Hello!
I've been with my boyfriend for over 3 years. We are both working but with an average income. We both want to marry soon but is worried about the financial burden that comes with it (wedding banquets, getting a new home etc.)
How financially stable must you be before you consider marriage?
The main cost maybe 60 to 70% easily is going to be the wedding banquet.
And that depends on
A) hotel or restaurant
B) number of tables
C) weekend or weekday , dinner or lunch.
If you want a "decent hotel" , weekend dinner its easily 1200++ per table of 10.
Multiply by number of tables and you have your main cost.
You will need hire wedding gown and prewedding photo shoot that can be at least 2k more likely 3k+
You want actual day photography and videography add another 2k.
Budget for bridal car at least 500.
Add in engagement and wedding band and honeymoon and misc like pinjin you get an idea about budget.
And I haven't even include housing.
You can of course save by say going weekday lunch, hold in restaurant not hotel, invite few guests , get friends to take your photo. Don't book packages with bridal studio but go jb find, defer honeymoon etc.
But many people I know want the conventional thing which is ex.
That's why most Singaporeans marry in their 30s. Its quite expensive.
