Hi mspiggy

sound system is great.... no worries about it... I had my own band there too... as mine was a church wedding in the afternoon followed by high tea then the banquet at nite... their service is quite good...

U can actually get them to pack up the food served in the banquet to your room that nite.. as most of the time u all won't have time to consume it...

I miss the hilton suite... my husband and i stayed there for 2 days... its really nice and wonderful... the bed is really big! hehehe!!!

Hi all,

Has anyone seen the new decorations from Hilton? I wanted to have some petals to be sprinkle as I have my march-in. Have anyone get extra petals from the decorations house (the one who done up the decorations in the Ballroom)?

Sound system is ok. Advise that you bring the originals. Don't try to burn the songs into 1 cd. The playback for the old CDs will not be as good. I found the lighting a bit too dark. When I see my video for that nite's event, the food presentation was like 'ting dian'. Inform your videographer to do something.
For beer, as mine was on a Sunday nite, my guests didn't drink much. I think the 50lit given by the hotel still got leftover. We also brought home like 10 bots of wine. Only use 26.
I also requested the coordinator to modify the plan to accomodate a longer march-in. The table numbering can also modify. I opted not to use the red carpet.
The baskets are palmed-sized ones, made of cane. I bought my rose petals from Poppy. Quite exp. becos the qty was very little altho the salesgirl told me its 80 stalks. Can try to ask your coordinator if they can supply you the petals as they have in-house florist.
Those that have signed up, don't worry too much lah. You still got chance to negotiate when it is nearer to your wedding.

Hi Tomyam,

Just went for food tasting last week. Very disapponited with the shark fin. Cannot feel shark fin at all. Tasted like chicken soup. All Chicken. Really terrible. The rest still ok!

So did you have the long march in? How long? Thought that their longest is the L-shaped. How did you modify? Can advise!

I had asked the florist to keep some flowers petals for me. Stephanie is a very nice lady. Did hotels provide you with the basket? Told to them and they says will go and find the basket!

Hi PF
So your wedding is quite near I guess. After modification, the march-in is perhaps 3- 5 metres longer I estimate. But depends on the number of tables you having. I have 41 so there is allowance to modify. It's still L-shaped.
I think they use very little shark's fin for mine too. When I feedback that the food tasted a bit bland during the food tasting, on the actual day, I found that the found were a bit too saltish. Some of my frens also feedback too saltish. Hopefully, after your feedback, they add more shark's fin into the soup, yah.

Where you going for honeymoon?
Good luck in your planning and everything.

Hi to those having banquet at Hilton
I had my banquet at the Grand Ballroom on 1st June this year. There was no hicup except I was semi-drunk. hehehe

Just from my experience,,,if u want to get things done fast,,talk directly to June. She is the boss.

enjoy ur evening there, especially the great spacious executive suite !

As for the carpark issue, ask ur frens to park at Far East Shopping centre or Forum Gallery, both charge a flat $2 per entry after 5 pm.

The free parking coupon can be given to relatives and those assistance who are coming earlier to help.

me not really thinking of having a professional video-camming my whole event that day.

my brother-in-law is doing them. so i thought on its day itself if Hilton agree on that day no charges for the use of e projector, i will ask my brother-in-law 2 edit and of course show them 2 all the guests the morning activities.

no harm trying
so you gals getting professional help

Hi,

I will be holding my wedding in Hilton soon, and is pretty piss off with their co-ordination.

We have to contact both the florist and invitation cards supplier by ourselves (contacts are given to us by Hilton).

Which means me n hubby have to make appt and go down to 2 different places to confirm our stuff. Pretty inconvenient if one don't drive.

BTW do any brides here have any good and reasonable-priced printer to recommend?

Thanks in advance.

Hi cocobean

Be careful of 1 of the printer recommended by Hilton..I think it's T dragon neat Lavendar MRT(SIR)..

They dun give advice on what is to be writtenon the cards and I had mine printed wrongly for my wedding in 00.Partly is my fault as my FIL passed waay and I did not include his surname together with my MIL surname..

but luckily June agreed to replace all cards w/o a fee (reluctantly of course!!)..u mean other hotels would do the coordination for u?? I'm surprised as I did all co-ordination(external myself)..even I was the one who called/email Hilton staff for details/changes and discussions to my table arrangments..

In all it's really a 1 man show..if u dun take inititaive..they will wait until the very end..

Dear observer

Thank for the info, do you still have any other good printer to recommend?

I know I have to draft my own wordings for the insert/printing of wedding cards ourselves.

What I'm mad is that instead of going down to Hilton to select our wedding cards and flower arrangements all at one time, we have to personally go down to the florist and card supplier ourselves.

I rather Hilton keep samples of the cards and photo of the flower arrangements so that we as couple (already so busy) can just settled everything in Hilton itself.

I hope everything will turn out well. No miscommunication etc etc.

B. Regards

HI cocobean

I'm afraid no as my printer is my relative..
so cannot introduce as my hubby liason with
them and not me..

anyway it's been >2 yrs now so I can't say if their services is still as gd..
for me. Hilton has sample cards for me to choose
and I left all flora arrangement to them..(I've no special request)..what I did request is a change of flowers from white to pink rose..Hilton had fotos to show me of their deco though, including flora deco..have they change their coordination now?

Hi Observer,

They had changed their decorations recently. That is why we are liaising w the suppliers. I had liaise with them individually too. They even have samples at the shops so we prefer to go down personally.

So far, we do not faced any problems with them yet. Quite helpful esp Irene.

One printer to recommend is Hi-Tech. I got mine printed there. The price is extremely low for printing normal inserts and comparely for hot stamping. I printed mine there. They help do phrasing too.

You may call Mei Yan 64589455. She is very helpful.

Dear PF,

Hm, do you mean we need to pay for the printing charges ? what about the flowers deco ? what other charges that we need to pay ? I thought Hilton included all charges in the package. my wedding is in May 03, I haven't arrange anything with them yet. :)

Hi Wonder,

all hotels don't include cost of printing of inserts in all their pkgs.
for ballrm flower deco, they will hv pics to let u choose, only on stage or along the aisle. if u want to deco whole ballrm, then got to pay extra loh...

who's yr coordinator? mine is irene.
they shd call u nxt mth or so, my wedding in oct 03 so can't advise much. maybe the other brides who hv gone thru banquet can advise.

Hi all,

I had just hold my wedding on 12 Jan 03. It was really a success esp with the help of all the coordinator Irene and Hasan. They are really wonderful. Irene who had been accomodating to our request and persistent changing of the items. It was really wonderful to have them and their help.

hi everybody,

Have anyone of the brides here used the "canopy" decoration on the stage recently? Is it nice? From the photo that Irene shown me, it looks quite romantic, but my girlfriend said it looks like mmmhhh sorta like a funeral parlour, because it all white and .......the design like those....(touchwood) sort of stuff.

Can someone here give me their opinion.

Thank in advance

hello bluebride,
i've not seen this deco before. but personally i find it ok becoz it creates the "outdoor" feel in the ballroom. you can chose pink roses to go with the deco so that not everything is white.

Hi

I am considering to have my wedding dinner at Hilton and will be meeting up Irene this week to see the ballroom. For weekday of about 25 tables, will I be able to get free flow of beer?

From the comments that you have posted, seems that they are quite flexible and obliging.

Hi Yan,

Did you manage to bargain for free flow of beer for 25 tables on weekday? I am also interested to find out.

hi all,
just held a wonderful wedding dinner in HILTON on March. Everything turns up very well. From June (banquet manager) to Hassan (chief waiter), they lead us and our guest to a wonderful night. Many many thanks to all the staffs in HILTON.

The canopy decoration turn out to be the main attraction. Gold, silver trimming make the whole canopy stand out from the stage.

Food wise, can't really please 370+ ppl. But overall everyone enjoy the dinner.

Another thanks to June cos on the actual day, we're too busy (later drunk) and we forgot to keep a set of e wedding favor and e menu for memory. I call her up ytr and my hubby collected all these from her tdy.

Lastly we thanks all e guests and Hilton that its mark a memorable event in my life

Hi all

Can anybody advise me on the vista room? I would like to know how is it look like cos i cant meet the min no. of tables for the grand ballroom. Thank you.

Hi Kilo,

I did went to take a look at the Vista room, not very impressive by that. The grand ballroom looks much better. Anyway, I don't think Hilton is quite a good choice cos the food they served is by their chefs who only catered for banquets. Service wise was so-so when I asked the lady to show me the ballroom itself. Think about it before making your decision.

hello kilo,
Vista rm is kinda of longish... the tables are separated by the aisle. I think it can hold abt 23 - 25 tables.

Hi mspiggy
Heard from the banquet manager...its kinda rectangular but no pillars. Does that means a row of tables on both side??

I'm having around 20-22 tables. I have no idea which other hotels allow me to have only 20-22 tables. Can you advise me? Thank you.
