Hi
My brother just had his wedding 2 weeks ago and was a truly bad experience for my family.
For all brides-to-be, please note these feedback as you prepare for your wedding.
I was the main coordinator for the event and at about 8pm, the captain asked me which entrance the bride and groom will be coming in. I was shocked as my brother was previously briefed by the Coordinator that the march-in will be from the middle entrance (those who had seen the ballroom will know what i mean). This captain suggested them coming in from the back entrance so that the guests seated at the back tables will be able to see the bride and groom. I told the captain that if this is the case then the red carpet should not start from the middle of the ballroom (it should be from the entrance!) and they should check all these details beforehand. Anyway, I didn't want to argue further and left it as how we planned.
Next was the table number. We did not realised that 2 table numbers were swopped (different in our copy of floorplan given by the Coordinator) and a table of relatives ended up seating in the corner of the ballroom. Coordinated many weddings in the past, I never once had to check on this as it is BASIC standard for any restaurants/hotels.
The nightmare came when the video montage was played (we had NO hiccups when we did a trial play together with the captain on their DVD player before dinner commenced). The screen went blank for 4secs and for at least 5 times! Then came the 2nd video screening (the morning events professionally done by our videographer) just before the 2nd march-in - disaster as well! The captain brushed it off at the end of the dinner and blamed on the compatibility of the projector.
During the food tasting in the restaurant, we gave thumbs up. However, the quality of food served during the dinner was poor. We had guests complaining food was salty. In addition, we all felt being rushed through the courses and the team of banquet servers had obviously no experience. (Seemed like we were having dinner in a typical neighbourhood chinese restaurant)
What saved the night was our emcee who managed to sent laughter throughout the dinner.
