Hi all, any photos to share on the ballrooms? Are all the ballrooms on the 2nd floor new? Visited the hotel just now but unfortunately all the ballrooms were locked. TIA!

Hi, can anyone advise whether there are pillars in the ballrooms? Why are ballroom 4 and 5 more expensive than the other 3 ballrooms?

@Hx, ballroom 1,2,3 normal height ceiling. Ballroom 4,5 high ceiling. The ballrooms r separated by partitions. So normally people will take 1,2,3 or 4,5. Unless u hv a grand mass weddin then u need all.

No photos but u can check their website. U can lk for william n make appt for viewing. Hope it helps

Hi puffygal, actually we intended to confirm on the spot after seeing the ballrooms but there's a tentative booking on the same day so have to wait for william to confirm with the other couple. Hope we can get it.

The renovated wing of the hotel kinda won us over when we stepped into the hotel..

Is yours dinner or lunch? Guess you must be very excited now! Hee..

@HX, wedding lunch should end by 4pm. I met up with Winnie, the date that I shortlisted, is a "auspicious" date as determined by Li Ka Shing's fengshui master. Li Ka Shing, who is also the richest man in Asia, apparently owns the chain of Carlton hotels. S$50 surcharge per table..!!! Ridiculous i think!!! They are inflexible in perks, has so many hidden costs!! Bridal suite also damn old.. haiz..~ But I like their ballroom.. so sucky!

tiffy: She told us is Li Dak Sam, and not Li Ka Shing. I have goggle and check with her on the phone again. Which date you are looking at? My wedding dinner also falls on 'auspicious' date and have to impose the surcharge. But Winnie is friendly and hubby like the ballroom so we have decided to confirm our wedding with Carlton. Been to their suite - quite old but nice view but I are more keen for our ballroom venue than room.

Haha, same here... More keen in the ballroom.. we didn't request to see the bridal suite and already signed up for wedding lunch next year..

Mine's also a lunch event. And yes, I didn't request to see bridal suite either. I think the ballroom atmosphere is more important.

Mine AD Is at mid of 2012. Agreed that whatever they can do they will tell u upfront. Therefore I think there will be no more perks to hide from us. Do anyone know how long before ur AD they will be contacting us?

Linda - Think William said that the couple should arrange for food tasting around 4 months before the AD.

Hi btb, I saw carlton's menu does not serve sharks fin. Would it b any concern to relatives n families? Besides tt their perks r v limited. :/

Tamko - There is sharks fin in Carlton's menu.. Did you see correctly?

Selina - For ballroom 1,2 & 3, the min no. of table is 20 and for ballroom 4&5, the min no. is 25.

Attended a wedding yesterday. shared foyer n ballrm 1,2,3 ceiling nt v high. 4 n 5 better n new bt requires extra $. I was surprised n disappointed that food was not as good as raved. Only the roasted chicken n yam paste were exceptional. The rest were mediocre. Service is great though n staff were very attentive n drinks were refilled super promptly.

Hi HX, nope, decided against it because I wasn't for the shared foyer and height of the ballroom. Overall, weighed the pros and cons and decided for another hotel.

Hi Hx, ops i saw wrongly. Haha btw had viewed the ballrooms le, empress 1-3 is very plain & low celling. N their perks r the least i ever came across, everything oso have to pay $$$. Lol most prob gonna drop this place.
 
I like their ballroom 4 & 5, with min 28 tables for weekend. It has high ceiling and L-Shape march-in. Nice decor too. But true, they are inflexible with their perks.

I can only meet their ballroom 1,2,3 min. tables requirement. Ceiling not high, rather normal ballroom.. so still considering.

shortlisted holiday inn orchard city centre and carlton. but chose carlton eventually mainly due to the location and ballroom. hope we made the right choice!
 
is the ballroom nice? me too deciding between the empress ballroom 4 & 5.. and pan pac ocean ballroom.. did you manage to take alook at their set up or bridal suite? is it nice?

We went down twice to look at their set up just before the actual banquet start..and we really like the set up and the ballroom. Did you went down to have a look? If not, you should

ohh... i'm meeting the co-ordinator on the 25th june.. but the co-ordinator somehow not so friendly when talking to her.. like 'bu nai fan' like that... but will decide between carlton and pan pac.. wonder if anyone went to book banquet without master's date...

Hi Carol, my coordinator is William and he is quite ok... but can tell that he is very busy... Are you going to consult master on the date? Think will be easier to check the ballroom's availability and can confirm faster if you have the date.

Currently they only have 3 wedding coordinators and one lady is still on maternality leave so they are really short handed. The person i liaise with is from corporate event dep, only helping out William as he is really too busy! The lady Joanna will be our coordinator when she's back. HX, when is your actual day? Carol, first and foremost you shld consult a master to get all the good dates and slowly narrow down your choice given the avaliability of the date and the min number of tables, ballroom and etc.

Hi gals, hmmm I did consult on master for dates but unfortunately for 2012 after hungry ghost festival we onlygot 2 Saturday, the rest all is weekday
And Sunday, my partner don't wanna Sunday so only sat lor.. One is July one is sept but too bad sept my date for pan pacific they don't hold wedding dinner cos of F1..

So my Partner die die wan 2012, but if he really like either one than jus see when is available than we jus take.. But I feel safer to follow master's date.. But well, all this is jus a guide, afterall is how we manage the relationship right?? Sigh I dunno.. Very stress.. For 2013 there whole load of Saturday for us.. So if die die don't have we will jus book for 2013 Jan.. Partner think it's too long.. Haha.. Sometime it's hard to please lor..

Hi Carol, is your AD at end of sep? our AD is at end of sep and quite a no. of hotels around the marina area would not open their ballroom for wedding banquet. So ya, limited choices. If you guys hve the dates from the master why not follow it..anw u have paid money for it. Lol. U shld check if your date is avaliable at Carlton and from there u guys can decide later..

Hi Carol, agreed with Jermaine that you can check the hotel's availability on the recommended dates.. Yah it's just a guide so don't have to be too stressed about it since you still have time to plan.. easier will be setting a date first then confirm hotel or else u will have alot of combination of options to consider.

hi gals, my date is july 28 2012 & sept 29 2012... both carlton and pan pac are taken for july and sept is tentative booking.. im only meeting the carlton co-ordinator in 25/06/11, so i dunno still available anot..

but still can try though.. ya marina area all close for the F1 thingy.. hahah.. if not worse come to worse will choose jan 2013.. but is like too far later.. will be having my ROM this year..

actually you can just enquire which day they are having wedding banquet and you just drop by before the banquet start to take a look at the ballroom on your own. we did that before we meet up with the co-ordinator also.

if you really like the ballroom, you can ask them to check with the other couple if they want to confirm the date, if not they can change the tentative booking to under your name

haa.. mine 2nd choice is 29-09-2012 lor.. i think its a sat or is 28-09-2012 is a sat?? i forget what is the date le.. so since both side dont have the date i wan i also nv go take another look at 2012 dates.. i'm looking at 2013 jan date.. hahaha.. last option.. hopw the hotel can let me book for 2013 if i really wanted..

I went down carlton ytd, i like their ballroom and the long march in. I'm looking for sat dinner. However, carlton's package is not that gd with 25 tables. For weekend package, min must haf 28 tables then can choose from their wish list. Without that list, the perks like v pathetic

Sckyl: Is Carlton willing to reduce the min. tables to 25 for weekends 2012 (Sunday)? I asked Winnie, but she told me 28 tables is the min. Thus I decided to give up cos in the end I can only have up to 25 tables max.

I must admit their ballroom & long march-in certainly beautiful.
