Life is so short

Hi, starting this thread cuz this morning I just received an sms from someone. Her bro just passed away. He was my ex-colleague whom I worked closely for almost 1 year in my previous comp.

I didn't know what happened and I called my hubby. He asked me if he died of cancer. I said I dunno. My hubby said that when he still in the comp, he always complained of pain in his leg. Which I remembered vaguely that he had been seeing a doc for his ailment. Turn out he was treated for wrong thing. He had a cancer growth and it was pressing on his nerve which translated to his leg pain.

I haven't seen him or contacted him in more than 4 years after I was retrenched from that company. And I feel sad for him. The whole thing seems so surreal when it happened to someone I know....

I hope he did not suffer much when he passed on. RIP.

My consolations...

no one expected all these to happen which sometimes human is at fault. they always take for granted over things..

rem the ger who was killed in the accident by then central divider at jurong east ? she was actually my pri sch friend.

When I learnt that my long time friend had cancer, I cried so hard. Luckily, my friend survived and cancer is in remission now.

Treasure your friends. Make effort to keep in touch no matter how busy. Say nice things to people. Smile more. You never know when will be the last time you see them......

There was a girl i used to know, who works at the children's clinic downstairs. I remembered her very well, she's always smiling and generally a happy-go-lucky kind of person. Whenever i see her, she will never fail to stop to chat with me, even if it was for a little while. But as she works in a different location from me, i don't get to see her very often. It was some months later, when i was going through the contacts list on my phone that i came across hers and immediately thought that i should go down and say hello. when i finally had the opportunity to do so, the first thing the person i had asked told me, didn't you know that she had passed on?. omg .. she was sooo young, like 22 and her baby was only a few months old. apparently she had a severe asthma attack and by the time her husband sought help, it was too late for her. it just made me feel sad, and angry .. she's still young, have a whole life ahead of her, so unfair that she's been taken from us too early.

Someone not very close to me just passed away too....

but surprisely when I see her lying there, I just teared..

really, make do with what you have now, dun live with regret.

He will seek peace in the other world. Be happy for him that he is free from pain. Do treasure your friendship/parents etc =)

Happie Friday

My colleague was telling me....her 6-yr old son asked her every night if she will die.....and y she will die...

She said everyone dies when they grow old...part and parcel of life. And her son told he if that's the case then he dun wanna grow up. Said if he doesn't grow up then she wouldn't have to grow old and die....

She said she wanted to cry everytime her son asked her this question.

Its Friday today and I have to attend a wedding dinner later of a close friend. Very mixed feelings now. He will be sent off tomorrow. I dunno wat to say but I hoped he did not suffer much and is now with God.

nods .. enjoy ur dinner..

your close friend is opening another chapter of his life. you should be happy for him .

your ex colleague just happen to end the journey sooner than others..

like what many say .. life and death is merely just a transition. whats important is the things that you do and experience in this transition.

This reminds me of the time I first experienced the death of someone I saw quite often and it was only afew months ago. To make it worse, it was actually quite a gruesome and scary experience.

She was a colleague at the workplace and she didn't turn up for work all of sudden without rhyme or reason. Afew days later, we found out she was murdered...and it was the newspapers that informed us and they even published a picture of her body lying on the ground with blood smeared against the wall and all that.

I was so shocked and so frightened, everywhere I went around the workplace reminded me of her and my interactions with her. I even thought of her at night sometimes...took me quite awhile to get over it.

Thinking back on this incident really gives me the creeps

Suffering from sickness and pain is so torturous,

Shuffling in and out of four-bounded walls [the hospital].

Injections cause the hair to fall,

While the strong medicine induces nausea;

Waiting for the end whilst bed-ridden.

Begging the gods, and begging Buddha,
To let me go in peace.

Calling out to my parents, you must come and fetch me,

Fetching me to accompany you [in the afterlife].

I¡¯m only 40 plus this year,

Yet sickness comes to torture me.

Wishing for death, but unable to die; wishing for life, yet unable to truly live.

Left with half a life, being a burden to others.

I have seen past this ephemerality called life.

hearing tat news really saddened me last nite... it could have been any of us on a biz trip... she looks like any of our fren, and tat's why it strikes even harder this time... totally innocent.

Just find it disturbing to have her personal photos splashed all over the newspapers.

Let's observe a moment of silence for all those innocent lives that are lost over the insanity of some extremist individuals.

the world is her oyster...

so poor thing.. just married not long, so young, why her? only there for a 1 day seminar & she is dead..

jus read her obituary.... that's how she wants to be remembered by her love ones and friends... an impactful life, an impactful death.

my condolences to them.

Remains me of the former DBS CEO, young and high flyer but being diagnosed with leukaemia during CNY and passed away a few months ago leaving behind 3 young children.

Another was my friend's dad, he fell down while working and was diagnosed with last stage of liver cancer, passed away within 1 mth.

Life is really unpredictable.
We don't really know that when misfortunate will strike us.

I lost my grandpa, grandma & dad within 6months...jan 08, march 08 & june 08...2008 was a horrible year for me...but life moves on..live life to the fullest...

I lost my MIL on 9 March 2009. She is diagnosed with Liver cancer on 31 Dec 2008 and it took less than 3 months and she is gone.

I've stayed with her for 10 years and really miss her very much...

Yes life is indeed short.

Moi uncle lost his only child via a freak road accident, driven by the teacher from his school, just outside his flat.

That was the only time my uncle did not send him to school.

The time happened was on Friday, he just turned 13.

Overnight, my uncle's hair all turned white. Very heartbreaking (Even for a guy like me to take)

And off, it's gone like that.

My cousin hubby passed away in 2007 due to complications of long term illness. Her hubby unable to work due to both his legs was amputated. She have being taking care of him hubby....in and out of hospital...working hard to pay for hospital bills. She have 2 grown up kids (married and have their own children) and she was a devoted buddhist.

In year 2007, her hubby passed away..... her burden is gone.......... she told my mother that she is planning for a holiday trip but out of the sudden she fall sick.

To shock to learn that she was diagnosed with cancer in 2008 and went for chemo sessions but still unable to survive thru'

Life is indeed short. unfair and cruel too!

Sometimes....good and kind people may not be have good life.

two of my nephew 10 and 11 years old in indonesia get burn to death by the maid.

their parents in china doing business, i just met them. my family and all relatives dare not to tell them until they reach home.

it is in the headlines news.

be cool, be hold, be happy. no time for suffering.

In the headline news and the parent's do not know about it? And instead of contacting the parents who are the employer of the maid and immediate family members they inform the others first? And not letting the parents know keeping it from them? They do not ask to speak to their children while calling back?

Have not came across any of this "headline news". Maybe you would make the reference to?

This is not making any sense.

But in actual fact, guess there is such a case a few years back.. in a factory office (if i remember clearly)... The maid set fire killing the children and employers.. But she sort of feeling remorseful, she save the youngest kid... something like that........................

Black burn - But your so call headline doesn't tally with what I said leh.... *blur*... correct me if I'm wrong...................

by the way, when the headlines news on the TV the parents in overseas. they fly back ASAP. once they heard something happend in the home, but they don't know their 2 kids were dead.

i really admire your post. people are mourning and you guys making a joke. i am impressed.

god bless you.

Iris, the case which you mentioned about took place in bukit merah several years back.

The maid murdered the employer and the elder kid. Then set fire to the place and escape with the younger kid(too young to understand what happened) to set up this "crime scene" that they were attacked in bid to get off the hook. However, it was discovered later her intentions.

"their parents in china doing business, i just met them. my family and all relatives dare not to tell them until they reach home.

it is in the headlines news."

And then,

"by the way, when the headlines news on the TV the parents in overseas. they fly back ASAP. once they heard something happend in the home, but they don't know their 2 kids were dead."

Big cannon. School holiday too free liao ah?

Ya.. the father passed away in 2008 (kidney failure)..... Really a poor boy

well, life's short infact.

I wonder if u all recall the 14 year old girl who got drown in the drain? Debra Koh last year april.

She is my best friend's daughter, i watch this girl grow up.

One month before she got drown, i was still talking to her on the phone.

I cried my lungs out during the wake and the cremation. Till today i still can't accept the fact that she is already gone.

Life's short and unpredictable. First time I experienced it was when I was 19. It wasn't the natural passing of elders, but a friend who was of the same age.

He's a nice chap from the next class who was with a girl in my class in sec school. In his routine to prepare for national service, he went for wee hour jog with 2 of his friends. They were along east coast road when a sleepy fedex truck driver ran the 3 of them down.

My friend passed away on the spot. Another one passed away in hospital while one recovered from serious injuries.

When we attended his wake, the choking feeling just seized us. We saw him lying through the viewing panel of the coffin as if he's sleeping. The gf was still talking to him like buying what breakfast for him the next day. Heart wretching.

Well as time goes, we tend to grow much familiar with life and what comes along with it. Treasure the present and live everyday as if it's the last.

"Oh gosh....I heard the hubby passed away or wat rite due to some illness? How's the youngest kid? OMG...."

The kid is being cared for by his uncle.
