The Fullerton Hotel Singapore

Hi,
Just wondering if anyone could give some advise on the stairs in fullerton hotel? I have paid a deposit for the wedding banquet. Now, I am wondering if I made the right choice because of the stairs.

Hi gal

what about the stairs do you have concerns about?

I think so far all past fullerton brides have gone through it without a hitch. Just be confident, look forward and walk naturally. Get your FH to be your balance

agree with matka. i had my wedding at fullterton last may. no regrets at all

the stairs makes the entrance really grand. just take your time and walk down gracefully. if u r really worried, just go down earlier to practice walking with your gown.

u'll love it!

Thanks matka and poox for the encourgement. One of my friend was telling me that the stairs is the only entrance to the ballroom so all guests will have to walk up and down the stairs. Am I right?

Is it also true that there is no dry ice effect? So, will the first march in be not grand enough? Any of you have other services like live entertainment, extra venue decoration?

Hi CaratSoup

Can send me your pics? I'll be viewing their ballroom next Tues. [email protected]

To the past Fullerton brides, usually what are the perks that you have managed to get out of them?

The cost per table is quite exp and I wonder how much will it turn out at the end of the table with all the beer and wine....and most importantly, is it worth the high expenses?

Hi Gal

No worries! Yes, the only entrance to the ballroom is the staircase. So in that sense, it doesn't seem particularly handicap friendly. You might want to check it out with the hotel though. They may have alternative routes (eg: by the back, etc).

I don't know about dry ice/smoke effects. I didn't use it and was quite happy not to. I don't think it makes it any less grand not to have it. But if you really would like one, i think some event management companies out there will be able to rent you one
happy.gif

Sounds like my wedding was pretty much no-frills! We made do with the decor that the hotel provided and had no entertainment aside from the videos we showed. For entertainment, you could consider a harpist or a cellist or even a string quartet. The hotel might have contacts for them.

Unfortunately the ballroom/stage is not big enough to fit the piano. Otherwise that'd be quite nice. The other option is to hire an a capella group.

Hi Daphne

I guess most importantly, we shld all spend what we can. Where it's a nice-to-have but can't afford, we make do. I think most of the Fullerton brides have been really happy with their weddings. For me, my hubby and myself were happy. So were our families and our guests (well, they looked really happy when they left). So for the joyous occasion, i'd say the money was well-spent.

Hi,

I'll be going down for my final negotiations this sat and would appreciate any advice from any of you who have had experience with them ^_^

Comments from friends so far:
Pro - Great ambience!
Con - Watch those stairs down the ballroom.. you might just begin your march-in with a fall... ;p

Dear FH brides and brides-to-be:

Hope everything's going fine for all you gals here!

As for newbies, I've compiled a wedding info file from all the advice and experience posted in this thread and would be glad to share. Do email me at [email protected] and i'd send the file to you.

As for negotiations, rest assured that they won't give more than what's stated in the package. This means there's fairness and you don't have to waste efforts in convincing them you deserve more perks. You won't have to worry that others get more than you either! And they uphold their 6-star reputation too... If all couples go to them to ask for better perks, and complain abt others getting better perks than themselves, they'd have a hard time appeasing everyone.. Among the 6 star hotels, i'm sure FH has the most comprehensive package.

So rest assured and join us as FH brides!

Hehe...
Cheers!!!

Hi all,

Wow, have been reading through some of the archives and realised that quite a few of us will be having our AD in mid '06. I'm doing mine in May 06 ^_^

From most of your feedback, it does seem that FH is indeed a dream wedding place with great service and ambience... only downside is the food i suppose... =(

I'm currently at a dilemma btw Conrad and FH. Will be meeting both to do negos soon... Will keep you guys posted ^_^

Hi,

Yam Hwee: Are you still around? Read about your dreamy blue wedding... May I know which florist you worked with? Or anyone who's seen it... can tell more? Thanks
happy.gif

If i would like to do more with the ballroom deco, does anyone know if i can just work with the florist? Or do i need to hire wedding co-ordinators and stuff?

blue mist: the stairs are not that scary after all, though i was apprehensive about it too. had no problems walking down in my WG with a long train and EG too! i think fullerton is really fantastic, after comparing with other hotels. service is excellent, the coordination of the manager with the technical staff is also perfect (no hitches like wrong music/poor sound quality/video projection not working well). everything just feels dreamy and perfect on the wedding day!!

hey gals,

i jus had my wedding dinner at fullerton abt 2 weeks back! Was q apprehensive abt the stairs too! But no worries! the trick is to walk slowly! the banquet manager will also advise that your hubby walk 1 step ahead of u so that he can catch u shd (touch wood!) u miss ur step! But, if ur gown length is rite, even a big gown (which i had) will be fine!! i din have any problems with both walk-ins even tho my WG was big and EG had a train!

Hi guys,

Thanks for the confidence booster
happy.gif
I went down to view the ballroom over the weekend and yes, the stairs are really not that bad. It's fully carpeted so no worries about slipping
wink.gif

I'm really quite keen on finalising with FH cos quite impressed with the grandeur and yes, Delia is really very nice
happy.gif
One question though.. the ballroom is rather longish... i'm afraid that my guests will feel kinda left out when placed at the ends. Delia mentioned that live feed should solve the problem. Any comments?

Haha i know i seem to be bringing up lots of concerns but it's actually becos I simply can't resist the lure of FH
biggrin.gif
Just trying to cover all grounds before I make my final decision

Hi ladies,
Can i please ask those who had dinner at fullerton - anyone added suckling pig to their dishes? What is the additional cost? Any clue?

hi Blue mist

It's true abt the oval-ish ballroom. We had a live feed for it too for the benefit of the guests at the sides. If you're engaging a videographer, I think that can be easily settled.

How abt this as a deal-breaker...? Think about the double-storey Loft Suite for 2 nights that you'll get.... hehehe

Titania, Raffles was definitely an option for me because i loved its colonial look. Problem is, it couldn't accommodate the number of tables I had. Raffles is great if you're planning to do a partial outdoor do. Not sure abt the logistics involved. But i think Fullerton is nicely self-contained.

Hi,

matka: yeah... the loft suite is indeed a draw. that plus the bathrobes embroidered with our names...
biggrin.gif

Btw, anyone knows about the food quality from the cheapest menu? Heard that to get decent food, you need to upgrade... is that true?

Ex-fullerton brides,
Need comments on the Spinach Toufu. I intend to swap the spinach toufu to just bailing mushroom with spinach in Truffle Jus, issit nice?

Also amongst the fish dishes, find the Braised Grouper fillet special and easier to eat, anyone chose that dish before? Is it very little?

chamonique

Hi Sharlene,

I agree with Winter. The spinach tofu is nice and it is not commonly served at the wedding banquet. A lot of my friends liked the spinach tofu and the mango pudding.

winterhakone

yea..my vote goes 2 the mango pudding also.....initially i wanted 2 do away wif it...lucky didnt....this is the 1st time...i heard pple asking 4 more dessert.....

wedding999..sorry...unable 2 help...we didnt hv the bathrobes during our time...sobsob

sharlene

Wedding999,
I din't know there are bathrobes with our name to it, never heard the coordinator mention?

Winterhakone/Charmonique
I dun like Toufu, thus when I heard from the coordinator its actually a toufu, I requested to change just to spinach. Coz I opt for braised grouper fillet with homemade toufu thus worried that the spinach toufu will replicate and too many toufu. So the spinach toufu is green color toufu?

I also changed the dessert into red bean paste with glutious ball in black sesame.....

piyoling

New Member
Wedding9999, the bathrobes are a gift for the couple, thus there is no charge. However, i didn't recall that our names will be embroidered on them. This is written in the contract as part of the package.
It's best u check ur contract or check with ur coordinator.

sharlene

Winterhakone,
Just wonder does their mando pudding taste similar with what we normally had outside in other restuarants? The red bean paste is just normal only issit?

Pai say, another question, the Spinach toufu issit purely toufu only? Coz I hate toufu, at least if there are vege with the toufu seperately still ok....

Matka,
Same sentiments as u, the bathrobe sound so nice
happy.gif

winterhakone

sharlene....it doesnt taste really the same cos they use alot of real mangoes wif fruits ard it...not so milky kinda of taste....yea normal red bean paste.....

honestly..i m some1 who dun like eat veg let alone tofu....but after our food tasting...i fell in love wif the dish....shar...keep it, u wont regret....anyway..u try @ food tasting 1st....really dun like then change....

winterhakone

New Member
sharlene....after food tasting..u informed either the chef n let the co-ordinator take note as well............as usual after all yr course is served during the food tasting...the chef will run thro yr comments list....so u might let him know..u wanna change the dish 2 another one n he can also advise u on wat other dishes 2 subsitutie wif

Wow, food advice galore
talker.gif
yeah, i'm definitely going with the spinach tofu and mango pudding then!
happy.gif

Sharlene, spinach tofu actually comes in small rectangular pieces consisting of a layer of tofu at the bottom, with a layer of minced spinach on top. This is then deep fried and served topped with a sauce. You can usually only get this dish at very authentic chinese restaurents. It is my fav dish! Yummy!
biggrin.gif

May i know if you guys took the lowest priced dinner or the mid-priced one?

chamonique

During my food tasting, I actually requested for soursop pudding. However my family didnt like it. All of them said it tasted too sour and dried and my SIL said last dish should be Tian Tian Mi Mi and not sour. Hence I changed to mango pudding and no regret about it as my guests liked the dessert. However I did ask the chef to add more syrup as I thought the mango pudding might be dried like the soursop pudding.

sharlene

Gals,
Thanks for ur valuable feedbacks. I had informed the coordinator to switch back to spinach Toufu and mango pudding to try first during food tasting. If really dun like then switch to previous choice
