11 Fun and Meaningful Wedding Morning Activities for the Dawn of Your New Chapter

Make beautiful memories of your wedding morning with these meaningful activities.

The morning of your wedding is literally the dawn of your new chapter. Don’t let that special time be ruined by stress, anxiety, and overwhelming tasks. While it’s definitely important to stay organised and get your hair and makeup done on time, it’s equally important to ensure you’re not rushing from place to place or so stressed by the logistics of your wedding day that you forget to be in the moment and enjoy the only time you’re a bride.

Instead, plan for an intentional morning where you can spend time with the significant people in your life, such as having some special moments with your parents, popping champagne with your favourite girls, or write a little note to yourself to read in the future. Prioritising such activities will help to ground you and set the tone for the beautiful day ahead. To help you make the most of your wedding morning, here’s how to plan for some fun and meaningful wedding morning activities that can bring you joy.

1. Get Organised the Night Before

Set yourself up for a stress-free morning by preparing what you can the night before. Lay out your outfit, your jewellery and accessories, and your shoes. Prepare must-haves like your phone charger, emergency kit, and music playlist. You don’t want to be scrambling to find the right underwear, a pretty hanger for that dress shot, or the invitation suite for the photographer’s flat lay, right before your hair and makeup artist arrives!

2. Get a Brewed Awakening

It’s going to be a long day ahead, and you probably got up in the wee hours for hair and makeup. If there’s ever a day you need your coffee, this is it! But with 4am call times, unconventional venues, and so many things to do, getting that caffeine fix will take some planning. If you can’t order your coffee in advance, put someone else in charge of the coffee run, or stock up on good coffee or tea you can make at home.

3. Eat Your Last Breakfast at Home

If you’re moving out to a new home, savour your last morning in the house you grew up in, with a last breakfast at home. Invite your siblings and parents to join you for a hearty breakfast at your usual spots around the table, and fuel up for the long day ahead!

4. Schedule Extra Time

We know, weddings are busy events. There’s so much to get done before the ceremony that many brides overschedule their itinerary and end up feeling frazzled and rushed on what should be the most poignant morning of their lives. To avoid stressing out over timekeeping, purposely schedule extra time into your wedding itinerary. Schedule time for the moments you want to have with the people who are most important to you, whether it’s a few minutes to talk with your parents before the veiling, or a couple of moments to give out presents to your bridesmaid crew.

5. Wear Matching Outfits

If you’re getting ready with your bridesmaids, why not get everyone matching PJs or robes printed with their names. Coordinated outfits will make beautiful photos, and your crew will appreciate having something cute to wear while getting ready.

6. Relax during Your Hair and Makeup

Pamper yourself with professional hair and makeup, and use that time to relax. Munch on healthy snacks, listen to some music, or chat with your crew if you’re all getting ready together. Reflect

Take a few minutes to yourself in between all the activities, and simply sit and reflect on your emotions during this milestone. A quiet time of reflection can help to centre you and remind you to focus on the most important part of the day–marrying the love of your life!

7. Write a Love Letter

You’ll be spending most of the wedding morning apart from your groom-to-be, so it’s the perfect time to pen him a love letter. Capture all of the thoughts and emotions you feel as you’re about to say “I do, tell him all the things you love about him, and share your hopes and dreams for your future together. Ask him to write you letter too, so you can exchange them at your first look. You’ll love having these words to read again and again.

8. Spy on the Gatecrash

Having a gatecrash? Get one of your bridesmaids or family members to video call you while it’s happening, so you can peek in on the fun while your hair and makeup is getting done.

9. Have a Moment with Your Parents

Whether you do it during the veiling or set aside another time, a quiet moment with your parents will be one of the most poignant memories of your wedding morning. Feel their love and bittersweet emotion as they celebrate this new milestone with their grown-up daughter, and express your gratitude and love for them in a heartfelt hug.

10. Have a First Look

Instead of the victorious unveiling after the gatecrash, you might want to opt for a private first look to create a special moment for just the two of you. Seeing each other as bride and groom, about to embark on the biggest adventure of your life, a first look is also an opportunity to exchange private letters to each other about your love, hopes, and dreams for your future.

11. Exchange Wedding Gifts

Yes, you’ll be giving each other wedding rings during your solemnisation ceremony, but you can also express your love to each other with a meaningful wedding gift. A good watch he can wear every day, a piece of art to hang in your new home–a thoughtful wedding present signifies your love.

Remember, the most important thing for the bride on your wedding morning is to slow down, enjoy the moment, and take it all in. It’s a special day, and one that you will hold dear for the rest of your life.
