Copthorne King's Hotel

hi siling, I just signed up mine with them.
happy.gif
Their package include pre-cocktail reception..i.e. they will serve soft drinks/tea and those peanuts to your guests at their seated tables before the dinner starts. HTH. hehe..

thanks mercur05 for ur reply! so its not those pre-cocktail reception that are held lk outside the restaurant or ballrooms?

sorry ah, ask so many qns...

haha... nope..I don't think its those served outside the 'ballroom' ba..
I didnt ask them abt this cos I thought the waiting area outside the restaurant is not very big to cater for huge crowds, so its best the guests can go in to sit at their tables. But I did see 2-3 standing tables at the outside area so I presume if u want to have some pre-cocktail reception, u can request that from grace or Mr Gan? hehe..

Have u gone to visit the restaurant?
For me, we were lucky that there was a wedding dinner held that evening when we went to see the place. So have the idea of how it will look like on actual day. IMO, I think it's very cosy. My HTB likes the place loh, though there were some slight concerns.
happy.gif

Our concerns:
(1) there's quite a few big pillars blocking view from the stage. However, Mr Gan showed us the 3-4 big projector screens that will be put up to cater for guests seated at those tables, so they'll be able to see us. He said that during dinner even in some other places with no pillars, guests will also have the problem of sitting back-facing the stage or else they are too far from the stage and so makes no difference to guests seeing the couple on screen. hehe...
To me, I agree la. Anyway, to solve that problem, I think I'd get my "distant relatives" to sit at those tables whereas my closest frens to sit at tables near stage. hahah... *winkz*

(2) stage is abit small. Mr Gan suggested and showed us how the lineup will be for the toasting session. Basically, there'll be 3 rows, with couple standing on the stage with parents & friends. hmm... to me, this is not much of a big issue la. :p Frankly speaking, I guess it'd be quite loud during the toasting session cos the place is cosy witht he right atmosphere. hehee

I think and get the impression that CK takes cares of the couple very well. I think they know where their shortcomings are, and they'd try to do their best to overcome those points. Example, not sure if u've seen the march-in aisle which is somethg like a "Z" shape, Mr Gan said to facilitate the bride during march-in, the flower stands are hung frm the ceiling instead of placing along the asile which may obstruct brides with big long gowns. hahaa...

another point I like is hmmm...the bridal suite. Got balcony and small jacuzzi bathtub (if i rem correctly). ahhaha... location wise is good too lei. Just take 1 bus outside hotel and can reach tiong bahru mrt. It's also near Clarke Quay, so mayb during late afternoon, if u haf spare time and not tired, u can go there take photos lor:p
And of cos not forgetting that it's near ZOUK!! hahaha... so I think if you have friends who are frequent customers of Zouk, they'd love there cos they can go there to party after your dinner , esp if next day is holiday or sunday. hahaa...

Oops, i think i wrote alot..hope it helps u in your decision.
P.S: I'm not sure about the food wise because my wedding is next yr, and havent gone for food tasting. So pray pray it turns out fine! (*^o^) hehe..

my suggestion is that both you and your fiance should go down to view the place first. Then you'll know whether you like the place or not.

cos diff ppl haf diff concerns and ideas of how they want their wedding banquet to be.

CHEERS!

Hi mercur05, thanks for ur detailed analysis! haha... yea, going down this sat to take a look. also at a time where there's a wedding so can see the actual set-up.

u signed up le? cos i saw in their website that if signed up b4 31 dec, can have free flow of beer and wine! keke...

i also agree w wat Mr Gan says abt even in ballrooms where they are pillarless, people at the back and side cannot see the couple coming in. So by placing the screens at strategic places and having live feed of the couple marching in seems to be a gd idea. so no worries on this.

mi concern is on the parking lot as i have many relatives and friends who own cars. so its kinda of headache... also not too sure whether they have enough parking lots. did u look into this the other time u were there?

no offense here but does the place feels v "china"? cos that's that the impression that i got when i see the fotos on their webby.

haha... ya lor.. signed up le.. yep yep, got the free flow of beer and wine, so no nid to worry abt buying barrels/bottles of beer & wine. :p

hmm.. me not sure abt the parking but since they offer 30 free parking slots, so i presume shld be quite ok ba..haha.. i tink their carpark is behind the hotel even though the front part got slots too
happy.gif
mayb u can ask them abt this and enlighten me on that? :p

yaya.. the place is abit china types especially the entrance of the restaurant..hahaa.. but not a very big prob to me, cos my relatives are mostly elderly so prefer restaurant types.. :p whereas i want hotel event. So in this case CK fits my choice cos it combines both options!! ahahha... restaurant in hotel . :p

one more thing to add is that the photo on website only shows the normal look of how it would be on a Non-wedding day. During wedding day, the restaurant is "transformed" into quite a cosy nice place with the decorations
happy.gif

The lift is just right in front of the restaurant, thats why the reception area may not be very big.

Hi mercur05,

went down for site visit already... the place is not bad actually. Grace is really very helpful and friendly.

Forgot to ask her abt the carpark n cock-tail reception as cos since they are having a wedding dinner that nite so she's kinda of very bz but she still try to hlp us in watever way she can by explaining and answering mi other qns. even ask me if im driving so that she can give us a complimentary carpark coupon. Good service!

saw the set-up. its indeed quite cosy. but that's the only theme that they have inorder to accommodate to the design of the restaurnat. neverthelesss, its v well-matched.

hihi, sorry for late reply..
hmm.. i didnt get any extra perks cos it seems like they have everything included in the package already. hehe.. the good thing is the promotion of the free wine and beer bah..
happy.gif

glad u like the setup too.

Can you please update if the package still available as i interested to pick up the package. 92776385

Thank you

William

Shanie,

Not to worry, the size is good for up to 35 tables. It's rectangular shape with lots of projector for your montage and live feed. I had mine for 32 tables in the main hall. Quite cosy. Visited last month for my girl fried's wedding. Very impressive. They even changed the flower decoration hung from the ceiling with candle rather than flower stand. Much better from mine. Go there for a site inspection.

please call me at 97483373. my wedding is on 18th july 2009..... thus, i would like to check with the banquet mgr whether the date is still available....

seems like the package they offer is pretty attractive. the food quality wise? is it above average?

can we negotiate to have both red wine and beer free flow?

i see the deco and design looks abit china and wooden type. is the place old looking or dirty feeling? is a restuarant or ballroom?

thanks

As i mentioned food is good.
If you are having large number of table think you can try to neg with them.
The place doesn't looked old at all,it was neat and tidy.Personally i think it is better than a lots more. You might want to go to view it personally.

Agreed w Livia. The food and ambience is very gd. Same goes to the service. Also, gd advice from the team. They will ensure the whole event goes well. However, what's gd for us does not means for you as standard and benchmarking for each of us is difference. Let's put it this way, I feel that my money well spent. You may decide your own, your call! Best to test, go for a chat!

Got to know there is a wedding show next month 28/6/2009 from 1pm to 5pm. We are the regular guest now to the Tien Court. My hubby is so sweet, wanted to do a wedding anniversary for me, Ha Ha! They even have a wedding anniversay package, not bad! Good luck to those wanted to have more freebees! I signed up mine during the wedding show too.

Hi..Am interested with this hotel..Care to share more..

pls adv if the banquet is in the ballroom or in Tien court.. I only have 20 tables.. Dont thk will have much bargaining power.

Agnes, care to share more abt the wedding show? Need to register?

Hi Elbarc, the wedding is held in Tien Court that can be convert to ballroom. Very cosy set up, not just the 4 walls like ballroom. Comtempory and zen design. Warmth and cosy. Min of 20 tables on weekend is neeeded. But we are allowed to wait till the last one week to re-confirm the no of tables. Good practise caused we actually need to increase 5 more tables. Understand the show always has better deal. Don't lost the chance. You may want to go to view first before the show. Good luck.

Hi gals, i'm looking arnd for my Wedding Banquet Venue, thought of taking CK too but just read through this forum and found out that the In-House Wedding fair is over. *Sad.

Can Anyone share with me your package detail and price during your signing of their package?

Can post here or email me: [email protected]

Hi yating,

Did u sign up during the show?
Do u mind sharing ur package details wif me coz I heard CK has a nice ambience for chinese wedding.

Dear all,

Went down for dinner yesterday for our anniversary. Understand that there is a wedding show on 11/10/2009 from 4-8pm. I had my wedding package from the show. Worth the while to look up for.

any more recent feedback on Copthorne's King?

seems like there's very little reviews on this hotel, makes me think twice,

so bascially Copthorne King's Hotel has a restaurant Tien Court for smaller scale weddings, and a ballroom for larger scale weddings right?

I felt their co-ordinators are a bit slow in reply..afraid to pick this hotel..

help!

Jo Yong,

Based on my personal experience, I will go for it! Why not call Gan Wong at 9777 5329 ? Call him for a chat and see by yourself. He did almost everything for us. That's why I keep going back to the rest now and become their regular. Gd luck

Have anyone just attend or hold wedding at CK? If yes, don't mind sharing? My AD is on 23 Oct 2010. My co-ordinator is Jenny, so far so good. Hope everything will be soomth. =)
