hi grand hyatt btb ,

i went to see the actual set up for approx 31-34 tables at MAgnolia/Vanda room last Sat , realised that the pillars was quite an issue , when they only provide 1 lcd on the right side ,an additional one would cost another 650 ,
an additional spliter cost 200+ is also required .

im having 2nd tots on doing it MAg/Vanda room .
(reviewing the contract now)

Can any confirm if Hibiscus can hold 28+2 tables ?? or if 28 is the max. no of tables including spare tables?

MAny Thanks in Advance

pang, i was told that the 2 lcd screens are complimentary. Yes additional spliter cost extra though. Mabbe u can discuss it with your coordinator?
Hibiscus to hold 28 will be quite squeezy. Mabbe u can consider SSR? Max 28 too but at least it's wider in width.

Hi all, I have just held my wedding at Mag/Van. I would agree that the pillars are an issue and the 2 LCDs would only alleviate the situation a little, unless you want to spend $650 for a switcher where the video can be played on the TVs.
Other than that, I got no complaints from all my guests and plenty of compliments about the food and the service. No problems with sound system too.Think I'm quite fortunate.
My most important banquet manager, Guan Li is fantastic. Experienced and meticulous. Assists us in all ways possible. Its really thanks to him for making our dinner a success.

Hi Tassie,

Congrats on your wedding and glad you had a great time on your wed din. Any pics to share?

Wat theme did you have? I'm thinking how the reception will be like? Is it going to compliment the theme we choose? Not very sure as I forgot the layout i saw during the bridal showcase.

Hi Kitty,
Sorry pics are not available yet, maybe in another 2-3 weeks time.
I went with the white and red, dint go for the black theme. But certainly the reception matched the theme we chose.

June ,

Thks for the suggestion .
I went to relook at the venue on Sat again , realised that , they have changed the table arrangement slightly , thus minimising the affected tables by the pillars. This was slightly better than the first time we saw.
(wtb didnt complained that much this time round)

Tassie ,

was wondering if you just held ur dinner last sat ?

hi ladies, think this thread is getting quiet. Hope all your preps are well. I've not done much as my FH is not in sin.

I'm starting to feel the pressure, haha... Finished sending out all the invitation cards. Now waiting for RSVP so that I can finalise sitting arrangement. Besides wedding banquet, still need to plan for buffet at home. Quite a bit of details to work on...my parents were talking about borrowing chairs so that all the guests can sit down and eat!

hi autumns07,

Did you send out any sms or email to RSVP before sending out invitations? I saw my friend doing that and it was quite effective.

So you having buffet at your new hse? Wow.... sounds like it's getting more and more nervous.

Dun feel pressurised and enjoy the process k

Would appreciate if you could share the pictures to [email protected].

Hi,

Thinking to have my AD at Grand Hyatt next year.
Can anyone share perks that you have, those not written in the contract?
I can only choose 2 wishes and thinking betweem wine per confirmed table, complimentary barrel or free projector? Coz i was told that rental of projector will cost me $300+.
Nothing that i can bargain, I am not sure if they are that strict or I am no experience to bargain...

Hi bbp,

i see... coz we are thinking to outsource own wedding cards, so we are looking for exchange. My coordinator mentioned that he cannot change to anything else. Another way is to tell him what I need and see what he can do to help...But we are not sure what we are missing..

Any advice on what I should be looking at?

hi luvz,

To me, the must-have ones are wine and beer so I would really push for those. The rest are nice-to-haves. But at the end of the day, it really depends on you and your hubby.

agree *nod nod*
that is what I thought too...

not sure should take hibiscus or magnolia/vanda. coz the no of table i am looking will be 25- 30.
definitely I prefer hibiscus. bt thn if i hit the max, it will be quite packed. i dun mind mag/vanda due to space but then I am concerned of the pillars.

When's your AD?

I heard that Hibiscus is undergoing reno sometime next year? Yeah, totally agree that Hibiscus is much nicer, perhaps even nicer than the Grand Ballroom.

luvz17

huh? serious?? he din mention anything about that. He still brought us to see the room, so I guess I am not affected??

My AD will be 7 dec 08

hi luvz17 ,

nope, u arent not affected . the reno in Hibiscus should be completed by sept according to my co-ord.

for ur case , u need 30 tables minimum for weekend , in Mag/Vanda room .

so , i think u should get hibscus instead , cuz urs is in the range of 25-30.

umm.. as for perks , try to ask them for additonal wish .

I think they could add an addtional one for you.

prior to that , ask them for a lcd projector without utilising the wishes .

Cheers!!!@@

Hi pang, i jus came back from biz trip. Thanks for your suggestion. I would take that into consideration cox still deciding on venues for my PS
happy.gif

luvz17, i think SSR can oso accommodate 25-30 max, pillarless and u can have the whole level on your own. I heard it's slightly wider than hibiscus.

Hi all,

I just held my banquet at Grand Hyatt on 2 Dec. Everything was great, especially for the service provided by the banquet supervisor/captain, Guan Li. He is very professional and tried his best to help us with the coordination (tho i have friends helping me). We gave him a headache (hahaha) when my march-in start in the middle of the song. But his timing was PERFECT. If you have Guan Li helping you with the wedding, then you have no worries. Food and service were also very good,in fact much better than my food-tasting. Portion was big. It is even enough for 12 pax.

But i cannot comment on the sound system coz i brought in my own service provider to do it.

Thumbs-up for the overall experience in Hyatt.

Oya, i held mine in Sir Stamford Room.

To all gals whose wedding are approaching, remember to enjoy your wedding day !

positive remarks would be really gd service, gd food and big portion, great ambience...everything perfect.

another extreme food really very very bad that is definitely not worth the money. sound sytem was so bad that they had to repeat 3 times before they get the correct march in song.

Unicorn,
I paid $1750 for my sound system. It's so ex coz i had mine in 2 rooms, 1 on SSR and the other in SKR3. So they need lots more logistics. If you are only using 1 room, maybe ard $1200?

June,
photos are not ready yet :p Will send you an email once ready.

Hi all,
heard that the sound system of Hyatt not gd?...but which ballroom is that? or is it all the ballrooms sound system are not gd?

Hi yan zi,

I'm not sure if it depends on luck or something. But I felt that there wasn't anything wrong with the sound system. Maybe my ears not that sharp to pick up lousy sound
happy.gif

The only problem we had was the system couldn't play the mp3 CD that we compiled. But it had no problem playing original CD. So maybe their system is anti-piracy? Haha.

Hi all,

Had my banquet at SSR in Hyatt recently in Oct. Would sum up the whole experience with 1 word - fantastic. We decided on Hyatt after looking at 1 other hotel cos we were pretty impressed by the facilities and the service rendered by our coordinator, Mandy. She's really patient with her couples and I would say, pretty prompt in responding to us as well. Package was pretty comprehensive and we couldn't exactly think of many other things to ask for. Banquet went very well too, and we also had Guan Li as our captain. Like Shirley said, his timing is superb and makes a great coordinator overall. So gals, can try to ask for him as your captain.

Can't really think of any problems that came up though. Oh btw, they have very nice bridal suites. Received an upgrade to the Grand Corporate Suite with a great bathroom that comes with steam room facilities.=)

Dear all,

I had my wedding banquet on Dec 10 at Hyatt, Magnolia/Vanda. Everything went well for me. Most importantly, parents, relatives and friends from both sides are happy with the food and service. I will probably not be visiting this website frequently. If you need any advice, feel free to drop me an email @ [email protected]. Good Luck to everyone!
