Hilton Hotel

hi blureth

these days weather is no good, better drink more water. Dun be too stress and everything will be alright.

Will pray for yr grandma for quick recovery

Hi Ocean, finally u make a decision.. so happi for u.. muz b busy wif other stuffs bah?

My AD is stil v v far so i hv plenty of time at the moment..Right now hving exam, so din realli bother much abt my bridal package.. Perharp ard Sept then make decision. Anywhere im taking my package in JB - Venus.

Blureth: How's ur grandmother liao? Hope she's recoving well..

Gers, do take care of urself ya.. The weather is so bad tis few days...

hi Joant

Me not only busy with wedding as I am the only one arranging cos fiancier is Europe and he will be doing ours in Apr, i also need to run for my sales and also to do my resident permit in Europe.

I went to JB before but was pissed off with this lady boss's attitude . The bridal shop is near J Sentosa . I ask her to speak English to me 4 times as my fiancier is not a chinese, and she still rattles and talk , then i told her give me her name card and ask 5 times she does not want to give. In the end, we walk out and decide not to do in JB. Also i dun feel safe me travelling and driving alone there. thank god i didnt chose that decision cos now cannot pump petrol there.
But im sure u have chosen the right one. Just focus on yr exam for the time being ok!
All the best !

FG: Hmm, I actually got as many as 8 dates to choose from from the shifu I went to consult. We wanted to hold our wedding on a Sat, so we chose in June cos it's the sch holidays cos hubby's sis still schooling. 28-30 tables shldn't be too difficult to source for a location. Have U tried looking at other hotels? That is, if U really want that date ur fortune-teller gave U.

Ling: It's a case of jumbled up intestines for my grandma, thus causing her pain in the abdomen area. Operation was to remove the 'bad' parts of the intestines.

Ocean Claudia & joant: Thks for ur well wishes. Her diabetic & heart condition isn't making her healing process going quite well. Keeping fingers crossed now. I myself am down with a cold, sigh. Yea, bad weather nowadays, if it's hot, it's really hot & humid. When it rains, it pours down cats & dogs. :S

Praying hard that all things will turn out better and trying to not let these things affect and dampen my wedding spirit!

Blureth: Sorry to hear that yr grandma condition. We will pray for you and everything will be fine..i duno whether u believe "chong xi" dun worry and yr grandma will be in speedy recovery. Take good care. Be a happy bride.

Blureth: Thanks for your advice, I am actually now contemplating on changing the dates or holding the customary on Sunday and banquet on Monday. I thought the later choice may be good so that it's not so tiring for me and my hubby...
Anyway, I wish your grandma a speedy recovery and all the best for you.

hi blureth

How is yr grandma? hope she is well and good. Do not accept those negative superstitious thoughts. Stay positive and everything will be alright. May yr grandma has divine healing and clean bill of health.

Thanks ladies... for all ur well wishes for my grandma... She has juz gotten discharged and is now recovering at home. She's one tough woman!

Sorry for the late reply... Lotsa stuff still needs our attention and I'll try to update whenever possible. My wedding is this Sat...oh boy...think I'm gonna suffer a mental breakdown. LOL...

Blureth: great to hear that yr grandma has been discharged. Please dun stress yourself too much, try to simplify everything and have a good rest..i feel excited and happy for you..counting down for u four days to go...

Hi all who've held their wedding dinners in Hilton Hotel. I just wanna ask if the guest did feeback anything about the food? I had a few friends who attended a wedding dinner in Hilton some time ago and they remarked that the food wasn't too good. I just wanna be sure its a one off thing.

Hi All

For those that just got married...need your advise on ang bao:
Do you we need to give ang bao to:
1. Driver
2. MUA
3. Hotel staff

If yes, what is the market rate?
Who else we need to give?

Hi smtf : My guests were full of praises for the food served during my wedding banquet... =) Maybe you should ask your friends what about the food that they find not up to standard... Was it the taste, presentation, served cold etc?

Hi nt259 : We gave hong bao to our parents & my grandma (during tea ceremony), driver, mua, banquet manager, jie meis, brothers, little cousins/kids who happened to be at our place during lunch... Just remember that is only a token... so there is no market rate...

Hi Ling,
I think what they mentioned was that the Hilton signature herbal chicken was not good. But I think it may be a one off thing. I paid the deposit with Hilton already. But I when I mentioned to these friends about signing with Hilton, their reaction about the food for that wedding they attended was so strong that I felt like maybe I made the wrong choice. I guess all of us who are getting married don't want to be remembered for the wrong reasons. Haha. I'll stick with Hilton but I just pray that food will be at least ok on my wedding day.
I find that so far, the Hilton wedding coordinators have been quite accommodating.
Thanks for the info once again, Ling.

Hi all, finally consolidated a list of feedback from ourselves, our families & our guests for our wedding in Panorama on 14th June...so here goes...

1. Aircon was rather weak, especially for the area near to the stage, inclusive of the VIP tables.
2. Food quality wasn't as fantastic as trial session and guests commented that it is below average. My hubby had given feedback on the spot to Raymond (our banquet mgr) about the bland & lumpy shark's fin. As it's one of the dishes which we had taken in the ballroom ourselves, its standard is really appalling especially when it's such a great difference to the food trial.
3. Dessert (Traditional Yam) was probably the best dish of the entire banquet.
4. My vegetarian guests said that only the fried rice taste good.
5. Hubby's Muslim friend liked his food.
6. Servers were not very prompt & even took longer time than expected in refilling drinks. Glasses were removed from table, even before banquet ends.
7. Waiters seemed to be in a hurry to remove the main dishes from the tables. Some seemed to have problems understanding English as when my guests told them not to remove due to unfinished food, they still removed it though some guests are still eating.
8. There was a technical hiccup I heard that happened when we went to our Suite for a change of gown. That the projector had showed the soccer match between Saudi & Singapore.
9. It didn't look nice when stewards for VIP tables didn't serve our portions altogether. Like serving 3 portions first, pause in between, another 4 portions served, pause, then remainder were served.
10. Raymond was great & patient, dishing out sound advice & pre-empting us on when-to-do-what. I was also given ample time to change into my gowns & take a breather in the Suite.

We were rather disappointed as we had chosen Hilton based on past comments on good food quality & service. We had aimed to have guests remember that they have attended our wedding which served great food but sad to say, that was not meant to be. *sigh*

Hope Hilton Singapore can improve on the areas highlighted above and work on providing better service to future couples.

Anyway, the above is an exact copy & paste from my email to June last night...

Other stuff would be sound system not bad, my singing for my 1st march-in on their wireless mic was OK, at least the sound output was clear throughout.

nt259: Angbao giving, for me, it's more or less the same as Ling...'cept I didn't give angbaos to my parents & grandma.

Somehow, I kinda felt that it was a total mess especially at the hotel. Anyway, it's over and there's nothing else we can do abt it.

Now I'm just waiting for a reply from June, to see if I'm able to redeem my additional Exec Suite stay (UOB package) on my birthday this Sept.

Hi Blureth
Thanks for the feedback on the standard of Hilton.
It seems Hilton standard is going up & down..
I'm getting worried...mine in Nov 2008

By the way, did you bring in any wine from outside?
If yes, how much per bottle and which wine seller.

What are your march in song you choosen?
You can email me at [email protected]

nt259: Yes, it's really kinda disappointing. Towards the end of last yr, I remembered some negative feedbacks. Then beginning of 2008, good comments came in again, so that kinda assured us. Come our turn, *sigh*...

No, I bought from Hilton instead. We had instructed red wine to be served only after cocktail reception. Amazingly, 6 bottles of red wine were already consumed b4 the dinner starts! LOL. We didn't buy any extras ourselves cos we didn't expect red wine to be that popular. Hehe...

1st march-in - I sang unplugged, "Can't Help Falling In Love" by Elvis Presley.
2nd march-in - 甜蜜约定 by 183俱ä¹éƒ¨

hi Blureth

Thank you for the feedback. Would like to check the following:

1) When the aircon was low, did you highlight to them when u feel is not right?
6) Were there other weddings besides yours? thats why there is not enough servers?
7)WHat is the majority race of the servers? which country are they from? Sri Lanka, India or CHina?

Can understand how disaponted u feel...there is nothing much u can do, try to focus on the positive side of it ok? like the manager's service and the nice big room u have
happy.gif

Ocean Claudia:

1) No, it wasn't highlighted to them. 1st, I didn't feel it much, maybe cos I was pretty much on the move thruout. 2nd, when I heard my friends commenting abt it, it was during table-to-table photo-taking and I didn't had time to feedback to Raymond. Cos after that, I had to go back up to the Suite to change into my cheongsum.

6) There was another wedding in the Grand Ballroom. I don't think there weren't enough servers (didn't really pay much attention), rather they were slow in the service.

7) At least the servers for my table seemed to be a local. I really didn't even have time to look around.

Well, am looking forward to my birthday celebration at the Exec Suite again... We plan to wear suit & gown again for the occasion. :P

nt259: I believe all couples are given the Executive Suite on the night of their wedding. Do correct me if any past Hilton brides didn't. From what I hear from June, it's the 2nd largest suite room after their Presidential Suite. *shrug*

hi blureth.. sorry to hear the little hiccups you had during your wedding nite. It can be hard to accept those "flaws" but am sure you also received some compliments from guests on the dinner. More importantly is you guys had a great night! just like us (if you still remmeber me, lladro. my previous acct still got suspended for no reasons!)

are you planning for honeymoon?

oh, it's you lladro! hehe... How's married life now that it's 6 mths down the road?

Well, I'd treat it as more than "little hiccups" as u've mentioned. Compliments mainly went for my gowns, hair & makeup, singing, song list...basically nuttin much to do wiv Hilton itself, sorry to say. Sigh.

But again, Raymond & June were both such nice ppl... like Raymond suggesting having 3 pairs of xiongdis & jiemeis to stand at intervals beside the aisle during our 2nd march-in to shower us with flower petals, giving us ample notice to prepare us for the next thing to do e.g. gown change, photo taking... June stayed back to make sure things are setup properly & came to congratulate us after our 1st march-in, she also followed closely with me on our feedback.
happy.gif

Nah, not planning for honeymoon... Maybe we'll have my first overseas trip 1 yr later or so, after I get a job. :P

Ha.. thanks for still remembering me.

Ya. June is really an asset to Hilton. So much compliments on the services she’s rendered. She also stayed back just to make sure everything is in order, and we were rather surprise to see she is still around while we were preparing ourselves for 1st march-in.

Hiccups bound to happen no matter how perfect the preparation was done. But, if the coordinator is not accommodating enough then the preparation will be tough. Intercontinental ball room is real nice, but heard that the coordinators are rather stingy in giving in to couples’ requests (especially after signing the contracts).

Nicholas was assigned to oversee our wedding night. He is very nice too. Soft spoken… attentive to our requests. Still remember he passed me a stack of tissue paper after seeing me shed tears. Kinda funny to think about it now.. haha.

Hi all,
I see that you all talking about June, I contacted her as well. Will hold mine next year, but upon seeing these feedbacks, espcially Blureth. Sign...
Anyway, I'll still give Hilton a chance.

BLURETH: How many tables you had at this ballroom? And wow, you sing your own march in song, walk and sing? So 'li hai'.

lladro: Yes, I din expect all to be perfect, however, I'm kinda disappointed at the service and food quality on my wedding night. Whatever, it's all over.

Chris: I had a total of 22 tables in Panorama. LOL. Not very 'li hai' lar. My voice trembled as I got nearer to my hubby who's waiting near the VIP tables. Couldn't help it, was pretty nervous, more nervous than compared to doing performances. I was also clutching my dad's arm more tightly as we marched in.

nt259: It really boils down to the theme U want for your photoalbum, as well as the type of gowns you have. For example, I had a cheongsum, so I went to Thian Hock Keng temple, Spottiswoode & Chinese Garden.

Hi Blureth, did you take your photos in the Hilton suite? I'm still considering whether to do banquet at Hilton Grand Ballroom.

only: I had signed up the UOB package with Hilton in Sept 2007. The package has the basics, with additional use of LCD projectors, extra night stay in Exec Suite, complimentary 12 bottles of red wine & free wine corkage for every 2 confirmed tables. I'm not sure what's the current package they are offering now, so I think it's best you check with Hilton.

I'll upload more photos of my PS in my blog soon.
happy.gif
My gowns are from Ted Collection. PS & AD PG/VG from Portrait Gallery, flowers from Fleurlicious & MUA is Jesslin Ng.

jean: I used Crystal theme. Used black chair cover & gold tablecloth for my VIP tables. Cream & champagne roses. My AD photos aren't ready yet. Heh...

Hi Blureth
I still thinking to buy wine from Hilton or bring my own...headach.

Since you buy from Hilton, your free wine corkage for every 2 confirmed tables from UOB is no use, correct ?

What type of wine, Hilton provide?

nt259: If not for the "free wine corkage for every 2 confirmed tables", I'd have to pay for the extra 6 bottles of red wine which we bought from Hilton.

hi all

anyone had any idea where to get cheap and good ribbons to tie the wedding cards? becos I went to chinatown and search, one role is $8, and can tie 26 cards. So if I have 8 rolls x $8 will be $64. This will be quite expensive

Need yr advice

thanks

Hi all

1)Any of you know if the 1st march-in song and the photo montage/express higlights is played via CD or DVD? Or we bring our laptop to connect to their AV... Will their staff help us or we need to get our friends to play it

2)Secondly, is the 2 projectors (front and back) link? Meaning when we pay the photo montage/express higlights does both projectors play at the same time or got the risk of 1 faster then the other

Hi Ocean Claudia, i bought my ribbon from Popular, i think one roll ard 3 or 4plus. Then we bought a glue with white packaging meant for art and craft to hold the ribbon. The glue is approx ard 1.50. Dont use superglue cos it will seep through and cause a mark in the other side... I did some add on for my ROM invitation card cos the card supplied by hotel was kinda plain...

hi Candy

Is yr cards with the inserts supplied by Hilton?
Why do u need to glue it?
for one roll, how many cards will that be?

thanks for advice
happy.gif

nt259: Only complimentary bottles from Hilton, then U get free corkage. Else, even if they're purchased from Hilton, U still gotta pay corkage fee.

Ocean Claudia: I needed to paste inserts onto my invitation cards as well, as the design I've chosen has embossed patterns for the cover and I had to print both Eng & Chn. For me, had considered glue as suggested by AWT (card vendor with Hilton) but found it troublesome. Instead I used small double-sided tape which worked just as well.

Patsy:

1) CD or DVD, it shld all work. Of cos, best that U call to confirm with them. My song list (including march-in songs) are all played from iBook. We got my hubby's colleague to coordinate with Hilton's tech staff cos we played our own selection of songs thruout the banquet. If U're only playing march-in songs, then U can actually ask for their tech staff to help.

2) Yes, both projectors are linked. So be it playing of montage or live feed, it'll show the same thing at the same time.
