requirements are
- washing clothes for 2 person, with occasional washing of qulit (king size), curtains, sofa seats cover, bed sheets.
- save water consumption
- save electricity consumption
- washer cum dryer
- max budget $1,200
how do i calculate the water and electricity consumption?

oh terrible don't use. We are currently using Maytag coz our USA home was using Maytag. My mom bought from Best Denki too. We used it for less than 3yr then rubber spoil and leak. Previously we were using Elba (almost 7yr), Bosch (5yr).
Only good thing about Maytag that my mom use was that it's front load so on top can put things and comes with a holder for you to stack a dryer on top. But personally i hate this stupid Maytag...wash damn slow and doesn't tell you how long it takes to wash. I know that 1 standard cycle will take 2.5hr to wash so coz if i start washing at 10pm (watch news) then it'll only finish at 12.30!
And noise it's very noisy. Imagine my washing machine is on the ground floor, my room on the 2nd floor also can hear.
I think Bosch or Elba was better. anyway they are all now made in China only.

3 persons, 3 separate loads, 1 to 2 times a week. King size quilt cover, fitted sheet, mattress protector are the biggest items.
Bosch appears to be the popular choice, is there a great difference between the Thailand and Germany make? Which is which?

thailand and germany made. its quite a bit of difference because they dont have similar spec but made in different country. so the washing programmes etc are not entirely similar.
But the thai made ones are also fine. its been around for a while.
unless u decide to go crazy and splurge on miele.
not sure if they have the classic range limited edition ones. not the millenium but the classic premier washer. with honeycomb. last i saw was about 2.1k. made in germany with 7kg and honeycomb drum. its like an updated drum version with bigger capacity of the w562

I was at Best Denki Vivo today. Miele is out of budget for us, washer alone is 3K+, I saw the promo $4388 for washer and dryer set. It feels very well made, tough and sturdy, washer is 100kg I think.
I looked at the Bosch 8kg Germany made, the stainless steel surface, pattern is like many many tear drop shapes and with very small holes around the shape, I touched and stroke my fingers over it.....it felt rough...that was weird. It's like the holes were punched from outside in and like a grater, though not sharp enough to cut my fingers. I'd think clothes washing would have friction and cause damage to clothes.
The Thailand made Bosch drum pattern was like any other WM, the usual many round holes, the drums were all smooth. The finish is a little less refine than the Germany make.
There were no Electrolux on display, the sales lady kept pushing Brandt WFK 1018A.
Any thoughts?

Thanks Ridz. Think I wouldnt want to buy that too. I'll discuss with my ID whether we can put the "normal sq sized" washer somewhere else in the kitchen. From the reviews here and from renotalk, seems like BOSCH is really a much better choice. I'll check out Thomson too.

Its not only about popularity. But if you buy non standard measurement items. When it comes to replacement in the future. You will have problems. Cut out the space for standard washer size. At least when problem occurs and needs replacement you can have a wide range of replacement cos most would accomodate a 60 x 60.

hi, looking for front load washer. i'm guessing about 7 or 8kg? budget about $1k, if can cheaper, even better but i guess we are also willing to stretch to $1.2k.
mainly for 2 of us only, biggest items will be king sized quilt cover, bedsheets and mattress protector. you think all that can fit into 8kg washer? will prob be looking to do laundry 1 to 2x a week... will need delicate wash function for my clothes and more heavy duty function for hubs clothes!

Let's just say that I'm still not convinced of the quality of their front load. New to them. Top load. I feel they are very stable. Look at the construction. And washing technology they offer and compare with electrolux, brandt, bosch.
Oh yeah if u get that 10741. At 799 you can go to millenia walk they have matching dryer I think its the 77550. 7kg auto sensing air vented dryer going at 699. Combination is like about 1.5 for a washer n dryer? That's hard to miss but better hurry for both.

agree with what ridz have mention. Ewf 10741 looks like the best bet for the 3 choice you have made. The bosch model in my own personal opinion would be the last choice i would be getting.... Highest consumption of water at a minimum of 60 over litres of water and a long washing time to add to that.

hi ridz, i have been reading threads about washing machine / dryers & know u are a miele fan. for a family of 3 (including a baby), will the 6 kg be sufficient? also, do u know when's the best time to buy the appliances (ie. when are the sale periods) or which shop will give the best discounts for miele? thanks!
As for whether the capacity is enough. 6kg shouldn't be an issue. Its more of the question of how big is your single piece item e.g. blanket. Other clothes r smaller n u can seperate into bathes. But single big piece. Not possible so have to evaluate based on your single biggest piece. Typically a 6 to 7kg washer should meet your needs.
As for miele if u r looking for outright discount. Nope that they don't have. They protect their price really well.
But if u r looking for washing packages and deals. Yes. Its always ongoing. Not sure if they still have the washer and dryer package I think at $4388. Those kinda offer u can find. Don't think there's like a period of good deals. Its more of when the packaged deals will last.

I need some advice. I've a Thomson machine - it's a washer cum dryer - Model TX 898. After using for almost 3 years; I think I've had enough of its noise! I think my neighbors in the same block are using the same model - it's so noisy that literally, at any time of the day - you know that your neighbor is doing his/her laundry! I could even hear it from my balcony when my washing machine is running! Furthermore, I'd only used the dryer function less than 3 times because when I put in half the wet clothing to dry - the clothes came out smelling like burnt stuffs so I gave up and simply do it the conventional way. My questions > is there any other model which is similar in size and quieter in the market!? I wish Miele would have a similar size though! The size of the washer is a major issue as the space to stall the washing machine is limited to such confined space - which was built by the developer!
Currently, I'm using the detergent, Persil but the clothes don't smell as good as other detergent like TOP which my galfriends have recommended although it's not low sud and I didn't try to use it just in case this stupid machine cannot take it! I'd purchased Tide once - it smells good but pretty expensive here as compared when I used to purchase it in the U.S. Any advice - Thanks!

Both are about the same in terms of washing technology and features. Just that the 10741 has a bigger washing capacity of 7 while the other is only 6.5. Quite a bit of difference in drum size seriously. And the other difference of course being the spin speed. 10741 has spin speed of 1000rpm. Which is better.
Opt for the 10741. Its a better deal.
