am planning to file for divorce as hb have another person in his life now and told us to move on. i have been crying and well i know its time to move on since i cannot change anything. i have some questions i hope some of you can share some insight

1. i am not a local and he sponsor me. i am a grad myself but was a housewife. we have a daughter. will i be kicked out of singapore. i want to stay here and raise her, well at least try since it will be hard by myself but i want to give myself a chance n ah girl is now in primary 2.

2. previously after our marriage, the inlaw gave us money which was a gift of love from them and we bought a property with it. then recently he told me that is loan.. the way i look at it, i might not even be able to get a roof after he say have to pay the mom etc etc and deduct everything.

sigh...

eneysaa, can u pm me, have a friend who had the same condition for the PR matters, maybe can advise.

for number 2) If the money is given as gift of love for marriage, cannot take as a loan. If u divorce him, if he needs to repay loan, but he still have to give u and the kids maintainence. Pm me, i can advice u more.

I am same like you, that my HB sponsored my PR. But for my case, i am holding a job here and i completed my poly diploma here as well. I called up immigration to check, the officer advice that I still can carry on with my PR even divorce until the next re-entry permit is due for renewal. Upon renewal, they will access the situation again, whether to let you renew as usual or they might need you to have the prove of employment. This is what I had gathered but you might want to double confirm with lawyer.

thank you xiao li. you mean one can just call immigration to check instead of going down. am really tied with the kids as i have no help or family here.

margaret ~ well.. he can anytime ask the mother to court and say she loan us but years back, she never and he never say it was a loan..

eneysaa, there is a law on this regarding parent giving gifts for marriage. After certain years, it will not be consider as loan. My lawyer ever mention to me.
