Hi I just went to Amanda lee and was served by heather. She seems very nice and also professional, and had a lot of ideas. Could anyone who has signed with heather please share with me your experience, and pictures of your gowns if you have? I am interested in signing with heather but most of the talk on the forum seems to be about the more senior designers.
Thanks!

Hi aom,

I signed up with Amanda Lee Weddings and my designer is Heather. I couldn't ask for more from my experience with her so far! Based from my understanding, some designers from other boutiques only meet up with their customers once only for design session. However, I've met up with her at least 3 times to discuss about the designs of my gowns, and each time I meet up with her, she comes up with new ideas based on our previous discussion. So she basically puts in the effort to refine her design etc to come up with a design that you'll be satisfied with.

Also, she sometimes discusses her designs with Amanda and Miah, so I don't think you have to worry that she's more junior than them. With regards to worksmanship, you don't have to fear too. Amanda Lee Weddings has a common seamstress (or maybe more, but I only saw one when I went there) to sew your basic gown. The design (such as ruching, applique, etc.) are done by Heather. In fact, the three designers help each other to complete the gowns.

My gowns are not completed yet (my wedding is in August, so there's plenty of time!) so unable to share pictures of my gowns with you. Hope this entry helps those who are thinking of signing up with Heather make your decision!

Hi chrysalia!

Such a coincidence! My AD's on 7 Aug as well
happy.gif
I actually signed up my package with Heather in September 2009. Rather early, I know.. hehe.

Because I signed my package early, I have actually worked out a large part of my design with Heather and will be going for my first fitting in February. My pre-wedding shoot is in late April, so I needed my gown by then. If your pre-wedding shoot is not so soon, you have nothing to worry about. And I'm sure Miah knows his schedule and the amount of time he needs to work out the design and make the gowns in time for you.
happy.gif
Most importantly, enjoy the design process of your gown! It was a very fun and interesting experience for me, figuring out what works for different body types and styles. Think it probably helps if you actually show Miah some photos of gowns that you've seen and like too.

Heather booked Sophia for me as my MUA a few months back. I checked with Heather and she assured me that MUAs can take up to 2 brides' makeup sessions a day, so there shouldn't be an issue that we have Sophia on the same day. What time is your fiance picking you up on Aug 7, and when will your dinner be held (assuming you have one on the same day)? I have not worked out my morning time, but I will be holding my solemnization at 6.30pm. Hope there are no clashes!

Sophia couldn't make it for my pre-wedding shoot at first too, so we rescheduled the shoot instead.

i oso haven't worked out my morning schedule, most prob my fiance+brothers shd be arriving at my place ard 8-9am? i'll be having my church ceremony at my hotel juz b4 e dinner, will be starting e ceremony abt 530pm, so my makeup wld be done by 4+.. so i tink both our schedules shd work out juz fine!

i can't resched my PS coz sophia is away for abt a stretch of 2 weeks. b4 she's gone, my PG is away for overseas shoot. when she rtns, it's too late for me alr coz i'm a teacher, i need to rpt back for sch alr.

hi chrysalia,

Sounds great! Seems like there shouldn't be an issue with our timings.
happy.gif
Hope you've managed to work out your PS timing!

kailing, there are two different pricings for different designers. Amanda's package is more expensive than that of Miah and Heather. However, if you're choosing between Miah and Heather, there will be no price difference. I can't seem to find my package details so can't email you. Sorry!

Hi anque,

I see.. thanks for the info. I attended the four seasons wedding show yesterday and they featured amanda lee, and i really liked some of her gowns. I talked to Heather at the booth but she was telling me that they do not have any package, amanda will charge based on each gown she MTM for the bride, is that true?

Ling> Amanda has been doing ala carte for some time now IIRC. So if you would like to engage her, have to check how much will she price it.

personally, I don't think you will have problems with the other designers. I had Miah as my designer and I love working with him. I had no idea what I want totally but he just gives me idea here and there and I was very happy with my gowns! After my PS, I requested for him to do some additions to my gowns and he gladly did so.

Hi ling,

Sorry for the confusion, the term "package" is used differently here as compared to at other bridal studios located at Tanjong Pagar and the like, where "package" includes photography, videography etc. The most basic pricing is based on one wedding gown, one evening gown, makeup, car decorations, hand bouquet, corsages (can't remember what else). Of course, you'll be charged more if you want more fanciful gown designs, with crystals etc. The cost of the gowns depends on the design and materials used. I'd suggest you make an appointment with one of the designers and talk to them about what you need etc, as well as try on their gowns. In fact, the designers will actually sketch some designs based on what you fancy on the first visit, even if you've not signed the "package" with them!

Dear Ladies,

Will greatly appreciate it if you could share with me your package details with Amanda Lee Wedding.

If I am not wrong, they have a link-up with Chris Ling photography. Anybody took an all-in package with AD photography?

Appreciate all info here!

Email: [email protected]

Thanks loads! =)

Aully> I think it is dependent on the PG. So far from what I understand, Chris Ling, Utopia & perhaps Vividshots too don't do AD shots. Portraits I am not very sure coz only after I signed up with them then they got a package together.

Sorry to add, what I mean is I believe it is usually not included in the package that ALW has... but you would have to top up. For Utopia, no AD PG at all.

Met up with Miah for my 1st appt today. It was quite rushed since we only started at 7pm and they close at 8pm. Miah came up with some ideas to improve on my concept. But its just so hard to visualize what he has in mind and makes me worried if it will come out right. I guess this is why some brides just take OTR since its like a no brainer. I thought I was rather sure of what I wanted but so many ideas, concepts kept flying by (which is supposed to be gd) tat Im getting lost in my vision. Do any of u brides have this issue? I'm so scared what I want will turn out fugly or what he intends to do is completely diff from what I have in mind. Such a dilemma!

Hi fidelity,

I think you can safely trust Miah. Like you say he was trying to improve your concept, in which case should be similar to what you think.

I think Miah is a very good designer and will be able to translate what you want into your dream gown, I believe I will not be the only one here who will think this.

My 2 cents, don't think too much, sometimes too complicated designs might just bring down the whole thing. Keep things simple nice, perhaps a certain kind of complexity but mainly simple in a way. If not I think on general, no one knows which part of the gown to concentrate on, as in when looking at you.

I trust that your gown will not turn out ugly, so far of all the photos & info that have been shared, I dun think anyone thought that of their gown. They were able to work with the ALW designers and come out with very beautiful gowns which I believe they all love.

1st appt meaning after signing up? If so, I think that he would have sketched something out for you? At least that is what he did for me, and I believe a few others, so we can visualize what is going to happen.

And when you go for 1st fitting, dun fret too, coz the gown is really like the skeleton, so all the fine touches will really be added towards the end...

Dun worry too much, I believe in ALW, you are in good hands.

Hey fidelity,

I just went for my 1st fitting this week. Wasn't able to quite visualise what he had in mind when he sketched out the design previously, and was a little uncertain of how it would turn out.

But I am already very happy with the rough skeleton of my EG. It's pretty simple so far, but got the thumbs up from my htb, mum and gd friend already.

(no photos though)

You can trust Miah (like what natsu says)! Miah has a great eye for colours and details!

Hi gumdrops and natsu, thanks for e encouragement. Yup, this was my 1st appt aft signing up and he did draw a sketch of what i want. It was close but the materials he suggested otherwise and other additional stuff he thought might enhance e look n modernize it (cos Im looking at lace)..He's currently sourcing for various laces to let me have a better feel and decide which lace I ultimately want on my gown. Its such a headache. The evening gown is simpler cos both of us r on common ground. Well..jus waiting for his call now to decide the final design. Havent even taken my measurements yet. Btw, we totally need to set aside more time with him cos 1hr is def not enough!

Hi Flyinghoof,

There is no package for Amanda Lee Wedding. Amanda Lee Wedding does not do fixed packages for couple to pick from like other boutique shop along Tanjong Pagar.

For Amanda Lee, the whole package is put together based on the design of the gowns you like and the material you are likely to choose. There is no base package price or highest package price. Items are put together depends on what you need. Some bride might need more gowns than others, some might like more detailed gowns than others. The design, the details all play a part in the final cost.

Hence, all brides with Amanda Lee will have different items (tailored to their needs) and price to their 'package' (depends on the design and details of their gowns).

However, as a base line, think most people will have

1 OTR/MTM wedding gown to rent
1 MTM evening gown to rent
4 Make-up including 1 trial, 1 PS and 2 AD
1 groom suit to keep
1 bridal bouquet, corsages and car decor

optional are photoshoot.

Hope that answer your question.

My WG is OTR, so Miah only got me fitted to the gown. Think the length was okay, so there werent much changes.

EG is MTM and still in the making, cos I only need it for the wedding dinner in May. Fitted about twice so far? Still need to go down at least one more time I think..

helo all, im new to this forum, would like to ask if it's too early to book an appointment with ALW if im only getting married in 2011? My idea is to have a look at the gowns they have. Izzit true that the price is cheaper if you were to book their package more than 1 year in advance? Also, ALW cater to both OTR and MTM gowns? Are the MTM gowns for you to keep or are they on rent?

Thanx
