Indian wedding Services in Singapore

Well glad the pics help!

Anyway, I'm looking for something to wear for my ROM dinner. Originally wanted to wear my mom's sari but then she changed her mind and said i should buy something new. So I'm thinking maybe a new sari or lehenga...where can i get nice, simple ones without spending a fortune? I remember my friend spent $1400 on her lehenga from Stylemart..it was lovely though..but she wore it for 4 hours!!!

hi kayla

just wanted to ask u sthg? r u having ur banquet at the grand ballroom at the OCC or the other rooms? i understand u can cater from outside for the OCC rite? but u have to pay a surcharge?

Hi lisa,
Yes i am doing my banquet at the OCC ballroom...i initially tot of catering from outside but needed to pay a surcharge per head...so decided to stick to the in-house caterer...

BTW guys, heard that the GST is going to go up in a few months time...going to bring up the wedding costs ever more!

kayla: ohh ok! thanks gal.
happy.gif

notredame: i think u can try jinders along the selegie area? personally i feel stylemart stuff is just so overpriced. but they are v lovely though.

does anyone know of the contacts of any decorators that i can use to decorate my hse for my engagement? thanks!

Kayla - Wow! Great work there!! You must be so exhausted though. I know what you mean about making the best of your hubby's time here to do all the wedding planning but yet having to balance it with some quality time. It's really tough, but think of it this way, the fact that you're planning the wedding together is special so enjoy the process.

Holly - Is 19 ok with you? Sorry, but I made another appt on the 20th. I'll email you my hph number.

Notredame - Thanks for sharing your pics with us. Agree with Holly, I love what Sam did for your eyes. Absolutely love the smokey grey shades!! Btw, that blue that you're wearing in Sam's pictures, is that your ROM dress? It's a really good colour on you.

Lisa - Vansh has got buffet dinner menu starting from $45 a person and their buffet lunch prices start from $30 a person. As for My Secret Garden, not sure of max capacity, but I'll email you their package.

Hi Rany, i got your email, thanks.
i am alittle worried abt 19th cos i land on 18th early mrng and will definitly be tired and jetlagged. I'll be in the plane tomorrow so will not be able to check my mails. Tentatively, it'll be 19th and but will confirm with on 18th afternoon. Will either sms or call you.
You alright with that? I've emailed you my SG hp just in case u need to reach me.

Thanks Lisa I will go check out Jinder's...i did go there once b4, but i thought everything looked too elaborate for me.

Thanks Rany, no that dress is actually something i bought to wear to a black tie event....where he actually proposed. Heh..so i decided to wear that for the photoshoot. ..it is a great color....the stupid waitress almost ruined it when she spilled champagne on it...

Kayla - Tht's fabulous thinking. For the MUA to come over from JB, must u incur the cost on top of the MUA charges?

Lisa - Mi too lookin for decorators for my sis engagement. If I come across any, will update u.

hi ladies,

Reena - Congrats! Hope all went well for your wedding. Do share pics once you can
happy.gif

So who's next? Is there anyone tying the knot during Christmas?

Kayla - Glad to hear you got a lot done! Your decorator sounds really professional and capable. As much as it was tiring, i'm sure you had fun!

notredame - If you are looking to not spend too much on your outfit, how about looking at the stuff at Menu's? They are cheaper in comparison to Stylemart & Jinder's. If you are looking to wear a sari, you could also check out Arab street for beautiful sari fabrics
happy.gif
. They sure have a lot to choose from.

kismet - I had Khalsa printers do my engagement and ROM invites. I must say that they dont have a variety to choose from. And they are not cheap comparing the limited variety they carry. We had no other choice than to go with them cos we needed printing in punjabi and had limited time.

Thx for the suggestion Kismet. Called Khalsa printer ans they are very costly. Decided to give them a pass. Will go and check printer at Bras Basah.

hey apryl.. sorry, didn't know their costs. According to mum they are really good printers in JB, beside the sikh gurdwara.. but it would be better if you knew specificly where to go, which i don;t. Sorry.

Hope all goes well..

Just had a friends wedding this weekend and today was the reception. One by one each friend of mine is tying the knot, mixed feelings. And esp at this wedding, it really started to dwell on me the fact that I'm getting married...sigh

Hi Ladies,
HOpe u all are fine...just sent off my hubby at the airport this afternoon...Quite sad lah! Now i have to manage alone...But i am very glad that now my hubby has some idea of how weddings are done in SIngapore...just realised that we have so many cultural differences. this trip was really an eye-opener for him! BTW he has already purchased our wedding cards from india from a company called Menaka Cards...i was very happy when i saw the scanned copy of the card. Simple and modern-looking. They have a website too where u can order online. Going to have 2 slips inside...one for the wedding and another for the reception. This will cut down costs and will be easier to manage. Went to choose the pictures from our Indian Photoshoot yesterday...think i looked better in the western gowns...hehehe...Nevertheless, we purchased more photos than we initially planned too...Ladies, better set aside some part of your photoshoot budget for cases where u want to purchase more pictures...Also, went to meet the recognised decorator of the Sri Mariamman Temple. even though, much decor cant be done in the mandapam, the estimated invoice came up to $2000...thats only for simple manavarai decor with artificial garlands, arch decorated with fresh flowers, guest table decor, round tables & chairs(with seat covers). So i am looking for another decorator for the wedding...

Hi Sphire,
Nice work with the table...by looking at it, i realise that i am the next one in line after PB...Yeeks!!!!! i have another 13 or so weeks b4 my wedding...anyway gal, the MUA costs $300 including the transportation costs...

Kayla - Ur pics must be gorgeous. $2000 for deco? I heard for Tank Rd Temple is also $2000 for deco and $3000 for the venue. Wonder if cn bring own decorators to Tank Rd temple too.
Looks like $300 is standard. Wht is this menaka cards webby?

Hi Sphire,
www.menakacard.com
Check out the website...heard that they are one of the leading card printers in chennai at the moment. btw, the decorator i met is the also the recognised decorator for the Tank Rd temple. i saw the pictures...I must the decor was quite nice cos the temple management allows it customers to fully decorate the mandapam with minimum restrictions...that is not the case for where i am holding my wedding...Ya u can bring in your own decorators but they have to talk to the temple management.

Went to Ayer Hitam in Msia this afternoon...bought gift bags and decorative items for my bangle ceremony...but couldnt find nice wedding favors...

Hey guys,

Just wanted to drop in with a little hello and all good wishes for the season and the new year. Will be away until 9th Jan next year. So until then, good luck with the planning, be good, but not too good. ;) Cheers!

hi ladies! finally i found a site where indian brides to be lurk! weeeeee! My traditional wedding is on the 3rd of June 07 and i have not done anything!! feeling stressed already and i dont know where to start. I went to menaka's for a quote last week and thats abt all that i have done so far *sobz* my wedding is taking place at tank rd temple so i really need recommendations for great veGetarian food. i would love to see some pics of your make ups for ROM and customary. Really hope you gals can help me out here *fingers crossed*

PS: Holly, i registered with this forum so that i can have a look at your pics, keke.. hope you wudnt mind letting me have a glimpse ..thankz dear!

HI Priya... welcome on board.
My sis's engagement is jus a day after urs..kekkeke
Menaka is already booked rite? Many rec Shanti (stylemart). U cn actually take a look at her portfolio in Stylemart itself. I hvnt done any trial with her, but already confirmed her for both my banquet and engagement.
For food, I'm goin to table serve at the temple with some cater who is actually relatives. U could try Ananda Bavaans. Their food is good.

Hey there ladies . Hope that everyone had a great weekend. Anyway i was slogging away @ work ..
happy.gif

Thanks Holly re: Videographer infor

I agree that Sam's N Shanti's makeup look natural .

I havent been doing much .
Managed to get Edmund for Photography. Reasonable Price . Might be meeting him on 4th Jan .

Hi Priya,
I am also looking for good vegetarian food caterers...been to Ananda Bhavan to get their quotation...quite pricey. u can go down to see their menu and get their quote. One decorator recommended Komala's...cos their charges are lower for a menu with 13 items...not sure what they are...plus they give complimentary Laddus...it seems the manager is out of town until the 15th of Jan.I am going down there next week. will let u know how it goes ok...

Don worry abt not having anything done...Actually, most of the confirmations with the wedding vendors are done 6 months b4 the AD. Take care!

hey priya, sure will share my pics with you.
drop your email address here and will send them to you.

Hey everyone, Have a very happy new year!!

hi ladies! tnkx for your replies..

Sphire: i called shanti from stylemart and her charges for trial are 80 buckaroos
sad.gif
Kinda ex huh?
sad.gif
i noe i noe, i'm a stingy piggy
happy.gif
anyway will be going down to look at her portfolio first and then take things from there..

Kayla: I didnt get good reviews from those who tried at Komala's..so i'm steering away from them :x how much were you quoted per head at anandha bhavan's and for how many items? Haiz.. *wailz* Stress level going up! I got a quote from a lady called janelle from Sonique Creations (if i m not wrong) and it was pretty reasonable..will be going down to have a look at her past works and for trial make-up..hopefully it turns out good *Finers double crossed*

Holly: Thankz gal! its [email protected]

Priya - Shanti quoted mi $70. But since i've confirmed her before even trying her, trial is inclusive to package. Its a risk.
Komala's food taste varies at different weddings. Some taste good, some not so good.

Hi Gals, back after a long absence..Seasons greetings to everyone...

Hi Priya - welcome..I just saw Susiee a bit earlier, think Kayla is using her. Her trial is $40. She seems quite ok. Guess the others are Shanthi (stylemart) and Menaka...

Anyone considering Gokul for food? Its next to Komalas in Upper Dickson Rd..food tastes bit different from usual..

Sphire, also met up with Paneer. He seems not bad. Kayla - can i check how much he's quoted u? We'll probably decide after meeting william saravenan..

Btw gals..i had such a bad experience at Z'wedding..tried on like 10-12 gowns, still nothing was perfect...Really regret signing up for BS package..Sigh..Ok enough venting..

Just catching up previous postings...Notredame, nice pics. I kinda like Sam's works more....Are you going with him for temple wedding?

Hey Chick - Great to hear from u again. Greetings to u too.
Hv spoken to Paneer before. But he charges as per roll and find it costly. I thot u hv given up on William? I'm considering Naseer that Sarah used. One of my close friend had him for her aragethram. She said he was wonderful. Spoken to him over phone, find that I cn click with him pretty well. He charges flat rate like Edmund. Very reasonable. Gonna meet him next yr to book him for my sis engagement. If pics turn out great, will also book him for my engagement and wedding. If interested, cn mail u his contact.

Z'Wedding do hv great gowns rite? Almost signed with them during a bridal show. FH din like the lady who spoke to us.. so din. Go for 2nd round to try. I also tried abt 10gowns at YC n finally decided to MTM. Check with Z'Wed if they cld make minor amendments to their gown to give the look u want. I'm sure they would hv a gown that u will definately love. Cn u take pic? If cn, post it here.. we'll help u decide...kekeeke. So KPO rite?

hey sphire..can send me paneer's number please? [email protected]. we sort of gave up on william, but we thought of considering him cos we cant find anyone else..hehe..btw, heard he's turning full-time pro, so william's charges may go up as well..

No, not KPO at all..Sorry dun have pics cos they din allow us to take any..but blur me shld have taken some while i was changing, din think abt it..Find z-wedding v rigid..They kept telling me i was too tall etc which is crap..anyways i went down twice to select..and they told me if i want to re-select again got to pay, so under pressure! Eventually settled for bustier, 6 panel one..not great. I love the lace ones...but couldnt find anything that was conservative enough for the church wedding..So stuck with smthg that i'm not 100% satisfied with..How about yours? Have you been to try your MTM?

Hi Chick,
I went thru Susiee to hire Paneer...So i am being charged $70 per roll...think if u go directly to him, then he should charge u maybe abt $65...$60/per roll is mostly for small events like birthday. Have u seen his work?
I saw William Saravanan's work as well...the only difference bet him and paneer is that they use different backdrops...other than that, its almost the same. Btw Paneer's No is 81883437...U know Paneer asked me during my photoshoot whether i recommended any frens from Singapore Brides...i was speechless! Even said someone named Saravanan called him up...Chick, can u provide me with more info abt Gokul? Havent heard of them?

Hi Priya,
Starters- 2 items
Main Course- 7 items + Appam
Dessert
Drinks
I was quoted $13/head...Plus the buffet area will not be decorated...$30++ for each service person. Komala's allows for food-tasting b4 u confirm. However, Ananda Bhavan doesnt allow food-tasting until 15 days b4 the wedding. Quite Rigid i must say...

Chick - Hv sent u Naseer's contact.
I was not allowed to take pics too... cldnt take in changing room too as the coordinator was helping mi with the changes. U got to pay again? Thats really terrible. Too tall??? Really crap! Wonder if they design gowns for dwarfs. I'm sure their models are tall too. Cn u take a pic at ur next fitting? Not sure wht u meant by 6 panel.. but bustier ones are the safest choice now. I'm sure u'll look magnificent. If I din MTM, I would also choose a bustier one.

Hvnt try out my gown. Since my date is shifted, so no hurry. Told yvonne to take her time. Most prob will call her in mid Jan or Feb.

Hi Sphire,
Can i have Naseer's contact as well? Pls email me at [email protected]
Thanks dear...BTW, does he or even William Saravanan do VG? cos the VG recommended by Susiee was lousy...Paneer doesnt do VG.

Ladies,
Do u strongly recommend any other VGs? Thanks alot!

hi gals...am back after a long break as well...strongly recommend lighted pixels for video...he did my friends rom and the MTV video was fantastic and he captured the mood and ambience of the event so well...
based on what i hear from my frens , those who took chinese vgs enjoyed the event and the video so much more bcos there is none of this forced posing and bright lights that i had to endure

Elo ladies....

My wedding is 4 weeks away ,and things seem along way off. kayla - you are really very on. You have almost done everything... shame on me.

Chick,
I also heard about Gokul thru an aunt and actually considering them for my wedding. Doing my food tasting in jan and since my wedding in Feb - I can keep you posted on how good it really was.

Kayla - Paneer recommended me a VG = this guy who does work in media. II saw his works and its not too bad.

INfinite - do you know how much lighted pixels charge?

Holly & Notre dame ,
can you send me your pics - i might jsut change my MUA . [email protected]

thanks alot...

i still have so much to do...4 weeks more...tum tum tum..

Chick77, Thanks. I'm Catholic so I have a church wedding. I'll be using Sam for my ROM though.

Jini, scroll up and click the link to my photos to see Sam's work. If you want him, esp on weekends, book early cos he's extremely popular.

Does anyone know of a good Indian restaurant where i can get the whole place to myself for a party of 60 ppl...without costing a bomb? My friend recommended Moghul Mahal but she doesnt know how expensive it is.

Hi Jini,
Paneer also recommended the mediacorp guy for VG but he doesnt deliver on time...he has delayed many couples' video...up to one yr i heard...i need my Video and photos in one week...cos i would leave for UK one week after my wedding. i need my Video and photos to show my hubby's side as well...

Went to meet my event co-ordinator just now...was telling me some of the worse-case scenarios like the bhangra group not coming on time etc...must make allowances for all that in the event schedule.

Hi Infinite,
I am also interested to find out more abt lighted pixels' charges...

Hi Sphire..thanks for the contact and also the reassurance abt the gown..will take a pic next time round..

Just called the Gokul owner, realised she's my ex-classmate..hehe..Anyway her name's Lakshmi, contact is 92472796. She's gonna email me her packages, will send it out to u gals if interested. Jini - cool, do keep us posted on how the food tasting goes..Kayla - the restaurant is next to the Komalas Upper Dickson outlet..

Kayla - thanks for the info bt Paneer anyway, he quoted us $70/per roll as well. Btw, think the saravenan that Paneer was talking bt is my FH..hehe..when we met Paneer yesterday, he told us the mediacorp VG still owes some couples their Videos, so he wont strongly recommend him..

Notredame - how about MangoTree at ECP? Its a bit casual though..or there's the Devagi restaurant at Thomson..havent tried food there..Do you have any preference for location or type of food?

Kayla - Hey lady.. mi forgot to bring the PG contact today. Will pass u tomolo together with a VG contact.

Chick - Cld I hv a copy of the package? thanks.

hi again

Notre dame,
Wow, you are very pretty... : - )
Restaurant - you can try moghul - Novotel. I had my ROM lunch there and the food and ambience was very good. Most of them enjoyed the food..It was about $17 buffet.Speak to the owner manjit. She is very nice. The other option is riverwalk tandoor - thats about $16 for buffet.

Kayla,
who is your event co-ordinator.is he for the temple wedding? Since we are having our weddings in the same location, we might bargain for a better price if i use them too...let me know as I am still sourcing for one...

Chick,
When I met Lakshmi, she seemed very pre occupied and wasnt really attentive to what I was saying. Needs to work on PR skills. Nevertheless, I have never tried their food before so its a huge risk. Food tasting will always be good anywhere we go - gotta be right! I am thinking of walking in to their buffet and trying it. that would give me an idea of whats the food like.but more or less, i thought of taking them . Prices are reasonable and I prefer to give the biz to them than the big giants..

Hehe thanks Jini! I actually went down to Moghul Mahal today and spoke to Manjit cos my friend said she was good. She was really nice. But my concern is that the place is rather longish, with all those pillars and faux walls, cuts people off. How did you have your ROM lunch? Did you use the private room?

Hi Jini,
I am sourcing out the decorator for the temple wedding...Checked out the recognised decorator for the temple...today, i met up with a Malay decorator for my reception...thinking of using them for my wedding and bangle ceremony as well...must wait until tmr for their quotation dear...what do u think of Mayura Catering's decorations? I was thinking of Mangalam wedding services cos they have nice traditional statues...i will check out with them and share the details with u ok...

hi kayla

i had a fren who used mayura catering for her decor at the tank road temple. it was quite nice. the food was rather good too. i have never seen mangalam's decorations tho. are they nice? can share with me the details too? thanks alot!

hey gals

wanted to ask you guys ur opinion. do u think sari colours matter if it is a morning or evening temple wedding? some frens of mine feel that morning wedding you shd go for something lighter, whereas evening weddings you can go for sthg more "eveningish". haha.. sorry for my pathetic vocab. coudnt find an appropriate word. wat do u guys think? like maroon and gold, is it ok for a morning affair?
