Hi Ladies,

I'm getting my own evening gowns but will like to rent a gown from Amanda Lee and have Sophia as MUA. Is there some sort of package like this from her, as in just renting of the gown? Or must I buy the gown?

I've signed with Yu Hsin from Tinydot Photography for my Pre Wedding Shoots in Paris, For Period between May 17 to May 24, 2009.

Im looking for another keen couple to share and split the cost of the Makeup artist's service fees, flight ticket and accomodation.

Any keen parties for Pre Wedding, Wedding or Post Wedding shoots in Paris during the above mentioned period?

Hi ALW brides, I've just signed up to be a ALW bride (so exciting!) and just wondering does anyone have any suggestion to whom I should ask for to be MUA. Also, are there any additional items that I can ask for? :P

Congrats!! Seems like for MUA the ladies here are liking Sophia... She's my MUA too but I have yet to have any trial sessions so I can't comment, but I've seen her works, very natural. She seems friendly too when I called her...

As for additional items, I think that the package states it all... Since after all photographs are a separate issue so for the gowns I think that's about it? But photographers and florist are people you can talk to instead...

Besides Sophia... there are these 2 MUAs that are highly recommended by TG Goh (celebrity make-up artist). I actually called him to ask about his availability for my AD but he's already booked. Then he chided me... saying that Joanne and Jasmine from ALW are already very good... shouldn't need to look outside.

Hi anyone can share how much does ALW package range from?
i dont like to walk in bridal shop their sales person seem to be very pushy.

IMHO with ALW you can just go and make an appt with them or walk in and discuss with them to find out more about their packages and pricing. With designer BS, they are not pushy at all. At least the few that I go to is definitely not pushy but very welcoming instead and very open to discussion. Btw, I'm an ALW btb.

Any ALW btb who is willing to share her bridal package with me? I have been to ALW and wondered if there is any ALW package (MTM) that is around 5k-6k.
 
i agree with natsu. designer bs are not pushy at all, unless those at tanjong pagar stretch, very hard up for sales.

natsu > who is your designer? i met up with miah before at delfi and i'm impressed by his professionalism and willingness to share his views. he's so easy to talk to. most likely i will sign up with him.
 
I guess the Tanjong Pagar stretch is notorious for that. =)

My designer's Miah. Yes I agree that he is very professional. In fact, I love working with him. He will give you honest opinions in what looks good on you and what does not but on the other hand he will also listen to your ideas and see if it is feasible. It's always keeping the options open =)

I love working with him!! He fret a little while after I told him that I love some of the gowns they did for the show recently. lolz. But I didn't change my design still.
 
good to hear another good feedback abt miah. i will feel more assured signing up with him.

during my first visit, he let me tried on 4 gowns to see what type on gown will look good for my body shape. immediately after trying, he showed me a sketch that he drew when i was trying the gowns. he already had an idea of what will look nice on me. i was really impressed! only at the end of the session, he shared briefly on his package.

he was more focused selling his design than getting the sale. this is really a different experience than those shops along tanjong pagar.

You will be in good hands... don't worry about it... For me, he did not show me any sketch for my 1st visit, mostly because at that point of time, I did not have a confirmed date but only told him that I am having my wedding this year. But at that time, he already mentioned things like "I think this cutting suits you better..."

I only signed up with him during my 2nd visit and he let me try more gowns again. By that time I believe he already knew what I was looking for also, which is good.

Definitely different from the Tanjong Pagar stretch, though I have not been there personally but have heard alot from my friends.

Agnes, ALW has very different packages due to the different tie-ins with various photographer. Their package is of the standard one. But looking at your budget, I would say it is enough depending on what you are looking for. Btw, I signed up my package for 1 year already so my package might already be different from what they are offering now.

For the details, I would recommend going to them. I recall also in this thread there is somewhere with the pricing for ALW. That price I believe might be still the same.
 
Good to hear so many good feedback about ALW. I'm with Miah too and he's been fantastic! I'm another happy bride with him and the experience has been great. He'll even help you look at accessories to see if they match your gowns.
I'll be having my 1st fit soon and really looking for it!
 
natsu > when is your first fitting? i have not signed up with miah cos been really busy at work but i will be going down again very soon and take up a package with him. i love the embroidery work and their colours. i guess that's what alw is well known for.

8klay8 > describe your gown! i'm sure your gown will turn out nice. alw takes pride in their work.

Yeah for ALW its the embroidery and colors. Colors just scream ALW but in the recent show they kinda tone down on that... so it doesn't feel very much like them.

Yup yup, I agree! I went for ALW gowns cos I have always wanted a gown with colors!

natsu> did you go to Goodwood to see their show? I never go but I saw some of the show gowns hanging in the shop and they look gorgeous! So do share if you have any pics?

when's your expected 1st fit date? mine should be early June..
BTW who's your MUA? I'm thinking if I should arrange for trial soon..

8klay8> well coz me and my hubby is not going to be around at separate times so when he went down for his suit fitting, Miah let me tried my EG. So my case is special I guess, usually you get to try all at once. Sorry I didn't bring camera there since I didn't expect to be fitted. Perhaps I will share with you the next time I go for fitting.

I have not log in to this thread for sometime already. glad that you are going for fitting and like what miah has come up with!
alw is the first bs i went and for the past few weeks, i have visited quite a number of bs. alw is still one of my faves. i have shortlisted alw, ted wu and margaret brides. i will be going down to alw tomorrow and have a chat with amanda herself. the last time i met up with miah at delfi. apparently they have more otr gowns at cantonment so that will be a better gauge of their gowns.
crossing my finger and wish me luck. maybe i will sign up with them tmr hehe lol!
 
iLuvPurin> Hi! Hopefully you will sign up with them! Are you thinking of taking ala carte with Amanda? Actually the Delfi branch has become the higher end boutique of the brand. That's why Amanda Lee Couture and I think usually Amanda will be there and Miah shuttle between both places.

I just finished fitting for my WG! super love how it is... now left with detailing and the final fitting next month. Can't wait =)

8klay8> Did you have your fitting already? How's the gown? I just went for my photoshoot a few days back... I can PM you the pics after I get a softcopy coz the photos I took during fitting is not final and really does not take justice to the gown lolz.

Can someone share with me their package details with ALW? I went down today and was served by Heather. She is a resident designer and she quoted $3880 for mtm wg (rent); mtm evening gown (rent), flowers, car deco and mua. The package does not include man's suit nor photography.

But when i read thru this thread, apparently most of you were served by Miah/Amanda. I will like to find out more if I were to engage Miah/Amanda. Anyone? Really appreciate feedback cos i feel quite bad to call Heather and ask for Miah/Amanda instead.

In all honesty she was really friendly during our first meeting but i think if Miah/Amanda does not cost exorbitantly more, i will really like to consider the more senior designers.

I never dealt with Heather so can't give you any comments about her. But Miah is definitely fantastic :D But your chemistry with the designer is really impt too. You would need someone who can understand what you want
