Mary and Rizam’s Blooming Garden Wedding at Villa Anugrah, Uluwatu

Mary and Rizam wed in a blooming garden at Villa Anugrah in Uluwatu, Bali.

Mary Raymond Barrios, 32, Business Owner of Cafe and Inland Resort, and Mohamad Rizam Arsad, 55, Business Owner/Fitness Trainer of Energia & BFT Kembangan decided to tie the knot back where Rizam proposed–in Bali. Their beautiful garden wedding at Villa Anugrah on 30 June 2023 was filled with flowers and overlooked the stunning Uluwatu cliffside.

How did you two meet?

Mary: Twelve years ago, I was sent to Singapore from the Philippines for an international internship at Grand Hyatt. And one day, my lovely colleague who’s one of the managers at the hotel approached me and asked if I was interested to go on a blind date with his brother, I quickly said yes as he was describing him to be this absolutely incredible man. Although, he didn’t show up on the first date (as he was running his gym) he redeemed himself on the second date at Kudeta (Ce La Vi now) in Marina Bay Sands, where he broke the ice by offering me a chocolate coated banana popsicle.

What do you love most about your partner?

Mary: There’s never a dull moment. We have fun together and I think that’s fundamental in making any relationship work and last.

What made you fall in love with your partner?

Mary: I fell in love with him the first time I laid my eyes on him twelve years ago. He’s kind, patient, thoughtful, respectable, and a wonderful man.

What was the proposal like?

Mary: We were in Bali for his birthday. We checked in at Grand Hyatt Nusa Dua, he got down on one knee in our room, and it was all that I needed, just us with our promises to each other. It was simple and beautiful.

Where did you hold your wedding and whatwas your wedding theme?

We had the most spectacular wedding in Villa Anugrah, Uluwatu. We mainly focused on a modern white and green theme. We were able to seal our vows in this hidden gem in Uluwatu. The concept we focused on was to make it a garden filled with flowers. We were incredibly lucky as this place has everything we wanted–stunning natural views from the cliffside, the big waves, the clear blue sky, and how the sunset would cover up the sky during the ceremony. It looked like a floating garden. It was truly a magical place.

What was your wedding day like?

It was everything we had hoped for; our family and friends flew in from different parts of the world, and it made everything even more meaningful.

What was the most memorable moment of your wedding?

The surprise fireworks and the most beautiful same-day-edit video (that made us all cry)after our first dance.
