Indian wedding Services in Singapore

Rany.. it depends with the jobs though, if the need is immediate, it could be faster but most often the process takes between 2 - 4 months. deff longer than here.. and yes i do think swan lum bazaar is open every nite, just check with the reception at your hotel, they should know these things. I got some really nice art effects from there..

Hey SK, welcome back and wow! am so excited for you. Everything sounds amazing. you must be really excited abt seeing the final work once its completed. Now i'm itching to do my wedding shopping. March can't come fast enough. Thanks for all the suggestions etc, will deff make a note of them esp since I plan on going there in March. Cheers babe...

hi sk...i bought those really nice silk ones from metro also thinking that my house would be ready in time too...but now that it isnt...in laws have taken it to be their 'responsibility' to make sure that FH's room is 'nicely' decorated...and knowing their tastes im certainly not looking forward to seeing the deco in the room...and we have to bear with all this because its not our house...

kismet - Yup. I hope the outfits turn out like i want them to. Its really exciting shopping there. Karol Bagh is not a pleasant market in general but once you enter the stores, its a whole different story. I've got the main outfits done but am now impatiently waiting to get the remaining stuff come next year. Can't wait!! If there's any help you need, just give me a holler.

Infinite - Yes! The nice silk once from Metro! Can't you use one of those for your wedding nite etc? Cant you give suggestions on how the room should be decorated? What to they plan to use? Tinsel, flowers etc?

infinite - my dear girl, i'm so sorry to hear of all the trouble and sadness you are going through. Cheer up, and keep yourself in high spirits. Why dun u and FH go for a couple spa session and loosen up? As for the room deco, I have an idea. Why dun the girls and I come over and do it up for you? I'm sure you can tell ur MIL that it's a wedding present from your close gfs?? I can arrange for it if you want and I promise it won't be out of a tamil movie. I'll use lots of organza cloth and fresh roses w candle stands.

it's nice of them to want to decorate the bedroom for you cos after all, they are right. Pple will comment if the nuptial room is w/o deco. But I also understand your predicament where they will decorate a la tamil padam which won't suit ur tastes. gimme a call @ 91148700 and i'll do it up for you nicely. You can also pass me ur silk sheets and i'll play with the color scheme. Seriously girl, I hate seeing you so upset before your wedding. It's e most impt day of our lives and I want to see a happy bride this Sunday.

Just remember how much FH loves you and how he'd want you to be happy marrying him.

For me, my MIL is super competitive with my family and since we're gonna really do up my house, she's also wanting to hire pple to decorate her place. watever, i dun care.

Sphire - Could you be a darling and update my details on ur table too
happy.gif

my wedding dinner is on 01/01/07 @ orchid country club grand ballroom. my PG is ZAM photography and VG is yet to be confirmed. My MUA is Lyn from MediaCorp. I've signed up with French Bridal. Thank you so much
happy.gif

hey pb thanks for the offer...im touched...but both of us just decided to bear with it for that one day...and i dont want in-laws to think something if we bring others to decorate cos they have already planned it out...never mind...less than 1 week and i'll be free! see u sunday gal...and dont worry i'll be a happy bride cos it will be all over on that day
happy.gif

sk: we want to save those nice ones for our new house and for our new bed...dont want to use it now itself...

Wow, even i'm touched, PB i'll let u know if i need some decor 'wink wink'.

Infinite, dun worry it'll be a great wedding plus ur in-laws will wanna make sure the room looks fantastic since ppl r gonna comment. Be happy and keep smiling. Remember just take a back sit as of immediate...relax and if possible go for the couple spa thingy tat's been suggested. Trust me it's gonna help heaps.

Have a great week relaxing.........get excited.....and most imptly be mentally prepared for things to go a tiny winny bit off planning. It's all gonna be WONDERFUL.

Hey gals, anyone tried Saheli or went for trials oredi. Plus anyone convinced who is the best for henna. I'd love to get reviews. Dun wanna go searching i'm trusting u all to gimme the best option.

SK ur outfit $1200....sounds really awesome. Ok just one more question, ur evening wear is $600...i think i liike the costing for this one...cld work in tat budget. Wat shld i look out for, or wat shld i tell them. I'm worried i might not get such a good bargain since i am totally clueless...always felt i've been cheated cos i look too foreign for the trades therefore the prices just shoot up when i try to speak Hindi. Keeping hush doesnt work for me either.

Kismet, any luck with Saheli make-up, have u gone for a trial or followed up on it. As well as the henna artist you mention who was super quick.

Hey ladies... super effective forum. Gone for a day... got lots to read..kekekeke

SK - kewl ger. U really geared up the shopping. Happy for u.

infinite - So sorry to hear abt the room deco. Eee... i wldnt want my room to look like tamil movie scene. Tell ur ILs how much u appreciate their effort and don want them to spend so much. Organza and candles would be great. Probably u could provide these items.Just to balance the outlook, u could tell them to add the organza and candles. I'm always playing politics with MIL to get things done. It works..kekekke

BP - Can I engage ur service too...kekeke. Will update ur info, ger.

WOW PB.....that's so touching n sweet of u.....my jaw almost dropped at ur offer.....

didn't realise u going to haf a new years' day wedding....u must haf made all the planning, bookings way way in advance to pull it off......

sphire - good strategy with FMIL....i never tot i wld haf any trouble with my FMIL (i treat her better than how i treat my own mum actually....SAD but true) but recently she's also begun to get on me little by little......but then again....i m fast turning into a super irritable madwoman given all the things to do....

Infinite....hang in there....i know how u must be feeling......and U R NOT alone.....its time to get really giddy with the excitement n just go with the flow....easier said than done....but tats the best attitude to keep the smile on...think back n remember how it all started when u first met ur FH.....

SK - that's an impressive shopping trip....esp. if u did it all alone without help of family/frens/relatives......amazing how u managed to pick out what u really liked n wanted from sucha wide selection.....me - going into stylemart here n already lost for choice n dunno where to start....so what u have achieved is a real feat in my eyes.....

apryl - i was thinking of doing saheli's until shanthi (MUA) gave me another henna contact who i haven't contacted yet ...... its on my list on immed next to do's - my henna 'ceremony' on 15 dec.....

BUT for now, first things first....need to send out the invites....what's a wedding without guests huh....hehehheh......

Apryl - Well, its best if you have someone from Delhi accompany you when you go shopping. However most of the reputed boutiques in Karol Bagh like Frontier Bazaar and Vivah, have the price tags attached to the garments so you dont have to worry that you are being quoted a higher price because you are a foreigner. Its just a matter of how good you are at bargaining. I was lucky that the lady with me was very good at bargaining and managed to get me good discounts. You could also just tell them your budget and get them to show you items within that price range and then work your way up if you are looking for more elaborate stuff. Just make sure you bargain hard to get a better price once you decide on a particular outfit. Shops like Frontier Bazaar have alot of foreign customers from all over the world so you dont have to worry about being cheated.

Just to let you ladies know. I briefly met up with the MUA Yasmin i was talking about, before i flew to Delhi. I loved her ideas and will go for a trial with her once i collect my outfits early next year. She makes the bride dress up in the actual day outfit so that the bride knows exactly what she will look like. She does great henna too. Will keep you ladies posted.

Thanks Reena :p....It wasn't easy but i was on a mission that day and was glad i made that trip..There's just so much more variety in Delhi and prices are competitive. What i found great was shopping for my wedding chura (bangles). The variety thats now available is just amazing. Traditionally Punjabi brides wear red and ivory bangles. But now they are more elaborate with crystals and coloured stones. I picked up mine in wine red and shell (as ivory is now banned) studded with diamonte and red stones. Its just beautiful. Its being custom made too so i'll pick it up in Jan. I also picked up kalirey (things that hang from the bangles, tied to the hands)and they are the cutest things i've seen. I also picked up the dots to wear above the eyebrows...I remember us having discussions on this and i must say the variey available is just amazing..I bought a couple of designs as i just couldn't settle for only one. I'll decide on which one to use once the wedding draws closer :p

sk - u mean it was all in a DAY's work???? really productive.....wld be great if u can post some pics of the churas and kalireys when u get them......i m getting excited even by reading abt them.....

Reena - Yup, it was all done in a day because i was there for work and could only spare that one Sunday to do this. For those who intend to go to India for shopping, I recommend making a list of things that you need to purchase. Spend the first day looking for your wedding outfits as these take the longest time to choose and tailor. (If you are custom making your outfit, like my reception one, from scratch, note that it may take up to 30-45 days for it to be ready. Be prepared to make a second trip to India if you are doing this. If you are buying material that just needs to be stitched, this takes anywhere between 7-10 days.)
Many brides-to-be take a couple of days just for purchsing the wedding outfits as they aren't sure of which places to go to and need to check out a few stores before deciding. It made things easier for me that i did my research before i left and started with the place that came highly recommended, Frontier Bazaar. I loved the stuff there and when i visited the other stores, i was not at all disappointed with the choice i made with purchasing the main outfits from Frontier. Once i settle my wedding and reception outfits, i moved on to finding my sangeet lehenga and some other outfits for my trousseau. As i'm not getting more than 9 or 11 outfits in total, it was easy. I picked up 3 suits and 2 sarees this trip. I chose stuff that was elegant and wouldnt go out of style. Many people make the mistake of buying stuff that is 'in' but these designs may not last long in the sense that the trend changes after a while...I may pick up more clothes on my next trip. The next on my list was my chura and accessories. I only managed to order the chura and get the kalireys. I didnt shop for jewellery as i'd like to have my clothes with me when i get them so that i'm sure they match well. So i'm saving this for next time.

Hi Ladies,
My FH is coming down tmr and i have a long list of things-to-do before he leaves...So i would be busy for the next 2 weeks...Gotta get the 2 photoshoots done, Tailor our wedding outfits, Print the invitations, Decide on the decor etc and of course do lots of shopping for his and my family...Hopefully i can get these things done properly...Will tell u all about it in 2-3 weeks time ok..take care ladies! Advance Congrats to Infinite & Reena...!

hey gals thanks for all the encouragement...and PB u have become a sought after wedding night decorator already
happy.gif
btw for those who dont know pb, mabel and i are all sec sch frens...

infinite - its nice to c sec sch frens gathering here. kekkeke. Relax lady. Best wishes for ur wedding.

Kayla - Wow.. that really lots of work to be done. Jus take time to also relax, dear.

Hey girls! Just been scrolling up and down the screen for all the updates.

Kismet - Thanks, will surely get tips from the hotel reception desk.

SK - Wow!! Superrrrb progress girl!! And all in a day. It does look like you know what look you have in mind and what colours you're going for. I wish I was like you. If it were me, I'd have spent 2 hours just trying to figure out what type of dots and what colours I want. And I probably would need a friend along to help me decide too. Heh! Btw, have you decided on a bridal boutique (BS)?

Infinite - Hang in there, girl. Just a couple of days more. It'll all be over soon. And you can fly off and be with your FH all ALONE. It might only be for a few days but there'll be no parents, no MIL, no one!!!
happy.gif
Btw, re. the bed decor, maybe you can tell your FH to hint to his parents what in these days and what he'd like his room to be decked out with. Afterall, it is HIS room.

Hey, speaking of Mabel, has anyone heard how she's doing lately?? I hope she's OK juggling a new school, new ctry and that distance betw hubby and her.

Kayla - If you're reading this, good luck with the preps. See you in 2-3 weeks.

Reena - Have you had your trial with Shanti yet? What's the verdict?

hi ladies,

Infinite - All the best for your big day!! I'm sure everything will run smoothly at the wedding and you'll look stunning! Enjoy every moment
happy.gif

Kayla - Hope you are having fun even though you've got loads to do!

Rany - I bought a few designs for the dots since i couldn't decide too :p. Have yet to start with the bridal boutique. Wanted to check out French Bridal since i've seen an album of theirs on an indian couple.

Pb - Whats your package with French Bridal like? Care to share? [email protected]. Thanks.

Sphire/Kismet - Hope all's well at your end. How are things coming along?

Infinite - When I saw you're msg, I just had to smile. First time, I'm seeing a bride to be posting a msg just minutes before any ceremony. ;) Seriously though, advance congrats on your big day. You must be so relieved that it's finally here but do remember to smile, girl.
happy.gif

SK - Yep, heard the gowns at French Bridal are very classic. Good choice.

Btw, just realised because of immigration issues, we need to have our ROM earlier. Much much earlier, like January!! So I'm now trying to fix up a place where we can do it, get a JP, efile with ROM, and my fiance needs to confirm get a flight here. And all this we have to do before I take my holiday to Perth. Yikes!!! Was thinking of some of the restaurants in Sentosa, or somewhere in the Botanic Gardens (Bandstand, Halia or the Orchid Gardens). Anyone has any other suggestions for a nice beach/garden feel??

Hey SK, things are all messed up on myside.. on one hand my granda's condition is worsening day by day and even though the doctors insist that he should be hospitalised to be treated, my grandad refuses to go and his condition worses every time we admit him. so the entire family's not in the mood to meet up with my inlaws to plan or even fix the date.. plus my FH hasn't secured a job in melbourne yet so untill he does, we can't get married.. just soo many things standing in our way. I'm worried abt my grandad and on the other hand, am tired of being apart from my FH too.. so its all a mess..

tentatively, if all goes well.. wedding dates are either 15th of 22nd of july and my trip to india for shopping is for march. so lets see eh.

but am really glad for you. amazed at how much you got done in such a short time! respect! (and i thot i was a speed shopper!)even i'm not planning to get the usual 35 punjabi suits for my trousseau, cutting it down to 11 or 15 esp because i dont plan on being in singapore so i won't really have the opportunities to use them in aussie...

what are you planning on jewellery. my mum's freaking out at the price of goal, goal prices have doubled since my sisters wedding.. lol.

and Rany, really sorry i've not been able to get the number from my friend for the mehndi lady. will try to push her for it. am meeting her soon, so will ask her again. as for saheli, haven't really had the time, was planning on going for the trial in dec but with my grandads health and my work load, haven't gotten to it. sorry..a friend of mine had her for mehndi for her wedding, and she was very very happy and i had liked her work too..

also i'm in the same boat as u abt ROM, want to try to do mine asap so that i can put my application through for PR that way when i get there, don't have to waste time waiting for the process to happen and can just start looking for a job asap...

What abt Giraffe at the Istana park? i really like their second floor.. or other wise there this reallly nice restaurant called Thai 1869 (or something like that) at DBS arts house.. very very pretty..

Infinite.. all the best, can't wait to hear abt your experience....

hi gals...today is the day of the thaali prayers and so entire family has set off to FH house and i'm alone at home reflecting...just sunk into me that life is gonna be so different from tomorrow onwards...the prelude to the wedding can just take your mind off things like that...on one hand i'm so glad to be living together with my FH and on the other just feel so sad to be away from my younger sister for so long (she already started crying buckets yest
sad.gif
and made me cry as well) anyway this is it...am looking forward to tom and will let u know how it went...have a great weekend gals...

Hey Rany..How about Asian Civilisation Museum, Rochester Park or even some of the hotel poolside/garden (Amara, Godowood, Grand Plaza ParkRoyal, Traders, etc)..The package for hotels is quite reasonable ~ about 1K for 30 guests...

Kismet..hang in there..it prob seems like there's 2 much 2 handle right now but i'm sure things will work out when the time comes..It always does..Blind faith :-)

Infinite...u r probably havin yr ceremony now..Good luck, keep us posted. Am sure u'll be able to see yr sis often :-) That's my worry as well actually, that m gonna get emotional abt leavin my family..hehe..but its really up to us how we manage both husband and family i guess..

Oh my... cing lots of detours here.

infinite - kewl.. the bride is an net-babe...kekeke. Hope everything went well. Wishing u all well for the future, ger.

SK - French bridal looks good. Go check it out.
My side is shining a little. My engagement is fixed for the 8th Sept 07.. original banquet date. So happens tht its the same date of my ILs' engagement. Today goin down Menaka to book makeup for my sis engagement, mine and her wedding. If possible also my wedding. C if Menaka could quote a package price. Other than that,.. everything else is at a stand still.

Rany - Jan is such a short period to go. Did u check out fort canning? y not at sentosa beach itself or Botanic gardens? Happening. Wanted mine at the beach but FH wasnt in favor.

Kismet - Hang in there lady. Hope ur grand is well. Give ur parents some time. Things will happen as it shd. Hv faith, dear. Or probably u and FH could try to work out something for ur ROM.

Dear Ladies - still recovering from infinite's wedding last nite
happy.gif
she looked every bit the beautiful bride, her sari was gorgeous, make up was immaculate and she was simply stunning! turns out i noe her MIL from work...lol... tt was funny...
She must be sleeping soundly right now and looking forward to her honeymoon. As she said, we go back a long way from sec school and even though mabel and i went overseas it was really nice to be reunited on this forum...
As for wedding night decoration, no worries i'll be more than glad to help, but after Jan pls
happy.gif
hehehehe.. why all of you so touched one? making me shy la...i mean frens do this sorta thing for each other. my frens came over the nite of my engagement to help with the gifts n deco and they went to decorate my ballroom the next day. i was so touched by their efforts.

i really like some of the malay decorators who use lots of organza and fresh flowers to do up the bridal room. I'll be spending the nite at orchid country club bridal suite and the following day at his house. his mum has KINDLY (after lots of argument) agreed to decorate the room for us. I bought my wedding bed-set last weekend and really good mattress. the cow (MIL) says i cannot bring it with me when I move out but since i paid for it with my own money, screw her, i'm taking it with me. i really like the bedset i bought..

now tt infinite's wedding is over, it suddenly dawned on my tt mine's exactly 4 weeks away! yikes! and i haven't lost weight
sad.gif
this weekend i'll be making a short trip to KL to buy some costume jewellery and give out invites. i went to a few shops here but the selection sucks. would you girls recommend any good shops in little india? i'm also looking for a very good tailor to alter my lengha as it's a little big. stylemart won't take in clothes tt are not theirs. would jinders? or do you ladies noe any good tailor who can sew heavy outfits? need a very good tailor cos the material is heavily studded with beads.

most of my things are done already but its tying up the loose ends tt's driving me crazy. i have yet to buy my pattu sari. saw a few in haniffa's tt i like but i have yet to fall in love with any and i refuse to buy something i dun fall in love with. need to book mani n pedi sessions as well b4 the wedding.

SK - who's the MUA yasmin you mentioned? is she good? to be honest, i like shanti's makeup but she's really charging me a bomb. I like the mediacorp MUA too but i dun think she's very good at tying sari. so i'm kinda at a loss now. sigh.
glad u liked what u bought in delhi. i told u the selection's fantastic! just the riots have been a dampener. hey i went to frontier bazaar too but they were so expensive! do they allow u to bargain? i didn't noe tt. i tot it was fixed price so i walked out. i tot the prices were ridiculous....but the stuff there was simply gorgeous.

kismet i can imagine how hard it must be to be in this limbo situation.....chin up n think positive okie.....hope 2 hear some good news soon....

rany, WHOW.....ur world must have turned topsy turvy in excitement n mad rush......the gals haf come up with most of the places i can think of.....the only other tip i could provide perhaps, will be 2 adopt a systematic approach as this will help a great deal since u r rushed for time...seriously, i swear by this n it has cetainly helped me keep track.....i can share my list of 'things to do & timelines' if you want.....lemme know...

my trial with shanthi went well i suppose....she did a very rough one which pretty much covered the basics,.....tho she did say tat on the actual day it will be more thicker coverage n heavier.....i really got no time 2 consider other options so am sticking with her....her style is very simple n can c tat she pretty much prefers to left to her own devices n style...n she did haf some good suggestions on hairstyles n accessories...so if u r easy-going n haf an open mind abt wat make-up u want, will certainly recommend her.....

infinite....seriously 1st time i m hearing a of bride surfing the net in the midst of her ceremony.....wish i cld b as relaxed as u!!!...anyway hope all went 4 u....n ur bridal room wasn't tamil padam afterall....hehehheh

P B - i checked with jinders but they wouldn't tailor material not purchased from there.....i was hard-pressed for a good tailor as well for my SIL....but since her material was heavily sequined n was from stylemart.....she went back to them for the tailoring n paid a bomb (more than the material itself)....

my other suggestion would be since u haven't bought ur pattu saree, consider getting one from stylemart??? (tho' m not sure they haf pattu saree or not).....this wat i did, i bought 1 saree from stylemart n 1 from haneefa n stylemart agreed to sew the blouses n saree falls for both for me.....so maybe they could do the same 4 u??

but am hoping the gals will revert with some good recommendations....i agree a good tailor is so so important but so hard to find......

take it easy gal......

PB - Love the way U put ur foot down on the bed? kekekee. All the best for ur arrangements.
I thot Shanti's AD makeup was standard? her trial is a killer. Heard there's a good north indian tailor at New park hotel. But not sure which one exactly. If else my all time favourite,,.. Ladies centre.

Reena - mi being a makeup idiot and only like simple makeup, think mi gonna try out Shanti... But most prob next yr.

sphire - i tot u going for menaka for temple wedding rite?

suprised u r happy customer of ladies center....heard quite a bit of negative feedback.....mayb must get u to escort....heheheheh

P B......hmm.....that's $30 bucks cheaper than wat she's charging me.....n the $100 top-up for change or outfit applies.....

but i don't think she needs to re-do ur make-up at every outfit change rite??.....n if she doesn't need to be around to help with the change of clothes, she could pretty leave earlier n ur charges will be kept down....

not sure how the other MUAs charge....too lazy n rushed for time now to compare.....$380 works okay for me (m only hafing one outfit change....)....just keeping fingres crossed that all goes well.....n she doesn't 4get anything...

hi gals..so glad it's all over and yeah...it feels great to finally settle down...all the best to all of u...and jus wanna strongly recommend shanthi...she did such a good job that i looked like myself unlike sometimes how the bride looks totally difffernt...and she is really nice...

Reena - Yup mi goin for Menaka for AD. Trying to get Shanti for banquet. She din mentioned anything abt the extra charges for extra change. Strange.. cos I did stress to her that I would require 2 makeup and hairdo for the night. Cant rem how much she quote mi. Probably she has factor everything in. Menaka charges $380 for AD. Jus booked for my sis last night. Havent book anything yet for my case.

I find tht Ladies centre is able to do any designs .. so far .. I've given. Jus gave a saree last night for tailoring of blouse and everything. Been to many tailors.. kind of like their workmanship.

Infinite - yes married woman... any 2cts advice? kekeke. Enjoy ur honeymoon. Rem to show us pics.

Hi all! Holding my wedding in India on 12th april 07 and a wedding dinner here at Raffles Hotel on 28th april. Looking for a good VG to cover the dinner. Pls recommend n gimme details of any VG that u may know. Booked my PS with Seletar n PS is in 2 weeks. Got my sarees and wedding dinner Indian outfit from India. Looking to rent a Western gown now. Know anywhere reasonable or may just go back to Seletar. email: [email protected]

Infinite - So happy for you that everything turned out well!! You must be somewhere far away, enjoying your honeymoon.
happy.gif

Reena - You're up next! How are you feeling?? Is there a gush of excitement?? Just a question, is a pattu saree necessary?? My wedding sarees are stonework sarees, like Valkalan and Parsey silks. Is that ok??? *panic*

Thanks for the offer on the systematic approach. Yeah, that's what I've been trying to do. Venue, JP, register online, get outfits. And then pending venue, need to get florist/decorator and make reservations with restaurant. But it'll be nice to see what you've got on your list too, in case I might have missed something out. You can email me at [email protected]

PB - Just a few weeks to go to your big day! Re. your MIL: It's your money!! And a good mattress doesn't come cheap these days, that's for sure! The cheek she has to insist on smthg like that! Sorry I can't help with any leads on tailors or places for jewellery but I do know that you have to compete with the festive season crowd for your mani and pedi so you really need to make an appt asap.

Kismet - Are you planning to get a spouse visa? Or a skilled migrant visa? I guess if you're getting a spouse visa, you'll be planning for an ROM when your fiance comes up next? But if you're applying for a skilled migrant visa, you won't need to wait for your ROM right? Just thinking of ways to speed things along because I know how you must feel right now with all your plans at a standstill. Try to occupy your thoughts with other wedding-related matters that you can focus your energies on at this point, girl.

Sheela - Welcome on board. Sorry, can't help with VG cos I'm not using one. But if you read the archived posts, some were mentioned before.

To all - Thanks for all the suggestions on locations for a solemnisation, girls. We don't want to spend too much on it so we're capping the food and venue budget at $1k for 20 persons max. OK, stop gawking. ;) But I found out (much to my horror) how expensive spaces like the beach/Sentosa/Little Bali/One Rochester can be. So right now, we've got the Amara and Plaza Parkroyal poolside as options. And the Bandstand at the Botanic Gardens as well as the rooftop of [email protected]. Waiting to hear from the latter two in the meantime.

hi ladies,

Infinite - Glad your wedding went well..Enjoy your honeymoon

. Dont forget to share pics!!

PB - Good on you! Its your stuff and you should decide what to do with it! As for tailor, you may want to try Rani - 62451479 if you haven't found anyone yet. She came highly recommended by a friend when i was contemplating sewing my own outfit for my recepetion. She tailored my fren's wedding outfit from scratch by purchasing fabric and embellishments from Arab street and i must say she did a good job. As for MUA, i've met with Yasmin and like her ideas and suggestions. Her mehendi is good too. I have yet to do my trial tho. Will only be doing that in Jan or Feb.
You can call her and find out more 91807595.

Sphire - Glad to hear things are progressing. Will definitely check out French Bridal.

Reena - All the best for your upcoming wedding. Hope everything is in place. I'm excited thinking of it!!

Kismet - Hang in there...Things will fall into place. Hope your grandad's condition improves soon.

Rany - Happy planning the ROM

Menaka has already another booking on my engagement date. Feel so fustrated. How come my sis wedding.. although everything was rushed but seems to fall in plc perfectly. Mine seems soooo undecided. Anyway... hv contacted Shanti to book her for both my engagement and banquet. She'll only meet up end of dec or beginning Jan. Till then ... hanging.

Hey sphire... c'mon look at the poositive side. I'm sure it's all for a greater good. Well u can try someone else for ur engagement and the decide btw her n menaka once u have experience working with her at ur sis's wedding. at least then u have options. y dun u try Saheli. I actually spoke to her and she seemed really friendly. gonna go for a trial sometime in jan. Also wat abt Yasmin as recommended by SK.

Dun loose heart over minor matters. The bigger greater picture is a perfect engagement then wedding and finally blissful life

Hey Sheela.. welcome..

Hey Rany, funny you asked cause, strange thing happened today and now because of everything my FH has to come to Singapore next week. So we're gonna try to do the ROM asap so that i can put my spouse application through asap. Even that might take up to 6 months. depending on their speed. So now have to try and plan a small ROM. Just like you I'm gonna try to keep it under a grand too if possible.. rather spend more on the wedding than anything else. Please share any ideas or venues that u may have. and what about a JP? know of anyone...?

PB, keep your mattress!!! you'll neeed it after an exhausting wedding. all the best...

Hey Sphire, try to cheer. I know how sucky it feels though i really do. Feel that way about my wedding too.

Thanks SK, just praying and hoping for the best. I'm extremly attached to my grandad so really hard to see him suffer.
Hows your preps going?

Apryl - Yup looking at the positive side,... now that I've mentioned that Menaka is already booked for sept and she told that all saturdays till Dec 15 she's booked, my FH has start pulling his socks. Normally when I mention need to book VG, he always claims its still early. Yesterday when I told him need to confirm, he said okie. kekkekee.

Kismet - Many things are sucking here. Jus hopin to confirm everything ASAP.

Sphire - Hang in there...Something better might come along. Besides, this might be an opportunity for you to try someone new for make-up and have a look that's different from your sister's
happy.gif

Kismet - Well, besides my shopping in India, i haven't really done anything. Work is keeping me real busy. Now that Jan is approaching, my next step would be to find a bridal studio for photoshoot and a VG. The rest i guess will fall into place once i collect my outfits. Next trip to India would also mean trying to settle my wedding invitations. As the venues have all been finalised and booked, its the nitty gritty details and shopping that now has to be looked into. My cousin's ROM is in Jan and his wedding is 2 weeks before mine in July. So preps for that also have to be made.Too many things going on at the same time...
Btw if you are still looking for a JP, you could consider the JP i had for my ROM. I think i emailed you his details before.

Hi lovely ladies
happy.gif

rany - good choice with mount emily! food at wild rocket is really nice...assuming you r ordering food from there? from your selection, i can tell you want something really classy, really elegant and outdoorsy
happy.gif
what abt Jewel Box & Altivo's? I think they do small wedding dinners as well... depends on what kind of cuisine you r looking for really....alternatively you could try vansh. heard the ambience is really good. have you thought about what you want? in terms of theme n food and stuff like tt.

For 1k, tt's a pretty generous budget for 20 pple. for my engagement, i had 200 pple and i booked the ballroom at Spans-JOM. We did the place up and it was pretty cosy. I've seen some spectacular deco there and it was really nice! plus they allow external caterers. You could also try Safra Yishun cos its a country club...or, do it different! i noe someone who booked one of those huge bungalows at changi and brought in a fantastic decorator and did an outdoor thingie overlooking the beach. very pretty pictures! i can check the rates for the government bungalows for u. hehehe we civil servants get disc so can book for u. see how it goes and keep us informed girl....

as for my MIL, it's not just the matress but the whole bed set, cupboard and all! seriously, I spent over 2 k on it all and i'm frustrated tt should i have to move out within the next yr, i can'take it with me and have to buy all over again for my new house
sad.gif

SK - I saw a bride who had menaka's make up and seriously i think shanti does a better job. shanti's north indian so i figured she wouldn't be able to do south indian temple makeup but what she did for infinite was fantastic! i found menaka's makeup clumpy and the hair accessories were kinda obiang. my suggestion is buy your own nice ones and get her to put it on for you. maybe i'm biased as well cos infinite is much prettier than the other bride i saw..hmmm

i've booked Saheli to do my menhdi and just booked my mani n pedi at this nail spa in holland V. i swear it's e best i've had so far...it's called serendipity and i used them for my engagement. as for VG, i agree tt in Sg its so hard to find good ones and those tt are good are expensive! i'm getting a Malay VG cos he's letting me have a say in my editing and then i'm giving the raw video to my fren who has a production house to edit again. hopefully it turns out ok. i'll be going KL this weekend to do some shopping n get my blouses stitched cos it's so much cheaper!

We just bought the wedding favours too! little heart shaped silver baskets with ribbons. Gonna put rocher in them...so much work to do!!!!!! now eveything's going full swing....i'm gonna buy fairy lights n decorate my house like in hindi movies, hehehe so cheesy rite! and my friend's aunt is coming to do up my bedroom with flowers and cloth n candles. hope it's all ok.

hey ladies, just wanna say how great its been getting advice from you guys and sharing our plans. it's wonderful having frens like you who wish the best for each and every one of us. god bless all of you. HUGZ

i guess the part about Menaka vs Shanti's make-up in PB's msg above would have been directed at Sphire not me :p

Btw, PB, may i know what Saheli is charging you for mehendi?

Hello ladies

Been away for awhile. I thought my wedding would be later next year since my FH was supposed to go away this month and only come back in March. But he's staying and now there's a mad scramble to get things done b4 he really leaves in Sept! Sigh. ROM is next month. Having a tough time finding a nice place for dinner. We were thinking of an Indian dinner for max 50 ppl. Many of the restaurants we contacted are expensive, Song of India quoted $95/per person for set dinner!

Any suggestions for nice restaurants or places we can book and cater food?

What do you girls do for entertainment during the dinner? I feel it's kinda boring if everyone just eats and leaves. But my guests are such a mixed bunch...it's hard..

Sphire - Congrats on getting the engagement date fixed!! But sorry to hear about the MUA. Perhaps it's a blessing in disguise. It might be that you'll be happier with another MUA. ;) You said you called Shanti and she's only avail to meet in Jan. But is she avail for your engagement date?

PB - Whole bed-set some more?? I'm speechless!!! The latest is Mount Emily is out for us. Sigh. Doesn't fall w/i our budget. It costs $3200 to use the rooftop. W Rocket says they'd have to close the restaurant even if we want to use just the rooftop. I thought that was abit duh but anyway, if anyone is considering that, the amt does include food and drinks. Can you believe it used to cost only $500 to use the rooftop exclusively?? I read that in the ROM and Solemnisation thread. You're so right, though. What we're looking at is something outdoorsy and elegant. Actually, I thought $1k wasn't very generous because it was supposed to cover both rental and food. ;) It equates to $50 a person and because we wanted to throw a nice dinner/meal for everyone, $50 is abit tight because some places charge exorbitantly for rental.

Thanks so much for offering to book the Changi chalets, dear. You've been really thoughtful. But I think we might be squeezed for time. I think that the rental, decorator and caterer might all add up too.

It's very likely that we're going with the Bandstand at the Botanic Gardens, pending availability. And then dinner at Halia thereafter. Upside: no rental charge for the Bandstand. Downside: you have to bring your own table to the Bandstand for the signing unless you think you won't need one, and no decorating the Bandstand (you can decorate your table though).

Ok, my prev post was long enough so to make it look like I wasn't yapping away, I admit I have cheated and divided my post into Part 1 and 2. This is Part 2.
happy.gif

Kismet - How long is your fiance going to be here for? You need to have at least 20plus days after you register online at the ROM website before you can have your ceremony i.e if you register today, the earliest you can have your ceremony is on 29 Dec.

As for venue options, what is the number of pax you are looking at? Like I wrote in Part 1, it's most likely we're going with Botanic Garden for the reasons stated. If you don't mind lugging your own table or asking a cousin to do it, it's worth considering.

I can also send you the Hi-tea solemnisation packages at Amara and Plaza Parkroyal. They are for 30 pax and fall between the $1100-1200 region. The bonus is you get a free room at the hotel (1night) but the food selection is nothing to crow about.

There was also Little Bali which we were looking at but they fell in the $1300 region for 20 pax.

As PB suggested, you can try Vansh, it's really nice and cosy and very very chic too!! I love the furniture and looks of it!! But if you're looking for a private room, which we are because ours is on a Saturday and we don't want to look like exhibits, there is none. You might want to check with them what they can arrange for you in terms of privacy. If they can cordone off the alfresco dining while you exchange your vows there after dark, it'll be really pretty because they have candles set up on the tables and lights in the trees. Afterwhich, you can either choose to have dinner alfresco or indoors.

The rest like One Rochester/Mount Emily/Sentosa exceed our budget unfortunately. But if you'd still like to consider them, let me know and I'll send the proposals to you.

Notredame - Long time no see. It does seem like there's a few of us ROMing soon, all last minute cases. Hee! Not sure if you want exclusivity or don't mind having other patrons at the restaurant.

Anyhow, here's some suggestions:

Rang Mahal - I think they've got set dinner menus starting from $70 a person
Little Bali - catering by Kinara, starting at $35 a person.
Mirchi - Buffet menus starting at $40 a person.
Ivory The Indian Kitchen - not sure of their charges

If you have a bigger budget, you can rent the Living Room at The Arts House. Very nice with sofas around the room and a grand piano. If your guests are a mixed bunch, then it might work because the older ones can have the sofas and the younger ones can mingle.

Some hotels are also doing a solemnisation lunch/high-tea/dinner for 50 pax too. I think Sheraton and Shangri-La are some but I don't know if they have an Indian menu. Maybe you could try Hyatt and Oriental to see if they've got something like that?
