haha this hotel is quite sticky on negotiating for any stuff...

but anyway, does anyone remember if they provide and allow rose petals to be thrown during the march in?

No real rose petals to be thrown since they can cause staining on the carpet. They do provide real rose petals round the candles if you choose the tranquility theme. You can use those imitation ones from Ikea and they look almost the real deal! Used that for mine...

Hi Jamie

I don't think you should worry about the transportation issue. If they are coming for the wedding, they will manage it. In fact, I remembered some of my guests actually came earlier for the dinner since they had allocated some "get lost" time. The result is a boon as it means that the event got off on-time.

Oh btw, they don't do bus shuttle. Look at it another way, you will need at least 5 buses for 200 people (not practical to do it with one bus to-and-fro).

Thx Simon. So Regent does not allow real rose petals to be thrown? That's very strict i feel...

how much does imitation cost? altho i really prefer real ones...

Sorry ah, have not been really following.

Hi Coludz, the imitation ones cost about $3+ per box I think. To have it thrown I don't think you need a lot, maybe half a box per table along the aisle.

Not surprised that they are strict. You wouldn't want to end up having to pay for the stained carpets because you were not told before hand.

Hi im here here... REgent seems to have a lot of hidden cost to my surprise.

Referring to some of the threads above, does any have a good contact for musician? My hubby and i intend to have a small party after the dinner therefore looking for reasonable singer and musicians. any recommendation?

the internet posted 2007 price which is so much lower than their 2008 price. Any ideas whether can we negotiate with them to use the 2007 price?

Hello, any recommendation of the wedding planner since many of you have experience with Regent and I am planning to have wedding lunch. What's the good time to start for lunch?

My coordinator is Denise. I just had my wedding lunch in May this year. I actually stated in the invitation card that we will start the lunch at 12.45pm. However, the guests were late and I was still preparing also. Hence, the lunch actually started at 1.30pm instead.

Hi Chris,

Weddings are just going to get more and more expensive and i do not think any hotel, not just Regent, will allow negotiation on their published prices.

At best, you can push for other things like more carpark coupons, more wine, room nights etc, provided yours is a big reception.

Hi Sherry,

I was not aware of any hidden cost. Had my wedding recently in June and it was great so no worries there.

I am not sure about the new pricing but the 2007 package was value for money if you ask me because they provided jazz band, complimentary photomontage (very well done by the way), saxophonist prior to ballroom opening, etc etc etc...so all in all, nothing to complain.

Plus the cocktail reception area is fantastic because your guests get to sit down, especially older folks or people who come early unlike other places where you need to stand if you come early...my guests really liked the reception area

Hi EsGirl,

All my pics are of people and cannot see the background scenery. Rest assured that it is good and you can have a choice of several different themes...Mine was Classic Jazz so it was white-based.

You should really go down personally to see the place and the setup to get a better feel...trust me

Hi, I would like to have my wedding dinner held nxt yr at regent on a weekday. But I only have 20 tables to confirm which I can't meet the min (25) for the royal ballroom. Anyone here has got similar case like mine and was granted to use the royal ballroom?

I am planning to have my AD on Oct 08 next year and it happen that my AD falls on 'auspicious' date. Called up so many hotels and seems that most of the popular ones are taken already.

Regent is by far, the only one still available for my date. so i arranged to meet up with one of the coordinators at Regent. she is very fast and prompt with replies. She brought me and my fh to view the ballroom (from the side) as there was a wedding going on. i would say although the ballroom is not as grand as other hotels (the ceiling is quite low and there were 2 pillars) however, the overall feel is still acceptable. She showed us the pics of the 6 different themes. Quite like the Chinos theme as I find the rest too plain with only candles (which somewat makes the ballroom looks bare).

She mentioned that the wedding show on 7th Oct they will showcase all their 6 different wedding themes. There is actually a promotion going on now if you sign with them -$30 off per table for weekday + sunday package, except Sat. Their min table for weekend (sat/sun) is 35, but auspicious dates min is 40 tables! Tried to nego with her if can lower the min requirement, she said have to check with the mgt first.

We are still considering cos not sure if able to hit 40 tables. In the meanwhile still searching for other venues.

Hi gerbera_gal

Only acceptable?! It is more than outrageous. Why the need for a high ceiling when lower ceiling gives you a more cosy and intimate feel....not as if buying a house..:p

Anyway, I think you can get by with 37 tables. (Don't forget the standby ones.) If it's 20+, better seek another venue.

Simon Templar:

I went to do a site-visit today at regent, and the wedd planner told me that it would be sparse looking like wat you said too. But personally felt that it should look all right with thte shortage of 5 tables. C how it goes, prob plan the table layout again when the wedd date is nearer cos guests list might just increase.

Hi,

Does anyone here is having Joanne as your coordinator? How's your experience with her?

So far, my experience with her is not very good. She's not responsive to emails, phone calls. Even if I managed to get her on her mobile phone, she always forgets what is discussed & forgets to deliever what she promised.

The most fustrating part is the things she promised to give to us before we signed the contract, are all not fulfilled. She even forgets she ever promised us on those items.

For example: I told her I need her to give me a call whenever there is any different dinner on different themes, so that I can go down personally, to view the real settings. But she never call, no matter how many times I followed up with her.

As for the wine part, she promised to give us free wine tasting during the food tasting session. But in the end, she actually charged us for the wine.

Joanne also promised to "close one eye" on the hard liquor part. I told her I'll try to bring duty-paid hard liquor, maybe around 2 duty-paid & 2 duty-free. The 2 duty-free is for backup, as we predict not much consumption on hard liquor, but it will be embarassed if we do not have enough to serve.

Joanne forgot what she promised & insisted that she will not serve the duty-free, even if we finish all out duty-paid hard liquor.

I understand there are some items were agreed, not offically stated on the contract, but I disagreed with her style of agreeing to all terms when trying to get couples to sign & revoking all agreements made later.

Anyway, does anyone here has any recommendation of other good coordinators? How can I go about changing coordinator? Who & where should I be submitting my request to?

Hi Nic,
So sorry to read of your challenges with Joanne. You may want to bring the matter to the attention of the Catering Manager & expressed your disappointment as your AD is just next month.
I'm in contact with Michaela & Denise from Regent. In actual fact, I hv not met them but hv fixed an appointment on 27th Oct for the package discussion. I hope I will not be in similar situation like you.
Please could you email me the photos of Regent's theme at [email protected]
When exactly is your AD next month? Well good luck.

Hi Alicia. My wedding date is on 21 Nov. I've alrdy booked with Regent. Love their themes n their package is indeed attractive compared to others. My coordinator is Sunil. Regent is nice. I went to the wedding show & I fell in love with the themes straightaway. Totally swept off ;)

Nicole, was wondering, why dnt u write a formal complaint letter & addressed to the GM of Regent. Stamp "Private & Confidential" outside the envelope & the letter is sure to reach the GM's attn. Trust me. Hehe. My opinion is I tink u shd voice out & let the relevant parties be aware of the working attitude & "efficiency" of Joanne cos I tink it's very bad of her. So unprofessional. Here u r, trying to celebrate yr joyous occasion & there she is, damping yr mood. Arrrrgghhh. Irritating isnt it. Consider my suggestion. Mayb u can write after yr wedding dinner. But if I were u, I will write b4 so may they might be apologetic & change some1 better to be in charge of yr coming dinner. Hehe. Btw, can u email me the pics of the theme? Thanks sweetie.

Thanks heaps.

Hi Alicia, fast response man! Haha. Here goes..free flow of beer, corkage waiver of wine & hard liquor, 1 nite bridal suite stay, 1 nite anni stay, complimentary 1 btl of wine per table, 45 mins music jazz ensemble & 2 musicians on stage etc. Mine is on a Friday so per table is $858 & if u pay by DBS/POSB card, u get $30 off per table. I have had made alot of enquiries ard 4 venues, packages & perks. I'm a very picky person actually. There4 trust me, if I took Regent, Regent must be damn good & value for $$$. Wahaha

Hi Karen..you're even faster in your reply..hehe. Wow! I must say that you have good perks but how many tables do you have? Mine will be only about 12 tables, I doubt if they are able to provide perks like yours. Did you book your package during the wedding show? If you did, that couls be the possibility of real attractive perks...

I got 25 tables & yes, I booked during the wedding show so that maybe explains the fantastic perks I got. But I do think they still have the package now. My wedding date was supposed to be a Sat but I've got not enuf tables so my coordinator asked me to change to a weekday so I chose 21st Nov which is a Fri (half wkday half wkend) & actually, for fridays, they only take in min 30 tables but my coordinator says he is willing to close one eye for me. Haha. As for yours which is 12 tables, mayb u wld like to enquire with them, tink they have a smaller ballroom called "Tanglin Ballroom". Ive seen tis ballroom too. Not too bad.

alicia_wee

Karen, I must say you are lucky! Which theme did u choose btw? Since I have only 12 tables, I will have to use the Nassim Room (min10, max14). Which ballroom will your event be cos I know that Tanglin Ballroom can take up to min16, max20. Good for you that you have your wedding venue settled - i guess that is 1 of the biggest decision headaches beside the BS. Well, I have shortlisted 4 other places inclusive of Regent & hopefully I can get this over & done with pretty soon. So how is your prep coming along?

ceo38

New Member
Well I myself also tink that I m lucky. U dnt know ah, days b4 I chose my venue, I was so vexed ovr choosing the venues until I told my fren tat I tink I'm gtg e Pre-Wedding Blues. I even dreamt of venues when I sleep u know. Was really happy when I found Regent & decided on it. I couldnt help smiling for that few days. My peers tot I gone gila alrdy. Wahaha. I will be holding in the Royal Pavillion Ballroom lor. I didnt know abt the Nassim Ballroom cos I didnt c it tat day @ the show. Only saw Tanglin ballroom & royal pavillion. What other 4 places U have shortlisted anyway? As for BS, which 1 u like? I had headache on it 2 but more or less, I am settling for Ritz Couture. Adore the gowns there. Heard the reviews abt Ritz is good too.

Hi Nec: Karen mentioned that her coordinator was Sunil in 1 of her threads. I'm not sure who my coordinator will be as I will only be meeting with Michaela Kranich next week & her position is a Events Sales Exec. Karen & I are both asking Nic from this forum to email us the theme pics but hv yet to receive them.

Nic-> please email us the theme pics.

Many thanks.
