Ya I also think the pure black theme is more classy, makes the ballroom very cozy. If both parents are not supertitious then can go for it.
Black and gold should look better than black and red, my personal opinion..u think?
I need to confirm soon for my food tasting mock up setting.

For me i will prefer Black and Gold theme than Black and Red theme. Mostly, i will use the Black and Gold Theme. By the way, when is your food tasting mock up? My food tasting will be 7 Sept and my banquet is 4 Nov. Have to confirm in late Jul or early Aug.Still not sure what type of flower for VIP and guest centrepiece.

My food tasting in on 3 Sept and AD's 12 Oct. Ya, hope there wun be additional charges.
I am thinking red roses but draw back is it's very common, baby breath I dun quite like.

Any bride out there using black and gold theme for AD? Would like to seek your advise for the type of flower and colour to use as centrepiece for black and gold theme? I'm not thinking of using any red roses and baby breath as it is too common. Would be good if you're willing to share the photo of your centrepiece.

Normally the food tasting will be 2-3 months before AD. You can collect your cards anytime, just call your coordinator.

You need to book a date for food tasting with your coordinator. As with the invitation cards, let your coordinator know your perference on choice of cards and collection will be arranged from there.

my wedding is sept 27 and the theme that ive chosen is the gold theme (ie. gold overlay and gold sashes for table and chair, respectively) rest of the guest tables would be ivory/white. however, ive told my coordinator that this wouldnt be my final decision until i have my food tasting session on 5th jul.

Not sure if you still need this. I was a bride of Hyatt too. My wedding was in Sep 2005 ( so long ago
) but one of the 1st few brides to use black theme at Hyatt.
U can try black, gold red.... mine was that for the theme (mainly black & gold theme but red roses too )
My sis having hers next Jan at Oriental , black silver, purple....
Guess my family loves black but agree that it was really classy...
Many of my frens and relatives were impressed by the theme....
Let me know if you wana take a look at my table settings ( but not sure if it's available still)

Btw, mine was at Grand Ballroom. The lighting is adjustable.... u can opt for tea light candles (like mine) if you really find it too dark, but I guess if the room is too bright, doesn't really go with black theme though

I received your emails. Thanks for sharing and it was really fantastics and nice setting after looking at your photos. For your VIP tables, is it black table linen overlay with gold table linen or just gold table linen alone with black chair covers tied with gold ribbon? Did they charge you for guest seats cover ribbon? And how much did they charge you if any? Thanks

Most welcome....it's black table cloth with a layer of gold sash covering, thus on the sides, it's black and gold.
Mine was in 2005 and it was when they changed the flowers themes (to the ball concepts and think they changed the chairs) so my sash was complementary.
They did mention that the sash was chargeable but not the ribbons that was used to tie it up, think not so stingy
But the extra request I had was to splatter the red rose petals on the table, this made everything less boring adn my guests love it.
You have to request coz some hotels charged for petals.

We can choose from 3 reds and 3 whites. If you want, you can choose 1 red and 1 white. So if you have 30 tables in total, you can have a mixture eg. 10 whites, 20 reds, depending on how much red/white your guests drink.
Ask your coordinator for the choices. I managed to get a bottle of red to be served during the food tasting but you can buy the rest from outside and bring it to the food tasting session. There's no corkage charge

In the end, we decided to go with Willowglen for both red and white. It's our favorite of the three. But do remember wine preference is a very subjective thing

I had a super bad experience with Sharonlyn last time and finally changed a coordinator to sam aju. he is equally bad.
don't response to email. don't pick up calls. Just wondering how can i make them respond to me? My wedding is this oct and I am trying to get a food tasting soon as my bf is working overseas and he rarely takes leave to come back on a weekday. Now the opnly weekday he is available for tasting is still in limbo. its so frustrating. The actual day may be good but the experience before that is terrible. potential customers thinkl carefully before signing. I really regret big time. If you've a good coordinator good for you. However if you get bad attaitude in the beginning most likely that will stay. It is a culture for hyatt staFF not to respond to calls or email.
