hi ladies,

wanna share my view about PJ...

i will be having my wedding dinner cum solenmization with PJ next yr. me too feel impress with the ambience. i feel that it will b a place where $$ will be well spent and pauline is very patient and gives lots and lots of idea to make the wedding interesting. she is willing to negiotate. As for food tasting, pauline mentioned that we will have a chance to speak to the chief and give our feedback so as to serve us better on the AD.

pchosg: PJ does offer marriott hotel stay, it's new in her list, u can check with Pauline.

but.... for the waiter/waitress ratio is not 1 to 1 table. the ratio is 1 to around 2-3 table

hi, anyone holding a weekday wedding dinner banquet at PJ? Please advise if there is any complimentary for beer and/or wine? Thanks!

Hi,

Actually PJ offer food tasting for 6paxs, anyone req for 10pax? And on top of the package, did any1 request for more stuffs?
Care to share cos i m going to confirm the package with Pauline in the next 2 days

Hi Vonn
Pauline gave us food tasting for 6dishes for 6pax also. The reason i think 6pax is for yourself + FH + your parents + your in-laws. We din bargain for more though.

Hi Greta,

When is yr wedding? Actually i m looking at the max of 20-22 tables,so i tot can bargain for more stuffs.
BTW,have u tried the food? How was it?

Hi gals,

Actually, I feel that the banquet food at Peony Jade is better than the food from their ala carte menu and way better than the food from their buffet menu. Even my step father who is very particular about food was praising most of the dishes that we chose for our wedding banquet.

Hi vonn,

I think there is no harm asking for whatever items you require but do be prepared that they may come with a price. For instance, we topped up our package so that we would have a suckling pig first dish.

Hi Artemis,

What a relief to read your comments on the food quality at PJ! My fiance and I signed up with PJ without really tasting the food or even do a thorough food quality check with others, so your comments are much appreciated!

May I please inquire which package did u take and how much was the top up for whole suckling pig? We don't want Shark's Fin soup (environmental reasons), and so need suckling pig to make up for the loss of "grandeur", IYKWIM.

Thanks in advance for sharing!

Hi mamoette,

You're welcome. My FH and I went to taste the buffet food before deciding on the place. We thought the buffet food was only so-so. But for that price it is still value. And even the buffet sharksfin was delicious but I guess being environmentally friendly that won't be relevant to you.

Anyway, I go out with the gals from the SingaporeBrides forum (Oct 2005 Brides) and a few of them told me that they have tasted the banquet food there and it was delicious. So we already had a certain expectation for the food quality when we went for our food tasting. I'm happy to say that the food met our expectations and for some dishes exceeded it.

I chose the middle range package (I think it's called the Romance Package). As for how much I topped up, I think it would be different for you as you would be giving up your sharksfin. Why don't you try discussing with Pauline? I would think your top up price would be less than mine.

My wedding is in 4 weeks time. Will try to update you gals after the event and my honeymoon.

Hi Vonn,
My AD is 11/3/06. 22tables would mean that you will have to utilise 2 tables in the VIP rooms. I find this odd loh cos there is some distance between the VIP room and common dinning area. Mayb u can consider putting 11pax per table instead? As wat Artemis said, change of dishes may need to topup $$ or scale down $$. I think the norm is topup bah? When is your AD?

Hi Mamoette,
Welcome to the club!

Hi Artemis,

Thanks again for sharing. Yah, sharksfin is really out of the question for us. We did discuss about the swop with Lydia (Pauline was on vacation), and she said she'll advise on the price change, but so far, no sound yet. Maybe in the next few days...

Wow, the next 4 week must be pretty exciting. Hey, all the best! May your big day turn out perfect and beautiful!

Will probably be very busy over the next few weeks. Still haven't planned my wedding music, car decoration and flowers for the banquet decorations.

You gals still have a very long time to plan. Enjoy yourselves!

Looking forward to hear about how your wedding goes...

Hi Gals,

check with u all that the contract PJ sent, does it have the cancellation column?
There will be charges for cancellation window if less then 120day.

Hi all, jus had my rom ytd at PJ. Had 5 tables at PJ, intially only 4, so glad that Pauline manage to help us make it a smooth process n the staff are really polite n alert.

The guests are full of praises esp a few of the dishes. So maybe I will share my personal favourites. The roasted chicken with sesame sauce, jingdu pork ribs, scallops with brocolli are really delicious and the portion is really big! Really worth dining at the plc. The sharks find also nice , almost got 15 bowls worth of soup in one big bowl

Hi all... me too had rom at Peony Jade recently.. as same suelynn..

just to share. my guests were also full of praises... the waitresses and restaurant manager were attentive, and very professional.

The food came in large portions and my guests commented that the dishes were all delicious. Prawns were big and fresh, delicious crispy chicken, and the yummy mango dessert with pomelo sacs...

i dint really get to eat much that day cos was too happy and keep entertaining my guests.. he he... will find one day to dine there again....

even my photographer said its a good choice to choose Peony-Jade cos the decor is very unique.... moreover provided free rom solemnisation table set up with nice table flower pieces

so to those who considering using this restaurant for rom or AD... contact Pauline... she's very open to ideas and can negotiate.... he he... all the best to all

Greta> I got the prawn salad. My guest all love it except my mil. She dunno hw to eat mayo kekkeke. I love the chicken n Jingdu pork ribs the most!

Hi Beverly & Suelynn
Thanks for the feedback.

Hi Artemis
Yr AD very near liao...hope u b a mei mei bride!

Hi Beverly & Suelynn,
I am thinking of holding my ROM at PJ too. However, Pauline has only replied with information on banquet packages. Nice to hear that you enjoyed your ROM! Are the prices the same for AD banquet prices?

Hi Magdalene

Maybe you can send Pauline an email requesting for more information on rom packages. Think the rom packages start from 30 nett per person.

I took up a 30 nett person 8 course menu. they have big tables, and can accommodate up to 13 persons per table. for me, i took up only 2 tables, total 26 guests.

Free rom solemnisation table set up provided, eg. long table, five chairs decorated with sash, nice flower table piece, ring pillow for use, pen set.

The food portion are big, and dishes are delicious. He he. Maybe can send Pauline an email to request for info, can also meet up with her to discuss your needs and view the place. She is easy to talk to. Good about the place is, modern chinese decor, can take up alot of guests, and food is nice. Good place to take photos too.. he he

Good choice for rom.

Hi Magdelene, I tink the menu may have change from the one I Freya have. I took up the $35 nett per person package. As there were suddenly a few extra ppl and hubby din wan ppl to squeeze so we had 5 tables n ard 45 guests. We had 4 or 5 bottles of wine as well....its $25 nett per bot. The prices for rom luncheon and AD is very different and so are the items.PJ even provide wedding favours for my guests.

hi Beverly & Suelynn,

i'm also thinking of holding my ROM at PJ. For the food, did pauline come up with a special set for u or did u order frm the ala carta menu or buffet?

zen> its a standard package, there is $30 nett , $35 nett n $40 nett. We changed the $35 nett menu from cuttlefish to jingdu pork ribs.We changed the waterchestnut dessert to mango sago n red bean soup, cos some guests are older folks.

Hi zen: like what suelynn mention, there is a standand 30, 35, 40 nett menu. the 30 nett per person menu is good enough already, with shark fins soup, prawns, chix, noodles, dessert.. etc. 8 course menu. but not sure if there is any difference now.

heard from pauline some couple have did something special before. like ala carte menu, serving individual portion to guests, instead of th0se set menu, scooping shark fins and a whole plate of chix all that. those individual portion is like, serving a plate of cod fish per guest,.. you can select ala carte dish from the menu, but will be quite ex this way.

They also have ala carte lunch buffet for your info. Think the list of food is updated on the PJ website. www.peony-jade.com

do check out.. he he

hi gals,
i send amial to pauline but she is not willing to commit for Mar06. only can ask her again during Jan... haiz..
do u know whether they do buffet style? cos my FH think tat like chinese dinner liao tat.. 8 course meal

hi gals,

how do you find pauline?

does anyone faces any frustration or has any miscommunication with her leading to change of plan for your wedding?

anyone doing wedding lunch on a sat at peony jade or wedding lunch?

how's the food like?

how long does it takes for the whole ceremony?

will there be any cocktail reception for the rom package?

thanks

Hi,

I am putting PJ as my first choice but will someone be able to share with me on the details of the quotation?
Also, what are the things to take note before entering into a contract?
After reading so many threads on bridal shops , restaurants etc, I am soooo worried abt the potential of "extortion-like" hidden cost.
My email address: [email protected]

Thanks.

Hi hopeful,

This week has been a totally frustrating week (I am having my wedding dinner this Saturday) for me because the last minute changes Pauline is attempting to "persuade" me to have. A few examples are:

1. She promised us a topiary (fresh floral arch) within the contract but when she got the quote from the florist for it (we had already chosen the cheapest flowers available according to the florist), she wanted us to "help" her with it.

2. She urged us to have only 1 reserve table even though within our contract we had request for 2. Her reason being that it would be wasting 2 tables of food if we do not utilise the tables. However, we require the 2 reserve tables in case of any changes in guest attendance. Then she turned around yesterday and told us that she will only be preparing food for my guaranteed tables and if we wanted to utilise the reserve tables, we must inform her by 7:30 pm!?!?!

During the food tasting, the food was delicious. Hopefully, the quality on my AD will remain or surpass the food tasting one.

We are estimating about 5 hours for our solemnisation, cocktail and wedding dinner. If you are having a wedding lunch, perhaps it will be much shorter. My friend's one (not in Peony Jade) lasted nearly 4 hours.

I am not sure if there is a cocktail session for wedding lunch as we are having a wedding dinner.

Hi Cindy,

We tasted the 6 dishes from our wedding dinner menu. At first, Pauline was not willing to let us taste the sharksfin. However, when we requested, she gave in... The only things we did not taste was our first dish (cause it's a whole suckling pig), the rice dish and the desert.

Hi Binkies,

I would advise you to put all details discussed with Pauline into the contract. Everything nitty gritty should be inside so that there is no room for errors, miscommunication and last minute changes. Also, I would advise against paying the deposit until after you are fully satisfied with the contract and Pauline and yourself or your FH have signed on the dotted line.

hi Artemis,

congratulations!!! nervous?

i'm so sorry to hear that from you...... it must be very stressful and wu nai for you and your fb..... let me tell you, you are not the only one who's facing these.....i've faced that from her too. i can fully understand the kind of feelings you have. the problem why i asked about how long it takes for everything to end is because she only granted us abt 2hrs for us to finish our lunch which is not the case when we had our first meeting. i am trying to find a way to prolong the timing cos finds it a bit rush (but she guranteed us it's not) things just went wrong even though there's contract.....

good to hear that the food is good, at least has some comforting......

anyway, do not worry, things will definitely work out for you!

gals, remember to put down any tiny things you wanted black and white in the contract and pay only when things are really sorted out. signed it only when you are very sure and stand to your ground, be firm or else you may ended up like me.....

Hi,

Sounds like there are lots of details to look into. Thats what I feared most. I hardly attend any friends wedding so I don't know what are the things to note. Speaking of which, I do have to ask if there's a limitation on when to utilise the "make up" dinner. I don't want the situation where I will need to come back to eat the same dishes within a week from my wedding dinner.

Hi Gerls,

I'm thinking of having my dinner at PJ too. In the package that i got, there was no mention of beer. anione noe how much do they charge for the beer and is there any complimentary beer given?

I met Pauline when we went there to do sme testing of the food before asking then about the packages they offer. But I don't find her very good to talk to. Anyone found it difficult to negotiate with her and any advice?

I really like the place/ambience, and would like to get the best I can get out of the package? Any advice? tks very much!

Hi Ladies,

I am also deciding to book our wedding dinner at Peony-Jade. But have yet to go down to dicuss with Pauline. May I know how much deposit is required and do they allow payment by credit card?

Thanks in advance
