Rude shock!

Hi all, recently I witnessed a couple quarreling in a restaurant.
The lady was cussing vulgarities at the man and showed him
the middle finger. The guy retaliated a little (cursed) but the lady seems out of control. I believe the other patrons were as shocked as myself.

This led me to think of the recent videos of a lady humiliating (beating & scolding) the bf in public which were secretly filmed and uploaded onto YouTube. I mean which of the guys here will tolerate such verbal abuse from your gf/wife? The man looks like he was tolerating from the gf/wife and looks 'patient' enough.

Maybe anger management courses will benefit the lady? I have friends who claimed to be like that but did not witness it. How can there be love when there's no respect? It's just like guys who abuse their partners physically. They have violent tendencies and most people would advise their partners to leave.

What would you do if you are in their shoes and it happens that you love him/her very much? I would leave him but for matters of the heart, it's very hard to say unless you are in the situation. Your views please.

My mum is pretty much like this. Instant reaction regardless where she was. And I used to react to them badly myself. Now, I just endure them no matter how frustrated I'm. But for life partner, no way. No matter how much it hurts, I have the choice with my life. I will not allow my life to be dominated by another woman this way.

I screamed at my husband yesterday .. it was fine when we were on the way home. he said he wanted to send the car for repair this morning so I told him that I will clear the car of the kids' toys when we get home.

we got home. i got off the car, opened the gates, he drove the car in and i closed the gates. i took one kid out from the car and he took one - grabbed his bag and as he passed me i gave him my house keys. he went in with the kids and i continued separating our belongings and junk from the car. when i was done, i realised that he left the kids' bags in the car - i had to carry three plastic bags, my own bag and two school bags .. i only have two hands.

when i got to the door, he had left the front door wide open - we don't leave doors and windows open cos insects or the neighbour's cat will come in and the children will start freaking out. at the same time, i saw him nicely coming down from the second floor - having changed his clothes. he saw me with the bags, also don't want to help .. he took one look at me and then went to sit on the sofa .. so in this case, my emotions got the better of me and i screamed at him la.

it is the exactly of those types that some of these tigress want to hitch up with.... but i don't know that the lambs are thinking though..

yes, after the widespread humiliation in that particular video clip, the next best thing is always to walk away from the public eye before getting punched or kicked in the balls, unless they're wearing a metal plate underneath their panties.

Cuclainne, how did your hubby react then? If I were you, I would also scream at him. I find that sometimes men are not as sensitive and this drive me nuts at times. It's quite common sense to lend a helping hand there and then. Sigh.

because sometimes, guys are lost in their thoughts at that very moment..... other times, prob guys are pissed off with the other half or with someone else.

miyako,

i would like to know...

1) which restaurant was it?
2) what food were they eating?
3) what beverage were they having?

must investigate exactly what made them this quarrelsome... after that i would like to find out why nobody stopped them...

miyako, i screamed at him for all of two-three seconds .. in our home. after that i got no time to be angry already cos got one zillion things to do - but he did help with making dinner last night .. and washed the dishes.

For me, most of the time that we raised our voice, it end up with the other party voicing out that the tone is hurtful and unnecessarily aggressive. Then, normally, its followed up silence or me calming her down.

Someone needs to back of and stop the emotions from escalating further.

Powder, good one! haha

hi doll,

its all part of the build up. When unchecked, it could easily escalate to shouting or fighting. Naturally, we would only see issues with our partners and completely blind to our bad behavior at the moment of strong emotions. That's why one needs to back off and minimize triggering more emotions.

For sure I can understand what's shouting. I did so numerous times in the past. All the stares from the public. Probably just like the Miyako San's reaction.

miyako san,

haha... i know i might sound rude but don't you think that it's like a real indication, considering that chap's reaction - and for allowing the gf to whack his little brother continuously in public. wa lau, don't know that the heck he was thinking man.

i ever saw a lady walking into a restuarant and give her bf a tight slap (the bf was chatting with 2 other female friends). The bf shouted: crazy woman and continue his talks with the other two ladies but there's tears in his eyes.

I am a pretty loud person (by default). My hubby commented my speaking volume is almost like shouting. So, in public, no way can i raise my voice as he hates it with a passion. No public nuisance. At home, he can be my puppy dog, he takes no offence with my loud voice. But i have to tone it down in public. Sometimes its frustrating cos it's noisy outside thus i tend to speak abit louder, and that's it... he will ignore me and just walk faster. The only way out is to be tactful and be respectful, of course self-control..

But no, no public display of anger. Affection, yes.

Why does one always think a guy will stay in a difficult relationship when the gal is chio? We have emotional side as well.

James, hehehe... Funny leh! It doesn't matter where, it can also be done behind closed doors. But does it make both parties feel better?

Milo, you mean you do engage in a shouting match with your wife in public? That must have invited alot of stares.

Vios, I thought you wrote sala. Lol! I'm also unsure what kind of guy is willing to endure such public humiliation. It's really the ultimate! What if 'it' cannot work due to persistent beating? The lady has only herself to blame. Or maybe he's a 'kept' man?

reminds me of mum who used is one of those who somehow have to talk louder when using the mobile phone... maybe back in those days, the volume was very low... but nowadays if u're on ear-piece... it can burst your drums!

hahahahah my mom does that too .. if she talks on the phone, everyone nearby can probably hear what she's talking about .. :D

Miyako, it was when I was younger and shouting sessions was with my mum. This same man that everyone is commenting how filial and patient with his mum now is the same one that cursed and shouted at her years back. And in some ways, she is even more unreasonable now with her failing health. Actually, I was the only one that was supporting her emotionally all the way, helping her solve all her problems all these years. I never did give up on her. But, I used to fight her and not understanding why she is like this. I just learnt how to be patient and set my own expectations about her right.

The funny thing is I talk different with my wife. She is my soft spot. All my friends noticed how my decibels seem to decrease when speaking to her. My gentleness to her is just natural.

I used to be the type who could totally lose it in public. With the right partner, I think I have improved by leaps and bounds!

Somehow with the right partner, I don't even get angry often. In the past no matter who I date, I would get angry at least once in a week over trivial matters. With my then bf and now hubby, I think I only get angry once in a month or once in two months and my anger usually goes away on the day itself without bearing grudges. How I've changed gradually..I really don't know but I guess it's because I've found someone really suitable for me. He doesn't do things that irk me that much somehow and he has his way to calm me down or turn my anger into laughter in no time.

Thanks Powder, taken note of your interesting comment. Should symptoms persist, it's always good to check with the doctor.
