Park Green

hi all,
I haven't been participating or following the forum closely but definitely am getting excited and anxious abt the TOP soon!! realised i'm pretty much 'behind' all of you... haven't even start looking for designs, contractor, furnitures - only bot 1 bed and dining table so far.. jia leck.. lots to catch up...

I went down to PG on Sunday too. Ah Eng, were u there abt 5pm in a car? if so, that's me behind! hahaa... last sunday was super hot, so all the units facing the pool got a good hot tan, plus those facing the LRT too..

Hey guys
Need to check - is anyone else here on a home loan with OCBC? We havent gotten the lawyer's notice for further installment payment the last couple of months(!) and checked with them today.

According to them, they did not get futher notification from our bank (OCBC)...just wondering how come its so slow, when some of you guys have already paid the last bit before the TOP amount....
URGHHH
uhoh.gif

Hi Jun,
Taking about cars stopping by the roadside, me and my hubby stopped by PG during our jog last mth, we too, saw a couple of cars parking by the roadside along the LRT track. They were also checking out the building progress of PG. Maybe they are one of you guys out there
biggrin.gif

Limay,
My loan is also from OCBC. Me too, have not received any letter from them recently. I think the last letter from them was at least 2-3 mths ago. Isn't it better that we get the payment letter later?? Then we dun have to fork out the money so early?
lame.gif

But I'm a blur queen myself, so I dun really know what to pay and when...

And hey, for those who are buying new beds or mattresses, Robinsons is now having great sale on their mattresses. They are going at a discount of 35% (with free divan or bed frame depending on the model of the mattress), on top of the usual free gifts like mattress protector and pillows. Or if all you need is just a mattress, you can opt for a 39% discount. Robinsons' cardholder enjoys additional 5% discount. Best part is that you can delay delivery until your hosue is ready. Got check it out. Promo is until end of August

Hi Woody,

happy.gif
I just got back from my honeymoon still very tired. Don't feel like doing anything yet.. Very lazy. :P

Hi Alvin,

I went to Barcelona, Berlin and Prague for 16 days..
happy.gif

Hi ah eng,

I took housing loan from uob also.
happy.gif

Hi Carol,
Speaking of the devil, just got the letter from the lawyers yesterday, OCBC asking for the next 2 5% together....so now am at the same stage as everyone else, just the TOP and the final completion bit left to pay...

Hi Limay,
I guess I should be getting it soon too, since all have gotten their laywers' letters. Will chek my mailbox later in the evening
happy.gif

hi Hermione,

I've submitted the booking of wedding banquet as a proof that I will be getting married (ROM) next year.

How about you? Have you submitted yours?

Hi alvin,

Jean just say the TOP date tentatively is mid Sept. She said she cannot "confirmed" the date. I think all depends on the inspection process as what I gather from her.

Did you all get the same reply from her?

Forgotten which block I am in. :P Coz my FH always take care of the house thing. If I am not wrong should be blk 12. The one facing swimming pool nearer to ponggol park.

Hi all,

Latest news from NTUC Choices Homes. My friend just called up & asked anymore unit available & found out that beside the 2 unit (#02-06/#02-07) facing the BBQ pit, now also got a unit giving up by owner (Blk 2, #05-04 1550 sq ft asking S$550k). Can ask around your friend if they are interested.

For the T.O.P date, they target by Mid Sept or latest by End Sept. For the maintance fees, all the unit in park green have to pay 4 share be'cos all the unit is from 100 sqm & above. Will keep u all update on the fees. Cheers!!!!!

we were trying to see if we can go in PG to have a look around... heheh but nice try... the guard dun allow us in.

mid-sept... pls-pls-pls quick come.

Hi Alvin

It's ntuc-choicehomes.com but the site is under construction for more than 6 months already.

Hi Hermione

I have also submitted my receipt for booking of banquet. My solicitor also sent to me a standard undertaking form to sign and return to the developer.

Hi everybody

Any recommendation for mattress? Which brand should I choose: Simmon, Sealy, King Koil..... Thanks.

Hi All,
I am staying at blk 6 not blk 12. :P
Any neighbours there??

Went to look at my unit during afternoon at 2pm and 5pm. Seems like my unit will be facing setting sun which is during 5pm. Hope this can help those staying at the same block with me to plan for the curtains thickness.

Hi KaRo,

I wld personally recommend Simmons thou their averages prices can be more ex than some of the brands out there. The Simmons I have is great. It's a pillow-top model with plush feel but yet firm enough for those with back problems. However, one thing to note is that those mattresses from premium range (usually costing above $2K) have thicker mattress heights than the usual King Koil or Four Stars brand. It can be restrictive when it comes to choosing bedsheets with a 13"-14" height/depth. I ended up being only able to buy bedsheets from expensive brands and I couldn't buy those bedsheets on sale cos they simply dun fit!

I recently went to Robinsons Centrepoint (they are having sale now) and tried out the mattresses there. Sealy is not bad too, though I also like this new King Koil mattress (viscoelastic? not sure if I got it right). But still, I think I like my current Simmons mattress the best thou it's inconvenient when it comes to buying mattresses
biggrin.gif

One more thing to note. If you ever get a Simmons, get either a queen or King and NOT "Euro Queen". Euro Queen is a size between King and Queen and you will have more headaches buying bedsheets!

Hi Ka Ro

I am also looking for a mattress. I took Simmon as the gold standard. I am currently trying other brands. After that I will decide what I can afford.

Hey Kyosho,
If you have spare cash, dun wait too long to change your mattress cos the offer at Robsinsons is too gd too resist. It's going at 39%+$100 off (not to mention free gifts too!) if you are buying mattress alone (w/o bed frame). It's so worth it. Too bad my mattress is still pretty new, otherwise I will seize this chance to buy a new one. Imagine it's going at almost half price of what I bought 2.5 yrs back!
angry.gif

Hi bbmaru

I haven't bought any mattress yet. I will be going to centrepoint to check out Dunlopillo gallery, and then pop by at Robinsons. Thanks

Hi fanta,

If you like to follow fengshui, you will want to have air going under your bed ie. 4 legged bedframe, to reduce health problems.
happy.gif

hmm...quite blur - how much of a diff does the mattress make? Was thinking of paying $300 or so for a King Koil or something (from those place that always advertise in small adverts in the papers...)hehe...piggy - no problem sleeping on anything. But then again, my brother-in-law spent close to $3000 for their matress! ugh...worth it meh?

Hi Fanta,
Kyosho has a point there. In Fengshui aspect, it's better to have a bed with legs, but in terms of house cleaning, that would mean you will one more area to clean as dust will accumulate under the bed
lame.gif

Other than that, if you buy a divan, you will have to buy matching skirtings to cover the divan when you buy bedsheets. Otherwise, it's kind of unslightly. But I have check with the Robsinsons promoters, they said you can pay some money to get the divan covered in vinyl leather (or whatever materials they offer), so you save the trouble of searching for matching skirtings
happy.gif

Hey Kyosho,
Are you into Fengshui or more of a self-study, DIY fengshui person? Cos I mentioned before about getting a Fengshui master for my house. You interested?

Hi Limay,
A million YES to you question. A mattress is very very important cos you spent at least 6-8 hrs lying on it and that's the time where you body rests and repairs itself. Esp for a person with back problem like me, I see vast diff in getting a good mattress as compared to a so-so one. Moreover, the more ex one with gd pocketed springs will assure you of good sleep. You won't be disturbed by your partner's tossing in bed esp if you are a light sleeper. Moreover, gd mattress doesn't sag that fast and there's this "non-flip" mattress where you dun have to flip every few mths to prevent further sagging (of the springs).

Missylan,
Slumber=alseep, so Slumberland = a mattress that can make you fall asleep...so the name suggests that it's good!
happy.gif

Actually mattress is just like clothes. Some might feel comfortable in a material but not the others. So you got to lay on every mattress you are considering to buy to see which one makes your body feel the most comfortable. There are some mattress that immediately makes you go "wow, I want to buy this!". Simmons gave me this feeling and that's why I swear by this brand till now. Durability wise, I still can't tell if Simmons is that durable, since my mattress is still consider as in "tender age"
biggrin.gif

But Missylan, how many mths are you into your pregnancy? Cos some pregnant women will find firm mattress too hard for comfortable towards the later stage of their pregnancy. So maybe you have to observe as time goes by. If you can't sleep as well at night or wake up with aching back, the mattress can play a part in it
happy.gif

Hi Carol/Kyosho,
It seems cost wise, mattress+divan is cheaper than purchasing bedframe+mattress. But those divan covered with vinyl leather which I have seen so far don't look good and purchasing skirtings separately also troublesome, plus me too lazy to sweep the dust acumulated under the bed (thks for highlighting). I have came across some nice platform beds, still contemplating what to choose. Wonder what types you guys have bought?

Like Limay, I hope to know is the $300+ King Koil mattress really no good or is it that the shop selling them is more competitive than others?

Hey Fanta,
Actually I won't say that those $300 mattresses from those small furniture shops or warehouses are lousy, but if you pay more for the higher range one, every cent is worth it. Before I got married, I bought this mattress (can't remember the brand) which cost me about $400+. I thought it was ok. After sleeping for 2 yrs, it (the springs) started sagging and noisy when you climb onto the mattress. Although the sales person will tell you that those mattresses are pocketed-springs, it's crap. And of course not to mention that I have flipped the mattress countless times over the 2 yrs (and it still sag so fast!). After sleeping on Simmons for some time, I tried to sleep on my old $400 mattress and I had insomia *LOL* I kept tossing and turning the whole night! So I believe diff mattress does make some diff!

But from a diff view, if you buy a cheaper one, you won't feel the pinch should you want to change the mattress a couple of yrs later...

But note, mattress sag even faster if both spouses are heavy in mass. The springs are of better quality in the more ex mattresses, thus they can support heavier weight pple better
happy.gif

I love to sleep, so there's no way that I compromise with lousy mattress & suffer from sleepless nites & backache at the end of the day! So we have pple voting for Simmons, King Koil, Slumberland, anymore to recommend?

What about bedsheets? Which brand is good?

bbmaru,

I DIY fengshui - read a book and attended free talks
happy.gif
I hope we will get a free fengshui talk after TOP, where the developer will organise a function with special discount on electrical items/furniture/renovation etc. I attended one at Changi Rise when they TOP. If you are asking a fengshui master, then you better get him to check your renovation drawing plans 1st.

Hi ladies,

I just saw today newspaper regarding Robinsons sales. Don't forget only few Simmons brand are offer better disc of 39% + $100 + 5% or 10%(Robinsons card holder). If you are not Robinsons card holder, You can log in the price and quickly go and apply the card. Thay allow you to just pay the deposits of $100
happy.gif

Hey Kyosho,
You mean there's such fanciful events one ah? I hope the developer does organise such stuff, cos we will be the one who will benefit!
happy.gif

I tried to DIY Fengshui, but it's an immense and abstruse form of art that I can't do it on my own. So I decided to spend the money and hopefully things will turn for the better for me and hubby
happy.gif

Fanta,
Almost all expensive bedsheets are gd *LOL*
That's mainly becos those ex bedsheets have higher threadcounts and are smoother and more comfortable. Those cheaper bedsheets (below $20) haver less than 280 threadcounts and are coarse and will become "lumpy" (balls of fabric will surface on the bedsheets) after a few washes.

Brands like King Koil, StyleMaster, Martex, Sheridan, Elle and Hallmark are all very good. Price wise, Martex, Sheridan and Hallmark can be madly expensive. I almost cried when I had to part with $300+ for a full set of Hallmark bedsheet (and it's at 50% off!) for my customary wedding back then. A cheaper and better alternative will be Aussino, but you must get those sets with at least 280 threadcounts one, and not those that are always on offer at $9.90-$19.90 in the papers. Those are only so-so quality (and usually without matching bolster case).

In any case if anyone is interested in getting Aussino bedsheet set or bedsheets, I have a few brand new queen size sets to sell at half price cos they didn't fit my Simmons mattress (this is one lesson I have learnt). Anyone interested pls let me know
happy.gif

Rachel,
Can do can do, will quickly pop by Robinsons to have a look before the sale is over
happy.gif

Carol,
How abt those more affordable ones like Jean Perry, Sintex? Ever tried? Must ensure they are 100% cotton as well besides the high threadcount? Too bad that we're getting King size bed, so can't get the Aussino sets fm you.

Hi Fanta,
Oh, what a pity...
sad.gif

Anyway, the Robinsons sale is until the end of the mth, so no worries. They can w/hold the delivery until your house is ready
happy.gif

Just to let you know, you can choose between a 35% discount and get a free bedframe or divan (depending on the model you are getting, ex model - free bedframe, cheaper model - free divan) or opt for 39% + $100 off if you are getting only the mattress. Ask the promoter to calculate for you and see which one is cheaper. If you are in need of a new bed, then the 35% + free bedframe is better. The promoter told me that I can choose either one of the promo, so use it to your advantage
happy.gif

Jean Perry should be better than Sintex depending on your budget really. Sintex (local brand) is not a bad option but note that these are not the ones to buy for a Simmons mattress. The bedsheet depth is too shallow for the mattress.

You know, sometimes I "envy" those shoppers when they are grabbing those bedsheets on crazy offers, but I can't buy cos they simply dun fit!
angry.gif
I once tried to "force fit" the bedsheet but it looked as if my mattress was "wearing" an undersized bedsheet
sad.gif

Oh Carol, btw, are the other brands of mattress like King Koil on offer as well? If I get a King size Simmons mattress, normal bedshts can fit rite?

Fanta,
The brands which I can recall off hand that are on offer are King Koil, Four Stars and Sealy, but I believe there are more brands than that on offer. Simmons is a premium brand, so I think the discount is not 35-39% but in a sum of a few hundreds.

If you are considering getting a Simmons, I wld advise you to check out the Simmons Gallery 1st, and see if Robinsons' discount is better.

Another tip. You can actually "bargain" with the promoter to give you more pillows instead of mattress protector or the other way round. I change my pillows for a quilt cover set when I bought my Simmons then, but it was at Simmons Gallery
biggrin.gif

Sorry to let you know that normal bedsheet CANNOT fit into Simmons, esp if your Simmons is a pillowtop. When buying bedsheets of an unsure brand, check with the promoter if the bedsheet's depth is at least 12". If not, dun even think about getting it. My mattress was almost 14" when I bought it, now the pillowtop sank a little, it's about 13" or so now. So local brands like Sintex or sub-line of StyleMaster bedsheet cannot fit at all. Only the few brands I mentioned in my earlier post can fit. Elle is actually one of the more affordable brand I will recommend. Last but not least, DUN buy flat sheet but opt for FITTED sheet. I bought a few flat sheet (becos they are cheaper) and I had to spend time every morning to fold and shove the ends of the bedsheets under the mattress. What a chore! So no doubt buying a Simmons is wonderful, I have paid some price for quality sleep
lame.gif

Hi everybody

Thanks for the information.

Hi Fanta

Takashimaya is also having promotion for King Koil until the end of the month. I think the discount is 35%.

Thks Carol. You've been very informative
talker.gif
Will definitely take into consideration all your pointers when I go mattress shopping.

Thks Ka Ro too, one more plc for me to compare prices...hee

No problemo, Fanta!

Hope you'll find your ideal mattress/bed so you can enjoy sleeping till late mornings on weekends
lame.gif

Keep us updated on your best buy!
happy.gif

Wait a min, Fanta.

Are you a Robinsons cardholder? If you are not and are interested to buy from Robsinson, yet finds it troublesome to apply for a Robsinson card, I can use my Robsinson card to make payment on your behalf so you get an extra 5% discount. A neighbour in need is a neighbour indeed
happy.gif

Hi Carol,
BB is 17weeks. Tummy is still quite flat though. Sleeping for me is no problem, I have many postures when zzz... Haahaa...

Can I know the estimated price when you've bought yr mattress(Simmons)?

Thank you
154281.png

Hi Missylan,

I bought the mattress 2.5yrs ago at $2,500 or thereabout. But I think it should be much cheaper now since it's not a new model any more.

Hello Carol,
You're so thoughtful
kiss.gif
Am glad to have a neighbour like you! Yes, I have the Robinsons card. Maybe next time I run out of salt or sugar can run upstairs & borrow fm you....hee

Hi Missylan,
As your tummy gets bigger, you must find a good sleeping position. Advisable to sleep on your left
yawn.gif

Hi Fanta,
No problem, come come!! Give me a ring ring and I can even bring down to you if you are cooking halfway
happy.gif

Is there any particular reason for sleeping on one's left when pregnant? Fanta, you already a mama or you heard from others' experiences?

Hey Carol,
Can you cook? Next time we can share some cooking tips and recipes with each other. Limay & the rest who are interested can join us too
happy.gif

Here's why sleeping on the left is good when pregnant:
Although there's no real harm in sleeping on your right side, lying on your left side is actually good for you and your baby: It improves the flow of blood and nutrients to the placenta and it helps your kidneys efficiently eliminate waste products and fluids from your body. That, in turn, reduces swelling in your ankles, feet, and hands. If you train yourself to sleep on your left side early on, you'll have an easier time falling asleep when your belly is bulging later.

During the second half of pregnancy, avoid sleeping on your back, a position that puts the full weight of your uterus on your spine, back muscles, intestines, and the inferior vena cava (the vein that transports blood from your lower body to the heart). Back-sleeping can also put you at risk for backaches and hemorrhoids, inefficient digestion, and impaired breathing and circulation. Lying on your back in the second and third trimester can also cause changes in blood pressure. For some women, it can cause a drop in blood pressure that can make them feel dizzy; for others, it can cause an unwanted increase in blood pressure.

Oh yeah, I'm a mama. My little princess is turning 2 next mth
bounce.gif

Fanta,
Hai yo, no wonder you sounded so detailed and experienced... daughter's already 2!! Will keep those info in mind
happy.gif

I think I will be an old hen who will be lying "eggs" late. But since the govt has provided more incentives for us to have babies, I think we can start planning already
happy.gif

And yes, I do cook (it's my hobby!), but not often since I work late and only left with weekends to experiment and practise. Sometimes I dun even get to cook during weekends cos the housework is enough to kill me (plus I have back problems, so I cannot "overdo" housework
lame.gif
)

Other than the usual lunch and dinner kind of dishes, I make bread, cookies, cakes, ondeh ondeh, curry puffs, goreng pisang, Tiramisu and stuffs like that. I love to try desserts and pastries recipes! When we have the time, we can make food for one anor and try each others' food
happy.gif

But after I move into the new house, I will have to spend yet anor sum of money on the oven, mixer, blender, baking tins and stuffs for my hobby since those stuffs I'm using now are my mil's
sad.gif
