based on my pathetic knowledge, tis is wat it means.. the roast pig is very impt for Cantonese brides cos it symbolise the chastity of the bride(found tis on a website):
"Pig [çŒª] in cantonese "ju" sounds the same as [å®«çº±ç ] "kong sa ju", the chinese legendary sign of virginity. The [å®«çº±ç ] "kong sa ju", a red dot placed on a girl's forearm as a virgin, was said to disappear when she lost her chastity."
If the groom was satisfied that his wife was married as a virgin, a gift of roast pig complete with tail would accompany the bride's home visit."
"The bride's family will only retain the middle portion of the roast pig. Included in the return gifts are clothing and a belt for the groom. The gifts are wrapped in plastic and placed between the head and tail of the roast pig. A piece of red paper is then wrapped around these."

hi Apple,

To give my 2 cents worth of knowledge. If u are asking abt whether your friend is preggy & be your jiemei, traditionally speaking the answer is cannot. Reason being the bride is supposed to be the "DA PAI" of the day and if someone is preggy, also a "XI shi" so cannot qiang ur feng tou so to speak.

If u are asking abt if can invite pregnant ladies to you wedding dinner. The answer is yes, you can invite but it is often advised to aviod. I guess in modern context these days.. it is OK to invite pregnant ladies to the dinner event.

hi all.. my parents gave me budget to buy jewellery as gift to me... initially my dad says anything i like... so i used half of the budget to buy a set of white gold + diamond jewellery... my dad seemed to be a bit unhappy and hint that yellow gold is more presentatble... but i dun like yellow gold leh... think at most i'll wear on AD only... and i dun wish to sell away gift from parents... how?? should i just use the rest of the budget to buy yellow gold to make him happy?

For me, leaving 2nd day after wedding..cos next day gotto return gowns n stuff..so mafan. Going for 16 day Europe tour..guess it'll be freezing cold. But we like cos never really been to a winter country...plus short day means we got more time to rest but still can sightsee when we're awake minus crowded tourists. Hehe..

You can talk to your dad..ask if he will rather u buy the gold chain then only wear one time or something that you'll wear forever. Initially my mum also wans me to buy gold necklace..but after I talk to her, she bought me a diamond necklace which I'll surely cherish forever. Maybe can become my chuan jia zhi bao..keke.

Btw, i just tried to do my seating arrangement...quite hard to try to put all the suitable people in the same table..I keep ending up with like 1 empty seat in per table. Sighx. Then also can't seem to fill up all the tables..

hi apple, yes. guest and not as jiemei can. because the day time u llok at shi chen to chu jia & guo men. These 2 timings are auspicious and shld bot xiang chong anything for the bride. expected BTB within 1, 3, 6, 9 mths are best to aviod weddings funerals etc. But then again it all depends on the degree of pantangness between 2 families and the bride & groom in question.

Diamond - oh dear!! cheer up. all will be well. *prays hard*

wai wai - I have a suggestion. with the budget, u can buy both sets? white gold + diamond & yellow gold + diamond? To please ur self, u can wear the white gold set + diamond with white wedding gown & the yellow gold + diamond set with Kua or cheong sum when u serve tea to ur parents during hui niang jia?
One bird kill 2 stones? Just a suggestion for u to think abt.

Ting - nope not gg to Europe for HM. Still the same reply, will plan HM after assessment of wedding expenditure.
