Hello ladies!
I'm new to this forum and am impressed with all the amazing contacts and information shared to plan a wedding. My wedding is on Feb 2017 and am still clueless as to how to go about planning it. It will be great if I could have that amazing spreadsheet which everyone is talking about so that I have an idea of how to go about. I will be planning my wedding alone so am a tad overwhelmed by this Herculean task. It will be great to have fellow btb support here.My email address:

Thank you so very much!

Hi All. I just got married about a week back and I have slightly more than 3 cartons of Johnie Walker Black Label whisky available left. Since they are in excess, I want to sell them off. Please pm me or email me at [email protected] for more details.

Hi to all the gorgeous BTBs,

I am new and having to see this forum filled with people sharing their information and helping out other fellow BTBs is so great!! :):)

Thus i have decided to reach out to all you beautiful souls for advise/recommendations for the preparation of my big day! I will be holding my wedding next year 2017 and I'm pretty messed up with all these preparations! I have actually "soft" booked Temasek Club for my wedding dinner reception but it is slightly above my budget. So if anyone has any recommendation for wedding reception venues, will very much appreciate if you ladies can share! :D

Looking for advise/recommendations on wedding reception venues, deco, emcee & dj.

My advance wishes to all the BTBs!!
God bless!!

Hi jacintha, I went to the BOWs Wedding road show today and there were vendors from quite a few places. I managed to nego with some of them for a decent price eg. Holiday Inn, Orchard Hotel, Orchid Country Club. I saw Temasek Club too but it was a lil too steep for my budget. U might wana go for the road show too.

Hello everyone and congrats!!!

At the last minute, my MIL wants me to wear a traditional Indian dress for my wedding reception. I wore a sari from Stylemart and it is gorgeous! But does anyone know where I can rent out those Indian wedding outfit? I don't exactly know what's it called even! Or would you girls suggest I just buy one if the price difference isn't a lot?

Thank you for taking time to write your experience, i believe that your information is very useful for the future brides as i find it useful for myself as well. :)

Hi all!

I agree completely with shasikala on booking sharmila as a MUA
Disadvantages: 1. lack of interpersonal skills regarding makeup choices (I suspect that she likes her clients to tell her that they leave the choice of makeup to her).
2.very difficult to get her to confirm anything at all. She is highly unresponsive. Sharmila states it is because she is very busy. BUT in my opinion, when you have made
a commitment you have to be responsive to a reasonable extent to the bride's queries, at the very least.
3. did not glue my eyelashes on properly and half of it was flapping about ( my guests noted this to my undying shame )
4. She caked on foundation and thickened my eyebrows so I looked like a wayang opera performer ( She is better with the fairer of skin: I noted this with reference to
her having done bridal makeup for myself, 2 of my tanned skinned family members and 1 of my darker skinned acquaintances).

Advantage: 1. She was punctual. ( At least, for my function ).
2. Matter of fact ( She was completely engrossed in doing my face: not distracted by anything at all ).
3. Makeup products are of superior quality; I did not break out Much after the function as I normally would have.

Go for her trial if you can afford it. I learnt this the really hard way. I did not and regret this so much. Her trial is nearly as ex as her actual day booking though!

I am looking to book everything from scratch for my temple wedding. Does anyone know of any good astrologer pls? May I also have the spreadsheet pls? please send to [email protected]. Thank you

Hey all!

Congratulations on your upcoming nuptials! Mine is end next year as well and I will be thankful if someone sends me the spreadsheet.

Aside from that, has anyone held their wedding/ attended a wedding at TPY/ Jurong East temple? Do they have a wedding hall?

Thanks in advance ladies! :)

Hi guys,

Having recently gotten married, I would strongly suggest Malini for hair and make-up, although I assume her prices may be steeper than others. She was committed from the beginning, willing to accomodate time change requests (which were feasible for her too of course), punctual, and efficient. No unncessary chit-chat, which is what every bride needs when rushing to get ready! And I just felt I could trust her judgment with minimal input from me. The end results (two nights) were great; I got heaps of compliments.

I also had a great experience with Pandora Wedding Services for my decor. They did a great job in producing the vision I had in mind.

I completely understand the stress of wedding planning so GOOD LUCK all bride-to-bes!

Dear Ladies,

Now that my wedding is over and I have settled most if not all things related, I thought a review of the services would be helpful to you who are in the planning stages.

Firstly, the venue I had my temple wedding was PGP Hall. It is highly popular and despite a 1.5 year advance booking I was not able to get the slot I wanted and had to settle. I would recommend making the booking as soon as you know your date if you are eyeing this temple.

My Reception was held at MBS and it was a great venue for 200 pax. While they don't specialise in south Indian cuisine, they are receptive to feedback and the guests loved the food.

The decor was by Pandora and they were truly amazing. I only mentioned the colours I desired and left it up to them to come up with the decor and they truly delivered. Was very happy working with Krish and his team as they were punctual and flexible with whatever conditions that were thrown to them.

For photog/video I hired two different companies. For my wedding day, Amore handled everything and they truly do live up to their name. The only regret I have is that I was unable to book them for my second date. Their full footage is akin to the quality of the highlights videos you see on their youtube channel and I love William's candid manner of communication. On my reception day, I hired StudioA and while they are extremely friendly and easy to work with, it has taken them half a year to deliver the products and their work pales in comparison. I do however think this is subjective on what style you would prefer.

For MUA I hired Bubbly from Lookstudio for all my events. For the 3 events that I had her, she tried her best to attempt different looks and vary the style of the makeup. She is very professional and I left it up to her to recommend what she thought was the best. My relatives were dolled up by Roxanne and they commented that she was good, fast, very approachable and punctual.

My henna was by Saheli and while I would say they were prompt, they do not stay with you and if you have itchy fingers like I do, the tendency to mess it up is very high. I am not sure if most artists leave once they are done, but I think that is something that would be good to look out for in an artist. We also hired henna artists for our friends and family from heavenly henna and they were efficient and drew beautiful designs in the time they had. They were so popular that we had to extend the timing.

Food for the wedding was by Gokul and the food from them always has had fantastic reviews. I have sampled the other places before and I would still say that Gokul's food stands out in terms of variety and quality. For my other functions I used Raja catering and it is a big favorite of my family because their food is notably spicier than other caterers.

If you are looking to buy your attires locally, I would advise being cautious about what the salespeople tell you. A very popular boutique (which begins with 's') told me that they had brought in the saree 'new' and that it was exclusive but when I watched other wedding videos, I noticed 3 brides wearing the exact same saree. While it's understandable that there will be reproductions made, I believe that you should be upfront about it esp when it is in that price range. That being said, I still adore some of the designs that they bring in. The best however would be to make a trip down to Chennai as honestly you will not be able to find products for the same quality and price. I also bought my jewelry sets there and they are more unique than using the ones that the MUA will be able to provide you with.

For wedding invites, which I know most of you ladies struggle with, I ordered online after going around looking for vendors in JB. To be honest, the ones in SG charge exorbitant rates and the ones in JB didn't have any designs to our liking. While it is a harrowing experience depending on an online vendor, the cards were delivered on a timely basis and there were several compliments on them.

One of the biggest headaches we faced were the emcees and deejays for our reception. We had contacted Just feel productions and we communicated with them, paid a deposit confirming emcees, deejay and 2 dance performances. $500 later and a lack on response from them, we had to cancel. They were apparently too busy and could not provide us with a meeting slot even 2 months before the event. It was truly disappointing and we went scrambling to fill this up. Thank heavens that Varman was available. He is a consummate professional and everyone loved his emceeing. I had overseas guests who were in love with the way he ran the show and it was easy communicating with him. One of the biggest things I look out for in a wedding emcee is that they should not be degrading towards the notion of marriage or women and that limited the pool in SG rather greatly. Varman however was perfect and I highly recommend hiring him for your events.

I think the biggest lesson from everything is that all will work out fine and there is no need to worry. If you have any questions, do feel free to ask :)

Hi everyone,

Congratulations to all the upcoming brides! My wedding will be in Nov 2017.

I've booked Sathia Seelan as my photographer and videographer for the day. I have no idea where to start for the rest of the wedding details.

Can I have the holy grail of spreadsheets as well? Would be a huge help. Many thanks in advance. My email add is [email protected]

Hi guys, I will be planning my wedding soon too. I'm quite new and have no idea where to book what. Would love if I could have the spreadsheet too. My email address is [email protected]
Would love if those that have already been through the whole process could share a review of all the services you guys used, so us newbies have more options to explore :) Also, Dawngalaxy, thank you so much for such a detailed review. Another thing guys, do any of you know a makeup artist who's good at doing natural looking makeup for darker skin girls? I feel a lot of the make up artists today tend to make girls look too dolled up instead of looking like better versions of themselves. And being a darker skinned girl, I also realize many make up artists make darker girls' faces too white-ish such that their hands and faces look two completely different colours. Really trying to avoid this. Would love for some MUA suggestions, preferably those that can take into consideration exactly what a bride has envisioned herself to look like on the actual day and willingly work with the bride.

Hello all!

My wedding is finally over and oh boy how glad I am! Here are my vendors that I had engaged and a quick review on them.

Food: Gokul, Food was amazing and all of our guests (including non-indians) praised it. They exceeded our expectations and even called us to ask how they could improve on their work. That was really thoughtful and good service. This is something that our indian vendors should start doing.

Deco: Pandora, Am happy with their work and felt that their work lifted the atmosphere. I had obtained many quotations and read reviews on them before settling with Pandora.

MUA: Agnes Sobha, a caring and patient MUA that you can ever ask for. I went for a few trials with other MUAs before settling with her. She has made up many dark skin brides so she was well-aware of the correct foundation tones that would match me. She made the effort to suggest a few looks and hairdos that were suitable for me which I really appreciated.

Photographer: Studio A, I liked the way they worked with a pleasant disposition but I don't think it would be fair for me to review them without receiving their photos.

Henna: Ela's Henna, Highly not recommended. They had sent another artist as the main artist wasn't able to make it. I was not informed of this until she arrived at my door step. The artist was also not aware of the designs that I had requested for. It was too late for me to turn down and she did such a bad job. Her 'natural' henna were those cones bought from Little India and the keylines of the henna were so thick. The artist assured that the henna would turn out fine but I have not seen such a bad bridal henna. It was such a disappointment and I think other artists could have done a better job.

Wedding Cards: theweddinginvitationcards, A vendor in North India, We requested for 1 hardcopy sample before the bulk printing (chargeable) which allowed us to check the final product before the rest were printed. Everyone simply loved the cards.

Door Gift: https://www.facebook.com/TraditionalIndianWeddingDoorGift as well as Taobao, a huge variety and you will be spoilt for choices.

I hope this helped many other brides in making a good decision whilst finalising their vendors. Do pm me if you have any questions ;)
Happy planning ladies!
