Indian wedding Services in Singapore

Dear Ladies,

Now that my wedding is over and I have settled most if not all things related, I thought a review of the services would be helpful to you who are in the planning stages.

Firstly, the venue I had my temple wedding was PGP Hall. It is highly popular and despite a 1.5 year advance booking I was not able to get the slot I wanted and had to settle. I would recommend making the booking as soon as you know your date if you are eyeing this temple.

My Reception was held at MBS and it was a great venue for 200 pax. While they don't specialise in south Indian cuisine, they are receptive to feedback and the guests loved the food.

The decor was by Pandora and they were truly amazing. I only mentioned the colours I desired and left it up to them to come up with the decor and they truly delivered. Was very happy working with Krish and his team as they were punctual and flexible with whatever conditions that were thrown to them.

For photog/video I hired two different companies. For my wedding day, Amore handled everything and they truly do live up to their name. The only regret I have is that I was unable to book them for my second date. Their full footage is akin to the quality of the highlights videos you see on their youtube channel and I love William's candid manner of communication. On my reception day, I hired StudioA and while they are extremely friendly and easy to work with, it has taken them half a year to deliver the products and their work pales in comparison. I do however think this is subjective on what style you would prefer.

For MUA I hired Bubbly from Lookstudio for all my events. For the 3 events that I had her, she tried her best to attempt different looks and vary the style of the makeup. She is very professional and I left it up to her to recommend what she thought was the best. My relatives were dolled up by Roxanne and they commented that she was good, fast, very approachable and punctual.

My henna was by Saheli and while I would say they were prompt, they do not stay with you and if you have itchy fingers like I do, the tendency to mess it up is very high. I am not sure if most artists leave once they are done, but I think that is something that would be good to look out for in an artist. We also hired henna artists for our friends and family from heavenly henna and they were efficient and drew beautiful designs in the time they had. They were so popular that we had to extend the timing.

Food for the wedding was by Gokul and the food from them always has had fantastic reviews. I have sampled the other places before and I would still say that Gokul's food stands out in terms of variety and quality. For my other functions I used Raja catering and it is a big favorite of my family because their food is notably spicier than other caterers.

If you are looking to buy your attires locally, I would advise being cautious about what the salespeople tell you. A very popular boutique (which begins with 's') told me that they had brought in the saree 'new' and that it was exclusive but when I watched other wedding videos, I noticed 3 brides wearing the exact same saree. While it's understandable that there will be reproductions made, I believe that you should be upfront about it esp when it is in that price range. That being said, I still adore some of the designs that they bring in. The best however would be to make a trip down to Chennai as honestly you will not be able to find products for the same quality and price. I also bought my jewelry sets there and they are more unique than using the ones that the MUA will be able to provide you with.

For wedding invites, which I know most of you ladies struggle with, I ordered online after going around looking for vendors in JB. To be honest, the ones in SG charge exorbitant rates and the ones in JB didn't have any designs to our liking. While it is a harrowing experience depending on an online vendor, the cards were delivered on a timely basis and there were several compliments on them.

One of the biggest headaches we faced were the emcees and deejays for our reception. We had contacted Just feel productions and we communicated with them, paid a deposit confirming emcees, deejay and 2 dance performances. $500 later and a lack on response from them, we had to cancel. They were apparently too busy and could not provide us with a meeting slot even 2 months before the event. It was truly disappointing and we went scrambling to fill this up. Thank heavens that Varman was available. He is a consummate professional and everyone loved his emceeing. I had overseas guests who were in love with the way he ran the show and it was easy communicating with him. One of the biggest things I look out for in a wedding emcee is that they should not be degrading towards the notion of marriage or women and that limited the pool in SG rather greatly. Varman however was perfect and I highly recommend hiring him for your events.

I think the biggest lesson from everything is that all will work out fine and there is no need to worry. If you have any questions, do feel free to ask :)

Can I ask about Bubbly's saree tying for your temple wedding. Thank you =)

Dear all,

I'm an Indian btb, simple church wedding in late November. HTB is Chinese.

Settled reception caterer and venue. Still need MUA (if not I've to DIY with family) and AD photographer/videographer. Maybe be few things we spend much on as we do want to look good on once in a lifetime day.

Doing a website in lieu of invitation cards, which will just be a postcard. Ours is going to be a budget and simple wedding but doesn't have to look cheap too, we hope. Just think too much spent on weddings, instead of marriage.

Wondering if you could share the spreadsheet.

My email is: gibbervel@ (Hotmail.com)

Thank you.

Hi all,
Thought I should share my encounters/experiences for my ROM and Wedding so the BTBs can have a better idea.

My ROM was at Hotel Fort Canning last May. My husband and I chose the hotel cause we found it unique and we like the concept of the hotel. Many complimented that the food was really good.

Photography and Videography: Ji Photography
Harjit is a very committed photographer. Pictures turned out better than expected. He captures emotions well too, something that I like. By the way, he is from Seremban. Was a little apprehensive initially, but he made us comfortable and we share a close knit relationship now.

Makeup: Looks Bridal Studio
Bubbly is one helluva talented MUA. I love her for she was so committed and she did an excellent job.
I left it to her entirely to do my looks. Went along with her suggestions. I did not go for a trial and I definitely do not regret engaging her.
She even taught me how to walk in my gown, for she saw me tripping. An amazing soul she is.

Emcee: Saravanan Ayavoo
Pricey but he entertained the audience and engaged them very well. Versatile in his own way, many who came mentioned that they enjoyed the moments.

Traditional Wedding was at PGP, by luck I managed to get the date 8 months prior to wedding. Pure luck, but BTBs do not take the risk.
Please book earlier.

Food: Mayura Catering
Variety of food stations, everyone complimented that the food was delicious. Set up was unique.

Deco: Pandora Tomorrow
Vanan was accomodating and we just had to tell him the colours we wanted. Deco was very unique and elegant. Something different I would say.

Photography and Videography: Ji Photography

MUA: Ananthy
I wanted something simple yet elegant. Again, I did not go for trial and left it to her entirely to do it. She was the only one who came along with me to the temple. Within a span of ten minutes, she changed me accessories and wedding saree and I was out. Everyone was messing up on the entrance and we wasted a good ten minutes. Ananthy held my hand and said let's walk and she brought me to the entrance. I was not feeling nervous, but she kept talking to me and made me feel very comfortable. She helped me along the way, such a humble soul she is.

I hope my experiences would help some of you a way or another. Please feel free to msg me if anything!

Here's wishing all the BTBs best of luck! Stay calm and enjoy the moment. Lotsa love <3

Hi Yogeswari,

My fiancee and I are looking at Hotel Fort Canning for our solemnization too. We were told that there is no food tasting and are worried about the quality of the food. Did you guys choose the Chinese lunch/dinner menu or International lunch buffet? Any advice/comments based on your experience will be greatly appreciated.

With thanks!

Hi ladies, I've attached the spreadsheet but I'm not sure if you are able to view them. Do take note these spreadsheets were compiled almost 2yrs ago and the prices have increased. It's better to contact each vendor directly and some of them even have promotions going on.

I have also enquired with a few photographers on my own and I've attached an updated list. I selected Sathia in the end as he's highly recommended and even uses drones to capture your wedding. So cool!

For my make up I'm going with my friend Colours By Priya as I'm comfortable with her as she realu listens to what clients want and she has also worked for years with Bubbly from Looks (who is also amazing by the way).

Hi,

Firstly, congratulations on your wedding. You mentioned pgp hall, despite 1.5 yrs in advanced booking, you were not able to get the preferred time and date. Is it for a specific month or generally? And if so, what's your recommended years in advance should one book? I want to get married there. Thank you in advance.

Hello all!

My wedding is finally over and oh boy how glad I am! Here are my vendors that I had engaged and a quick review on them.

Food: Gokul, Food was amazing and all of our guests (including non-indians) praised it. They exceeded our expectations and even called us to ask how they could improve on their work. That was really thoughtful and good service. This is something that our indian vendors should start doing.

Deco: Pandora, Am happy with their work and felt that their work lifted the atmosphere. I had obtained many quotations and read reviews on them before settling with Pandora.

MUA: Agnes Sobha, a caring and patient MUA that you can ever ask for. I went for a few trials with other MUAs before settling with her. She has made up many dark skin brides so she was well-aware of the correct foundation tones that would match me. She made the effort to suggest a few looks and hairdos that were suitable for me which I really appreciated.

Photographer: Studio A, I liked the way they worked with a pleasant disposition but I don't think it would be fair for me to review them without receiving their photos.

Henna: Ela's Henna, Highly not recommended. They had sent another artist as the main artist wasn't able to make it. I was not informed of this until she arrived at my door step. The artist was also not aware of the designs that I had requested for. It was too late for me to turn down and she did such a bad job. Her 'natural' henna were those cones bought from Little India and the keylines of the henna were so thick. The artist assured that the henna would turn out fine but I have not seen such a bad bridal henna. It was such a disappointment and I think other artists could have done a better job.

Wedding Cards: theweddinginvitationcards, A vendor in North India, We requested for 1 hardcopy sample before the bulk printing (chargeable) which allowed us to check the final product before the rest were printed. Everyone simply loved the cards.

Door Gift: https://www.facebook.com/TraditionalIndianWeddingDoorGift as well as Taobao, a huge variety and you will be spoilt for choices.

I hope this helped many other brides in making a good decision whilst finalising their vendors. Do pm me if you have any questions ;)
Happy planning ladies!

Hi Everyone!

Very excited with wedding planning - make sure you're enjoying the process :)
We're having solemnisation and dinner party but think it'll be great fun to bring in various cultural elements from each of our side (Indian + Dutch)

Where would you suggest for looking at lenghas in Singapore and India? If anyone has sourced from India, I would love to hear your recommendations for shops too!
Secondly, Roxanne was top on my list for MUA but she's not available, who would be top on your list for a natural glowwy look?

Any ideas on how we can incorporate some indian elements into our dinner party would be appreciated!

Hi all

I founds some info on this thread here and would just like to share my cost breakdown just so u guys have an idea. the prices are all based on march 2018
mine is a chindian wedding. so i had both a chinese banquet and indian ceremony. hence i had to keep the cost of both events low.

my chinese ceremony was at qian xi expo where the cost of per table is low.

for indian wedding here are the details

Photography: Alex Goh Photography
Alex was very on the ball and came highly recommended by a friend. During the wedding, he never stopped taking shots and captured so many wonderful moments of us, and some amongst our relatives for the chinese banquet. For the indian ceremony, it was smthing very new for him. Yet, he went to research abt it, and got all the important moments captured. It was a full morning till night event and he never took a break except when it was over. highly recommended!

Videography: Esther Tay Videography
Esther had alot of experience with indian weddings and could do the video well. we loved the video editing skills and there was not alot of posing required and she could still capture us nicely. She also followed us from morning till night and even though we could see that she was tired, she pushed on and got all the nice scenes!highly recommended!

MUA: mahes (about $700 for basic package)
very professional, friendly and reassuring. her rates were reasonable and because i did a simple henna just for my hands, she didnt charge me for henna. i had my own flowers for the kondai malai and she decorated my hair very well. Please do go for a trial though so that u can give ur MUA feedback. i went for Mahes trial and i had some issues with the lash and the caking of my makeup and she was able to take note and rectify it.

Wedding cards: bought from https://www.indianweddingcard.com/ ($307 for 200 cards)
cards under promotion were cheap, good quality items. the formatting gave me abit of headache cus we had to email the person ic several times to correct errors but they had quick replies. took about a month plus with the editing and all to delivery

Venue: Khalsa 2nd floor, $3800 + basic AV $450
doesnt include AV package so we were quite upset as we only wanted the basic sound system. other than that the event venue was great. clean toilets just out, easily accesible via lift. bar next to the restaurant on the 4th floor where mongul mahal is. parking was a problem in that area.

Food: Mongul Mahal, $18++ per pax.
had to choose for their appointed caterer, mongul mahal. i understand it is northern indian food. the lady was very accomodating and also matched the venue theme very well. We catered for 400 but had 500 guest. more than enough food to go around

Decor: Pandora Tomorrow II $2.8k inclusive of prayer items and floral package
Kris was good with the design and gave good suggestions. i wanted something simple for my main white backdrop with green vines hanging down and fairy lights. he spent some time looking for the design and was able to follow the picture i showed. On the day itself, i had someone standby at khalsa to check if anything was missing as i have heard of problems with set up for pandora tomorrow on the actual day itself. true enough, there was supposed to be a pair of banana tree at the entrance which was missing. please do assign someone to check venue during setup.

Priest: Hari Gurukkal
During prep, he spoke tamil to my cousin in law who was helping us but when we had queries he could address them in English. Very friendly and patient and reassuring cus he could see that we were worried that we were not familiar with the ceremony. On the day itself during the ceremony, he would conduct the ceremony and still explain to us in English. Very nice priest. highly recommended!

Wedding favours: APSN cookies
really tasty and it was also to help the charity. each small bag was about $2. pricey but for the taste and for the cause, worth it!
http://www.apsn.org.sg/apsn-initiatives/social-enterprise/

Wedding sarees: bought from tekka market, 2 sarees, bangles, tailoring = total cost to be about 1k.

hope this is useful. Cheers.

if anything please email me for queries, i rarely use this forum anymore. will try to help.

Hi everyone,

I had used this forum back when I was doing my wedding planning to get some tips, so thought I'll post about some of my experiences with vendors to give you a better idea

For photography/videography, I strongly recommend Colossal or Subra. Their photos and videos are amazing! They're also very easy to get along with.

For decor, I used soundtracx (wanted StyledStory, but since they didn't provide any lamps etc needed for the ceremony, had to go with an Indian decor company). They have some nice decor pieces, but they were very unprofessional and needed to be chased many many many times in order to get a response. The venue manager was also fedup with them. On the actual day, they forgot some important items which caused a delay in the ceremony! I've heard of friends that used Pandora and had good experiences with them.

For food, I selected Riverwalk Tandoor. They were excellent!

For MUA, I made the mistake of taking Bubbly (LooksStudio). She's the most obnoxious and arrogant MUA you'll ever find. It was a nightmare! As a bride you want someone that'll be professional, punctual and calming (or at least not stress-causing). She came an hour or more late, was very rude and absolutely didn't follow the looks we had discussed previously (had met her in person and sent her exact photos of the look I wanted). When I told her that I didn't want my lips to be so dark (not at all the lip colour I chose) and overdrawn, she told me that she's a highly sought after MUA with years of experience and that brides fight to get booked by her, and that I should let her do what she thinks is best if I want to look my best! *I much preferred how I looked on my ROM day (done by my bestie) and on my bangle ceremony (did it myself).* The saree tying skills by her assistant were also atrocious! I had a designer kanjeevarum saree that I had shown Bubbly beforehand and asked if she would be able to drape it neatly and tightly (I would have got someone else to drape the saree if she honestly said her assistant couldn't). She boasted about how they're very experienced and gave me false confidence. Had also asked if they need to pre-pleat/prepare it beforehand, she said no need because they have techniques to do it on the day. Well, it was a disaster. Her assistant was using a hair straightener to "iron" the pleats on the saree. And she made thick pleats and stuffed it in, resulting in a bunched up look. They also had the cheek to criticize the saree and somehow deflect their incompetence. In the end one of my aunties had to come and fix it cos I was close to tears at this point. I've heard other horror stories about Bubbly from other brides as well, even as recent as last week. I seriously would have never booked her if I heard these experiences from other brides beforehand. She may have been good before, but it looks like this lady has gotten too big headed for her own good and acts like she's doing brides a great favour. I would recommend Malini, Mahes, Shirin rei, Sungz and Fee Ee. They're successful and skilled MUAs that have a much better attitude. I really regret not booking Shirinrei. I was deciding between her and Bubbly for my wedding. Biggest regret.

Anyway hope my reviews will be helpful to other brides! I'm so glad my wedding is over :) I started off as a very chill bride and got crazy in the end having to deal with a nightmare MUA and decor provider lol. All the best to all you BTBs!

Anyway hope my reviews will be helpful to other brides! I'm so glad my wedding is over :) I started off as a very chill bride and got crazy in the end having to deal with a nightmare MUA and decor provider lol. All the best to all you BTBs!

Hi thechillbride, just came across your post and wished I had done my research for my bride prior to engaging the services of Bubbly from Looks Studio! I am so sorry to hear what happened to you and I really feel for you! We had a horrible experience with Bubbly just this weekend (Dec 2019) and it was much like how you have described. She denied the bride for any trial stating that she was fully packed (even though a trial is such a necessity!) Then she came 1.5hours late and her attitude towards the bride absolutely made my blood boil as the bridesmaid. My bride also had some request for make up and hairdo and Bubbly was so defensive about it. Not only that, during the second touch up my bride was in her white gown and bubbly just applied the make up without putting any protective layer!!! This resulted in a huge lipstick stain on the gown. Best thing was, when that happened, she blamed the bride and checked the bride's hands for stains!!!! It was such a horrendous experience, and it wasn't as if the make up was any good! The bride had touch up for herself after Bubbly left.

Bubbly's lack of professionalism was astounding. My personal MUA was in the room and she was shocked by Bubbly attitude and told me so privately. The lateness, rudeness and complete lack of professionalism has prompted me to speak up. I really pray and hope that other brides to be don't have to go through this terrible experience like what my best friend did. Please go for other MUAs to save yourself the stress. It's your wedding day, you don't deserve to get bossed around being rude to by your personal make up artist who you have paid for. And trust me, the make up she doesn't isn't worth putting up with it.

Hello everyone,

I am planning my Hindu temple wedding for 2023 June. However, I am having trouble booking dates for the temple as the priest explained that the panchagam for 2023 is not out yet.

As such I want to find out how did yall go about planning your dates and what were your time frames for booking the temple. Many thanks!

Hi Anyone here considering Alangkaar for their pre wedding photography? I've placed a $2K deposit but unfortunately some changes on my side and no refund. However someone can takeover the $2k deposit from me. Willing to let it go for $1800.
Email me at [email protected]. Or reply here. Thanks much!!! =)
