not yet. going on mid of sep. Is it possible to change some dishes if we dun like it? like change chicken to prawns. And top up required?

Shirley, There are 4 favours but all are edible: chocs, pineapple tarts, brownies and choc cake. Most popular are the chocs.

amidamaru, Depending on what you change, top up may or may not be required. Gotta check with your coordinator. I changed lamb to pork cos not many pple appreciate lamb and no top up was required.

Hey I have a max of only 22tables, thot of holding my wedding there too. Which ballroom is the nicest? Seems like the magnolia room not very ideal bcos of the weird march-in that some of you mentioned. What is the minimum no of tables that is required in the respective ballrooms? Pls share..

hi amidamaru,

The food tasting is pretty good. The food was a little cold cos they actually cook it on a different floor. But on the AD, the food is cooked on the same floor so it won't be cold. I chose half chocs, and half pineapple tarts. Everything was wiped out! Even the favours on the spare tables were gone.

Hi Jojo,
I think better check with a coordinator. Cos heard some rooms going through renovation. So they are best equipped to advise you on the rooms. I personally like the feel of the Hibiscus room though... but couldn't take cos too small.

Sorry Jojo, I don't have any pics of the theme yet. My photos are not with me yet. I think previous archives have some photos of the black and red theme.

Hi,

for those who choose the black & gold theme, will the room look very dark? i like the black & gold theme but afraid that the whole room will look dark.

Hi June,

When I went to the wedding show a couple of months back, I enquired about the Hibiscus room for June 2008 but was told it would be under renovation, hence had to settle for the Sir Stamford room... is there a lot of diff between these 2 rooms?

hi unicorn_pmy, Sir Stamford Room is wider than Hibiscus room. But capacity wise is the same. 28 tables max. I prefer Sir Stamford Room coz it's slighter more spacious than Hibiscus room

Hi unicorn_pmy, my AD is on 07Sep2008. How about you? I am going to switch my room from Magnolia/Vanda to Sir Stamford room. But my future MIL have to cut her guest lists.. :X

Hi claris,

I'm sure it's allowed, cos we had our guests do those popper thingys and the hotel was totally ok with it. Umm, you know which poppers I'm talking about? The ones that everyone likes to "pop" at New Year's celebration parties.

The Hibicus Room is the prettiest ballroom in Grand Hyatt. Unfortunately it will be under renovation from Dec 07 - June 08 (tentative date)

The rest of the ballroom arent that fantastic. Low ceiling too.
I went for a wedding dinner very recently at their Grand Ballroom and it was not very fantastic.
The food is okay only, and the service was alright.
However I must say the sound system sucks. Sorry but maybe you will like to bring your own sound system there.

IMO, the price is not v worth it.

Hi Bluebearypie thanks for replying.
I contacted the catering manager, this is what she reply in the email...
Kindly be informed that real flower petals are not advised as it may stain the carpet should guests step on them. As such, we would recommend the throwing of confetti should you be keen to make this arrangement.
So I really wondered if any hyatt brides have any experinece in this...

kittyng , i think Claris . mentioned above her co-ord doesnt allow her to use fresh petals , as it may damage the carpet if people step on them .

even with confetti , it has to be opre arranged!~

i'm having 2nd tots !~ .OMG

Btw , anyone using the black /red theme ??
suppose to have runner lights , as it will be a darker theme as compared to the rest , am i right ?

Hi all

Just had my wedding dinner at the SSR, overall comments were that food was really good and guests were impressed with the service. Credit must be given to my banquet manager, Guan Li who had been a fantasic coordinator, always willing to go the extra mile for us. A million thanks to Guan Li ;-)

We were advised not to have small baskets of petals on tables for throwing for the same reason but during the walk in, guests used rose petals splattered on the guest tables (meant for deco) instead so...

I used the black/gold theme, my close friends love it cos it made the place very classy and cozy.

A point to note really would be the sound system, would be good if you can afford to bring in your own/rental.

Overall no regrets, hope this is helpful for the other BTB.

hi Shirley, how are they going to use SKR? Just curious about it.

I am thinking of black and red or black and gold. Red might please the elderly a lil though. The gold seems like dull gold or is it shimmering gold?

Celeste , you mean we could use the petals on the tables ? arent those fresh petals too ????

For ur theme , runner lights was also used ?

my tots,
Black & Gold theme , suppose to have a classy ambience.

Black & Red , suppose to give those old time , lao Beijing retrospect.

I should be taking the black theme but will most likely requesting for pink petals on the table instead as i like the contrast.

Celeste, thanks for the advice. I did hear a lot of comments abt the sound system. So this is quite worrying...

Hi Pang

Yes, those are fresh rose petals which are meant to be part of the table deco setup and my guest just used those during the walk in...something that we can't help, ;-)

Runner lights?? Err??

Actually the colour combi of black/gold or black/red doesn't really have a big diff as it's just gonna be the VIP tables (and the ribbon sashes). The rest of the guest tables will be in either black or white table linen/chair covers.

Hi Kittyng
No worries ;-)
