Copthorne King's Hotel

Ballroom? They don't have ballroom I think.
the whole place is the restaurant and if you have sufficient no. of table, they will then open up the partitions. Depending on the arrangement, the entrance could be either the main one or other door.
The reception is within the place.

Hi isabel *wave back.
=)
Can i just check with you on what do you mean by the march in is straight? Was told by them that it is in a "z" shape march in.

Hi gals,
Has anyone view the themes for the wedding dinner?
Kavitha told me they changed the florist but till now I have not seen the new themes yet.

kitcat, the march can be straight if you choose to use the other "stage" and not enter from the main door. But I think this stage might be smaller. Forgotten to ask them, beside the main screen, will they provide 2 side screens at each side?

jiali, I have not check out also. I remembered she mentioned something abt crystals decor initially.

Eh? The plan i was shown is that to march in from the door to the right of the main door to the resturant. Thus it would be a lighting zag kind of shape to reach the main stage (which is not big either).
Is there any picture of the straight march in?
Have not heard anything about the changes in florist also. Only know that now there is a choice of using the bubble machine for the march in.
I have seen the crystal theme. Quite nice.

You just visualise the red carpet is extended to Table 21, and the stage will be at table 20 and 22. Could only be so if you close up the quater left side of the place so that the layout be more balance.

Got bubble machine? We were not informed. thks.

For those gone for food tasting, any dishes should take note?

Thanks Isabel,
I tried to contact kavitha but no news from her.
I sign my contract in late march and she told me there a change in the florist.
So she told me mostly likely to view new themes in may but till date i got no response from her.
The first time i was there viewing the one of the old theme, the setting was ok but the flowers used was totally cannot make it.

Was the crystal theme nice? What flowers they use?

I would like to know more about CK. Any good or bad reviews?

The service provided by Karvita seems not very consistent. I am quite worried to look for her as a coordinator. Who will u recommend as coordinator? Have u heard of Kim?

What are the perks that i can ask for? Can email me at [email protected]

Done with our food tasting. Generally, my family mentioned the food was not bad to good. Few dishes I thought were weird but our families liked them, so we didn't change the menu.
Service was good too. The ornee was yummy, my fav. Hopefully, they can maintain such standard during my AD.

Hi, not much activity in here.. looks like not many have signed up for Copthorne Kings Hotel banquet lately.
My hubby to be and I signed up for a dinner banquet, paid the deposit of SGD 3000 abt 3 mths ago.. Till now, they havent sent us the contract yet.. Is it common for this hotel to take so long to send a contract? (we only got the receipt of payment of the deposit).. The person in charge of our transaction is Carmen. Any brides taking this package up have any problems? We have called up a few times, they say will send to our email/ address, until now havent sent yet.

Hi,

Think it's normal. We also signed the contract not when we paid but later. Think best if you go down after calling khavitha and get the contract from her? Carmen is very nice and warm however, she is only in charge of the chinese dinner at the restuarant there.

Hi Kitcat,
Thanks for the info. We went down and met up with Gan Wong, the director of F&B. He discussed with us and gave us the contract to sign after our discussion. Very nice fellow. Next, we will decide on our menu during our food tasting and also choose our wedding card design.. Need to get them printed though.. Hv to decide between the nice white/cream ones and those red red ones . Good thing is actually can choose some designs with both red and white cards. HOwever, the design we like doesnt hv an option of red cards.

I managed to get same size cards (red and white) which are nice. And so i haf two kinds of cards to give out which is cool. Maybe you might want to consider this.

Ours is over!
During the dinner, I tried the 1st 4 dishes and found them slightly different from our food tasting session. But my hubby's boss commented the food was too good and value for money. Phew!.....My bride-maid was surprised the restuarant was not those cheena type. Those I've asked agreed both the food and atmosphere were good.

Even the chef came out to chat with one table.

Fortunately, the only hiccup was to happen during our hotel check-out.The front counter staff didn't realised we were given some food voucher and despite our explanation, the lady we spoke to (a very blur gal)just waived off our sandwich order. My hubby had to flare up before their manager took over and realised it was truely our entitlement as per our contract and subtract from the total bill accordingly.

hmmmm seems like they keep getting hiccups here and there which is very strange for a hotel doing weddings.
So far, i am quite nervous about the actual day as there are already some incidences along the way. Now hope that actual day food is okie and that the ordering of the food after the dinner is also okie.

Hi everyone,

Copthorne King - Tien Court is one of our top choice for our wedding banquet in 2008.

Can anyone recommend us a good and responsible coordinator pls? Any contact nos?

Which are the dishes which u had tried and are really good pls?

Thanks =)

kitcat, the actual day food will be fine. I believe they read our comments here.
Beside that blur counter gal who also peeped into our wardrobe for our safe when it was just beside (hahaha), their housekeeping team from china should stop giggling n talking among themselves when asking the guests for room clean service. Our bestman said they got excited too easily.....my gosh.

Michelle, I'm not a sea cucumber fan but I found it good. It's a fav dish among the guests. So is the shark-fin soup though I expect it to be clear soup base. Ornee is my fav. My gf said the fish was huge. SIL liked the scallop with fried chilli. The food is comparable to other gd restaurants, exclude the cheena decor.

Last of all, the children luv the bubble effect. But you can request for the smoke type instead.

I'm not sure who is the coordinator now. Gan Wong helped us eventually.

My coordinator is khavitha. Actually choose the place cos of the deco initially. Cos we could do an oriental theme and found out later they are famous for their food. Now just praying nothing happens to smear our day. Hee

Well, one thing is sometimes some of their people are not very clear what to do to help a wedding couple. Thus, now just hope everything runs smoothly. My big day is just less than a mth away! Will keep you gals posted as to how our day turned out!

Hi Isabel_n and ladies here,

Thanks for sharing the info. We had met up with Kavitha, the F&B assistant manager.....Does anyone hv the contact for Gan Wong?

Went to my gd fren's wedding banquet last week.
Think the air con at Tien Court broke down....it was so stuffy and hot. Many guests had to remove their jackets or shawls. The deco was quite dark....not nice....many guests and friends complained that the food serving was small and not nice. They were all very disappointed that the bride and groom paid abt $700 per table for this kind of standards....

So after all these negative feedback, my FH and I are very disappointed cos many people had mentioned on the web that Tien Court food is good....but the dishes were all below standard during the wedding last week.

We are seriously reconsidering Copthorne King - Tien Court....does anyone else have other venues to recommend?

OMG! my wedding is less than 2 weeks away. Hope nothing happens.

Actually my husband and myself chose this place cos it is unique. They are unlike the normal ball room of hotels which are kind of standard no matter how nice the deco are.

Mich, check with you, were the deco maroon colors? Now i am rethinking of changing the color theme.

~~pray hard

Oh dear Michelle, that's bad. Their lighting also broke down? Did your gf demand for compensation?

Then we must be blessed for at least our night went smoothly and our guests were happy. Somehow, the color of the flowers and cloth which I chose blindly, blends in nicely giving a romantic feel.

Yah, kitcat. Do update us yeah.

Hi all, i read the other priviledges include having live telecast of the march-in and stage activites. Do they really have it and who will provide the service? So is it a ballroom or just restaurant? can someone share their photos with me on the ballroom n suite. Thanks. my email: [email protected]

Hi Jeni,

Yes package inclusive of live telecast of the march-in & stage activities. It's held in a restaurant (with pillar) that's why they actually provide projectors for those "blocked" tables.

Have check the tien court today, i went for lunch air-con ok. the lighting was ok too. think the couple requested Dim lightings, or something. I even talked to the technician who will be mending the lighting & video montage.. the lights could be dim & to full blast depends on the couples arrangment. if couples requested photos to be played throughout the wedding dinner, lights will be dim than the usual.

they are having wedding show tomorrow for those interested to drop by.

Hi All,
Had my wedding last evening 09 Nov 07, Smoothly beautiful.. guests left happily, some said the portion of food too much to clear. Even with those which had a table of 11pax. food great, lots leave great impression of the restaurant.
Feel that we made a great choice.

Hi PSM,
Wow great to hear good feedback on the food! What was the package you took up?
Just to check if the projector is clear?

Hi jess,
I took up the package during the BridesAsia 2006 Exhibition. the projector,it was not only clear, it was big enough for our viewing from the red tables.(sound system play great part too.I heard the restaurant across received bad comments) I had red colour theme with the Fresh Red roses displayed, the whole place look astronising. My relative loves the oriental finish & took lots of photos..every corners of the restaurant....they didn't expect the place look so good. chkout the photo attached.
We also had string performance during pre-wedg dinner which also received lots of compliments(in the package)
we had litte problem with carpark spaces but later solved by the valet parking.

Another WOW! String performance really match with the oriental theme!
Right now i'm afraid that ppl sitting behind the pillars might feel "unimportant" athough they do provides 3 projectors to view but it's more like watching video though it live telecast.
I have choosen Tien COurt cos of the oriental theme, i find it very cosy. Hahaha..
Just to check how many free packing will you given?

Had great feedback from guests, great & friendly staff, helps to arrange baby seats & even provide children plates set, so the kids were having fun, parents were really impressed.
I was taking tables photoshoot, one of the tables decided to Yum Seng, the waiter hand me a glass of water quickly. Also, we had photo album projection during pre-wedding dinner, chilhood PP during 1st march in, photos of GuoDaLi pp & last morning express, the whole ballroom were full of laughs, everyone had great view of the projectors. So no complaints from our end. Gan wong was incharge of our wedding. He's great help also when tro the whole wedding sequence with our Emcees, giving advices to the "sisters" mending the reception table.

Hi all!!!!

Phew! everything went on smoothly as i had jitters after hearing some complains. However, the staffs at tien court not only did what is expected, they did even more! The resturant packed food for us even when it was initially not part of the contract (plus plus points!) and all our guests had great comments about the food that night. Room service was prompt and great and everyone enjoyed themselves. Best of all, we did not feel any stress from the hotel staffs for our payment and they just let us deal with it at the appropriate time! Its really a fantastic wedding for myself and hubby and we left with light hearted warmth in our hearts. We are even contemplating to have our CNY luncheon there (i missed the herbal prawns) for 2008.

Hi all

I just had my wedding at Tien Court last Sat. Saw some couples checking out the place and thought that I would like to share my experience with you at the hotel. ïŠ

Everything at the wedding dinner went very well. The staff was very accommodating and looked after us very well. My guests commented that the food was hot and nice, the serving was big and everyone had more than enough to eat. The deco was very nice too.

Mr Gan was very helpful and nice. Seeing me standing at the entrance waiting for guests/march-in, he would ask if I was tired and offered me to get me a drink. I was quite touched by his gesture. He was also very pro and experienced. He gave us and the jiemeis/bros advice on how to organise things during the dinner. Carmen was very lovely too. She got me some warm water when I told her that my hands were cold from being nervous :p

Same as kitcat, we had our dinner packed for us although we didn't ask them to. They also kept left-over wine for us. The restaurant also didn't pester us for payment, so we only paid during check-out.

It was a great time at Tien Court and we hope to go back there again soon. Maybe for our first baby's 1st month... hehehe..

should i ask for a freeflow of wine or beer? which will be more worth it? and she told me one barrel of 20L beer can only fill 60 glasses... that is kind of little to me... can anyone confirm?

Hi All,

FYI, I regretted not choosing Wine over Beer, wine drinking is a tend, on mine,30 bottles of wine which total up $1K+.

I only see a couple of teens taking beer.
