Registering Your Marriage

So you’ve popped the question! After all the nervousness, excitement, tears, and exhilaration, it’s time to make it legal. Before you step into the Registry of Marriages, there are a few things you need to prepare and take note of.

1. YOU’LL FIRST NEED TO APPLY FOR THE NOTICE OF MARRIAGE

You can do so online at the Registry of Marriages website, or at the web kiosks located at ROM. Take note that it has to be applied at least 21 days and up to 3 months before the date of solemnisation. Click here to check on the earliest and latest date to file a Notice of Marriage.

2. BEFORE FILLING, PREPARE THESE:

  • NRIC or Passport of the groom, bride, and 2 witnesses above 21 years of age
  • Solemnisation date, time, and the full address of the venue
  • Consent Form signed by a solemniser
  • Credit card

You can look through ROM’s list of Licensed Solemnisers here. After that you’ll need to print and fill out the Solemniser Consent Form for your chosen Solemniser to sign. There is also a handy checklist provided for by ROM to help you with your registering process. At the end of filing, remember to print a copy of the payment receipt.

3. TAKE OUR FUN AND INSIGHTFUL MARRIAGE PREPARATION QUIZ.

And you’re well on your path to married life! For more information, you can visit ROM’s FAQ page here.
