hun Leng is new... She nv mentioned but it seems like she is quite new. But I felt comfortable with her in all the coordination, we have done so far...

so how u find her then?

I'm having a weekend dinner, it's the same quoted on the website :)
I believe Hyatt has the basic sound system for the band, but from what I've heard, their sound system is not very good, so if you wanna make sure all's okay for your band, then it may be more advisable to rent your own system. I also wanna have a band down, but after considering, maybe I'll just stick to my own music playlist or just engage a 2-piece band.
I think food and service pretty standard, won't say it's exceptionally great or lousy. Hyatt wasn't my first choice, but after months of searching, I got pretty sian so just settled for what I thot was acceptable. My BF and me dun have very high expectations, so between us, after attending about 4 - 5 weddings there, we decided to just go for Hyatt :)
I haven't interacted with Hun Leng, so wanted to find out more :)

Hi Olivia,

Thanks for the info.

Not too worry ba.. i believe Hun Leng will do a great job in your wedding de.. Hyatt is not our 1st choice too.. bcose most of the hotels we shortlisted the date has been taken up by other couples..and my sis's mentioned that the food there is nice..
So we signed up with Hyatt too..After viewing the set-up , themes, bridal rm, & those miscellaneous things in the package.. overall it is quite ok de.. hopefully the service and food will be up to a 5 star hotel de standard ba...

Hi,

I'm currently shortlisting Hyatt as one of my weekend wedding venues this coming November. Due to the small number of guests, I was offered the Camelia room. Though I'm impressed with the hotel ambience and settings, the Camelia room doesn't really impress my wife and me very much due to the gigantic pillars, absence of chandeliers and the short walk-in. As we've no chance to see how Camelia room will look like when it's fully decorated, I was hoping someone here can share his or her experience of the wedding banquet held at Camelia room, be it as a bride, groom or guest.

This is the only issue bugging us, besides the inflexibilties in offering additional perks.

Thanx very much.....

Hi Bret,

I have also booked Camelia Room at Hyatt for my wedding . I am also having small number of guests...
To my knowledge, there is no pic on Camelia room for viewing also from the hotel... But there is not much hotel that can accommondate such a small number of guests too..
That's y I m choosing Hyatt.. I m being told that it will be the same as what is shown in the pic the hotel shown me... just that only a small scaled..
As for the pillars, you can place 2 projectors so that all the guests are able to view when the gueste are at the either side.

What perks did the hotel offer? Perks in the standard package?

Anyone has the pic of the setting of Camelia Room for wedding event? Pls share...Appreciated!

Hi Princess,

The perks they offered us are the standard ones plus those in the recent bridal show. But I'm still not comfortable signing on the dotted line without experiencing or knowing how Camelia room will look like when fully decorated.

The other one I'm looking at is Traders Hotel. I went to see an actual wedding decor and was impressed with the room for 19 tables. And it has a long walk-in as well. But of course it's not as grand as Hyatt.

Hey, u mind sharing your package with me? If not, can pm me at [email protected].

Thanx.

I'm also planning for a small wedding, hence Camelia would have been the best fit for me in Hyatt. Attended a wedding at Camelia in 2008. Find the room unimpressive, due to its low ceiling, shape & presence of pillars. Among all the rooms in Hyatt, i love the Hibiscus Room the most. Like the long (but not narrow) walk in, the windows along a wall, and direct access for kitchen servers through the doors at one end of the room. Similar to Regent's Tanglin Room(another consideration of mine). HTB preferred Hibiscus to Tanglin as the latter had a couple of pillars at the windows which COULD block some view of the guests near the windows. The walk-in space was also narrower in Regent, and the room looked kind of old too. I like Regent's decor theme, but due to these considerations & some other inflexibilities, we decided to go for Hibiscus @Hyatt instead.

Do ask to see the roooms when they are decorated for weddings. You'll have a good idea of how the rooms are filled out. For me, I definitely wouldn't go for Camelia. If you're really keen on Hibiscus, I'm sure the catering sales manager will be able to assist you & propose alternatives on how you could have Hibiscus instead. Options could include upgrade yr menu, or increase a few more tables, add a dessert buffet, etc..

Bret, i attended Trader's Hotel wedding show recently. They gave $30 off for each table, the room looked great, the finger food & mocktails were tasty, we won prixes haha, etc. Still we didn't book the package, as I preferred somewhere more convenient. Trader's a good choice for smaller dos, also The Oriental's Atrium Suites, Fullerton's Straits Room, Regent's Tanglin Room.

Hi Bret,

My package is the same package as what is posted at Hyatt Singapore website now.

We did go around from hotels to hotels for viewing, and those hotels we shortlisted need a min spending amt or min 25 tables in order to use their ballroom.
Hence these hotels cant compromise and we need to give up on them. Then I was being recommended to Hyatt by my sis... as she told me that the food there is nice..
So we make arrangement to go down for our on-site viewing... To our surprise, the service provided by Hyatt was amazingly.. With our parents along.. they explained each and every details so well,
even my parents are happy with their service... and assured us that everything will be done up nicely during our wedding banquet...The set-up of the function room (not sure if SSR or hibscus room), bridal suite,
package...are all very cozy and comprehensive..

So although Hyatt is not our first choice in the first place, in the end, Hyatt bcum our choice for my wedding event.. Now I m looking forward to my food tasting and follow by my wedding.

Hoepfully will be an memorable one for us...

Do consider Hyatt ba...In term of branding: reputable with rated 5 stars hotels.. If u read all the past treads in this forum, u can also find out that the perks in Hyatt are quite standard even for the extra perks given during every bridal show...
There is a kind of standardization there...

This is just my opinion for sharing... Anyone has any more experience with Hyatt, pls feel free to share in this forum ...... Many thanks!

I'm intending to hold at Hyatt this year.

Hi Bonnie,

I havent gone for the food tasting as my wedding is in Jan'2011.

The food tasting for 10pax is complimentary as this is included in the wedding package.

Bonnie, i've gone for my food tasting. Food is mostly tasty, portions are generous, except for the fish which is much too small & we only had 9pax during food tasting! Of course as many people would observe that during the actual banquet, quantity & quality is further compromised, since the kitchen would be handling food for many more tables.

Full VIP & guest table decor is set up during food tasting. U'll need to decide and inform your co-ord nearing the food tasting date. Do ask for a bottle of the wine u have selected to taste too.

Hi,

I've shortlisted Hyatt, Regent and Traders. Will take a look at Regent this week. However one lingering question remains - is Regent as reputable as Hyatt to the public? It seems like people may be more familiar with Hyatt. So will the ang baos be smaller for Regent than for Hyatt?

Sorry for sounding so cheapskate but I just want to make sure. :p

moonsafarian

Haha, Bret, those 3 u hv shortlisted were also in my consideration. For Regent, depends on which ballrm u looking at. The grand ballroom is lovely & all themes are available. Attended the wedding show both at Regent & Traders. For Hyatt, I prefer the smaller rooms, since I dun hv a large no. of guests, i went for Hyatt. Regent's smaller Tanglin Rm looks older & narrower & the side pillars may block view of guests.

In terms of location, Hyatt wins hands down. In terms of food, seems Regent has an edge since it was a reputable Chinese restaurant. Hyatt has no Chinese restaurant but I believe the food is good, both fr personal view & friends' experiences. I believe Traders is in a different category? I like the mocktails they served during the wedding show. Tasty & attractive looking. Part of the package I believe.

Hope the above helps.

Hi Moon,

I definitely would have gone for Hyatt if not for the unimpressive Camelia room. I was impressed with Hibiscus room as well but the problem is I do not have so many tables to meet the requirements as half of the guests will be attending the banquet in Penang. U mentioned yours is also a small number, so may I know how did u secure Hibiscus room? Did u boost up the no. of tables?

Thanx.

Hypertonic > my package, signed late last year, includes food tasting, not sure abt the current one. Best to check with yr catering sales manager.

Bret, if u could activate yr PM, I'll send u a message.

Ok, I guess I'm gonna take Hyatt then but they doesnt any perks/promotion.
Food wise, I do think its not a problem but service is not too good cause I work in their banquet before so roughly know how bad it is.

bonnie

Most of the banquet waitress/waiters are part timers and if u are unlucky u might bump into the first timers.

Some don't know how to remove the bones of the fishes.

As for some hidden bad services are in kitchen maybe most hotels are the same la >,< close one eye

Hi, I would like to have some suggestion on the theme. Hyatt has 3 table color linen black, white and french vanila. Anyone has nice theme to share using white or french vanila linen? color of runner used across table? Type and color of Flower used? etc

Hi, this is the colours and floral selections that my coordinator gave me...HTH!

Colour of Table Linen (Overlay/VIP Tables - Gold, Maroon, Platinum and Cream and Guest Tables- French Vanilla, White or Black)
Floral selection (Roses and Orchids of various colours, Baby's Breathe and Gerberas)

The pictures of the themes sent to me are the same as what moon has posted above. I've not seen many people use Gerberas though?

Has anyone taken up the package at Hyatt before but called in their own florists to do the decorations? In order to follow their own theme etc. Does the hotel allow this?

My friend's wedding used gerberas (orange and red) and I have seen pics of a wedding in Hyatt using gerberas dyed pink and blue as part of their themes...

Does anyone know if they charge any additional charges if we choose to have any accompanying flowers (in addition to what sunflower mentioned)? I'm intending to have orchids with birds of paradise and ginger flowers.

Olivia> Gerberas sound really cheery! Would you be able to post pictures of the setup with gerberas or share where you saw the pictures with the pink and blue gerberas?

olivia_n

Hi sunflower :)

Sorry I don't have pics of my friend's wedding... But here's the link to the website with the blue and pink gerberas:
http://alittledream02.livejournal.com/tag/grand%20hyatt

Focus on the 2nd pic for the wedding held on 23 Jan 2010 in Magnolia Ballroom... You can see the flowers on the cake as well as in the background.
Sorry, might not be what you are looking for, but I guess the next best thing to seeing the whole setup physically is to search the net and see what other wedding dinners look like..

Hi girls, I'm considering of shortlisting Hyatt... anyone has the package details for 2011?

I called the catering department to check but was told 2011 packages are not out yet. help help~ =)

Thanks~

Hi Olivia, thanks so much for the link! Its very helpful. =)

Hi Adeline, I think package details would be more or less the same but pricing will increase. Maybe you can write in and ask about whether they can give you the 2010 prices for your wedding in 2011. Heard that some hotels do that for weddings that are earlier in the year.
