Hi! What do you think of an outdoor wedding?I am thinking of having one but have received some "disapprovals" from older folks as they say it would be hot and humid and the make-up will melt. Has anyone had their wedding outdoor experience to share? I am thinking of having it at RSYC.

Hi deluxe, we just had ours over the weekend at One Rochester, which is partially outdoors, and partially air-cond. it was a blessing in disguise that it rained in the afternoon so the evening air was cool. If you have you wedding in the evening in an outdoor location, it should be ok, provided you also have enough fans to circulate the air... There's just something about having a wedding outdoors that gives it a more relaxed and romantic feel... but if it's in daylight, I'd suggest having it indoors...

Hi Tonya, thanks for sharing. Did you feel the humidity?
Hi Jo, did you have your wedding there? How about the "warmth"?

Hi deluxe, I don't think we felt hot or any humidity at all that evening... I think the lush greenery also helps. Not sure though if it's by the seaside. That's more likely to be humid, I think...

I did not have my wedding there but I had some friends planned their wedding in Sentosa by the beach ~ So far, the weather had been great but also frankly we cannot really control the weather lah hee... sometimes in the afternoon, it was a bit cloudy... but it is always good to have Plan B

Hi Tonya, is it possible for u to share some photos of the ambience at One Rochester? I'm quite interested to hold my dinner there... =)

hi Tonya I've been thinking about holding a wedding at One Rochester. But it seems to be a pricey place. I'm wondering how much you'd spent for your outdoor wedding? Do you mind to share the information about the package etc? such as No. of guest, food etc many thanks in advance

I took a look at the link above..absolutely lovely! Thats what I want for my wedding!

Hi Yamei, ye, it was pricey, but to us, its about having a wedding you will remember for the rest of your lives. If you're hoping to break even on your wedding day, One Rochester isn't the place to go to. It comes with a price tag, with individualized service (Though I'm not sure if management has changed - our wedding co-ordinator resigned already).

We had only 85 pax, and booked up the whole place, so it came up to almost $200 per person... but that included all the alcohol, food, cake, flowers, valet parking and so on. Click on the link below, which is more specific to One Rochester...

hi Tonya, thanks alot for the info! Yeah It indeed comes with a price tag. It is over our budget..

I really like the place a lot! What a shame..

btw you got your cheongsam custom-made? You looked lovely in them. I am trying to find a tailor..

Hi Yamei, No prob - if you have a larger guest list (150 pax) then it'll probably be cheaper for you - hey told us it was a minimum of $14k to book up the whole place. I think on a per head basis (basic stuff, no alcohol someone else was quoted just over $100 per pax). So if that's reasonable to you then try asking ;)

Cheongsam was from my bridal boutique, Silhouette. I took an OTR wedding gown, and had the blue cheongsam custom made. It fitted really well!

I think some of the boutiques do cheongsam only too... but the last time I asked Dang bridal how much for their lovely cheongsams, it was $1,800!!!

Yeah, nothing to lose to try finding out and see if I can get anything within our budget

oh gosh! Its unbelievably expensive!! I'm making a trip to Shanghai in May. I was told that its pretty cheap to have a cheongsam custom made over there, so hoping I'd get one made which is not more than $500.. and it would be as nice as yours!

Hi all,

Am also thinking of having it outdoor and perhaps at Labrador Park. Anyone has experiences to share regarding this place?

Thanks!

i did thought of rochester for my wedding... but it was even fully booked 1 yr in advance.. thus i forgo the idea..
i did everything from basic. i booked a venue from fort canning park (as its dogs friendly), tentages, F&B, sound system etc... i think its a much better idea.. no restriction at all...

Hi,

I'm also looking for outdoor wedding venue.
Sit-down dinner, with marquee.
Had thought of The Legends. Any other recommendation?

Hi,

You may also like to try HortPark (1 Hyderabad Rd, off Alexandra Rd)green pavilion area.

My colleague had his there and it was beautiful. It gets better when night befalls and your guests would be able to enjoy the soft carpet grass beneath their feet!

Quiet and great outdoor experience.

PM me for some pics of that place. (but pardon me..i only have a few..)

Just had my wedding at HortPark ... venue is lovely ... but you get bare minimum support from the mgt ...

Unless you hire a good caterer to help you ... I had ISS Catering, and they have done a Wonderful Job. I have only praises for John from ISS.

Hi Triana, possible to send some photos to me too? Am also considering HortPark. My email is liying dot lee at gmail.com.

Thanks!!

Hi, any recommendations for a beach wedding? am hoping to have my wedding dinner on the beach or somewhere near the sea.

hi dears...

my htb and I are looking at outdoor wedding...

was wondering if any dears had recommendation for sit down caterer?
do they include staff to serve our guests?
hehe..

thanks thanks..

Hi!

I am selling a Villa Halia outdoor wedding package for Sat 23 July 2011.

My experience with Halia so far has been very good- they are very flexible, and try their best to accommodate on requests. Marianne (the coordinator) is also very quick in replying emails. I also find that the florist they work with is very creative, eg. combining hydrangea with orchids!

I have always wanted an outdoor wedding and thought Halia was perfect for its lush greenery and it is sheltered! (most outdoor places in sg are not sheltered!). The place is also v cooling cos of the surrounding plants and no mozzies too.

Sadly, I have to let this go as my guest list is now way too long.

Do drop me an email at [email protected] if you are keen.

Hi Triana,

Do you mind emailing me the cost and experience at HortPark too?

I'm looking for outdoorsy wedding, but with marquee and catered buffet for like 300 people.
