Hi Hui,

I've the same bad experience with De*****. When i met her, she told me i don't need to rush over and sign the contract at bridal show, told me the next one will be coming soon.

Actually i was very keen to sign wif hyatt, so after two weeks i emailed her again, asked her when will be the next bridal show, she replied and said there won't be any.

so i asked her in that case, am i able to get the perks, since at first i wanted to sign up at bridal show, and she herself told me i should not rush over things, and she said she'll call me back. which nvr happened.

We waited for her call for a week and finally we gave up and give her a call, we asked her how isit? she jus gave us some "can't be bother" attitude and we asked why she nvr call us back , she only laugh.

in the end, we gave up on hyatt, we rather go for another hotel rather than have to deal wif her.

I was very disappointed with hyatt service.

Hi,

The standards of Hyatt has really dropped with my recent bad exp with them. After much complain we were compensated. Its actually not the compensation that we are after BUT......
Just to name a few bad exp, food tasting wasnt good at all and we complained and compensated for the food tasting. Floor plan given was wrong, jocelyn, pls double check your floor plan again with the banquet manager or whoever in charged coz mine was held at sir stamford room. Luckily actual day food was not so bad to out relief. My coordinator was De**** too unless there is another coordinator by De*****. After dinner, our first nite was spent in darkness when there was a power shutdown aft midnight which the coordinator claims that our room are not suppose to be affected but dt knw why is was still affected which was the reason given by her. Nvm, around 3plus am, the stupid power came back and woke me up coz all the lights came back up, that really pissed me off. Just to share some of my bad exp. Tricia, i agree with u with the cant be bother attitude given by De*****, maybe because she was just handling someone's job when the person who close our deal left.

We were thinking might be because we only wanted to have less than 20 tables that's why she gave us the "can't be bother" attitude.

anyway, i won't recommend any of my friends to hold their wedding there as I'm really disappointed wif De****.

So far my coordiator never give me this kind of problem. Just hope my wedding will go through smoothly. =)

I totally agree with both of u!!!! (Btw, i also have less than 20 tables). This Dexxxxx initially was ok as she gave us quite a good deal when we signed the package with her (in Feb'09). My bad experienced with her starting from the arrangement of food tasting. Can u imagine she never took the initiative to contact us? Somemore she arranged the food tasting date wrongly. I was quite angry with her, she said she actually has emailed me regarding the date changed. we fixed at 19/10 and she said she emailed me on 14/10. The date was so close and everything so last min, i tot she supposed to call us immediately??!!! So lucky i emailed her in the 19/10 morning, i just din waste my time going down at nite.

I really tthink that this Dexxxxx cannot make it.

How's ur food tasting that day? i actually did pass by ur room. I like ur flower set up! My food tasting was bad, all the foods are salty except the last dish - dessert. Haha...

I thought my coordinator suppose to contact me after the food tasting but she did not do that. Just now i sent her a very sarcastic email and asked her " do u have anything to ask me about the food tasting"? Now become i'm the one who take the initiative. Really qi si ren!!!

My food tasting quite good leh.
I thought our food should be similar?

Our table setting is Black and Maroon hehe! Although I quite like the decor but I am not taking it coz my evening gown is maroon and black. I dun wan to be the backdrop during my dinner =( so I am taking the Gold and White =).

Mine is on 26/12. Magnolia/Vanda room.

My previous coordinator was Rad***** but she moved depts so she passed my coordination to Des****.

I think for me... before they can bug me. I bug them. If I don't hear from them w/in 3 working days which is the standard customer service response time, I would bug them for details and information I need.

So far, it is quite ok.. So keeping fingers crossed.

I guess I am the top scorer. lol. I went for a site inspection in April last yr and confirmed my wedding in July last yr. Within that 1.5 yrs (my wedding was 2 mths back on 20 Sept), I have changed 4 catering managers. lol. From Andy to Myra to Maran and finally to Merlissa. Though there were so many managers taking over my file, all the information was passed down correctly. Their follow up was better than what I have expected and indeed very professional.

I'm sure every manager will take some time or probably days to reply to our emails. To make yourself feel better, always remind ourselves that we are not the only wedding couple who they are attending to... However, if you think it is top urgent, why email? They are always a phone call away

I really have to salute Merlissa! *thumbs up* F1 was driving her nuts but she still took time to reply my emails and ent my phone calls. I sincerely appreciates her effort. She is really like a friend to me. A friend who is willing to go the extra mile to make my dream wedding come true!

Anyway my wedding was in the Grand Ballroom. My friends (younger generation) loves the black and red theme that they took so many crazy photos! Almost all my guests (even the elderly) commented that the food was superb and Grand Hyatt is very very generous with the portion.

To be frank, my family and I was really mad when the AV system gave us problem. It really made me feel upset for a few days. But David (the banquet manger) is very very patient and polite. He just kept apologising to us and gave us an explaination on what went wrong.

Regardless which Hotel, I'm sure there will be problem here and there... It really depends on how you look at it and how you get it solve. Its your BIG day!

Hi Kenneth, I was there on the night when there was a power shut down. Think the sales person couldn't stop this from happening either. It is really not the fault of theirs. My sister had the same sales person as you and she was fantastic. she was also helping someone else who has left.

In all fairness, we all know that floor plans are not drawn to scale. So long as the numbering is right, it really doesnt matter. The coordinator drew the floor plan correctly, however, when the operations did the setup, the spaced the tables out a little causing the table to be placed beyond the floor plan. I think this was to give our guest more space as well. So it was actually a good thing. (although my guest were divided by the red carpet)

I am now planning for my own wedding and decided to have Desiree as my coordinator. She is very accommodating and from what I have experienced through my sister's wedding, I think everybody has their own individual views of the coordinator and it is not very fair to judge them because we can't get what we want.

I still take my hats off to Desiree as my sister and friends who've had their weddings handled by her has given very positive feedback.

Of coz i understand that the floor plan is not drawn to scale, but the floor plan given to me was WRONG, thats why i was pissed off. i knw she cannot stop the power shutdown from happening, its the reason that she gave was not satified. Imagine your first wedding nite was spent in darkness, WHAT will your reaction be???

I guess perhaps its only right for you to be pissed.

The reason my sister got for the blackout was probably the same as yours.. Apparently the blackout was supposed to be on different wing and particular few levels. Somehow or rather something went wrong and the whole place was in darkness.

Even my sister's function room was affected as our dinner ended late.

Also, when negotiating the deal, what are some of the things that we can "bargain" for?

Just had my wedding dinner at Sir Stamford Ballroom on the 13 Dec. Hyatt service is good =) so far no complaints =)

Thumbs up for their services and will like to thank Brenda for her excellent service =)

hi giraffe, i just had my wedding dinner at Mag/Van earlier this month. The pillars are definitely quite big and blocks ppl's views. but if u are ok with arranging with Hyatt to have ur videos/montages screened onto LCD screens at the back of the ballroom, then shld be fine. if u want more details u can pm me?

Just today I was given two coordinators' contacts for Hyatt.... one is Des***(lady) and another is GP (lady)....

anyone has experience with either of these?
Who should I contact for negotiations on extras/ perks?

Hyatt is quite rigid with extras and perks. What is offered is usually that unless you can substantiate the reason for more.

Anything to do with the wedding is done thru the coordinators. Don't have experience with either coordinators mentioned.

Can anyone share with me how the Camilia room is like and if there are any pictures. I had initially booked the hibiscus ballroom but had to scale down the wedding sue to my MIL's passing etc. So had no choice but to cfm camelia without even seeing it cuz i already paid the deposit. My AD is 30 May 2010. appreciate your comments and if u cud send me some pics of the room. Thanks!

Hi all.. Seems like Hyatt doesn't have a very good reputation for service! But I quite like their comprehensive package. However the pricing's not out for 2011 yet.. need to wait until this quarter end.

For email to contact Hyatt, I did it through the meeting request form on their website instead. HTH!

Hi all, my dinner was at Sir Stamford Room last October. Was very pleased with the services, food, SSR and with the red and black theme. Do consider Mandy Wan as your coordinator. I think she deserves much compliments in this forum. I found her after reading her professional services through this thread long ago as well. Enjoy your day if you are already a hyatt's bride-to-be.

Would like to share with you gals my experienced with Hyatt..

I really thought everything went smooth during that night until yesterday my hubby's sister asked me how come no wedding favours on that time. My reaction was huh? cannot be!!! I have communicated with my coordinator Dexxxx n she said will arrange for it. How come don't have?? I have confirmed with a few guests and my photographer as well, so happen he sent me my photos for actual day...

Can you imagine how shocked i was when i heard it??!!! My hubby n I was too busy that day...so din realise it. None of my relatives and friends told me till yesterday...

My requirement is very "low" as long as my coordinator has fulfilled those basic items that per said.. But wedding favours are part of the package and she still forgot it!!! I think this is unforgiveable...

I have sent the email to my coordinator - Dexxxx and Mandy, waiting for their replies now. For those who having the same coordinator as me, u really have to follow up closely in order to avoid unhappy incident like me.

Your coordinator is definitely at fault but I guess you share part of the blame. Your helpers should have noticed that they were missing when they entered the room prior to the start. Should be rather obvious.

Anyway don't brood over it since it's over! Just ensure that Hyatt gives a satisfactory resolution.

Understand your unhappiness, mine wedding banquet at hyatt was a mess too! Was pretty upset with them with the actual day management of the wedding.

A Lot of items that were previously agreed on were not executed as promised. They even got my table set up in the WRONG colors.

Thankfully, I happened to be down to the banquet hall to look for some stuff and had a rude shock of the color combination... Managed to get them to change it before the wedding banquet.

Sent a long complaint to my coordinator and didnt get a reply. Until, I had to escalate up to higher management and now I am waiting for them for satisfactory responses. Did you manage to get any reply from them.

so, did u get a reply from hyatt on ur favours? we are looking at camelia cos the seating capacity suits our requirements but their service does not seem that good huh? i am quite particular about service & whether the co-ordinators are detailed & meticulous enough or not...

I got the reply from my coordinator and said is banquet captain in charge's fault as he forgot to arrange for it. She told me warning letter has been issued to him. For this, i couldn't comment it as i did not see the letter and also don't want pursuit further as everthing has came to the end. Hope my feedback to them will benefit to the next couples (at least they won't forget again.)

Although the wedding favours are not very costly, it do serve part of the impt role to the dinner. It just like "starter" for the guests. Anywhere, my coordinator has offered us 4 persons meal at StraitsKitchen as a compensation.

Everything went smooth actually except the wedding favours incident. Their services quite prompt and i did not receive much comment from my guests. Don't worry :>

Just to share with everyone my experience so far with Hyatt. This is one my earlier choice as the hotel is the handful with a dinner venue available on our chosen date, (even after reading the rather negative comments in this forum).

As our schedule won’t allow us to go down to see the actual wedding venue set up, I have requested the coordinator to kindly send me the floor plan and picture of a wedding day set up. It is one week from the date of request, and I still haven’t got any reply.

Set in absolute contrast is the Four Season Hotel, though they only have lunch venue available, the service and response is super! My coordinator will response to my query within the same day, and will actually call to inform me once she sent over the info to my email.
Both are reputable hotels and I am sure Four Season’s staffs can’t be less busy than Hyatt staff, just really can’t understand the long delay. The photo incident is not the first we experienced, we have a long wait for them to send me their wedding package as well.

With that, I actually scrap the hotel off my list and shortlist some other more reputable hotels/ restaurant. If these are the kind of service they provide even before we sign up the package, I can foresee the headache we going to face subsequently. I trust the last thing we all want is another worrying item on our mind during our big day.

Hello. Did anyone decorate the banquet tables on their own? Care to share?

I've been 'banned' from using black tablecloth during the wedding by my parents and the white cloth seems rather plain. So i'm looking for some suggestions/ideas? Thanks!

Hi Jenny,

the cream table linen is the base only. There will be a different coloured overlay which you can choose. Think u can choose between gold, silver and red/maroon, depending on the kind of feel u like. if u like the elegant and simplistic look, no need to add more "decorations". I think the flowers etc will be sufficient, if u're ok with classy and simple.
i chose cream linen with gold overlay during my AD Banquet in Dec 09. Flowers i took Pink Cymbidiums with Pink orchid blooms.
